Hello, I installed CyanogenMod 5.0 lastnight and the market and a few other applications are not there, im guessing that is the google addon can anyone tell me in detail how to install that? Thanks
You need to flash to ER27 Google add on pack here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623496
Current link: http://www.mediafire.com/file/jmmzywtlnjd/gapps-passion-ERE27-2-signed.zip
thanks...How do i flash it?
I would like to know also. I've gone into recovery and added the file to the SD card than tried to run it, only to tell it me it's not a zip. So I renamed it and also tried compressing it as zip(just to make sure) and I get an error.
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted
Download the add on from that page listed, place it on the root of your sdcard, reboot into recovery, flash it in recovery (the same way you flashed the ROM, but do not wipe), then reboot your phone.
That is exactly what I did. I sent a pm w/ more details. I tried covering all grounds just to make sure if one failed the other one would'nt.
Edit: Should USB debugging be on/off? Don't know if that makes a difference
Edit: Figured it out. Everytime i would downlad the file on my mac it would not be a .zip file so renaming it and compressing it did nothing. I downloaded it on my pc and voila, it works fine..weird...

This is because you enable auto open files in Safari. The actual zip file is in your Trash lol.
To disable it (and u should), open Preferences > General > Uncheck Open "safe" file after downloading

You managed to root your phone, install a custom recovery, flash cm6.1, but you can't find the Google apps? REALLY????

How to install the Google Addon?
You have to change the name of the file (ex: "gapps-mdpi-20101020-signed.zip") to "update.zip". Move it to your SDcard and then install from recovery.

You don't need to be in "Debuggin mode", neither to rename to "update.zip".. Just use ROM manager provided by cyanogenmod and go wiki :

Hello Dacid1171,
I installed Cyanogenmod 7.0.0, with no google apps of course.
I used gapps-gb-20110307-signed pack, went to recovery and chose "Install from SD card", just like I would if I was flashing new ROM.
After that the phone wouldn't book. Logo of cyanogenmod would appear with the circular arrow moving around it, after 3 round it stops and restarts all over.
It was kept that way for a very long time hoping that the phone will come to life. It wouldn't.
What did I do wrong?

Try flashing it again but this time clear cache and dalvik cache.
Flash cm7 rom again follow by the gapps than reboot.
Hi Everyone,
I apologize as this is probably a newbie question but, I`ve just installed CM9 (the latest flash) onto my HP Touchpad (which I just bought).
How do I go about getting apps onto my device? How do I get the google play or market onto my device? or do I simply download apps onto my computer then open them on my device?
I`ve spent some time looking through the forums and youtube but haven`t been able to find an answer.
Thank you for your help

On the CM9 nightly thread, there's a link to gapps (Google addons) in the first post. You will need to flash it each time you flash the ROM. Make sure you use the latest ICS one.
here's the gapps that will work for you on cm9.
http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
you can download it right from the browser on your touchpad if you want. then the easiest way to install is to reboot into CWM ClockworkModRecovery and select "install zip from sdcard>select zip from sdcard" then select the gapps zip file to flash it should be named gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip and be in your /sdcard/Download/ folder if you downloaded it from your touchpads browser.
Thanks
Thanks to both of you for the answer and helping out!
every link i see in all the how toos are dead. Very awesome tutorials but NONE of the links work.
I got a bone stock TP and would love to get at least ICS going on it for my daughters B-Day.
Any one help or host for me?

There's a good lilliputing article that I'm sure you found with dead links. Use that, but Google for the exact file names; they're probably on goo.im.
Or Google the md5sum like here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1838804.
here these are links from my own box account. they will never be dead. ever.

all you really need to do initially is flash the moboot bootloader and the cwm-recovery to the touchpad. then everything else like roms and other zip installers you can just move them to the touchpad from your computer or whatever then flash them through CWM recovery. simple as that.
but if you want to just do it all at once then here is the link for the latest cm9-nightly
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/get/jenkins/9588/cm-9-20121007-NIGHTLY-tenderloin.zip
REMEMBER!!!! if you're going to install everything at once using acmeinstaller you MUST change the name of the cm-9-20121007-NIGHTLY-tenderloin.zip or it wont install with acmeinstaller. just add update- to the front of he name like this update-cm-9-20121007-NIGHTLY-tenderloin.zip
then here is the link for the correct gapps .zip file http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
same thing with the gapps zip you need to add update- to the name like this
update-gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
now when you have update-gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
update-cm-9-20121007-NIGHTLY-tenderloin.zip
update-cwm_tenderloin-1012.zip
and moboot_0.3.5.zip (only moboot doesnt need to have update- in the name) all inside the cminstall folder of the touchpad. then youre ready to get to work with the acmeinstaller.
enjoy!!

Finally got my Sprint CDMA Gtab with broken internal Sd working on CM10.1. However I can't get the gapps package install and I don't have a working clkworkmod recovery ... It always gets clobbered.
Is there an easy way to install gapps from within Android?
Cm10.1 kernel definitely contains a cwm recovery.
How is yours without one?
Gapps is a pack of apk and files.
Read the updater-script in its META-INF folder and you can do exactly like what the script does, manually.

This is one of those CDMA Gtabs with the busted internal SD so all the partition assignments are screwy. The ROM I've had most luck with is the CM10.1 with the Humberos? Kernel... Don't know if it contains CWM. Every time I flash in the ROM it wipes CWM but if I reinstall CWM then the ROM doesn't boot so right now they are mutual exclusive.
Trying to install a gapp apk file with FileManager doesn't work... It gets going but then says install failed... I presume the partitioning is screwing it up.... Gave it perms and made /system rw, still no go.
Anyways I just reinstalled the whole thing, oddly I have to flash another CM10 ROM first with CWM (which doesn't boot) then follow it with the 10.1 ROM but this time I also did the gapps. Now everything is 'fine' although I still don't have CWM...
UPDATE: I see that others are finding their recovery clobbered with this Rom...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2043421
I an running Sense based Roms on my One, went from 4.1 to 4.2, and lost my media content. Did some searching, figured out it what happened, fixed that problem, but now I have a different sort of issue.....
I can download a new ZIP file, usually ROM's, onto the internal SD, transferring them from my laptop. The files show up in my windows explorer, can delete, add, view ZIPs, just like normal, no problem. The Issue I have is that when I boot into CWM recovery, the only zip file that shows up is one for an older ROM, none of the new ZIP files I add show up in recovery, and the one sitting in there doesn't show up in Windows Explorer.
The only way I have been able to flash a new ROM, is to enter in through CWM Rom Manager, select the ZIP there, which shows up no problem, (though the old one that shows up in recovery doesn't show up here), and flash it. This works ok, but is really annoying, especially if you have an issue with a wipe and flash, and have do go do a full restore before trying again, since I can't locate the files any other way.....
How do I get my CWM recovery to recognize the new files? Do I need to reflash CWM?
