I never did the data2ext but can you reboot without it? That's really weird if your recovery doesn't function properly (i.e. no wipes). Can you use nand restore to a non-data2ext backup?

All my nands freeze at restoring system

[HELP] i9000m crashed. Cant see sd card anymore

This happened to two of my friends recently. While normal use their i9000m froze and became unresponsive.
For one of them, after a battery pull it rebooted and stayed on a black screen. After a couple more pulls it booted into the homescreen, all his apps and data were missing. Internal SD shows as not mounted. He put in a different 4gb into the external slot and the phone formatted it (no longer works on windows now), but still doesnt show up on the settings page.
He has limited voice/text, but data and the android market doesnt work. None of his apps are there (I guess since the internal SD isnt mounting).
Any ideas on how to fix this? He was/is running JG9 with no lagfix
Dead corrupted internal memory.. needs to go to repair. No way out, I'm in the same boat...
Try a factory reset from the recovery mode screen. You will lose all your data but it might work. It worked for me. Good luck.

[Q] attempt to flash Foyo gone awry

Got it fixed. Use the clockwork bootable image and get the stock image to revert to stock or reflash froyo to EMMC again
I don't have the technical ability to help in the non-boot issue but why don't you download WinImage, make VHD's of one or both of 8gb cards, then use those cards to install whatever recovery media the fine folks here suggest. THEN once you're up and running again.. and I have no doubt that you will be, this thing seems to be un-brickable, then you can just restore your microSD card from the VHD backup.
Im on a Mac and dont have access to a windows pc. is ther any other way i could go about doing this?
I had the same problem. I Burnt a CWM version that is bootable from an SD card, then I burnt the same card with the 1.00 stock zip image. These files are somewhere on this forum. But the only wait out is that CWM running from as SD card. I had to burn the card with my cellphone.

how did u burn it on your phone?
On your Mac you can use the TERMINAL app to create an image with no problem .. since you can get into recovery, just put an sd card in a reader on the mac .. format it and burn the image ... for specifics google is your friend .. the osx commands are here .. hope this helps ... BTW using a phone to create an image does not work for many people ...
i know how to burn a image with the Terminal. and i flashed the Nookie froyo wrong and cant even get to recovery at all. and for me I cant seem to do anything with the SDcard since i already flashed nookie foryo on it and cant reformat it. . ive tried everything i can think of and am lost

10 charecter bump
The 2 skulls was the way out. If you had the 1.0.1 image on the root of the card assuming you could get past the 2 skulls you would be good to go. Possible the SD card you are using has a problem. Try making a new one with the 1.0.1 in the root of the SD and sintall update from ZIP.
I just did a recovery to stock from froyo eMMC but didn't mess up the /data /system format part.
If all fails, I'd be happy to help if you want to ship it to me and cover shipping in both directions.
I do have the skull image but it did nothing. Left my nook alone and went to school. 8hours later same skull screen. And my mac won't let me reformat any of my sd cards and only worked when inside my nc

I'm having a similar problem. I recently tried the Flashable Froyo ROM for the Nook Color from modembug on XDA. Now I don't have Clockwork Recovery and need help getting it back. Instead of any boot animation, I just get a "loading..." and then an "ANDROID_" and it doesn't come up at all. The only way to turn it off at this point is to press both and hold both power and n buttons. I really don't think the 8 boot method is working at all.
I've tried ADB but I am unable to connect to my computer, ADB commands say error: device not found.
Try the power+n reset.. hold both for 30 seconds to boot the NC.. the reset data...

I am having the same problem. Anyone made any progress on getting back to stock in this situation? I can boot from sd card with froyo also.

Urgent [Q] I may have screwed up badly..

Ok, I might have bricked my phone. I had the cm7/Aosp gingerbread mod. But I didn't have apps2sd enabled. So I downloaded rom manager, flashed the newest version of clockwork recovery, and rebooted to recovery, where I partitioned for apps 2 sd with a size of 256 mb and 128mb swap-space . I then factory reset, and formatted Boot, cache, data, everything. After that I went to mount as Usb, and I copied the Rom, gapps, and a battery icon mod back to the phone. But the phone didn't recognize any installable packages on my sd after I un-mounted, so I shut my Hero off in hopes it would when I turned it back on p) . When I turned the Hero on, it went to a Usb-fastboot mode, and I couldn't get it to turn off so I removed the battery from the back of my phone, then put it back in. Now my phone won't turn on at all. Does anybody know what I did wrong and can I fix it?

Thanks Spleef, but I was wondering how to get my phone to turn on again as it seems to have just quit on me
Whenever a ROM doesn't boot up properly, boot loop, freeze, etc, I usually have to pull the battery out. Then when I restart it, I hold down the Volume Down and Power buttons at the same time to boot into recovery. Try doing this while the phone is plugged into your wall charger and see if that helps.
Also, I'm not 100% on how to get the apps2sd working, but I had a question about which version of Clockwork you were using. I thought with CM7 Gingerbread we were supposed to use version 3.0.0.5 of Clockwork. I know there is a new version, 2.5.1.7 I think, that shows up in ROM Manager. Unless something has changed, I don't think it will work with CM7.
I'm still pretty new to this, so hopefully someone else will chime in here for you.
Good luck.
i did the same thing one time you gota wipe everything again i mean even the sd card and extthen take ur sd card adapter and put rom gapps any extras on ur sd card then put it back into ur phone then flash it in the order of rom, gapps, extras, and kernel last if u are using one hope this helps
p.s this was using CWM 2.5.0.1
This just happened to me the other day, except I was trying to use firerats partition mod. See if it will boot by holding volume down or up while powering on. It worked for me, but I had to ruu back to stock and had reroot with z4root.apk

Ok anytime you do a factory reset from the phone you most likely will loose root. And leave your phone charged over night it should come back on. And your swap is to big IMO. For apps to sd try a 28 or 32 swap and 512 partition. Then upgrade you ext from ext2 to ext3. And you were supposed to wipe everything before you flashed the apps to sd file. As in wipe everything data,cache,dev-cache and ext. Then flash your rom,google-apps,and kernel last. Boot up sign into your account and let it sync. Then boot to recovery and flash the apps2sd zip. After that you should install your apps. And I think you should ruu and reroot. Sounds like you lost root when you did factory reset from with in the phone. Just my opinion. Hope it helps good luck.

clockworkmod restore boot loop?

hey everyone, i'm new here. Sorry if this has been posted before, but i'm having a bit of a problem right now.. I rooted my CDMA hero last night. I made a nandroid backup of my phone before i flashed any roms. I flashed a rom and did something wrong, so i tried to restore my nandroid backup... and i got stuck at the "htc - quietly brilliant" screen. i then found out i'm supposed to wipe all data, so i did, and flashed the nandroid backup again.. same problem. so i flashed a different ROM and it loaded up.. so, again, i wiped all data and tried to restore my stock ROM (google didn't back up contacts when it said they were, so i'm trying to restore to get them back)... and i'm STILL getting the quietly brilliant screen. Any help? Thanks!
When you restore - it does take a while to boot up. How much time did you wait on the white screen? Also, did you get any errors during the nand restore?
no, no errors.. and i waited a pretty long time. Enough to allow the "Quietly Brilliant" screen to flash black, then come back up a few times... i'll do another nandroid restore though and watch for errors. But when i did it before, I didn't see any.
this can happen if you don't have enough space on your sd card during the backup. it has been my experience that nand will not give you an error when it runs out of space, everything appears to have completed as it should, but when you go to restore not everything is there, thus causing the phone not to boot.
also as someone else stated the first boot after a wipe can take a very very long time. 10-15+ mins. (this is not always the case)
my advice (for what it is worth) try a full wipe, and load a new rom. another thing to consider is that most (should be all) roms do not come with gapps built in. once you flash the new rom, before you try and boot it, you should also flash gapps. for instance aospCMod will not load without it.
my sd card actually got messed up before all of this (pulled the battery out when phone froze) so i reformatted it.. it was almost completely empty when I did the backup. It's an 8gb card, too.
yeah i'm actually using a version of aosp, and i installed gapps. i'm currently running it now, but i lost all of my contacts (100+... haha)
I'll charge the phone up, restore and let it be for 10-15 mins like you suggested, when I get home later today. Thanks everyone so much for the help.

I have flashed a bunch of stuff to my g1, and now it won't boot. It goes to fastboot, recovery (I am running that new touch recovery I can't think of the name). I have tried to install the official Froyo update from myTouch 3G, that didn't wotk either. I put DreaIMG.nbh on my Sd card, and fastboot won't recognize it no matter what.
boot into hboot and write down everything on that screen
