[Q] upgrading optimus black help!

Hey guys, i dont know if i posted in the right place but here it goes......
Ok so i jus got the lg optimus black p970 and first thing was first to upgrade as told by t-mobile i could upgrade to 2.3.....
Ok so i use the lg updating software on pc and it says i was being updated from 1.6 -2.1 although in (about phone) it says 2.2.2 bfore and after the s/w upgrade :s
So to cut it short i want to upgrade to 2.3 and i hear i need custom rom and root (only ever used super one click for galaxy tab) meaning lack of exp rooting lg....
will the gingerbreak root work for the lg thats not on 2.3 and is there a solid walkthrough about that you guys can link me too so i can fully understand what i am doing......what i have found doesnt explain much and i dare not risk it....

update......i rooted my phone with gingerbreak 1.2 worked a treat now its jus upgrading to 2.3 any help guys????

come on guys jus a little advice would be great

If you want to root your LG P970 than u should use gingerbreak. There is a really nice topic made by Noejn explaining how to do it in the android development section of Black forum. There are no custom rom's yet but I think that they will appear in a short period.

Gingerbread update still hasn't been released by LG for the Optimus Black. What the T-mobile rep might have meant is that the LG Optimus Black is upgradeable to 2.3, which it is. It's just that the Android 2.3 update still isn't available yet for the OB.
Once custom ROMs are made based on AOSP 2.3 or CyanogenMod, then you can have Gingerbread for your OB.

Hello guys, I got myself a SU660 and my question is that should I update it to ICS? I have the following questions
Do we have an official update? How to install it
Does it have any wifi issues (I saw a thread)?
How is the battery timing, better or worse then 2.3?
Should I go for it?
Also tell me the necessary safety steps before I try messing it up,I am new to all this.

Just connect it to the lg update tool and on the lg website...you are done mate....
ICS is just amazing as described by others...

Ics is way better than gb, even if I have some deep sleep issue and bsod because I am using su660 ics on my p990.

Hi, I have LG Optimus 2x with Stock ICS Rom 4.0.4 v30b and i want to root my device , can any one help me to easily root my device.

AOI toolkit does not work for many people. Only a brief flash of command prompt.

Have you installed .net framework 3.5?

I enabled it in win 8.1 , but still only flash :/

So I got the All-In-One toolkit today and used ver 6. cwm and installed the SU313-BIN311_4ICS su app successfully onto my 2x. so I guess im rooted now???
I have the lg-p990hn running 4.0.4 android v30a from the lg tool
if anyone could point me in the right directions on some good threads or sites that i can learn how to install custom roms etc. or be my "mentor" it would be greatly appreciated.

Download a good custom stock or cm ROM and put it in the external card....go to cwm....then flash it....that's it buddy....life is pretty simple
I would suggest you to avoid flagging new kernels for a few days until you understand the tricks.....
Check for the most popular ones for now....you can see that from the threads by most replied.....and check your pm which i sent you before...there is a mention of a good one

Not a lot, or none... P880G don't even have official JB.
The flash programs don't allow to install P880 Roms cause they have a specific target.
There is no way to unlock bootloader in ICS soo, you can't try CM...
Unfortunatly looks that P880G is limited to the official V10b/c/f, ICS.
Maybe in a near future

Thanks a lot. I am assuming this means CM10 and all other custom roms are not available either. I guess I'll just wait it out, or replace this phone soon.

Couldn't you try the bootstrap roms from dexter ?

Yay Canada. Getting the short end of the stick since 1958! Realllllly regretting buying this phone.
