This is odd. I have just for the first time copied my .mp3 music files from my PC to the SGS but for some odd reason it says this file type is not supported when I try to play them in the music player (I have the stock and Gingerbread ones). The only way I can play them is via YxPlayer which is a multi format video media player. I thought all MP3's were the same. Any ideas?
Edit: Fixed with a re-boot. Still odd why it did this though

Do we have a video player for android? Its disappointing that there is not ONE decent video player for the Android.
theres a default video player with the phone framework. if you have astro file explorer or similar, you find your video on your sdcard and it will play great in a default player. theres also meridian player. if you update to JacHeroski the HTC video player in that ROM is awesome!
with LukLuk you can stream movies online, i think it will play videos off your sdcard too. I havent tried playing anything off the sdcard yet though...
Cinema has a great interface, Meridian works well also (though one of the last updates it messed with my stock music player when I set it not to be the default for the headset buttons, and it's idea of random music playback is a joke - it makes a single shot randomly sorted playlist - instead of randomly selecting upon skipping tracks).. So, I am sticking with Cinema now.
I've had Perception 10.1 on my phone for quite a while now, and overall I like it (that's why its been on my phone for months and months now). But yesterday I got some voicemails that I downloaded from Gmail and they were saved as mp3 format files. The built in music player refuses to play them. It just gives me the message that the music player doesnt support that file format. I thought this was completely strange. So I put a couple of music mp3's on the sd card, and the built in music player wont play those either. Does anybody have a solution to this? What music player wouldnt play mp3's, thats crazy?? I know for a fact that the music player that was in an earlier version of Cog that I was running played music mp3's.
I'm thinking the best solution would be to get a different stock music player apk and then use adb to push it to the phone?
So I decided to start using my phone as a music player and transferred over a few albums that I'd ripped to itunes. The M4a files came over fine as did the album art but not the artist. The real problem is the player won't play the files. Says file type not supported.
I'm using or trying to use the stock player. Any thoughts or guidance?
My searches just found some Galaxy Tab references so I'm asking here.
There is a weird and annoying bug in XXLSC and XXLSZ's stock Music Player (and Google Play Music in XXLSZ).
In XXLSC, all my music was in /sdcard/Music, like it was in ICS (and it was fine there), but the stock Music Player said 'No songs'. Nothing I did (including restarting the app, restarting the phone, renaming the folder to 'music' and 'MUSIC') worked.
A similar problem occurs in XXLSZ. When I turn the phone on, the stock Music Player says 'No songs'. But when I open Google Play Music which is installed by default, 8 of my 12 songs are displayed. When I switch back to the stock Music Player, it also displays the 8 songs. It's really annoying that I can't get all my songs on the app.
What can I do to fix this in XXLSZ?
You can resolve installing Rocket Player, it find all media
I have a completely stock HTC One 801S and I have been trying to copy my music into it. I copied MP3's into the 'Music' folder and it shows when I check with Windows explorer, it also shows up when I use File Manager from the Play Store but the Media player in the phone (the one with the little Headset Icon does not see anything new. The preloaded music shows up and plays but not what I added.
If I use the File Manager from the Play Store and select the music, it plays fine. I also installed Android Music but the same problem, anything I copy into the phone does not show up in any music player in the phone. Restart the phone many times but no luck.
Does anybody have solutions or ideas how to solve this?
Thanks,
JB
Quick update: if I send the files over Bluetooth they show up in the Bluetooth folder in the music player and they play OK in the stock music player. This is a work around because I cannot organize them in folders.
Anybody can help me?
thanks,
JB
