I have installed the Precision Theme on top of my phone running Perception ROM with SuckerPunch. Once this was done, the menu button changed the items it had on the home screen.
It has an Add button for widgits, wall paper button, search button and a notifications button, all of which are kind of useless. It does have a manage apps button, and the settings button which are alright.
Anyway, I guess what I want to know is how to customize this menu. I've done some searching and haven't found much. I did install launch pro, and it changes a couple of the buttons, but it still doesn't make the menu key that useful. If anyone can help, it would be appreciated. Cheers.

Hello,
I'd appreciate to assign the 'volume' window to a hardware button - let's say the Button 6 (Voice Dial, which i never use).
The volume window is the one, you normally get then tapping on the volume icon on top of the screen.
This window should open/close by pressing the hardware button. Once it is open, I can set the actual volume with the Jog Wheel.
Any help is appreciated!
Chris
You can try something: install Wisbar Advance 3 just for trial. i know that you can show that "volume bubble" by pressing buttons on the taskbar, and i know it offers some links in the programs folder for utilities, like switch task etc., but i'm not sure if it brings a new link for that volume bubble (i unfortunately uninstalled WA3 yesterday so i cannot test - maybe someone who has it installed can verify the links so you don't have to install it...)
With Wisbar Advance 3 it works
Chris
hmmm, can you post the content of the link that does that ? or the .lnk file ? so others can do this without WA3...
Another suggestion: AEButton plus
I'm an amateur at all this I've managed to get my nook color rooted, and I've installed a few apps. I've tried softkeys, but I'm not 100% happy with the result. First it wouldn't start on its own after a reboot. I reconfigured it following some directions form another user, and it starts now, but it's still too "busy", with bars and buttons popping up all over.
ALL I WANT is an app or some way to configure a "back" button and "menu" button in the lower black bar where the clock, bettery meter, etc are? Any ideas?
Either that, or is there a way to turn off ALL THE OTHER FUNCTIONS AND DISPLAYS of softkeys EXCEPT the ability to go "back" when pressing the physical "N"/home button, which is how I have it now.
In the end, I don't want any "back" or "menu" buttons on the actual viewable screen except the lower black bar.
THANKS a million!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
not quite what you asked for but i remapped my volume keys for menu and back. works great for my needs. i control volume with a widget now.

hope this solves your frustrations with hotkeys.

Well, if all you want is a back button on the notification bar..... you have one. Not talking about the back button that appears on there either. Just swipe left on the notification bar and it should always work as a back button.
Other than that, there's an app you can try called Button Savior you can get from the Market. It has a small launcher button that appears on the edge of the screen. You can move it around a limited range as you see fit. It's not as complicated or as "busy" as Softkeys.
If you find the visible button not to your liking, you can try this modded version of Button Savior. The button is invisible. You can see where the button actually lies by switching to the Sense UI theme. Then back to the default or Froyo theme to make it invisible once more. The modded version of Button Savior can be found here:

I suggest you try the Market version of Button Savior first.
I'm going to second Button Savior. It hasn't let me down once

You don't have Softkeys set up properly..

I understand what you are looking for. I would like the same thing, but I do not believe there is anything out there for us..
I may end up remapping the volume keys myself.

With SoftKeys you can put the menu and back buttons in the notification area, since ver. 1.0.8 I believe. Then, disable the popper, and you are good to go.

The phones no longer have a menu button, developers will need to update their apps to incorporate a menu into the UI. For apps that haven't done so, you may see a black bar across the bottom of the screen that will open the menu.
However with many of the replacement roms/kernels, alternative methods have been provided. In the case of the rom you linked, try tapping just above the HTC logo on the bottom of the screen. You want to be aligned horizontally with the logo, and just barely tapping on the screen itself.

Thanks very much all!
Today I bought the HTC One with the surprise that it doesn't have a dedicated menu button. I am guessing that sometime in the future this will get remedied somehow, but in the meantime is there a workaround for this?
For example, on my previous HTC Desire phone, I was using Launcher8 as my main launcher however to edit its settings I'd need to press the menu button and then press settings.
Without a dedicated menu button, I can't find anyway to change its settings. So is there any way to get around this? or will I need to root my phone and install a new ROM for this? (which I don't want to do at the moment in case I void my warranty).
look for three dots in a line going downward on the screen, press that for the menu, there is no dedicated hard menu button

Yeah I saw the menu icon in some apps, but I tried it on Launcher8 and the only way to access the settings was from the homescreen itself. There are no menu icons to press to get the settings as far as I am seeing.
EDIT: Actually, nevermind. I found that I can make an icon for it.
This will be fixed when HTC finally delivers 4.2.2. The leaked versions let you assign holding down the home button for settings. They should have done it like this in the first place. The 3 dots thing looks hideous.
I just recently flashed the CM13 and I found out the recent apps has to be accessed using the home button! I prefer the original lollipop button layout so I went searching around and found the 'Button' option in the settings and I was able to customise the home button, power button and the volume rocker but there was no option to customise the menu key to use it to access the recent apps!
I searched the settings for Menu and it showed up there but when I tap it, it goes back to the 'Button' options but it doesn't appear anywhere in there.
What do I do?
Same here, its frustrating. Do you have solved your problem?
