just a quick question on rooting, if you have already upgraded the firmware of the dream to 1.5 before rooting is it still the same process or would it be the same process as the magic, i ask because the tut in the wiki is displaying for firmware 1.
i have the magic atm but my dad has the dream so about to root his phone
please help much appreciated

This is the developer's forum, you should ask all questions in the Q&A section...
The rooting process is the same, you have to downgrade to RC29 using the DREAIMG.nbh as stated in the tutorials.

I know there's a bunch of threads out there on the different cooked ROMs that are available. Being a noobie to this, I was looking for any insight how to go about flashing my very first cooked ROM. I have a Tilt2 that I purchased a little over a month ago with a couple tweeks I mustered up enough confidence to do: crud scraper and some registry edits via rescoe editor. Flashing a ROM seems like there's a whole lot more involved and with my limited knowledge may wind up rendering my phone inoperable for life with one or three missed steps.
Any insights as to the necessary steps .... in a step by step manner preferably .... would be very much appreciated!

the first step is to learn how to read the dozens of threads already open about this exact subject
here's install instructions for Cezar's Continuum rom:

you may need to create a profile on that forum in order to view that thread (not sure)
however - generally speaking, most devs post up a how-to in their own ROM thread so you should be able to follow their's specifically
Search and research
While you're reading, make 10000000000% sure that you read this sentence:
WHEN FLASHING 2.3 YOU ARE FLASHING BOOTLOADERS. THERE IS A VERY REAL RISK OF HARD BRICKING YOUR PHONE. MAKE SURE YOU COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND FOLLOW DIRECTIONS TO THE LETTER.
