checked tegra zone and it said that it was due for release April 2011... just found this sitting around on the market a few hours ago... and it's only 0.99 usd!! the only problem is that it's telling me that it's not compatible w/ my gtab running vegan b5.1. anyone else care to try w/ a different rom or is it just me having this issue?
Requires 3.0+ and it looks to be a subscription bases so it will cost you more then 1 doller
wtf?!? i can't believe i missed that on the description... i might regret saying this a bit later but here goes... GOD I HOPE GTAB ALREADY GETS HONEYCOMB AS THE UPCOMING GAMES ROCK!! *bow*
just read through the description again... it does state that the android version will get exclusive content... one of which allows playing on "free offline" mode -meaning we can still play even if we don't subscribe! of course, half the fun of this game is actually going online and playing with and against other people.
"Although the game is available for Mac, Windows and Linux (all versions play within the same galaxy), the Android version includes several exclusive benefits:
- Single-Player "Free Play" mode: after completing the tutorial, a free-play sandbox sector becomes available, letting you perfect your flying technique and enjoy minigames while offline. This feature will be expanded in future patches, and will permanently be available to anyone with the game installed, regardless of whether they ever choose to subscribe. Enjoy!"
i read somewhere that its a 16 day 1 hr per day demo of the online mode not a full free online mode
I can seem to download it either btw.. going to have to try to get the apk by beta mode from the vendetta forum.
Not just 3.0
It says froyo or better required and states requires android 2.2 and up. So if you can find a way to get the apk then you are ok. I can't get it from android market on my browser because incompatible device is mentioned but it says that about all apps for my gtab and archos 101. Its also not listed on the market on any of my devices so I just have to wait until it is. Looking forward to trying it out.
System requirements and recommendations:
- NVIDIA Tegra-based tablet, 7-inches or larger, preferably running Android Honeycomb (Froyo or better required), such as the Motorola Xoom.
- We recommend 500MB of free SD space. The game itself uses about 250MB, but also self-updates and patches itself outside of the Android Market, so additional free space is advised.
- We suggest installing over Wifi (for the large download), but playing the game itself should use relatively little bandwidth, and works well over most 3G networks. As always, you are responsible for monitoring your own bandwidth usage.

I don't see it on TegraZone
I've read on some websites that they are about to release Vendetta for Tegra soon but I don't see it in the TegraZone app. What I do see is Galaxy on Fire 2. It looks pretty sweet and I can wait another week to get it.
But if you're really wanting Vendetta then a quick Google search for "Vendetta Online apk" gave me several sites with links to the file though.
I don't know about you guys but I personally don't mind waiting for another week to get legit stuff (if we can get it on our gTabs). Who knows what sort of trouble you're inviting into your gTab if you grab one of the pirated ones on the web.
A little bit of caution goes a long way...
I've got it on my G Tab running Ginger Vegan over a week ago. It just shows up toward the top under paid games.
Haven't done the subscription, so all I've really had access to is the training missions. When you sign up you do get a a free 16 day subscription, so will try that sometime in the future. Graphics aren't bad, controls take a little getting used to. Only having 2 touch points does make it a bit of pain at times, but is fixable using the g sensor to steer instead of virtual joystick.
Also has an option for alternet inputs and key mappings, so keyboard may work.
Haven't seen any exclusive content yet, but waiting for some real off line missions to play.
Just resurrecting this thread. Vendetta online is now free in the market. Not only that they promise that itnwill remain free without any subscription costs at all. Check it out.
The only issue im having right now is that the graphic for the space ships arent rendering correctly. I cant see the features of my ship or anyone elses.
Anyone else experience this?
Scott
It's unavailable in the market for Vegan-Tab 5.1. Thank God for Google....

I started playing it today and it is f***ing awesome so far.
Wondering if anyone has played or tried the game as well?
It comes highly recommended
Couldnt find it on the market. But its a great game, more then willing to pay for it. If only i could....
If you see paid other apps in Market and you can't find this game, it's probably because you're running Android 1.5 and you need Android 1.6+.
im running 1.6 and i get 0 search results for zenonia in the market app, and yes i have other paid apps, on the other hand i installed it from the blapk market and it works just fine....
After a few minutes playing it, the game doesn't seem to be that great tbh. No keyboard controls, which is a huge downside for me. Plus, you already have tons of emulators on Android, what makes this better than full roms?

Give it a few more minutes itll grow on you.
The developers want to mainstream the game, not just cater to us. Most newer android phones are all touch screen remember.
This game is brand new, its not from yesteryear like the games the emulators run.
The storyline, gameplay and controls are excellent and as the reviewers have mentioned they have already been more than satisfied with the game.
Is it only me or the game is still not up on the US market? I'm using Market Enabler to access the US T-mobile Market. Can someone help me with this?
Ended up finding a dl for it, but i cant install because im running out of space? it doesnt look like im running out of space anywhere though when i check my phone's internal storage. (SD card has 7 gb free..)

Phew.... for a moment, I thought I was the only one.
Got it working...turns out i actually didnt have enough space -_-...i thought 36 mb would be enough for a 9mb .apk....just deleted some useless apps and now it works great. still dont know why it doesnt show up in market though

Gamevil has noted (check their twitter) the problem and promises to find a workaround for it or to post it at Handango or something. For those who are support the devs, we just need a bit more patience
I'm running the latest version of CyanogenMod with an ext 2 partition on my sd card and I had no trouble installing it.
Not that far into it, but I suspect it may make a lot of bus journeys go quicker.
I think this is the 2nd best game on the G1 for people who thought Final Fantasy 6 (3 in the US) was the best of the series.
Best rpg on android! It run well on my g1
A very good RPG for the android.
I just wish the movement controls on my Droid were not so sensitive.

From Engadget:
You had to know the hacking community was going to have a field day with the Nook Color -- a $249 Android Tablet hiding behind with a thin e-reader coating. Indeed it didn't take long to get rooted nor for Android 2.2 to get installed on there, but that particular hack comes with an interesting potential side-effect: small-scale thermonuclear explosions. Enabling FroYo requires disabling the device's battery monitoring process, the very one that would be responsible for shutting down the device before the cells start overheating and, ultimately, going critical. Yeah it's unlikely, but it could happen. Meanwhile, another hack has enabled the Android Market, but those instructions begin with a very daunting warning: "Very smart people have failed at this. If the following instructions confuse you, you might want to wait until an easier method has been developed."
And, thankfully, there is a much easier way coming, with Barnes & Noble confirming that Android 2.2 will be officially coming to the Nook Color in January. Yes, Android 2.3 is what's happening, but this is still an exciting upgrade as it will finally also allow access to a traditional Android home screen and even enable the Android Market. In other words, it should work just like an Android tablet, Kindle app and all.

And here I was thinking I would return my NC to B&N tomorrow. What to do what to do..
Assuming the report is accurate, I guess B&N really is embracing Android. A happy surprise. If you read the original link, then it says it'll also have the 2.2 launcher, switchable between B&N and stock Android.
Hopefully there is a leak soon I am an impatient person
great great great news. Wow, i might have to pick up a spare. going to get very interesting come January. Also hoping for a nice leak soon
This means I will be buying a Nook Color as soon as this is available in January. It will do everything I want a tablet to do right now.
I still can't get it to run smoothly. My EVO scrolls home screens and web pages much smoother than my NC. Even with SetCPU set to performance, it's just a tad slow. I wonder how it would run with 2.2 on it, sucking more power.
I've debated the two avenues that BN can take with this with friends. Either lock it down like Apple and try to stay ahead of the hacker community and force people to use their products or open it up and cater to all and potentially lose a little profit from forced content purchasing. I personally think the later will actually spur more content sales as the positive reaction to how they are handling all this will spur more device sales and ultimately more content.
I don't think they are loss leading this device, even if it's a very small profit margin. Most people I know buying it are older and they don't care at all about android. They are buying BN books and content and using it like BN planned. I'm assuming here, but it's probably a small percentage of users rooting it and clamoring for full functionality. BN, seemingly to me, are open to this and catering to that smaller percentage. In doing so, they are creating so much more positive hype for their machine leading to probably a WHOLE lot more device sales and publicity overall which will probably get them even more content sales.
The few things I wanted with the device have been unlocked. I'm as happy as can be with it now. If this is true, most likely they are going to implement those changes officially in some form down the road. Better for everybody.
This seems to be win win for everybody. Hopefully when they officially update their software, they take into account many of the elements that have been unlocked and why people are unlocking those functions.
I think that the day they release 2.2 with a vanilla launcher option we should all buy a book or 2 from the b&n ebook store to show our appreciation.
I think this is important to note:
" I was told that Nook users may not have access to the full market."
(This is a quote from the SmartPhoneMag.com article referenced by Engadget).
I don't believe it will have the standard market on it - it will still be B&N's proprietary market.
I hope they enable my location.

I'm not sure about that. I think it will be a non-copy protected market, or no paid apps. Unless they make users do the normal Android setup wizard, you don't tie your Nook to a particular account.
We'll just have to see though, as we can speculate anything (and often do!)

How would they do that? Off a WiFi location? No GPS, and no cell function kind of limits the feature.
For Pete's sake B&N! Just give us 2.2 with a home switcher to your B&N home Screen and FULL Market Access, gmail app, etc....
Enough already with this proprietary garbage!

I'm pretty sure it's Google limiting market access, not B&N. According to Android's use, you can't have the Market (or any other Google apps) installed without 3G access, which the Nook doesn't have. The other companies who have skirted this requirement have gotten into trouble over it.
Marketing 101: How do you win the Tablet wars, market it first as a $250 ereader/tablet, then 2 months later release the update that turns it into a full Tablet/ereader right after CES which this year is all about Tablets all costing twice as much tied to carriers.
Bunch of BS! Google gives a crapload of stuff for free and they cover this tiny little 3g thing. I don't get it... the more users out there the more downloads and the more revenue for Google. Granted with the 3G access they can somehow figure out who did what, but there isn't a single person here who's used the market to download only free stuff.

Sure about that?
I can say for one I have never paid for an app.
Never pirated one either.
There are plenty of free things out there...I have no need for anything paid.
To say nobody downloads only free stuff is just plain wrong.
Not to say I won't ever buy something, but haven't needed to yet.
I think I am going to wait and see with this market thing. Full market...I will buy for sure. Something else...will think about it after root for the new version is out.

as they said in "Life of Brian" - there's always one
I spoke today with a Barnes & Noble representative who showed me the forthcoming update on his company Nook which is slated for this January. The 2.2 Android update is a game changer and literally turns the e-reader into a near full Android tablet device.
The 2.2 update, or overhaul if you prefer, will give you access to a retooled Android Market, the typical Android home screen and even has pinch zooming with the browser. The Android Market app was still under development and was not on the device to see. I was told that Nook users may not have access to the full market. The Nook I looked at had apps loaded via the SD card slot and seemed to run fine. The device will still give you access to all of your Nook material via the current interface that will be swicthable for the user.
The update addresses performance and battery life concerns according to the rep I spoke to. The update on his Nook was still in beta so it lacked some polish but seemed to work smoother than the stock device. The graphics performance still seemed sluggish even with 2.2 when scrolling through magazines and web pages.
The best news is that Nook Color owners will be able to use their new Nooks as a full tablet device that rivals any other Android tablet currently in the consumer arena. Even iPad users may turn envious at the smaller form factor and $249 purchase price.

2.2 doesn't suck more power. Its actually more power efficient and at the same time faster. Froyo has JIT amongst other things that gave it a significant performance boost over Eclair.

Who cares. We already have a full market with the hacks available based on Droid X. But Vanilla 2.2 with a kernel source changes the game.
bluetooth
If the rumors are true about bluetooth hardware being there, then Google could open the full market to us Nookers. All they would have to do is enable pairing between the nook and a cellphone via bluetooth, and now you have 3G.
I've done all the market hacks and tried all the tricks but im wondering why most of the actual 3d games i want to get to show off the muscle that this great little tegra 2 tablet can flex.
it seems like the games i want on here right now "pocket legend" and "rocket bunnies" don't show up in the market and I was looking forward to "dungeon defenders"
I think there needs to be a big push of actually finding a way to get the full market that my Nexus One gets...
This is mostly why i bought the tablet, and thanks to all the great devs here we've been able to get "almost" everything working (Thanks roebeet, et all)
maybe we can make a nice thread with some different market fingerprints and post market results? (or any other suggestions)
I am currently running the latest Vegantab beta4 fyi.

Well, as the guy who has tried all the market fingerprints and build.prop stuff and wrote the thread on the "full" market fix, I can tell you with some confidence that Pocket Legends and some of the other 3d games are a known issue - I have tried changing every build.prop setting to match that of my Nexus One (which finds those apps with no problem), and there are still a handful of 3d games that will not show up. I have also found that if you change too many of the settings in build.prop, you will eventually bootloop your G Tablet because Android itself gets confused about what it's running on.
You can find my notes on the subject in my posts on my thread in this forum on Full Market Fix.
In summary - the issue seems to be more than just using a different Market Fingerprint. That does not solve the problem, though it may make a few addition or a few less items show up. Right now, by most of my metrics, we have at least 95% of the items in Market showing up.
BTW, I have seen posts stating that the work around for Pocket Legends has been to download directly from their site, though I have not done so myself.
My understanding is that the CyanogenMod ROM for G Tablet does not require the Maket Fix and has no issues with missing items in Market because of the way the ROM image is built. I think the person to ask about this is bekriebel who built CyanogenMod for G Tablet - he can explain the concept of release-keys better than I can and how Market supports it out of the box on the CM ROM.
Unfortunately, it's a bit outside of my time availability right now to work much more on this, having already spent a day or more figuring out what I figured out. But please keep me in the loop if you figure anything else out!
I just thought it would be good to have a good constructive conversation about why else it might not be working... so the build.prop isnt the thing then.
its sad that 3d games are not showing up when this device was built for 3d gaming!
Pocket legends shows up on mine. got it installed...lemme try the other one..
EDIT: Strange they arent showing up anymore. when i was on Cyanogen 6.1 i Had them showing up. then again I didnt have the new market that looks like xbox live. strange...

this is what I'm refering to its so spotty. there is this great drawing app that i purchased that id love to use on the tab called "sketchbook mobile" but its not showing up for me either.
I know there have been lots of people working on it but it would be great if we could somehow compare market search results on some of them to find the best?
also if cyanogenmod has more working downloads is there anyway that the market from cyanogenmod can be rolled into Vegantab?
Dungeon Defenders is amazing its based on the unreal engine and really shows off this hardware.
If we are patient I am sure there will be many amazing games in the future for this CPU/chipset.
I had originally intended to only use the gtab until a good windows7 tab was released but after seeing Dungeon defenders on this system I seriously doubt any windows based tab will be able to come close to this tab for some time and I am sure the cost of a system like that will be much higher.
U need to check out this game to understand what I mean.

Agreed, DD plays perfectly on the gtab. Hopefully this is just the beginning of things to come once Honeycomb is in place and developers start making apps with tablets in mind.
Check out Amazon. They have an App store now. Supposed to have a free paid app every day. I got Angry Birds Rio just a minute ago...
A free paid app?
EDIT: OH, I see what you mean... cool
I love the amazon app store, now we will have access to all the paid apps with no hacks (assuming the developers of the apps make the move.)
Not available in my geographic location..... The wild, freezing tundra of the great white north. I suppose after today's seal hunt, and before I start today's grapple with that damn polar bear, I'll find some third party site to download the apk from.
I wonder why they are charging for regular angry birds and other free apps on it when you can get them for free on the google android market
I am more than pleased w/ the Amazon app store. Took me 5 mins to set it up first thing this am, and within 5 mins it recognized my G tab with no issues.
Works much better than the Android market place. No need to do Market fixes when they do updates.

It'll be interesting to see how they're market handles multiple devices and frequency for updates.
Only negative I've seen so far, is that the apps seem to take quite a bit longer from amazon. Uninstalled AB and then downloaded and installed from android market, then downloaded and installed from amazon market, took 3 almost 4 times longer to download from amazon.
Angry Birds RIO
I also downloaded the Amazon app, and then at the top Angry Birds RIO showed for free download. Had some initial issues with my password, I could not get my regular Amazon password to work same as my mobile.. But all is well, and Angry Birds RIO plays great... I look forward to their future fee offerings, and I also found it works a lot better than Marketplace.

Anyone running Amazon Appstore on stock rom GTablet?
It works great on my VEGAN-tab but when I try to install it on my stock GTablet, I receive an error: "There was a temporary error logging in. Please try again in a few moments."
I tried again a few moments later over and over again all day, and still no luck. I couldn't even download the app properly...had to transfer via USB. Only to get this error message.
But in my VEGAN-tab, downloaded, installed and ran absolutely perfectly.
Anyone else having this problem? Any ideas why?

I noticed that as well. I am thinking (hoping) that it is due to the fact that it just launched and they are swamped a bit. Will know better after a couple weeks.

I used the same amazon account on all 3 of my devices and anything I purchased or was available for install on all 3 devices. So I guess you can install an app that you purchased on as many devices that you own without paying separately for each device, which is how it should be. You paid for the software and should be able to use it on any device you wish within reason. +1 for amazon! I hope they don't change this.
Tank Hero
For those that couldn't get tank hero on the upgraded market with Vegan you can now get it with the Amazon Market, gonna search for a few other things that were missing from the Android Market. Me Likey!!

Not sure what the problem was, but a factory reset seemed to clear it up.
I am definitely excited about the Amazon app store. It looks like a great alternative for tablets without Market access. But beware that one-click ordering...sometimes too easy is not a good thing!
It is the whole app and website that is slow. Every part of the process takes longer than Market. However, there are a number of things I can't find on the Market that I could at Amazon. Kudos overall.
Even if it stays slower I am liking it. It is not like I will install software every day. I found it nice that I could go to the app website make the purchases and then at my convenience install them on my device.
I don't have my GTab yet so I am really living in the slow lane with my venerable G1

Yes, I am as well.
After browsing around, I am willing to trade the speed for truly functional search. The ability to filter the listings alone makes it a winner over the Market.
The market has a Soonr Workplace app, which allows collaboration of work. Has anyone tried it yet, and does it allow annotation of all kinds of files with the S Pen, which is what the Soonr app is supposed to do?
When i looked into it, it seams to be a trial software package, after 30 days its a months fee....ouch.

Hmm...thanks! Someone on the market commented that it's a virus or something.
Well, I'm hoping the Soonr app comes out soon as it's free! Or if there are some mods/apps that allow annotating of microsoft documents with the S Pen.
Its free because its a trial period, then you pay monthly.

i think no , the soonr app for the Galaxy note is called Soonr scribble and its "comming soon" according to samsung , they have videos of that app on youtube , but i just couldnt find it anywhere , guess we will have to wait.
on the other hand , u can annotate PDFs using ezpdf , i find it not that productive and quite annoying sometimes with ezpdf (due to small issues that require tweaking) , hope soonr scribble will be the best all in 1 annotation app for the GNote
Yes, it's quite cumbersome and altogether exasperating trying to annotate using EZPDF. It's great for just about everything except that!
You know what? I was poking around the S Choice app today when I saw Soonr Scribble listed for sale. There was a note to register online* for the free version (go to www.soonr.com/galaxynote) of the app, but when I did so, I received the message that I will be informed once the app is publicly released.
I hope it comes sooner rather than later, pun intended!
BTW, you need to click on the phone rather than the red register free trial icon on the top right corner. That's for Soonr Workplace I believe.
been a wild goose chase trying to get the soonr scribble. when i registered earlier, all i got was the other soonr software and was told that i would be able to get soonr scribble soon.
just a couple of days ago, i saw it on the samsung apps costing several dollars with a caveat that if i register at soonr, i would be able to download a free copy. but when i wrote in to soonr about the free copy, their response was that they do not know when samsung and market is gonna release it and it is beyond their control. Plus they did not address my concern about where I could download a copy, as samsung had said. What a confusion.
I don't mind paying for the app but just needed to get a trial version first lest it be a junk piece of software. With market at least there is a 15 min trial period but currently scribble is on samsung apps which does not have a trial period. right?
You're right. I don't mind paying as well but want to try it our first. Thanks for sharing your experience with us
Please everybody who have tried Soonr app, give their review or just opinion about the features of this application! I hope that it can annotate ppt and pptx files directly with S pen so that Galaxy Note can be used as a general tool for presentation.
Hi guys.
Soonr Scribble allows you to annotate in any major Microsoft Office format (.doc/x, .xls/x, .ppt/x) as well as .PDFs.
The app is free for a limited time. Signing up for a free 30 day trial account will include 5GB of storage and allow 2 seats and 2 guests. You can always upgrade storage and team-sizes to fit your needs.
We expect to full go live within a week or so and will keep everyone updated.
Thanks for the reply, Soonr! I can't wait! It's been announced on CES.
Hmm...I just chatted with Ryan on Soonr's website and he says it should be out end of the month. Yay!
Now it's been the end of the month, but still no news about Soonr Scribble for Galaxy Note. Why it takes too long time?
I don't know either. Smoothing out some bugs I suppose...
Hope they keep to their word. I've been checking S Choice and Samsung Apps twice a day for the past few days.
Soonr Scribble
I was just checking on the market to see if it showed up, IT DOES!!!!
But... not letting me download it yet, says its not compatible with any of my devices:
check out the link and let me know if you can download:
https://market.android.com/details?...t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5zb29ucnNjcmliYmxlIl0.
confirmed "No compatible device found"
Soonr Scribble Now available on Android Market, Get it while its Free!!!!
Once installed, you will need to create an account with them using an email address before you can use the app, have not used the app yet so cant comment on how good or bad it is.
Thanks, Hasc. I'm the OP and I downloaded the app this morning! It's available on the android market as well as via Samsung apps.
Before you can use the app, it will download a What is Soonr.ppt file (7.3MB). It took me a while to realise that (You'll also need to register for an account first.) So you do need to have your Wifi or 3G turned on. Be forewarned that if it's free Wifi that you're using, the downloading can take quite a while.
After you have scribbled on the file, you will also need Wifi or 3G to upload (=update) the file. I chose "Save for offline use in settings", and it updates the file once I turn on my Wifi.
I think the app works fairly well though I would have preferred a tutorial or a more helpful screen than what you see when you first start out. I'll also like to see an eraser instead of just an undo button, as I can't make changes after the file is updated. Scribble to text conversion will also be great, and I hope that's not a pipe dream!
Any thoughts about this app? I haven't used it much, frankly, so I would like to hear from others.
Had a quick play with it on the GNote (Scribble version) and it does work well and seem useful BUT I personally think the pricing is too high (unless you are guaranteed to use it frequently enough to justify it of course).
I might be interested if there was a "per GB" pay as you go model, but wouldn't be using it enough to justify EUR 9.99 a month minimum.
Uninstalled already!
so far i have *not* found it to be user friendly...i could not seem to get it to work by just playing around.
there seems to be a battery drain with the program too.
after one day, i uninstalled it. i was particularly disappointed as i was very much looking forward to the program.
