Anyone seen a better Calendar widget than the default?

Depends on your opinion I guess .. I use retro date (part of retro clock widget) which to me is better, says the date and uses two spots. When I click on it it goes to calendar. Some may not like it because it doesnt display the days events or to-dos, or w/e is on the calendar but to me its short and simple..

You have a couple of choices with hero.
If you have not tried the calender widget that is included in the free app "Quick Calendar" you might take a look. I preferred it to the stock one.
I'll go for quick calendar. it displays two upcoming events.
Has Quick Calendar's widget UI improved? Last time I used it, it was just a brick, not much better looking than the default widget.
I'm surprised it's taken this long to create a calendar widget that displays agenda in a non ****ty way.

I think Hero's calendar is much better than the standard android one

That solves nothing for those of us that would rather not run Hero.
However you may have a better time getting a dev to port the hero widget to cupcake then getting one to write one from scratch. The Hero widgets are very nice IMO.
I would love to see the Hero widget ported over. I cant believe no one has made a better calendar widget. I need something that will show three or more events at a time. Quick Calendar looks better then it used to but I always get force closes from it. I also hate how the widget's size depends on how long the event name is.
The anitime widget it nice just doesnt show events but it shows the entire month, and the clock is nice to and comes with it

Has anyone ported any of the Hero widgets over? That would be nice.

Full calendar doesn't do much for me, especially a clock when you already have a clock in the top bar. More events is what I am looking for. The default widget only shows 1 event.
I use Agenda View in the Calendar. Can anyone tell me how to swiftly jump to the next month's Agenda. Now I have to switch to the month view mode, then click a day on the month, and then come back to the Agenda View. It is very inconvenient.
I use the tCalendar Widget.
Puts the date and day of the week as the Calendar icon. Perfect for what I need.
Have to agree with those that say the stock widget stinks - I'm also in need of one that would show a few more events.
What bugs me is there was a widget like that when Cupcake was first released, and I can't find it anywhere now.

Again, not a good solution for those of us who would rather not use home replacements. All the people are looking for in here is a widget. I've used sweeter home and its very amazing, but the lag that comes with home replacements I'd just rather not have.

agreed. lag = bad
AniWidget has both a plain "Calendar" and a "Google Agenda" components, but the latter one is just a clone of the stock widget, with fancier transparency. Hardly worth the $3.
So, with widgets now in full swing, I thought I would find out from you folks, which widgets could you not live without????
Personally, I love the FML widget. I look at it several times a day. I love how its customizable to fit any theme! Im sure I would be VERY UPSET to lose this one!
I also love the Android and Me widget and the 10,000 things to know widget.
So what about you guys?
def the bbc news widget for me. (being british)
really hope to see a decent sms widget, facebook widget, and contacts widget - bit like the ones on the hero.
from hero i cant live without the messaging preview widget
that thing is the best
dont have to keep going into the app now to preview a message to know if i feel like responding or not...
it lags the phone a little but oh well...
Flipclock with weather from hero
I've never got the hype with widgets - they seem to kill my battery and tbh I can just click one icon on my homescreen for whichever app I like.
Really the only widgets I use are the retro clock/date, wifi on/off and brightness. That is in addition to the music and google in another window.

I'm with you on this one. Though it is good to see next appointment in your calendar on the home screen. So calendar is the only widget that I use.
Okay I am slightly new to the theming scene and have been tinkering around with my HTC Desire 2.2 with ADW Launcher, Go Launcher and Launcher Pro. It is safe to say I have ADD with the look of my phone.
Anyway and perhaps its just me, but I have noticed my battery draining faster since I have been using icons packs lately with desktop visualizer. Which basically make each icon a widget right? Now it is my understanding that widgets drain the battery. The stock launcher is on blank, so nothing is running on it, I also use minimal widgets to try and reduce battery drain too.
But I thought the widgets used by icons shouldn't add to power usage as they aren't "running" is that correct?
Thanks for any input!
I've been using samsung calendar clock widget for a week or so now and I've noticed considerable battery drain!!
I've removed the widget and everything's back to normal.
Has anyone experienced something like this?
I mean you would expect samsung widgets to be perfectly optimized for their own devices..
Well, widgets do drain bit of battery, set them to less frequent or manual sync. Also, I find the phone laggy after using 3-4 big widgets.
if u using only samsung calendar clock widget and there a BIG difference on ur battery drain it's not normal.
I think it also depends on a lot of other stuffs like, your firmware, your rom, and what kind of widget etc...
I've tested and tested and it's definitely samsung widget (calendar clock).
With it, battery drains in 6-7 hours with normal usage, and in battery check, it shows Android OS more than 50 percent..
I'm on JVK stock rom..
Maybe samsung has not yet finished optimizing their widgets or something..
I guess I'll have to use similar apps for now.
Anyone knows good apps/widgets like that?
Any help appreciated!
Two separate issues, I have found after swapping my Nexus S (horribly slow since -stock!- Jelly Bean update) to the -really great!- Razr i:
- I prefer Launcher8 to the stock launcher, it is very snappy, good looking on my Razr i.. but I really miss that beautiful Circles widget. If I try to add it to the Launcher8 homescreen, it says '3d party launchers not supported', very annoying. Any workaround/ solution for this problem; to install circles widget (native on the Razr i) to 3d party launchers?
- I had Picasa sync of my Gallery on my Nexus S (really don't know when it came, how I have got it, thought it was stock), and I miss it on my Razr i. Any way to sync my Picasa (or now Google+) albums with the phone gallery?
Any help/ idea/ solution is welcome; thanks in advance.

Try This one. It has several clock widgets including a Circles look-alike.
Motorola's circle widget is bound to the Motorola Launcher, so you have to chose a similar looking widget from the store (admitting that none of them is as good as the Motorola one )

Yes, thanks, I have seen One More Clock Widget Free, as well.. But, 1, it is HUGE, 2, according to the reviews it is a battery killer.. So I think I better stay w/o the beautiful Circles widget, on Launcher8..
BTW: anybody, any suggestion, idea about my other issue: Picasa web album sync on the Razr i? Would love to have it again..
Isn't Picasa tied to Google+ now? At least, Picasaweb is. Maybe you should try logging into the Google+ app in order to sync your photos? You can disable notifications and stuff from Google+ in the app settings in case you don't need that much integration.

Motorala decided to disable the picasa sync in the stock motgallery.apk. Why? I don't know
you can use the original android gallery instead if you are rooted:

I use the just pictures app from the market. works fine and is free.
greetz.
Thanks for info; and for the tip!
My solution to get a similar Circles in Apex Launcher was to install UCCW then a skin named UCCW Skin - MotoBlur Clock. It's not perfect but works for me.

Thanks! But: any skin with more hotspots (weather, alarm, battery), just like the real one?

Can be; and it looks like.. but; there is no launcher like Launcher8 (https://play.google.com/store/apps/...?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5seC5sYXVuY2hlcjgiXQ..), it looks, works great on my Razr i.. so I have to do without circles widget..:crying:
Actually, IMHO this is the one getting closest to The Original: Rings Digital Weather Clock (https://play.google.com/store/apps/...lkZ2V0cy5idWJibGVkaWdpdGFsd2VhdGhlcmNsb2NrIl0.).. but it drains battery.

The skin I mentioned is locked, but you can make your own in skin in UCCW, I will make a comment to the developer to see if he can include more hotspots, which are useful though.
EDIT: My bad... I didn't see the developer includes a link to the uzip (which you can modify), I will download it to put more hotspots in weather and battery.

Hi,

I don't know if the apk works on JB because I use the JustPictures app now.
