[Q] How are /sdcard and /mnt/sdcard managed or shared? - Nook Color General

Can someone please explain how an external uSDCard and the internal /sdcard storage is managed by Android. If I insert a card, does it automatically usurp the internal storage for music etc?
I'm using Nookie Froyo.

I too would be interested in getting an answer to this question.

[Q] Is there a way to mount only the External SD card without Internal SD?

as the topic tittle says
Just trying to find out if there's a way to mount only the External SD card without Internal SD?
whenever will pull down the status bar, and hit mount
it always mounts both the internal and external SD
whenever i do that the apps in the phone that requires internal SD are stuck
so it'll be best to be able to move files around without interfering with the installed apps running off the Internal SD
Have you found anything yet?
I'd like this too, so I could play music on my car from the external sd.
E: Ah now found an app, Multi Mount sd-card does it.

[Q] Help: External SD unreadable after flashing ROMs

Hi,
What would be making the files on my external SD invisible to my phone?
When I was running stock 2.1 JH7 on my Captivate I was able to access files on my 16gb class 2 external SD card just fine.
However after flashing Cognition 3.04 and then Perception I am unable to see any of the files on the external SD card. When I browse to /sdcard/sd the file browser reports accurate memory stats (3.67 gb used) but say no files. Via USB I'm able to mount both internal and external SD cards and perform file management via my PC (such as copying files from one internal to external and vice versa).
I have removed the external SD card from my phone and formatted it fat32 and copied files back onto it and reinstalled in my phone and still can't see any files on the card from the phone.
Shot in the dark... Is there an issue with the lagfix file system and the fat32 on the external sd?
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
thanks,
Fred
check /sd/external_sd
This happened to me just once in my last 50 flashes....only thing I did was reflash and it started working. Sorry this doesn't help since you already flashed again and still have the issue.

That led me to the right spot. On my phone my external SD is at:
/sdcard/external_sd
Where /sdcard/ is the internal SD card
What then is /sdcard/sd ? This is where I looked before for external SD data... does the path change with various ROMs?
think they changed the mount points of the external sd from 2.1 and 2.2 around a bit
in 2.1 the external is /sdcard/sd
in 2.2 its /sdcard/external_sd

Thanks again.
/sdcard/sd is still on my system but I can't see any files. Oh well.
yeah you will still see a /sdcard/sd folder in your explorer but that /sdcard/sd is not pointing to your external sd card after the froyo update. My guess is that they made a directory /sdcard/sd for backwards compatibility with older apps.

[Q] /mnt/emmc Instead of External SDCard?

Hey everyone,
So I was having issues with SD Cards earlier but I reflashed a different kernel and then went to Nightly build #28 of CM7 and everything seems to be alright.
My only issue is my External SD card is mounting to /mnt/emmc/ instead of /sdcard (or wherever its supposed to go) and that is giving me trouble with apps that require SDCard, as they think I dont have one.
For example, my camera app wont let me save pictures because "I dont have an SD Card", same with TapTap Revenge 4 etc.
How can I mount my external into /mnt/sdcard/ or wherever it should be? :|
Thanks.
If i remember well, this is the new way the external sdcard is and will be mounted. I have it that way too and never got problem. Can't you save on the internal SD ?

Idk, I was just having problems with my SD Cards, so I'm not really sure.
It says
SD Card : unavailable
Internal 1.78gb / 1.87 gb (Its supposed to be 16gb?)
Additional Storage : /mnt/emmc
5.44gb / 5.55gb (partitioned in recovery.. its an 8gb)
and whenever I try to download anything it says I dont have an SD Card. :\

[Q] Manage internal storage partitions and mount

Hi there.
Is there any way to use all of the internal 8GB as a single partition, so it will be all recognized as "internal memory", and then mount my 32GB microSDHC card as /sdcard?
Right now i have:
External microSDHC Card mounted as /mnt/sdcard/external_sd
"USB Storage", which is a 6GB partition of the internal 8GB, mounted as /sdcard
"Device memory", which is a 2GB partition of the internal 8GB
What i want is:
"Device memory", with the whole internal 8GB
External microSDHC Card mounted as /mnt/sdcard
Is this possible?
I've been searching for this the whole week and couldn't find anything about it, only got some tips that Cyanogen Mod can partition the internal storage or something.
I'm currently using the stock 2.3.3 ROM and Semaphore Kernel.
Thanks in advance.
Nobody knows how can i do it?
(aka bump)

Anyone knows at least if it is possible to do with Cyanogen? Or any other custom rom?
Thanks.
