Hello everyone,
New user here. Have had my Rogers Captivate for a few months now. So far I've been able to find everything I needed by searching the site.
I do have a quick question though. I recently tried backing up my phone through rom manager (Backup Current Rom) and found that because I was on Rogers Froyo 2.2 that I had a patched recovery file. I then found the thread on replacing it with the 2e version, but in doing so I must have messed something up and my phone would not boot.
I proceeded to use the Odin One Click installer to flash my phone back to stock 2.2, but soon realized this was AT&T version. I found the stock Rogers 2.2 and used Odin to flash to that.
My problem is that I now have an AT&T boot screen show up for a couple seconds when the phone is started up. Not really a big problem, but would like to get it back to how it originally started.
So I did some searching and found the thread Here on how to get it back.
I read most of the thread and came across this post.
So my question is, can I just download that md5 file, flash it with Odin (PDA) and I will be back to how the phone originally booted?
Sorry for the long winded post, but I just want to make sure that I get this right and don't brick my phone.
Any help is appreciated, and as I said, I have searched extensively but it wasn't 100% clear to me if this is the approach I should take.
Thanks a lot!
Take a look at this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11039455#post11039455
This is incredibly easy
I used it a couple of times without any problems.
Maybe this I896 bootlogo from the op of the "get rid of AT&T logo on your I9000 rom" thread could be a nice replacement for the at&t logo.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=458488&d=1291752110
I saw that thread but it says for i9000 based roms.
I am running the Stock Rogers 2.2 rom so I didn't think I should follow that guide
So can anybody shine some light on my original post? I'd really like to get rid of the AT&T logo on boot, and with the luck I've had so far, I want to make sure I understand this 100% before trying anything.
Thanks for the help
Hiya guys.
I've searched the forum as much as I can to try and solve my problems and it's got me so far but I can't find any more information to get my phone back working properly so though I'd bite the bullet and make a thread. If the information I require is actually lurking out there then I apologise just please point me in the right direction.
Here is my story.
Right I rooted my device through some video I followed on youtube (I cant post the link)
I think it successfully (as far as I know) rooted my SGS.
So with my newly rooted SGS I downloaded Darky's ROM and followed the instructions in the guide to flash it onto the device.
In the end it failed and the phone powered off and wouldn't power back on.
Panic Ensued.
I have since got my phone back into the download mode and flashed froyo 2.2 (I downloaded from some link on this site) it said it was successful but now it won't boot past the Samsung Galaxy S logo.
Please help?
Thanks alot in advance.
try to do a factory reset in recovery (sometimes it works)
and another thing, it may be that the froyo rom you downloaded was bad or something..
try to use this one with odin if the factory reset wont work. i know this one works.
Flash as PDA using Odin with repartition enabled and 512 pit
http://sourceforge.net/projects/teamhacksung/files/galaxys/GT-I9000_FROYO_FULL_PDA.tar/download
that one fixed my friend phone when something slimier happened to him.
Right thanks alot mate don't know what the hell happened but left it off and just turned it on and now it's working fine!
Scared me a little that I nearly bricked it but I really wanna try installing a new rom but don't wanna break it again :S
Just read the flash instructions and you won't have any problems.
Sent from hell to take your soul
When you flash it can take up to 10 minutes for the 1st boot, so go have a cup of tea and be patient!
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
Ah right that was my first time so it might have just been me being impatient and thinking it wasn't working because it had been broken.
Also just wondering, the link I downloaded this Froyo ROM from (from another thread on here, can't find it now) is it custom or stock?
Heres some details...
Firmware version
2.2.1
Kernel version
2.6.32.9
[email protected]#36
The phone feels much snappier than before!
I'm new to all this ROM/flashing bees wax so just wondering.
Thanks muchly!
If its from some thread on here its custom some how some way (unless you just changed the kernel - which is speedmod - a very popular one - from your details.

Yeah it's off here from a thread I was reading on how to sort my phone being stuck in download mode.
Is it alot faster than the original rom I was running then?
Hi guys,
I got my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Tab from someone who had the Team Overcome ROM.
Today, I decided to sell it to someone so I wanted to remove all my info by wiping all the stuff out and somehow I messed up things and now I am stuck with this page when I go into recovery. I tried to flash other ROMs that were 2.2 ROMs and even though they flash fine, they just keep on restarting every time the display goes to sleep or if I just touch the power button.
Anyways, below is a picture of the screen that I get when I go to Recovery and I do not know where to start from to get everything back to normal before I can sell this device.
I'd appreciate some direction and some help.
Thanks
You need to restock with the Froyo safe stock rom from overcome. Just putting other froyo versions on with recovery won't work as you have gingerbread bootloaders...
Try reading before doing these things or you will end up with a brick...
you need to restock it all over again and word of advice use the new overcome rom called Kratos with gingerbread based rom it's a lot fast and stable ..

How can I restock? I'd appreciate if you guys can provide the proper link.
I've searched but I haven't found the answer to this.
I have a nexus s and I don't have any problems like this. CWM does the business for any rom. No rom alters it. That doesn't seem to be the case with the galaxy s and darky's rom.
My wife has a galaxy s i9000 and I put Darky's rom on it for her ages ago. When I installed Darky's rom it changed clockwork mod to a darky specific version of it. Recently when I was running MIUI she decided she'd like me to flash that for her too. I did but I ended up with real problems as the darky mod recovery was overwritten. I can't remember exactly what happened but I had to save the phone with download mode and odin and it was a bit of a headache - I thought I'd bricked the phone.
She's back on darky's rom but fancies a shot of cyanogen mod, but I'm worried if I flash it I'll end up with the same problem. can anybody tell me what is going on here. If I flash CM will it leave me with a messed up recovery???
Before you change to a new ROM, Make a back up using Titanium Backup or similar app.
Do factory reset and maybe a flash through odin, I dont know why your having these issues, Darkys ROM can be deadly sometimes, Thats why i stopped using it.
As long as you still have download mode, everything will be ok
Im currently using Safestrap, and made the really stupid mistake of flashing over the stock rom -_- and now im having problems flashing anything. I origionally flashed OctOS over the stock rom and when i rebooted the phone it didnt even get to the Welcome Screen, just sat at a black screen for ever. So then I flashed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2343355, and it gets to the Welcome Screen and just sits there for ever...
Im currently creating a partition and going to try flashing to a partition, where can I download the Verizon Galaxy S4 Stock Rom?
I did create a backup of the Stock Rom but when it was flashed over it Wiped the phone and I lost the backup

Unfortunately you've posted in the wrong forum, this the the forum for the S4 Active, a very different phone than the S4. You'll have more luck if you post in the Verizon S4 Forum.
