I'm struggling with trying to get the dalingrin loaded on my nook color, followed instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11535969&postcount=151 to flash my nook from stock. Running CM7 build 14 and everything is working as expected, however i can't seem to load the kernel update. Regardless of the file i load using clockworkrecovery 3.0.0.6, the following sequence appears every single time:
Install .zip from card, installed successfully. Removed sd card, rebooted:
"touch the future of reading"
Nook symbol
Install Failed / Please power off and back on to try again...
Power off / on
Boots into CM7 normally, but under setting -> about -> 2.6.29-omap1 [email protected] #22 which I believe indicates that dalingrin kernel was not loaded, right?
Sounds like something isn't overwritten properly in the boot record..
Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks!
installed this file:
update-CM7-dalingrin-OC-sd-030811.zip repeated with cm 7 release 12, 13 and 14. same issues.
Bump... can someone please help. I must have missed something trivial or boot loader didn't overwrite properly. Very strange. Any advice would be most appreciated.
My suggestion is to check out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=987735 and update you sdcard to CWR 3.0.1.0. I've had serious issues the past week when trying to use the 3.0.0.6 CWR with some of this newer stuff going around.

Updating to new recovery may work. May also try this if you haven't already. If you are using the CM governor or setcpu, try setting it to boot at 800. I am not sure if the fail to install is a speed issue or what. If it boots you can tweak the speed.
I updated my boot sd-card to CWM 3.0.1.0 and installed the latest kernel again. I don't believe any changes were made. Same sequence: install, reboot, i get nook symbol and failed to boot, reboot and cyanogenmod gingerbread loads as expected. Under Kernel I see: 2.6.29-omap1 [email protected] #3. Mod version Cyanogenmod-7-03112011-NIGHTLY-encore
Did the latest kernel install despite the first reboot issue?
Thanks!
Are you wiping the devlik-cache in the advanced menu of Clockworkmod after flashing the kernel?
Yes, wiping both devlik cache and well as standard cache, but before flashing kernel. Does it matter if I flash before vs after flashing? I can overclock to 1.1ghz using setcpu, not sure if that means install was successful. Still trying to figure out it the kernel version i posted reflects the latest kernel. thanks
Hi,
In your first post, you mention using this file:
"installed this file:
update-CM7-dalingrin-OC-sd-030811.zip repeated with cm 7 release 12, 13 and 14. same issues."
That appears to be the file for CM7 version that will run from an SDcard.
I believe you want the version that runs on CM7 installed to the internal memory
or emmc:
update-CM7-dalingrin-OC-emmc-031311.zip
Settings->about tablet reports kernel version: "2.6.29-omap1 [email protected] #4"
The Settings->CyanogenMod settings->performance->CPU Settings->MaxCPU freq
can then be set to 1100MHz. The stock CM7 kernel can be set to 9xxMHz.
Sounds like you may have solved it already, otherwise, hope this helps!

Hi everyone I really hope someone of you can help me with this issue
This is my coinfiguration
Nexus One, with the latest radio & HBoot installed, ClockWork recovey 3.0.0.5 and original SD as memory card (4GB)
After wiping everything from recovery and formatting the Mcard with 128MBswap & 512MBExt I am no longer able to install any CyanogenMod 7 release either nightly or stable. I did try to clear storage from bootloader and replacing the RA 2.2.1 without success. At the moment the only rom I can install is the MIUI and the stock one GRI40, all Cyanogen got stuck after the boot. Is any other way to do a kind of hard reset at the phone?
Many thanks in advance
EDIT: apologize I did post into a wrong area, MOD please move to the correct place
Thanks
Are you flashing a compatible gapps?
Also, try using a different recovery...
as i posted i did try both recovery (ra 2.2.1 & clockwork). i haven't flashed any google apps as I did flash the rom only
The Nexus One doesn't need a swap partition, try re-partitioning your card without that.
Try to download this: http://www.mediafire.com/?bxfijcp6f6bf1me
Then flash it from Amon-RA. It'll format your system partition too.
mindfrost82 thanks for the link but it seems not working, do you have another one available?
Many thanks

I can't tell you how many users PMed me after using that format utility to find out that when they try to flash a new ROM, they only can boot to recovery, no matter what they do. A nandroid backup with a system image or going thru a restore process involving fast boot img restores is the only fix. Just reporting what I have seen myself using that utility.
guys thanks for your effort but I gave up. I still don't understand why my N1 won't launch Cyanogen7, but for sure there is something wrong on my telephone. After installing without issue the Kang-o-rama 1.2 b3 I notice that after launching the market the main page is blank stating that there is no application available...O_O
Try this:
Install the recovery following what is said here in "Second Method (manual method)"
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.p...pdate_Guide#Second_Method_.28manual_method.29
BUT use this recovery http://mirrorbrain.cyanogenmod.com/cm/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.4-passion.img instead of the 3.0.0.5.
After that, flash this file
http://www.mediafire.com/?bxfijcp6f6bf1me
(it deeply wipes everything away, thank temasek for this stuff)
Then flash CM7 release and Gapps following what is said here
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/20115-cyanogenmod-7-for-nexus-one-v700-10-april-2011/
I hope this helps
I'll give a try, thanks for the tips
I recently decided that I wanted to do a fresh install of CM7 using the latest nightly. I wiped everything, including boot (which I think is the problem). I made a bootable CWR SD card and installed the latest nightly and gapps. Everything booted up fine and ran great, until I tried to use ROM Manager. Every time I try to boot into recovery, the Nook hangs at the "ReadForever" screen. It was hanging at the new Cyanogen boot logo, but in an attempt to correct the issue, I flashed the stock 1.2 uboot. I have also noticed that several apps are now showing up at phone size when they were fine before running the same setup. I am running n87, 5/23/11 OC, and the stock 1.2 uboot. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be?
You can try to disable the "compatibility mode" in order to try and get the apps to use the full screen. Regarding the Clockwork recovery issue, I have no idea - sorry!
I am running CM-7.0.3 on sd. I have been trying to add OC kernel. I have tried several including, update-CM7-dalingrin-OC-sd-042411ext4, update-CM7-dalingrin-OC-sd-052311 and update-CM7-dalingrin-OC-sd-060911. I unzip the file and copy the uImage file to the sd card. When I reboot with the new kernel, it sys "loading", then the screen flashes, then goes black. I can copy the original uImage file back to the sd card and it works fine. I guess I should leave well enough alone, but it is bugging me that I can not get it too work. What am I doing wrong?
Which kernel should I use and how can I get it to load?
Thanks for any help.
I haven't flashed anything on my nook for a while, let alone a new kernel, but I don't believe you should be unzipping the file once downloaded. You should be able to download it straight on your nook, navigate to it through clockwork recovery, flash it, then reboot, and you should be good. There might need to be some wiping of cache and/or dalvik cache too, but I don't remember 100%

yup or flash it through Rom manager.
I tried flashing the zip. When it rebooted it would not load. I had to totally start over and reload everything. When, before or after flash, and how do you clear the cache and/or dalvik cache? I do not want to start over again.
Thanks
All three kernels that you have tried are not intented to be used on CM 7.0.3; In order to use any of those, you need to be running at least nighty 88. THis is due to the fact that these kernels are based on a newer build (.32), and CM7 had to be updated as well.
As it is, you really owe it to yourself to update to nightly 98, as alot of improvements have been added since 7.0.3...
Thanks for the reply s.
For those of you who are using CM-7.0.3 on a SD card, which OC are you using how did you get it to work?
Just get one of the archived ones Dal has (4/04 one?)

I tried that but found I had a problem with WIFI. Have to reboot after waking up from battery charging.
I have been using 0404 with my CM 7.0.3
I have 2 nook colors one for me and one for my girlfriend, I am/was running CM 7 on them. Its been awhile since ive updated them. Ive tried the newest nightly and the latest STABLE release. Both got hung up on the same spot. The green CM logo will say its loading then it will go into a black screen lit by the backlight and just hangs there. no boot animation, no boot loop. Just sits there. Or It will just reboot itself back into clockwork after saying it installed the rom. Ive used the CWM removal and that made it just hung on a nook bootup screen.
Ive let it sit for 15 minutes and nothing. Im not new as ive rooted my og droid, my dx and 2 nook colors. I havent really had this issue with the nooks. not really sure what to do. Ive wiped data/cache formatted the symsted, data and cache and nothing.
My steps are as follows.
1)Download either Phiremod test 7 or ANY CM nightly
2) plug my data sdcard into my computer and transfer
3)boot into clockwork
4)Wipe pretty much everything (I also tried installing on top of the stable releases)
5)Install.
I know to expect issues but there HAS to be something im doing wrong that lets one nook install flawlessly and another nook that wont install any nightly or test build. If it didnt boot up they wouldnt leak the nightly. Its something on my end. I gotta figure it out
I also just went back to stock and re-rooted and I have the same issue

You probably have the wrong bootloader and kernel...the newest cm7s are based on the 2.6.32, not the older 2.6.29 (or something), and the newest 1.2 bootloader..which you probably don't have if it's "been awhile"..lol...You have to upgrade your Cwm first, from 3.0.1.0 to 3.0.2.8, I think, then flash your Cwm to a nightly after 86??(Google to check), and it will change your boot partition to the correct one...If your nook still says "touch the future", you're on the wrong bootloader.....Also, quit using Phiremod.....it's a copy of Cm7 first of all, but by the time it's released, it's already outdated, it's not updated like it should be, and it's Douchey. Google the basics of what I described above if it sounds like that might be your problem and lmk how it works out for you....Btw....I used nightly 106 for this exact thing on another of my Nooks a few days ago and it worked flawlessly...There are newer nightlies out, but that one for sure worked.....

I might be confused; Is one of your Nooks OK or are they both refusing to boot anything based on the .32 Linux kernel?
As I read it you aren't having trouble loading either with 7.0.3 stable. Correct?
The only thing I could suggest is loading the stable version, downloading the latest nightly CM (skip Phiredrop's theme for now) DIRECTLY to the SD card (skip the computer step), and do a factory reset and format boot, system, data, and cache (all four).
Load just the nightly and gapps (save the OC kernel for later), and then see if THAT boots all the way up.
Of course make sure you have a full backup of the stable OS install before you start.
If none of that works, then prepare the SD card as an install card and try that. Do you have just the one card?
Thanks for the replies....I thought 3.2.0.1 was the newest clockwork? I guess I need to pay more attention to the nook. lmao Mazook I think you are on the right track. Also to the phiremod is that the og droid equivalent to UD? hahahaha I actually liked the look of phiremod but i digress...
On that note I installed the uboot 1.2 and flashed it and it still boots into clockwork but that maybe because I may be on an outdated cwm im the one i stated above

If I remember correctly, you can't just jump from 3.0.0.6 or 3.0.1.0 to newest...there's one in between that transitions the upgrade in bootloaders...I'm pretty sure I went 3.0.1.0 to 3.0.2.8 to flashing Cm7 nightly 106...then to upgrade to Cwm 3.2.0.1 while in Rom manager, while using Cm7....leSigh....Clockworkmod is the only thing I can't stand about using my Nook....(though I rarely need it any more) AmonRa is such a better (and fully functional) recovery build...One thing I wish we had gotten.....

While in Rom Manager, go to "flash older clockworckmod recoveries ".....then choose 3.0.2.8 (Make a nandroid first) and have all the stuff you want to flash ready to go on the SD...then go into recovery from Rom Manager, which will put you in 3.0.2.8......if that doesn't do it, try the same thing again, but go to 3.0.1.0 first....then, once you get into a working cm7 with 3.0.1.0, try it all again.(upgrade to 3.0.2.8 by" try it all again" , but this time from 3.0.1.0)...you're basically trying to reinstall your boot partition, but in a different location than where it is now...its a hassle, but you can do it through just rom manager.....it's just a hassle...

Well Id love to try that but.....My nook wont turn on. It was fully charged today. Im either gonna make a bootable cwm or go back to stock and root again. I dont know if that will work though because its not even powering up.
Ok....i think im making progess....The newest nightly just goes into a bootloop. better than a clockwork bootloop i guess..... any advice on how to get it to install properly? i feel like im making progress. normal bootloops are better than what i was getting
Bueller............Bueller lmao.
Seriously though.....if anybody can figure this out it would make my year
Try this, install stock 1.2....
boot it up, go through the annoying setup, log into google apps, then power down.
Boot into CWR SD, this should have the os that you want already on it, and the google apps file.
THen click install from zip, choose zip, install the OS, after complete install google apps, then restart without sd
Do not format anything, it should do the trick.
Hi guys,
Today I started installing CM using mr.muh guide.
At step 3 (Boot into OR), After applying OR, Its like a timer begins, And restarts after 3 to 4 sec.
1. What i need to do?
2. Each time i tried, I have flashed with RSD all over again. because the OR gets overwrites by the stock recovery.
Are all these flashes dangerous/damaging my milestone?
3. Mr.muh`s guide, Describes installing CM7, while the newest (daily use) is CM9. When installing, I can install 9 right away,
Or installing 7 and then updating to 9?
thanks!
I dont know if this helps, but after i got clockworkmod i installed cm9 directly from there. I would say you could install either 7 then 9 or just 9, but i directly installed 9 and it runs fine.
What OR are you using?
Try the kabaldan's latest one. It contains a fix for these reboots.
BradlyeG: Clockworkmod recovery doesn't exist for the Milestone.

An Update:
I`v advising "nadalbak" through the irc.
Because lack of knowledge i didn't understand the problem. (the words where "watchdog", "panic system" or my catch system is damaged)
But its resulted the suggestion of using the original recovery v1.46, which worked.
Is the v1.46 decreases my device performance?
Nope. The recovery is independent from android. The only drawbacks of the original recovery (and every recovery before 2ndboot) is you can not charge your phone in recovery and some had problems with some sdcards.
