Hello everyone,
I'm a newbie here. Just flashed my phone for the very first time today after stalking this forum ever since i got my phone!
so today, i flashed from stock Eclair DXJG4 to Simply Galaxy 2.4 SweetHoney
after multiple tries, i finally got the phone to boot and the puple honeycomb animation appeared
soon after, i was at the brand new homescreen.
but i could not find the apps for Phone, Contacts and Messaging (that i know of. Im not sure if there are any other missing apps)
when i opened the app tray, i had 3 pages of apps, with the 3rd page only having 2 apps. so i only have 30 apps in total in my app tray...
Thinking that updating might help, i updated to 2.4.1, but nope..those apps are still missing?
what should i do?
should i download those apps 1 by 1 by extracting from the system file from the zipfile?
or should i just reflash it and hope those apps will appear the 2nd time around?
Ur help is much appreciated! Thanx in advance!
Factory reset first that fails then reflash .
jje
thanx mate, had to reflash a second time
and now its ok!
everything is where it should be
i guess there was a problem the first time i flashed it!

I dnt know if its happened to anyone else and i kinda dont have a nandroid backup of when the market was working cos it took me a wyl to have lickons custom recovery image working. everything els seems fine its jus the market.
Any help will be appreciated thanks
I had the very same problem after flashing 2.000.16_EMEA_GEN1. The fix is as simple as it's unexplainable (for me at least).
Just start the Google Talk application for a while and go download your apps
May be you have to format the micro SD too, because it have some minor parts of programs that can make confict with the new rom.
Ever than i put a new rom, i recommended format both (Phone & Sd).
Hi thanks for your replies, it turns out it may have been because of the sim i dnt exactly know how because before when i was trying to download i had a spare orange simcard in and it wouldnt download but i jus thought i'd try put my sisters tmobile sim back in (which i signed up to the google account with) and straight away apps started downloading. I spent like 4 hrs ova something so simple.
Thanks agen for the replies

hey there fellas
(i'm sorry to post my problem here in the development section but i guess it might be related to the lag fix)
My SGS is acting weird lately , dunno if its related to the lag fix ( [UTIL] One Click Lag Fix 1.0 - 2.0 ) ever since i got the phone with normal use iv never seen anything funny like this. it all started with lag fix version 1 , the phone was fast and with that fix even faster , the phone was all good started with the root as step 1, then it was the market fix, after that i was tempted to try the lag fix which was amazingly effective, went from version 1 to version 2 of it and then it started.
the phone took long to respond 'sometimes' when the screen was off and after a day the phone simply didnt want to get out of standby ( black screen ) so used the boot mode and formatted the phone , once the phone started i formatted the internal sd and rebooted and applied the Root-market fix-lag fix ver 1.0 in that sequence, now the phone seems a little weird . by weird i mean strange things r happening like when i goto the apps menu the icons move by them selves in a random way after a reboot. I set it up to show apps in the first couple pages followed by games , now its all messed up and i didn't mind it at all.
with my internet provider i really have to keep an eye on my 3g usage, and have been using 3g watchdog to keep track. now i notice everytime i restart or switch off / on the phone, the counter goes back to 0 which really gets on my nerves.
now to track the problem would someone point me in the right direction ?
could it be the lag fix ? could it be the program itself ? should i switch to another ? would i need a fresh flash ? my phone is working on eclair 2.1 version I9000JXJF1 , using kies since day 1 there has been no firmware update for the U.A.E and i dont want to risk updating to anything unless its official from samsung.
any help is much appreciatted ^_^
it's interestingly weird case.
i'll start by suggesting to wipe the cache data, and data in recovery mode or
*2767*3855#
WARNING! FACTORY RESTORE, DATA WIPE AND RESET TO FACTORY STATE, as soon as you enter the last # use it only if you want to clean wipe your phone
i started with the first and then was like WTH and went with the second only to find out its the same procedure hehehe..... anyways phone is fresh now , started with rooting then off with lag fix 2.0 ( hope it dont get that same problem again ) . Now i notice there's no bootup logo when starting the SGS ( the swirling S ) but the sound still plays , is this normal ?

I had this exact same issue when I was using SetCPU. Uninstalled it and the problem was gone. Also some of the custom kernels are having wake-up lag.

Are you using LauncherPro? If so, this is common behavior and might also be so with other launchers. After booting up it will sequentially load your apps and that's why they will seem to popup in a random order bouncing about in the menu. After it's finished loading everything it will all be back to normal.

Seems to me that you had a problem with applying your lagfix and that the phone doesn't store your app-data properly.
My recommendation is to update to the JM5 firmware. It's the version that's been most tested with the lag fixes. I'm running JM5 with RyanZA's Lag Fix 2.0 and SamSet 1.9e (except kernel). It works like a charm and have done so for the past week. No wake-up lag, crashes or other weird behavior.
Hope this helps, and good luck

First boot will always take longer time and might also affect the sync between the sound and animation. It's normal!

thank you very much for your informative reply
let me start replying to what u just told me

i dont have SetCPU installed as i have tried it for a few days and found it useless , since i dont have the 1.2 ghz tune i dont see why i should even keep the app, yes i saw how the app messes with the phone so i removed it.

no im not using Launcher Pro and i could see how it would affect the arrangment of the programs but it wasn't that. My guess is it might probably be 1 of 2 , either titanium backup or Mybackup pro after restoring the data and not the apps.

im guessing a maybe here since i dont know how it would affect my 3g watchdog's app or make it reset the counter, i switched to Network monitor ( not as good as 3g watchdog but it does the same job ^_^ )

just like i said id love to go that way but can wait a month or 2 till froyo joins the fun.

i hope its just a sync problem , but the phone gave up on the animation , after a couple of tries yea the logo simply isn't there anymore just the sound but i did notice a little faster boot up time this way with only a small vibration to indicate the phone has started.
i'll redo everything again 1 step at a time 1 app at a time , i'll delete my backups as i could do it just this time to get a good fix after a clean boot , and i guess i'll just stick with version 1 as i didnt see anything wrong with it so no need to jump to version 2 of the lag fix
could anyone tell me what app will back up all my sms/mms/call log without any trouble ? does titanium do that coz i looked everywhere and couldn't find anything regarding that
Thanx to everyone for your help ^_^
now to find a fix for that gangster game after redoing everything
ok new discovery
using mybackup pro to backup all the sms's and mms's restarted after the restore and boom
what i see now is the old background from before the *2767*3855# method and the apps linked to homescreen from before , could it be the trouble maker ?
ok now im not gonna use it and test the whole procedure all over again
ok i guess thats it... even after a factory reset the logo wont show up again T_T
any tutorials on how to flash the original FW safely ? where could i find my original FW ? thing is i need arabic lang and doubt the JW5 has it built in anyways im off for now....... ~ spends the night googling~

First thing you should do is a complete factory/data reset. The upgrade process isn't very good

I think the things he is experiancing is more than lag its as above mentioned upgrading can leave things slow and reseting clearing cache etc is recomended.
Turn phone off then hold down power volume up and the middle button till it goes into recovery also you could use quick boot from the market its free and it will boot into recovery if the 3 button mode doesnt work.
No it wont put you back to 2.1 but may wipe contacts apps etc but the plus is a clean start.
@Gadget Check: alright thanks I shall search it up ...
@Tragusman: ok ok, thanks alot ! shall search up quick boot from android mart ...
Hello guys,
I`m from Brazil and was on UK 10H for weeks, maybe months with no problem. One day trying to increase my battery life I disabled all the safe list found on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2018587&page=4
From that day forth I started to get phone freezes everyday for no apparent reason, so I did a factory data reset, flashed to official Brazilian V20a through LG Mobile support tool. Re-rooted, factory reset again and the problem is still here!! ::crying: Now on JB it seems like it usually freezes after unlocking the first screen, but sometimes randomly using any app.
I made a video with it today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4IPNb8mNC8&feature=youtu.be
At first when you unlock, the screen looks right, but when you try to click anything it doesn`t respond. After a while it says: "home has stopped working" I click to close it and I get exactly what you see on the video. Looks like the lock screen clock continues to work, but the "inside clock" doesn't.
Do you have any ideia what I could do?? Currently using superuser. Pleease help!
Thanks :highfive:

There will be other opinions, choose the best for you...
My advice is, re-flash your phone using LGFlash Tool.
Root it, install SuperSU and install it in system (Superuser will be uninstalled and all related files).
Install Busybox if you'll need it, for Lucky Patcher etc...
After that, proceed with uninstall/freeze un-wanted/ no needed apps.
Clean Dalvik-cache and it should be all.
Already tried to install another launcher? I think it is launcher related

Thanks for the replies,
I`ve read somewhere about bad widgets on the home screen, so I removed all my widgets and I`m waiting to see if it works. Almost a day now with no problems.. if it doesn`t work I`ll try your ideas! Thanks!
Hello Everybody!
My Girlfriend has a Galaxy S3 Mini I8190 and I rooted her phone to uninstall all the Google and Samsung bloatware with AppMaster.
Unfortunately now she can´t send SMS anymore. They just stay in "sending" and don´t go out. I guess it´s because I deleted also Samsung Push App. Usually I Backup the deleted apps. Since I never had a problem after deleting sysapps I didn´t save them this time.
Please tell me which SysApps are needed to send SMS and I also need someone to make me this Apps available to download since I didn´t make a backup.
your help is highly appreciated, have a nice day and thanks a lot.
P.s: I just saw that I also dont have samsung push, so its probably not that.
have you tried factory reset that should sort it & then go on from there, but be a little more careful this time...
solved

Thanks for the reply, I could solve it by myself. It wasn´t caused by any application I uninstalled but by disabling the messaging app with the autostart manager.
