My wife has a Buzz and asked to make her a ROM, so i gave it go. Here is the 1st version:
- based on RUU_Buzz_Froyrange_ES_2.34.75.1_Radio_13.55.55. 24H_3.35.20.10
- Rooted
- Deodexed
- A2SD (you will need an ext partition after the FAT one)
- latest busybox (1.18.3)
- All apks are optimized and zipaligned
- Default kernel for now - but [KERNEL][OC/UV][BFQ][AUFS][FTW][GPL] HCDR.Kernel v4.1 should work, I'll try to convince snq- (the one who made the desire kernel to make one for wildfire)
- Amend script syntax to work with all recoveries (minus 3xxxx one)
- hosts moved to /data/local for adfree
- bootanimation moved to /data/local
- all google apps updated to their latest version
- what i forgot
Changelog:
21 march - Removed beta tagged, after 10 days on missus phone, the rom didn't crashed once - rom is still the one from 11 march. I will not update the rom just to create the feeling that i'm working hard on it, i dont have what to update, no new kernel or base or hacks mods since 11 march. maybe only some new versions of market apps but those can be updated from market.
0.2
- Updated market to latest version
- Added 4n1 reboot menu
- Updated busybox to 1.19
- All market apps (gmail, maps, facebook, etc.) are install as user apps so you can remove update edit change.
- flash WITHOUT wipe. - is a 2.3 mB update flash over v0.1
0.1
- initial release
I cook my roms, trying to keep them as stock as possbile, with stability and speed in mind.
This is the 1st version which is a beta. I'm more familiar with porting stuff so i'll give it a go to wildfire s rom when i can and i'm more comfortable with wildfire

Nice to see other Senior Devs make a ROM for the Wildfire, normally is the other way round.
Good Luck on the ROM. It looks very promising for an initial release.
Welcome
Nice to hear about new rom. I'm very intrested about your work because at the moment is impossible to find a good rom.
hmm....very nice...can you put some printscreens ?
And can you give linpack test info ?
I need to try you rom, but this 2 infos I would like to know. If it's not a problem.
Tnx

probably my rom doesn't have as many features as older roms here, but i did this rom because after sometime, all other roms became laggish on the buzz. So for now better speed was my goal, and seems i accomplished it. try it and let me know

the looks is stock, but is deodexed so you can customize it with UOT.
i cant give you linkpack score, im at work and the phone is not mine so i dont have it with me. but as getting to know each other i dont care about benchmakers scores as long as roms feels smooth. and it does
from what i saw ppl here are obsessed with linkpack on desire they are with quadrant.
We can't use Quadrant in it's free version because we don't have a GPU, as simple as that

yes i know, i was merely trying to make a point, that ppl are obsessed by benchmarks, it is not a pc to run 3dmark on it and buzz surely is pretty limited as performance, so as long as a rom runs smooth and apks along with it i really don't understand why some scores are important to you, adding the fact that one is a score and most of the time is not reflected by reality.
Power of example for quadrant since i had to deal with obsession on desire thread.
free of quadrant version 1600 points on a2sd rom
paid of quadrant version 1800 points on a2sd rom
on data2sd 2500 points (due to fake i/o by emultation sdcard as nand)
on data2ext 3050 points (again same reason)
all this on the same rom (mine) same kernel only with the scripts changed.. funny thing .. all 3 version act the same in terms of speed in real life
The only value that would be usefull is the average FPS in common usage (Maybe one day google will include it?)
It`s nice to see devs coming to this platform!
Bine ai venit!
Hi Mate,

Very professional Thread View...Welcome to the Wildfire Section, more and more devs are filling the wildfire section lately and that's a good thing!!!
Enjoy your stay, just downloaded beta version, already nandroided my CM7 RC2, and going to flash right now!
Will report feedback soon - Thanks for ur effort and time to share ur work with us!
Hooray for a ROM that includes that nice little boot jingle. I don't understand why all the other ROMs remove it. Still booting. Must await full verdict.
downloading it right now. I'll post feedback soon. Thanks a lot!
Tested it .. Worked fine .. No freezing .... Stable so far. IMO Need few work like a Reboot option .. Seems like the Market is not the updated version. The boot screen like stock one .. I like that one
Well done Mate .. Expecting lot of updates

I'm pleased to present my repack of the stock ROM for the HTC Wildfire! READ THIS WHOLE POST BEFORE YOU START! No, really, it contains everything you need to know.
Remember that if you use this ROM, you do so entirely at your own risk!!
About MoDaCo stock ROM repacks
Unlike a MCR (MoDaCo Custom ROM) release, a stock ROM repack is as close to the stock ROM as possible. Only root / Superuser and an insecure boot image is added. The benefits of the repack are providing a rollback option in update zip format as well as providing an online kitchen to remove parts that are not required.
A MCR release of this ROM is also available!
Requirements
In order to use this ROM on your device, you must have a custom recovery image installed (Clockwork Mod). This can be installed on the WildFire using 'unrevoked'.
Features
Repack of the 1.37.405.1 WWE ROM
Pre-rooted with su and Superuser Permissions by ChainsDD
Insecure boot image (ro.secure=0)
Changelog
Please see the post below this one for the changes in each release.
Installation
To install this ROM:
Download the zip file of your choice from the links below (or the online kitchen) and copy to your SD card
Restart your device in recovery mode
PERFORM A NANDROID BACKUP FROM THE MENU
Select the option to apply an update zip, and select the zip file you copied to your memory card
Upgrading
No wipe is explicitly required in order to use this ROM, however if you do encounter issues of any kind, it is recommended that you wipe your device and reproduce the issue before raising it here.
Downloads
This ROM is now available in the online kitchen - see the post below for details! In addition to the kitchen, a prebaked download is available.

Thanks
It's impossible to mention everyone who contributes to the Android community by name, but to everyone out there who does great work and shares it with us all - you have my gratitude and respect.
And finally...
Details on how to donate should you wish to do so are in download topic at MoDaCo..
Enjoy!

What is the kitchen? besides the one i have downstairs.
guess, it kinda makes sense when you see the page for downloading, but premium users only.
Oh yeah, its comming true, MCR for Wildfire, now i need an graphic multiboot option to fast and easy switch between cm6.1 and mcr.
Cant wait to try the kitchen
Thanks for your work Paul
PS:
I dream from using MCR since my g1 time, but now with the wildfire i can have it.

No, as far as i understand, this is the standard 2.1 that the phone comes with, so if i am correct, installing this would get your phone back to what it was when you first turned it on.
besides that, you can flash another kernel, and you have a stock rom with oc capabilities, exactly what i want.
only thing i'm not sure about, when htc pushes out 2.2, will that mess with the flashed kernel?
The Wildfire forum over at Modaco was a bit dead. Hope this means there will be more interest over there, as it was with my Pulse.

Hey, did you manage to implement that pointer to the HTC lockscreen, or you didn`t have the time? Also, doesn`t MoDaCo have a cheaper donation cost? Like 3$ a month or something? Or is it only 10$ a year?
Could someone PLEASE make an unroot package which does not wipe my data

Are you taking the p**s????
3$ a month works out more expensive than 10$ a year!!!
If you can't afford 10$ a year then you relly shouldn't have a mobile phone!.

Ok, smarty pants, why should I pay 10 $ for a service (the kitchen) that I will use once, maybe twice, untill I get the ROM I want? Call me cheap but I won`t waste money on things that I don`t use.
If you want, buy me a subscription, 10$ means nothing to a phone user like you, doesn`t it?
God!!! The people that live on this world make me rage!!!!
since modaco roms are designed to be as close as stock, but with tweaks and optimisations, its basically like cyanogenmod right? except cyanogenmod is aosp only.

It seems exactly what i'm looking for (except for a2sd)
I really hope a2sd will be implemented in this rom

Found this while searching around google. It's a leaked RUU for the HTC Pico "explorer" which is a light version of Sense 3.5 on android 2.3.5 or most commonly known as "sense zero". I thought I would post it up so that you'll can start porting over to the hero.
The Pico specs are rather similar to our phone so it shouldn't be to difficult for someone to port it over, it's also mdpi so no resizing will be necessary.
If you are already considering taking on this project then more than likely you already know how to setup a flashable rom from a ruu but in case you need some refreshing the following will help:
Instructions:
- dsixda kitchen will need to be installed prior to starting.
1. Run RUU and leave open
2. Type %TEMP% in your computers start menu search bar.
3. Search through the folders in there with the long names with numbers and letters, you'll find a zip file named "rom.zip" in there.
4. Place the rom.zip in the original_update folder located in the "kitchen" directory
5. From there follow the steps on the kitchen menu to setup the rom.
6. Then proceed to porting to the hero. :]
- Download Pico RUU
Credits to capychimp for posting the leak up.

First ROM port to Hero: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1284083
EDIT: Sorry, i read this on the XDA front page where they wrote that Pico has QVGA resolution which apparently it has not. It´s HVGA.
...The interesting thing about the Pico is the fact that it is loaded with Sense 3.5, which happens to be called Sense Zero for this particular device. Due to having similar specs such as QVGA resolution and ARMv6 processor....

Wow, fingers crossed. There haven't been any bigger breakthroughs ever since KalimochoAz figured out the cam drivers for 2.3...
I dont think this would be possible.. First of i dont think the tattoo is capable of running it smoothly enough.. And second the Hero's resolution is bigger than the one on the tattoo, so it would need to be resized..
And last .. Im afraid theres no devs with enough skill back with a tattoo
I'm interested on working on this but I have never worked on a rom before. I just have experience in java/c++ and some android app programming. Can anybody point me to the right direction? I think i can devote much time to this project.
i hope if this can be run on tattoo )))

you might want to consider my earlier post to have more system space, while you work on porting

it would give you flexibility to flash these ROMs with out an issue of system memory.

I had a look at the Wildfire section and saw a similar project. They had managed to get it booting, but at the moment it was unusable.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285694
In the meantime, to get more comfortable with the tools and development I've decided to resume the development of the Sense 2.2 Rom port from the wildfire.

Hey good thinking, then you could use following ROMs as base (not exclusive):
Build Number : 2.37.415.1
Android Freedom Wildfire 2.2.1 Arabic sense
STEAM V1.0 by o TRiPPiNz (Also supports Arabic for Arabic users)
Based on official: 2.34.75.1
WildPuzzleROM_2.2.1 v0.8
as you know TatFroyoSense is based on build 2.22.405.1
2.22.405.1 r1 - MoDaCo Custom ROM (Froyo 2.2.1)
Later version had the contacts apk fixed and the live wallpaper support and slightly faster.
I could build a dirty ROM from DanneJo's Wildpuzzle ROM, but it has problem with wifi and accelerometer.
a dirty hack had activated wifi.
I am not a dev and had very poor programming experience.
If you can do this project, that is best for us to get a decent product.

Thank you for the links.
I've also seen RemPuzzleRom which is a continuation of WildPuzzleRom and contained some interesting hacks, especially one on keeping the launcher in memory (which TatFroyoSense lacked).
I'll try porting STEAM tomorrow and see how everything works. Once I get some concrete results I'll start a new thread as this is moving away from the original topic.
well i hope its ok to ask. i could install each and test and bla bla someday i may know. but i got some other things to do sometimes so ....
i come from desire just bought a note which seems quite nice yet. rooted and now the old problem which rom to use....
at the moment i use checkrom revo notehd 4 which isnt bad maybe im just used to cm...
i used cm7 for my desire which worked best for me (think i tried quite alot not all but alot) was quick, stable....
As there is just a cm9 beta which didnt work for my desire in the past i would just like to have a few feedbacks on which roms you use or like best and maybe a few words about why u use it (what makes it different from other rom)
hope it is ok to ask maybe its it is interesting for more notenewbies ?
thx
I'd say 4lph4 n3v3r d135 because:
- uses best kernel (currently: AbyssNote3.2 that can overclock/underclock from 100Mhz to 1.7Ghz)
- has less fancy icons than RocketRom and others
- updates frequently to deliver the latest firmware
- arranges to deliver the most useful tweaks we need
- see its page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424401
Stock, cm9 (when they release a final version) or wait for the ICS
I've tried a couple and nothing looked decent AND offer snappy speed.
The firmware has to match the serious look of the gNote. And the quick ROMs have a gipsy UI (no offence, just my subjective opinion)
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA App
RocketRom for me but with the stock theme don't think there is a better theme than the stock one atm at least for my taste
Well as some of you may know, i have delved into making roms!
Being as we are being forgotten about i thought what the hell and gave it a bash....
my first attempt took 8hrs to build.
I used an old 2.3.3 Chinese rom.....proper crap rom! was odexed and bloated with ****.
I deodexed it, stripped the crap from it, added apps, changed the wallpapers on main screen, added in busybox, an su, languages, removed other tit bits.
I even managed to get it booted up! fully working...fact it was so old...but it was my first ever attempt.
So im looking to make another. using newer 2.3.5 base for now.
It will not have apps2sd built in!
reason for this is it plays havoc with our data2sdext3 scripts. when we do have it...there seems to be a cap at some point to how many apps we can have installed memory wise.
So what you guys want?
please nothing extreme....ie no ICS.....i can't do that right now!
it will be a 2.1 based rom...with fb button usage.
themed to a good taste..
so ideas please guys....
Hey buddy... Gud to hear dat u r workin on sumthng
Need a rom which is stable and fast..
and gives gud batry backup

Hi Mate
Really good news for SALSA users
I like a plain sense 2.1 GB 2.3.5 ROM
May be removed all apks downloadable
And a nicely themed
No launchers
I'd just like something that is regularly(monthlyish) updated
Something I can install over the top of my current custom rom(thing) that wont wipe all my settings would be nice
Sense 3.5?
cool overclockable kernel
I feel so ****ing awesome that for such a ****ty phone we got so many sexy developers
Hi,
A (not so tech-y) friend of mine has a Samsung galaxy ace but is complaining about the speed of the device. I want to help him by installing a custom rom on the device. If been googling different roms but for the life of me i cant figure out which ones are stable and good and wich ones are amateuristic.
I was hoping one of you fine gentlemen could point me in the right direction.
These are the 'requirements'
- Optimized internal storage for installing apps (stock android?)
- As little bloatware as possible (owner only uses whatsapp/browser and facebook etc. He has no need for equilizers and whatnot)
- Fast and smooth (this is most important, android version doenst really matter. Which ever one is fastest)
- Stable/ no bugs. The owner of the device is not tech savvy so i dont want him to have to kill apps and deal with bugs etc.
- preferably built in kernel/overclocking so i dont have to do it myself
Any help will be much appreciated!
