[Q] Titainum Backup PRO Problem [SOLVED] - Xoom Themes and Apps

So I have my rooted Xoom and Titanium Backup PRO. The program runs ok, but only one of my many, many applications shows up in the backup list (ConnectBot). I have busybox installed. I have also tried letting Titanium install its own busybox. Lots of 'refreshing' and 'rebooting' have not fixed it.
I have the program on my Droid phone and it works there, showing and backing up all of my apps+data.
Any ideas?
UPDATE: This is a problem with all of the current versions of busybox. The one from the market and the one that Titanium Backup installs do not work on the Xoom. I compiled up a busybox from the source last night and it works with TB. The problem seems to be with the 'find' and probably the 'cp' commands. I talked with Stephen and he is going to release a new busybox installer to the market that should fix the problem.

I'm pretty sure that happens to everyone. I think he needs to update his app for Honeycomb.
If you manually add a back up to your memory card it will show up though.

It doesn't support honeycomb yet. I have yet to get a backup or restore to work at all. I have been able to extract the backup files, and move them one by one to make apps work.

I figured it was just me. Thanks for the info. Will stand by for update.

It looks like someone have work it out:
SORRY got it working now.
Just had to reinstall busybox 3 times lol and refresh then all the app came wooot! Im happy now :-D

Not exactly repeatable . I've installed busybox several times and refreshed my fingers to the bone. Must be some other mojo he did.

Titanium Backup

Ive been flashing the various kernels for a while now and my biggest problem is not having a working backup app.
People have said that Titanium is working for them - it isnt for me. I have the latest busybox pushed and everything as it should be, but there are only 5 elements in my backup/ restore section.
Anyone have any tips on getting it to work as intended? Or perhaps an alternative app?

Same here I only have 5 items in the list. Does anyone get all system apps?
Same thing for me. Only 5 showing.
I read on another thread that until a couple of days ago, the Titanium developers were unaware of any issues with the Xoom. Now that they know it is not working, they are looking into a fix. I can't remember which thread or forum that I read the information however.
It was not until I compared how Ti Backup works on my Nook Color that I realized where the problem is. But yes, there are no applications listed to be backed up And I've received at least a couple of updates since I bought the Pro version but nothing changed. I'm glad to hear that the developers are working on the issue. I can't imagine it being a big problem for the pros!
Titanium always is getting updates. Most of the time when I see updates available its because of ti. This shouldn't be a problem for long. Have you guys tried Mybackup Root its free and does the same thing as TB but takes lomger

I tried that when I found it for my Nook Color but it's not readily available for the Xoom. I even tried making an .apk using MyBackup on the NC but it is not listed in the app list for backup. Sneaky bastards!!

Try the BusyBox installer from the market. The one produced by Stericson. We worked on compiling up BusyBox and testing it on Xoom. Once you have that installed, TB should be able to find apps, make backups, and do restores.
thanks, it works fine... somehow fixes things despite me having installed the same version manually a number of times...
You Guys are Awesome! Thanks!
working fine... thanks much

I can confirm that this works. BusyBox by Stericson from the market enables Titanium to do its normal tasks just like anywhere else...

Titanium Backup now showing all elements

Busybox updated in the market. After updating to 1.18.4 Titanium backup shows all apps, not just the 5 elements.
Edit: Backup complete. It seems to work completely. Lets me uninstall and restore.

Yep! It works!
One step closer to custom ROMs.
Just a note. If it's not working for you, clear the TiBu cache in the apps manager.

I am having a tough time getting it installed what did you do to get it to install.
NVM: I found a older version of busy box in the development section and now I have TB working.
I had a hard time after the app updated; it would freeze at the open screen. I went into Settings>Applications>All>Busyboxy and cleared cache and data and then it installed the latest 1.19.0.
I've tried everything and it won't install, any other ideas. Install from market hangs after I hit ok....cleared cache of this and Titanium

Just to make sure, you have to be rooted.
When I first installed Titanium backup, I installed busybox from there by clicking 'Problems?'. So I had busybox installed first.
What exactly is it doing or not doing? For me the busybox app was freezing and not letting me press "OK". Clearing cache and data fixed it, but the next time I opened it it did it again and I had to reclear the cache and data.
Do you get any error messages?
Edit: There is something wrong with the latest version. I started getting hung at "OK" and nothing I tried would fix it. I used titanium backup to restore the version from yesterday and it works fine.
might want to thry busybox installer instead of the steig version... worked for me on first try after failing with normal one

[Q] Titanium Backup superuser permissions

I'm having issues with Titanium Backup that I hope someone can help with. This problem popped up suddenly, but may have been after an update. Have done extensive research in CM7 and XDA forums, Titanium FAQ, etc., and can't find a fix.
I have a rooted Nook Color with CM7.1 nightly installed on EMMC. Every time I run Titanium Backup, the following message keeps flashing up continuously during the backup:
'Titanium backup has been granted Superuser permissions'
I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling Titanium and reinstalled/checked superuser settings. Titanium Backup is listed as having superuser permissions but the log shows 200 entries. I clear the log, run a backup and 200 more log entries appear in superuser. The same happens with my HTC Aria. Everything else seems fine.
I would suspect the ROM and reinstall, but the exact same issue is happening with Titanium Backup on my rooted HTC Aria running CM7.1.0-liberty. So, I believe it is an issue with Titanium. I've tried Problems? fixes in Titanium with same results

I really appreciate all the hard work that's been done by the people at XDA and Cyanogen turning the inexpensive NookColor into a full-blown Android tablet. You guys rock! This problem has me stumped, though. What am I missing or doing wrong? I'd rather not have to reinstall on both devices to get this fixed if I don't have to.
Thanks in advance.
If you suspect Titanium then it might be better to tell us what version of the app you are running. If you just started having this happen, on two devices no less, after a recent update of the app itself, your best fix is probably finding an older version of titanium and rolling back to that.
Grab a logcat of the issue and send it to the developer if an older version fixes the problem. Assuming you have the most recent. Just to make sure it will be fixed for the next update.
Thanks for the quick reply.
My original Titanium version was 4.9.1. I went to the Titanium site and downloaded/installed the prior version with the same results. It looks like the update may not be causing the issues.
Some other things I tried:
Uninstalled Avast Mobile Security (in case it was messing up permissions)
Ran Fix Permissions in ROM Manager
Cleared superuser data and gave Titanium permission again
None fixed the issue on the NookColor. I haven't messed with the Aria, yet.
This has got me stumped. Is there a certain version of superuser that must be installed? I believe an updated version was available on the Google Play market. May have installed the update.

I am kind of confused what the problem is. Does it finish making the backup? The "Titanium has been granted superuser permission" is nothing more than a toast notification. I think you can turn that off somehow but not sure atm.
I just checked my Superuser log and I see the same entries in mine as you have more or less. But everything is running as it should be.
When I run SDmaid I also get multiple toasts and that is actually what I saw in my log with multiple entries like your TB issue, but everything is running just fine. Unless you are not getting a full complete backup, I wouldn't worry about it. I am using newest version of TBpro too.

What you described is all normal. Titanium backup needs superuser permissions to be able to access/backup/restore system files and settings. If you run a full backup with TB, it will request, and be granted superuser permissions many times. Where I think you might be getting a little confused, is older versions of Superuser just listed the allowed/rejected apps. The newer versions of Superuser show the allowed apps along the left hand side, and a 200 entries log of what apps were granted/rejected superuser permissions.

Thanks for clearing that up. I have had Titanium on the NookColor since I rooted and installed CM7 two years ago and never noticed the superuser permission messages. It must be as you said, that it's being granted superuser permission many times--it looks like as it starts to back up each app. The backups are successful as I've restored a couple of apps without problems.
Thank you again.
For me the toasts started coming up every few seconds during a backup when I updated the superuser app. I just have the notifications turned off and it doesn't bug me.
Sent from my NookColor using XDA
How do you turn the notifications off?
Seems that you can't within the TB app. You can go into GUI->Notification Toasts and change the way the look (Default, Cloud or Parchment).
Might be away to turn off the Toast in the SU app but it's an "If it ain't broke don't fix it type thing". Although now probably bc of this thread, you'll be looking for it everytime. Funny how subliminals work.
I turned off the notifications in the super user app.

Data sync from the play store. Must be rooted and have both devices on the same Wi-Fi network. You can choose to move data or app and data. Obviously, the bigger it is the longer it'll take.
Edit: guess you can sync to the cloud now. That's cool. I might use it more.

You can use helium to do that, even w/out root. Just need to hook the phone up to the computer with the helium desktop app running and you should be able to pull the data then from your old phone and put it on the new phone with the app.
+1 for helium, it works great!

BusyBox
I was going to use the DataSync app to copy a few app data files for games,
but I couldn't get DataSync to start on my Moto X because BusyBox wasn't
installed. I've tried two or three of the BusyBox installers on the Play
Store but all have failed to install. My old phone is a Droid X-2 and is
rooted with BusyBox and ready to use the DataSync app. Has anyone got
BusyBox to install on the Moto X? Should I change the install folder? I
don't have much experience with BusyBox other than installing it on my X-2
for some app. I may just try the Helium desktop app for the app data copy
but I would like to know about BusyBox in case it's needed later. DataSync says it does work with the Motorola phones but I'll try it anyway. Thanks.

Busy box installed fine for me... Have you tried normal install vs smart install? Not sure how much of a difference it'll make but if you haven't, at least it'll be something new to try.. Works both ways for me and I've never had to change the location.
I always had issues getting data back on certain apps with helium. Must just be me, I hear great things about it, anyway, data sync is just something I'm more familiar with. Easier too.. At least for me. But yes, busy box has worked for me on stock rooted, stock rooted SS, and TMo port to VZW.

I read somewhere to boot to recovery so the r/w permissions were off. Once I did that and BusyBox installed with no problem. Also, DataSync worked awesome and was super easy. I uploaded the two apps to the other detected device no problem.
Can anyone confirm that any of these methods work on iron man 3? I've tried titanium backup and my backup pro in the past and the game days never synced. Always had to completely restart the game...

I think you might need to enable a setting when you're using the backup to install. There should be an option to either just install the app, or to install the app and all previous data. I think. Sorry if it wasn't too helpful; I haven't used Titanium for a year now.

Layers Manager Working On Marshmallow Devices

Layers manager is working on all marshmallow devices on stock rom itself.
In order to use this app you have to be rooted and busybox should be installed.
Additionally on some devices system partition has no free space for layers to be installed. If it is a case you have to uninstall some system apps for freeing up some memory.
I would suggest to take nandroid backup before uninstalling any system app.

At first take nandroid backup then try cleaning some system apps which you could dowload afterwards on play store,on some models reportedly system partition has no space left for layers,i think it would work out this way,do reply if your problem is sorted out or not.
