Hey just a notice. I just had my DS7 charging while I was downloading the 400 mb game Monster madness. I was using the USB adapter for AC that my Zune uses. Seems to charge on and off and after I checked after awhile, the USB adapter got hot. Same thing happens with a couple other USB adapters to AC I tried. So it seems you may have to use the adapter that comes with the DS7.
Anyone else notice this?
Any 5 volt 2 amp USB charger will work. 1 amp chargers will run it but not charge it.

Ok that is indeed the issue. The OTHER usb adapters I have (The ones I have at work) are all 1000mA which then my warning continues. It DOES charge it by, but it does so in what seems to be a bad way. It charges and goes off back and forth, so its like a trickle charge. But it does make the adapter very hot. Either way, not good to use a 1000mA adapter then it seems.
If you use a 1 amp charger, just power the streak down completely.

Yea thats what I do when I need to charge it at work, just dont leave it on while charging. Unless you wanna smell the burning of it after awhile from the plastic adapter.

Hi,
I just bought a used HD2 without a charger. Seller told me the charger was not working and gave me only the USB cable. I am wondering if I can use my HD charger to charge the HD2. Of course, by swapping the cable.....
Anyone with a HD2 please post the part number/model number of their original HTC HD2 Charger so that I can check whether it is the same thing? Thanks all.....
Oh....Just downloaded a copy of the usual manual for HD2. It stated the original adaptor for HD2 is TC-P300 which is exactly the same as my HD's adaptor. So they are interchangable by swapping the USB cables!
its also the same as my brothers diamond charger
normally, you can use every usb charger.
if it doesnt work with your leo, it won't charge, but nothing should happen to your device.
DN41
Yup, it is exactly the same charger. (5 Volt 1Amp )
Same situation, changed from an HD to a HD2.
That's good! That mean any of those car cigarette lighter plug with USB output can be used with the appropriate USB cable to charge our HTC phone in the car? Don't need to buy the original car charger from HTC?
you can also charge your ipod with your hd2 chargers adapter.just connect the ipods' usb cable to the charger and plug in

i would say about 99,9% does it. maybe there are 1 or 2 out there, which dont work. but normally, all of them should work.
DN41
Yup, but check Tbattery. I have this tool in NRG rom and it shows you how much current goes, or comes, from your battery.
From what I believe is that there are 2 states and 2 modes.
The mode is actually the source to where your HD2 is connected to. This is either a standard USB port on your laptop or the other one a charger.
If it is connected to the standard USB port it will draw a max of 500mA which is the max a USB should be able to deliver.
The charger can provide 1 Amp which is 1000mA, which means half the charge time till full.
You have to know that there are actually 4 conductors on the 'big' USB connector. Ground, 5 Volt and D+ and D- (the actual data).
The HD2 knows that it is connected to the charger when D+ and D- are connected to eachother. (no harm done btw)
Now some carchargers can deliver 1 Amp but they don't have the D's shorted and the HD2 only pulls 500mA from it since it doesn't see it as a 'HTC' charger.
The state is determined on the batt's %
If it is below 90% I believe it charges at full Amps (depending on the mode) above it goes in slow charge.
Looks like nowaday, we just need an adaptor with a USB output and various USB cables to charge different phones. Not too long ago, we need to carry one charger for each phone. haha....
Thanks for all those who replied!
I use a Nokia N97 car charger and it works very well. I'm guessing a normal N97 power adapter could work as well to charge your HD2.
info & caution.
Any USB port should be able to charge your HD2 & micro USB is the new standard charging specification, so it should become really common over time.
However, be careful what else you plug in! I bought a 3.2mm to micro USB adapter. It was fine on a standard Nokia charger (which delivered about 4.5 volts), but another one which put out about 7 volts, blew my poor HD2 up :-(
I got it repaired though. They replaced the main board = new IMEI etc, which would have been expensive out of warranty! Lucky me, but being without my HD2 was kinda hell!
I have checked the voltage out of that car charger. A friend of mine tested it before too on his HD2. N97 has a bigger voltage battery (1500 mA). He had problems finding a decent car charger for his HD2. He eventually bought 2 non-original chargers for an N97 and HD2. He took the connector from the non-original HD2 car charger, he cut off the connector for the N97 and he put the HD2 connector (he is an electrician, do not try this if you don't know what you are doing). He advised me to buy an original N97 charger that should work. I did buy one original car charger and I am satisfied with it. My HD2 is still in one piece without any service calls. I am saying that a N97 car charger should work just fine on an HD2.

This might have happened to me? It would not charge with my 500 ma USB supplies (computer nor the AC USB power adapter. Nor would it charge with my AC USB power adapter of 1 amp.
So I used my HTC HD2 car charger, plugged into my AC-12 volt car charger outlet, and it charged ok.
Two weeks later, nothing. So waiting for an external HTC HD2 battery charger from an eBay supplier. Tried different HTC HD2 batteries & HTC HD2 USB cables. No luck yet.
I got an aftermarket charger in my area since original ones were not available. It says on the label though it's for Galaxy Tab but the max amp is 2100mA min 150mA and the usual 5volts. Is it safe to use even if the original one says 2000A?

Yes,where did u get it,I need one
Just some cell phone shop in my area. My original question was I was asking if it's safe to use even if it has higher amps.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA Premium App
technically, its ok to charge at a higher amperage, it would just entail that you would be able to charge it faster.
but there might be a risk of overheating the battery during charging and that might lead to problems in the long run.
on the other hand, 100mA wouldn't be much of a difference.
It will be perfectly fine. The units charging circuitry will only use as much current it requires, heck you could charge it from a 10Amp 5volt supply with no troubles. I have used in the past an old pc power supply rigged up to some usb sockets to charge various usb devices without any trouble. They are capable of supplying upwards of 20amp @ 5volt.
Btw, i am a qualified electronics technician of 12years experience, i have experimented a LOT.
@baskarz thanks for clearing everything up baskarz.
@prinzhernan could you post a pic of what the charger looks like? thanks

2A chargers will work with the SGT, but you need an adapter like these that I bought.
http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-car-wall-ch...ccessories&hash=item2c5c07736b#ht_3085wt_1163
Reason is the ones that says "For Galaxy Tab" chargers have resistors soldered to the usb port allowing the SGT to know it's connected to an AC adapter and to pull the full amount of power it needs. The adapters have the resistors in them allowing u to use any cheap charger. It allows you to charge with a standard computer/laptop usb port as well. I think it's supposed to charge faster than the trickle charge you get without the adapter but I have yet to try it out. There's another thread that goes into way more detail about it and even how to solder your own resisters to make your own adapters. Think it was this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845844&highlight=usb+charge
you can charge anywhere were there is a USB port. Just make this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845844&page=3
that tells your galaxy tab to DRAW POWER from the USB port thinking it is the supplied CHARGER. you can use ANY USB port or charger with this.

Hi Ricey
Correcto, my post can help anyone who wants a 2nd charger to be permanent in office or etc
And most importantly not buy the regular 2A without the resistors inside.
Awesome. Sounds great.
Bought a 3rd party data/charging cable for my Streak and I noticed that it took 2-3 times longer to charge that the Dell cable. Anyone having this same issue?
Yes, experienced the same thing! If the battery is low on power the charging goes relatively quick but charging slows down after >65% recharge. I also noticed that the cables did not charge the Streak via my laptop's USB. I also noticed that a Nokia telephone charger (5V 500mA) charges more quickly compared to the stock Dell charger (5V 1000mA).
Go figure!
same here,
I heard that some cable is made to be for the purpose of data transmission,
while other is for charging.
not sure if this is the reason.
This is a curious issue. I bought the 3ft cable from ebay seller ewwtnet and see no such problems.
I had assumed that all of these cables were from the same manufacturer but perhaps not.
I got two 6 foot cables off eBay and they work just fine in the house. The car I use a real car charger and not the USB adapter/data cable method.

when the usb cable connect to my laptop is charging my xt860 without any problem.
but in my car it's not (with the iphone it's charging perfectly)
any idea?
Whatever car charger your using is not supplying enough power to charge the phone. A lot lf laptops will have a continuous 5v (just enough to chage the phone). But the car charger prob only puts out 4v and the iphone is alright with that (charge really slow) but the phone is picky (won't charge at all). All I can say is try another car charger.

I grabbed a Motorola brand one off Amazon for $5 and have never had an issue. But any brand name microusb car charger should work as long as it puts out enough current.
Does anyone know why the One might behave differently on a car USB charger compared to a Galaxy S3?
I noticed my One was charging slowly or not at all when in the car. Using the power stat screen in the SystemPanelLite free version it shows the One is only connected at USB charge power, not "AC" power. However if I plug this same cable into my old Galaxy S3 it shows in SystemPanelLite that it is charging at full AC speed. I tried both the One and S3 default charging cables, no difference.
I'm using a car charger rated to put out enough amps for full speed charging, and it works great with the S3. With my One I tested it just plugging it into the charger that came with it (AC outlet, not in the car) and only then do I get full AC charging speed.
Anyone have ideas on how to get full AC charging speed on the One in the car? Any suggested car chargers confirmed to charge at full speed?
quick charge is disabled. you also need to make sure the charger is at least 1A @ 5V.
On previous HTC phones, I'm led to believe that the data pins on the USB connection are shorted inside the charger, and that's how it detects AC vs USB. It's not AC arriving at the phone of course, in reality it's 5VDC, with "AC" it draws 1A vs 0.5A for USB.
If the USB cable is not wired appropriately, the HTC One will slow charge so that it doesn't draw more than the USB standard 500 mA. Your charger needs to be wired accordingly so that the HTC One knows that the charger is capable of supplying more current, otherwise the device won't pull the extra current to fast charge. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=844284 for details.

Will this charger work with the HTC One @ 1A? http://shopamerica.htc.com/product/productpop.htm?prId=41645
Well at this point I'm looking for anyone who can confirm they have a car charger/cable combo working with the One that will charge at or near 1 amp.
I don't think my cable is at fault since I've tried multiple ones, including the AC one that came with the One.
Although my current car charger worked great with my GS3, I guess the One is more picky. So can anyone recommend one that will definitely do 1 amp with the One?
the data function on the car kit cable doesnt work as well...plugged into computer and charges but nothing else (to bad to, liked the length of the cord)

This is right, I had same issues with s3, resolved by buying a genuine Samsung charger. Before my Google maps drained more than it could charge. What's odd is that the s3 charges fine on his cable, unless different pins are shorted on an htc?
