Can anyone tell me how to remove custom gingerbread Rom (Build Number: MicroMod v.20) and install the factory Rom? I'd greatly appreciate your help
Hey
You can return to stock using the PASSIMG.zip method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik...des_&_Tutorials#Unroot_.2F_Restore_your_Nexus), but that will remove root. If you want to preserve root then just download a prerooted stock Froyo/gingerbread rom and flash it after wiping your data through your custom recovery, though be sure to backup your data via titanium before you do so.

Greetings!
Heres the deal:
Samsung Captivate
Rooted with Clockwork via recovery in system/bin without signature req.
ROM manager - Backing current system rom
Titanium - Backing all app + system data
Im deciding to flash cognition 4.1 for specific reasons. One being that the ROM is based from UCKB1 (correct me if this is not the case)
Ive flashed the more difficult cm7 ROM as a first time flash (the very first rom I've flashed)
Back to stock froyo rooted bloat removed yaddi yadda
I understand I have to put the new cognition 4.1 onto the sd card and flash via clockwork...right?
Heres the question:
If I, for whatever reasons, Feel I want to go back into the ROM (system) I have running on the captivate currently...
Flash back to stock with Odin
Root
From here (2.1 eclair), Can I use the backup I have saved from ROM Manager to receive stock UCKB1 froyo? without having to use KIES for the update?
be harsh be nice idc
thanks!
-regards
Back To Stock
Yes,
As long as you first flash back to out of the box stock (typically with Odin) before doing so.
ROM Manager creates an image of your entire current platform when you perform a backup. Flashing the image back via restore image, you need to basically undo all the customizations added through flashing a custom ROM.
Hope this helps...

restore image?
From rom manager correct?
Hey, so I decided to root my Mini. That part worked (installed the zip from stock recovery) but then I attempted to install the CWM recovery using the update zip method and I don't know whether I should of used ODIN instead because I can't backup my current ROM.
If I tried flashing CWM recovery using ODIN , will it overwrite existing recovery and will it allow me to backup my current ROM. Can't mount system can't mount cache errors??
Just to verify also, I wipe user data before installing new custom ROM ? Been a while since i last installed one.
Thanks for your help!
Flashing CWM will overwrite current recovery, you'd have to flash stock to remove it
As for creating backups you can't backup stock roms because of how they work, the closest to stock that can be backed up (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1176927)
Hello,
I was wondering, if i simply restore to a backup i've made of my stock rom with CWM, and un-root my device, will i have my warranty again?
or does that need extra steps?
Thanks

Dear friend only restoring stock rom backup and un-rooting your device will not entitle you to warranty. You have to also remove CWM and restore it with stock recovery or ur warranty will be void.
You must flash an entire pure stock ROM with Smartflash, it will wipe everything, including recovery. See related threads in dev section.
I have a very similar situation, I need to get back to stock for warranty purposes. I installed CWM recovery using: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1327599
I made a backup of my stock rom after installing but before installing SU. So I can restore that backup, since I hadn't installed SU yet, does that mean it would have still been unrooted and if so is there just a simple way to remove CWM recovery? As I don't know what my original stock ROM was so I wouldn't know which one to flash. Would this just work to get rid of CWM recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021554
EDIT: NVM i just ended up using smartflash.
Hi there, i am on stock rom 4.3 and i am considering to flash a custom rom. It is going to be my First flash of a custom rom and i am wondering if something is not working as it should, will i be able to return to stock with no problems? If i install a custom Kernel as well will kies install stock firm as usual (to return to stock)? Or the only method is a full backup and restore? Restoring method restores kernel too? Thank you for your help.
U must rooting your device, next install custom recovery and backup your rom, thats all, and next try the first install omni rom
I am already rooted. Omni is one of my thoughts. Should i flash a custom kernel after omni or it is not mandatory?
Can I just unroot without installing stock ROM over the existing stock ROM?
Thanks very much in advance.
Details:
-rooted only, stock rom
-never flashed rom before
-model i9305
(earlier on I was stuck on samsung logo after reseting while still rooted, but I solved that by going to stock recovery to run its factory reset.)
Eventually I went the usual way and installed stock rom. took 5 hours to download and fortunately it was correct stock so all good now.
Install Super SU from Google Play and go into settings and choose Permanent Unroot
