Can I just unroot without installing stock ROM over the existing stock ROM?
Thanks very much in advance.
Details:
-rooted only, stock rom
-never flashed rom before
-model i9305
(earlier on I was stuck on samsung logo after reseting while still rooted, but I solved that by going to stock recovery to run its factory reset.)
Eventually I went the usual way and installed stock rom. took 5 hours to download and fortunately it was correct stock so all good now.
Install Super SU from Google Play and go into settings and choose Permanent Unroot

Can anyone tell me how to remove custom gingerbread Rom (Build Number: MicroMod v.20) and install the factory Rom? I'd greatly appreciate your help
Hey
You can return to stock using the PASSIMG.zip method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik...des_&_Tutorials#Unroot_.2F_Restore_your_Nexus), but that will remove root. If you want to preserve root then just download a prerooted stock Froyo/gingerbread rom and flash it after wiping your data through your custom recovery, though be sure to backup your data via titanium before you do so.
Hi, I have a uk vodafone nexus one with stock 2.2.1 frg83d. I have been trying to update to stock gingerbread via frg83g without any luck. I used super one click to root my phone and have unlocked the bootloader. The problem is every time I try to flash a different rom frg83g, gingerbread or cm 6.1.1, it says that the update was ok and goes to the reboot screen, but when I reboot it just hangs at the boot animation screen. Am I missing something? any help much appreciated.
On just about any custom ROM page it clearly says:
WIPE EVERYTHING before installing.
Ok, I want to Get MY sprint Galaxy tab back to stock, UnRooted, and without a custom recovery, How can I do this? I am currently running SpaceMoose's Honeycomb Alpha 2.5
search for the EA24 stock flasher. Get Odin and flash the file from there. Complete stock 2.2, then you can go through the OTA updates to 2.3.4.
Can you please give me links? also will this restore the bootloader?
here's the thread you want (all the info for Sprint Tab's)

When I flash back to stock EA24, my old apps are still there. I get prompted to use Dolphine Browers and Launcher Pro. They are even still listed in the Installed App.

The stock flash (I always use Odin instead of the SWUdater) always wipes everything out, if your old apps are still there, you can always do a wipe from settings or recovery, then do the stock flash.
How do you do a recovery? I tried returning to stock and that did not work.

you can do it from settings > privacy and do a factory data wipe, or you can power off your device and then hold vol. up and power to get into recovery and wipe data and cache from there.
Ahh, i tried both already and the installed software comes back. Even after I flash it with EA24.
I give up ;/ I cannot install any samsung rom above 4.3. When I do, my phone stucks on samsung logo and just refuse to turn on (its not a bootloop - it doesnt restart)
I have xxbmb4 bootloader, I have installed this rom and Hbo Kernel. What else can I do?
p.s. I can install any AOSP rom and it works just fine. And yes I do full wipe every time
No need to give up
I had the same problem yesterday.
My device was on 4.3 and I flashed Philz touch recovery and did a backup without a problem. But when i restored a backup and rebooted it was stuck at the Samsung logo. After trying so many things all day (wiping, cleaning caches, trying to root, reflashig recovery, .... ) following was worked.
flashed 4.4.4 STOCK-Official rom using Odin v3.07. then it booted SUCCESSFULLY.

then rooted it using the following guide (did not use any recovery. Only rooted it using CF-Auto-Root-m3-m3zh-gti9305.tar.md5. and installed SuperSU version 2.02 provided in the post.

:good::good:
but then I will have new bootloader with this KNOX sh1t right ? ;/
I have a SM-G800F that's been running 4.2.2 forever. Last night I attempted to upgrade to 5.1.1 using Odin, afterwards I'm caught in a bootloop (just the Samsung logo). I tried recommended steps of wiping cache / factory reset from the recovery menu but no dice. I then attempted to flash 6.0.1 stock onto it, same problem.
Any help would be appreciated. When it was on 4.2.2 it was rooted with stock samsung fw and TWRP installed.
Just to add an update here, I flashed TWRP on it and then a LineageOS 14.1 Custom Rom with little hassle. Still not sure why the stock upgrade failed, possibly due to it being rooted already. Runs Android 7.1 beautifully so far.
