[Q] Gingerbread screen lock animation - Xoom Themes and Apps

Does anyone know how to get the Gingerbread screen lock animation on the Xoom? I have seen it on a youtube video so I know someone out there has done it.
Thanks!

I hope you mean the Screen-Off animation... I would love to see this aswell.

Look at this app- have it on my Xoom and looks much like the gingerbread animation and it adds a "lock screen" icon wherever you want to put it- makes locking the device if its flat on a table easier. GREAT program and works flawlessly, plus the icon matches Honeycomb perfectly. Have this on my Atrix and Xoom.

Could you link that video? I can't find it.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App

Play the video of the app I linked above (In the app description) and see if thats the lock animation you saw- its the old TV off, like in gingerbread.

Since I'm still new I can't post a link to an outside video, but if you search Gingerbread Lock Xoom on youtube it should be the first video that comes up.
The Screen Off and Lock app that Err0xx posted looks like the video.
Thanks Err0xx!

Yep, this is it. By the way, great app, especially for us, lucky xoom owners, with on/off button on the back

It may be possible to do this natively, but we need the source code first in order to find out.

Would THIS help us achieve native support?

No. We cannot decompile honeycomb yet. And since google won't release the source, you will have to wait a long time.

I don't have any problem decoding framework-res.apk. The only thing we cannot do with Honeycomb files is deodex them*, but this is just a resource file.
The issue I have is trying to repackage it. In several string translations google uses substitution strings like "%d of %d". The problem is the later versions of aapt are strict and do not allow this.
See here: http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_thread/thread/017d92dd987a8682
I have tried changing the strings to use positional formatting (%1$d of %2$d etc) and also using formatted=false but so far I have only been successful in making the Xoom crash
*Actually, we can de-odex the files but recompiling them is an issue

Well I got it working. I think my issue was apktool was compressing the resources.arsc file.
Only problem now is that it only works in portrait mode

Made a thread in the dev forum with native solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?&t=1015857

definitely going to watch this, its usually the first thing i show my android friends who ask about gingerbread

I got an idea. Just need the commands to pull the .apk using adb
Awesome, I'm guessing it should be easy since its only the drawer that doesn't fit the screen.

I kept updating everytime a new version came out and just hoped that it would support our screens, haha.
If this can be adjusted for our usage, I think I'd use it over ADB!
Anyone mind posting the .apk, I just can't remember the command since I am now using apps2ext. If I had my old magic, I would have finished by now

Here is the apk, i grabbed it from my sd ext using root explorer, im pretty sure this is the right apk, if not please let me know.

[REQ] Rotate animation

Is there a way to get a let's say iPhone like screen rotate animation? That turn, wait, refresh we have atm is pretty boring. :rolleys:
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I'd also like to have that awesome animation.
Also i'd like to get that keyboard animation working too.. have tried everything but it wont work.
Which keyboard animation?
This one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLYdb2yK9DY
Go to the one minute mark. On the Desire in that vid (and DHD) you can see there's no animation, then on the nexus you see the keyboard slide up smoothly.
Ah yeah, that would be nice as well.
Is there really no dev who wants to look into that?
Or shall I reopen that thread in the dev section?

There are no screen rotation animations in Gingerbread. The screen off animation is the only real addition, since Froyo.

The way it looks, Honeycomb will remain strictly a tablet OS. That said, many of the features, especially the eye candy, are expected to be merged into AOSP code in the near future. Let's hope for big things when 2.4 is released.

Okay, here is the link to the smart keyboard. and here is the theme http://www.mediafire.com/?yy778k6t2nvltj7. I'd like the keyboard background to be black with fading blue glow around the borders of each key. That's basically all I have for now lol. If you want to add your own touch to it please do.
Ok im out with friends right now, and i think its gonna get late. But tomorrow ill see what i can do
Edit: i think u should remove the smart keyboard link, cause its paid. But im gonna pm it to u as soon as im done.
Edit2: I`ve looked at it and those r all *.9.png`s. To edit them i have to Decompile the apk and Recompile it. And i really have no idea how to compile signed market apps.

Completely forgot about theme chooser, could try doing it with that, but it will take a while cause ive never done that before, another thing i could try is just to make a fake apk to compile the .9.png and see if it works when i put them into the smartkeyboard.apk. ill report when im back on the computer.

Yes, but that only works for .png if u do that with .9.png u mess it up completely. The only thing u could do with .9.png is to let them run through a specific script (read the name somwhere on the net but cant remember) and just change the rgb values. Besides that i never tried it and cant tell if it works, theres still the problem, that u couldnt just make blue outlines on the keys or fade the bg from black to blue.
If u've been able to do that, tell me how, coz i never got .9.png to work without compiling them in an app.

That's why I was so confused on why you guys were trying to modify the skin of the keyboard from the .apk. The actual application supports themes that makes it easier. It's like trying to reskin CM7 when there's a built-in theme manager. Just use the theme manager, it gets the job done easy and quick.
Enjoy.

[APP, ROOT] TabletBar Hider - fullscreen in Honeycomb, no system bar!

Hey Guys!
I just wanted to mention here that I made a new app you guys might like. It lets you hide the tablet/system bar when in landscape mode! A lot of people have complained about not being able to do that, so I just wanted to point my app out here. I'm not really clear on the rules for duplicate posts for stuff like this, so I'll just link to the original thread in the general paid apps section:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16850588
I tested this on a Galaxy Tab 10.1 with the latest update, so if you have that it should work. Though hopefully it works on all honeycomb tablets! I'm still trying to get my hands on some others...

Yeah, I wasn't even sure if any of the ROMS we have now have it. I just figured I would write the app anyway and see if anyone likes it.
And yeah, when the source hits I'm sure this won't be necessary, but that will probably be a few months away, so I figured it was worth it.

Lovin the fullscreen now!

Megarom development

Ok guys, im sorry I haven't gotten back at ya in a while but I have made wonderful progress, I am done with the rom. Only one problem, apktool is giving me this weird issue that I am not sure on how to fix but I had an epiphany on the rom and what is in it
What is going to be in this rom?
Shot of adrenaline
Complete red ics theme, transition animations and every thing
And a thanks to jrummy on letting me use liberty as a base for the rom,
AOSP rom later on in the distant future
Planned release date: as soon as I clear the issue w/ apktool
Please make requests in comments.

RESTART option next to SHUT down
Better BlurCamera from Atrix
and some free aplications already installed, like Ymess,Gtalk,skype,facebook,office,...and feel free to add.
some start-up tweaks options, because i belive that less animations/sound means faster start-up.
1% Battery Increments
Build.prop edits for speed and increased battery life
Built-in permanent root via mount_ext3.sh file in bin
- GSM fix from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1326310
- Power toggles in drop-down-notification
- Better camera from Atrix (if needed vs the new 5.7.xxx rom)
- Options for Universal Inbox and Default text and maybe other requests (maybe like liberty rom options?)
- permanent root
Thanks! I'll check it out once its released
Yeah all of these requests with a non black theme perhaps, we have a few black them'ed roms already. Universal inbox is the biggest request I have and the stock lock screen with stock media player, these are all I need.

reboot in power options
if u can, make the ics lockscreen the main lockscreen (get rid of sliding door completely)
