Hi
Just rooted my o2x with 2.2.2 stock ROM with z4root ver. 1.3 and thought I would share.
worked like a charm and went straight through. Super user installed, and apps that need root ask for access and is granted.
/Lars
nice from you sharing, but please, try to use existing threads in the future. That would keep this forum a lot cleaner, and information more focused
Strange, i try z4root, go smoothly, but after that, i try other root app and it doesn work
Do i need to do something after z4root finish?

No problem mate Existing threads are easily missed. androidforums has a nice feature for this (shows existing threads based on your entry in the title field) maybe somewhere in the future this could be implemented here to.
Will the roots work on 2.2.2? The O2X comes with 2.2.2 in Norway at least.

What exactly are the benefits of rooting? What are the most popular programs or tweeks that needs rooting? (Sry, I'm a bit new to this)

I use Cache Cleaner NG, which... yeah... cleans the cache, once or twice a day (you decide). This keeps up the performance of your phone.
Besides that, you can remove unwanted stock apps, that takes up space and memory.
Also, you can overclock, but I don't approve of that.
You can install "Adfree" from market, and remove commercials from apps on your phone.
Titanium backup, backs up apps + data, if you decide to install a custom ROM, and want to restore you savegames e.g. afterwards
Finally, you can change the theme (custom battery mod and so on and so on)
Basically, a lot of cool stuff, and the list is much longer, but now I hope you've got an idea

Thank you so much
it reminds me a bit of jailbreaking which I've done since iOS 1.
Now i really think that iOS sucks compared to Android.
Nazi Apple haven't really changed "anything" since iOS 1, compared to how Android has developed.
I'm looking forward to getting the LG O2X!!!

Super1click didnt work for me. It said rooting completed, and super user was installed, but super user didnt grant root apps access.

Super one click oftene only works after a reboot.
Ill bet you that z4root did not do anything and it was s1c that started to work after reboot.
Z4root has been verefied many many times as not working on the production version of the o2x.

Android 2.2 comes with the new feature for full flash support. Here how it’s work google just integrated a plugin called com.google.android.feature.GOOGLE_PLUGIN. And Flash uses it to embed itself inside browser. So browser in android 2.1 mobile phones does not see plugin. Now if you are owner of Android 2.1 or 2.0 smartphone then download theAdobe Flash 10.1 apk application below and get full flash support for your Android 2.1 or 2.0 mobiles.

Tried it.. doesn't work! I tried running the hulu app that I have up on the Evo thread, n nothing. :-(
I don't know if deleting the flash 9 plugin might help, but I doubt it. Lemme me or us know if this becomes available, correctly.

The reason it worked on the Evo was b/c the sense UI used "Flash Lite".. There was a 2.1 Flash install that would upgrade the Flash lite to full Flash.. The epic does not have any version of flash at all.. =\

This is wrong. The Epic also ships with Flash Lite. There is also no way to 'upgrade' Flash Lite to 'Flash Full' -- it simply doesn't exist for 2.1.
Any Flash you see floating around for 2.1 is just Flash Lite.
The Flash Lite plugin on the Epic does allow you to view flash on a few sites already, without installing anything else. Try going to Youtube -- videos should play in the browser, they'll just run like ****.
i know that the web broser skyfire allows u to see flash content on the Epic cause i tried it. and im not rooted so i know someone around here has the talent to implement into stock browser the skyfire works well but is very corny not better than stock browser, so if anyone knows someone that knows someone see if they will be willing to give it a try.. hopefully it will get going cause theres alot of talent around here and if its possible it can be done it will be done here.. just a thought. thanks guys http://http://www.skyfire.com/

You won't be able to implement Skyfire's method into the stock browser -- Skyfire takes the flash content, and converts it on the fly, on their servers, and then sends the video down to the phone in a playable format.

Breif History:
This ROM came to be by being bored and not sure what else can be modified with the software Moto so lovely gave us on our devices. I stumbled on the Droid2 SDK and gave it a look to see what was inside. To my surpise it was a clean ROM. No signs of Blur. I thought to see if it would boot on device and it did. The resolution was horrible and the device was so slow. I told Matt and we began to get the system up and running. In no time we had a more stable system. AOSP packages were created for our app folder and here we are now. Along the way Drod2169 asked if I needed some help porting it over to the DX so he joined up to help us create the DroidX version.
About ROM:
First Vanilla ROM for Droid2, DroidX & Droid2 WE!
First ROM for Droid2, DroidX % Droid2 WE that can be overlocked!
This is not an AOSP ROM but all stock packages are built from source. It is a complete set of vanilla Android applications. All Blur has been removed so it is the closest you will get to a true AOSP clean ROM for the Droid2/X/WE/Pro right now. This is not a themed ROM to make it look like AOSP ROM.
The purpose of this ROM was to remove all Blur and have a real Android experience. Please do not ask to add anything to ROM. Everything that is missing can be found in the Add On folder that was created when you installed ROM or can be downloaded from market.
The installed applications are all of your basic Android apps. Gmail, Voice Search, Car Home, YouTube and some other apps are missing since there are more updated versions on the market.
ROM has root, deodexed and zip alligned.
All downloads and support will be provided HERE.
It is hard to support so many different forums so that will be our new home base for now.
Thanks!
hold hold hold hold
Downloading now.

umm... there isn't anything wrong with root in this ROM. It's not part of the instructions but here's the steps for me to easily get root.
1. Launch Files or Astro from app drawer.
2. Browse to /sdcard/Fission/Essential_Apps
3. Install superuser.apk
4. While you're there, install DroidXBootstrap.apk as well to test root.
Hope this helps.

Those apps are worthless when you cannot get su permissions because you are no longer rooted. Even worse when you cannot reroot because phone no longer recognizes usb... don't tell me there are no issues. I have battery pulled, factory reset and still no usb. So unless someone can help me out, I am stuck with this rom that has no problems, due to the fact I cannot nanoid due to NO ROOT.

Ok, I've been confused on this matter since Fission 1.0: I noticed the pics for this ROM on the topic linked to in the OP show an AOSP unlock screen, but I still have the normal one (with music controls) just themed to LOOK AOSP. Is this how its supposed to be? I was REALLY hoping for the aosp lockscreen, because for some reason the normal one bugs the crap outta me lol.
thanks for any answers
blah blah blah
lol.... everyone is taking everything way to personal! So the released rom had an issue.. 1st it was easy to fix and 2nd if you have gotten this far with your X you better know how to at least install root! Yelling at the developers who dedicate their time completely for free will get no one anywhere...
This is a great ROM and the developers should be commended for it!

Hey,
I am in the process of delivering a rom that should be very simple.
Little Apps, Little clutter.
Custom Boot Animation
Based on the 2.1 Open Europe rom.
Rooted with Superuser installed
plain white status bar (until i do a bit more learning)
stock launcher
Better Keyboard
Browser
Calendar
Camera
Clock
Contacts
Email
FM Radio
Gallery
Home Selector
Market (doesn't work)
SlideMe instead of market
Media Player
Messaging
Phone
Root Explorer
SIM Toolkit
Task Manager
Voice Recorder
Settings.
Install from recovery only.
1. Copy "flyboyovyick" folder to your sdcard>clockworkmod>backup
2. Boot your phone into Recovery (Home+Power)
3. Backup & Restore
4. Select the "flyboyovyick" folder
5. After the reboot it should work.

The purpose of making it is to create a clean rom for people that might not want everything customised. eg. having a blank cardboard box. You can do anything with it.
A simple rom for simple people.
The improvements will be that it might be a bit faster and a bit more space.
i will in the future be creating a rom that is customized

Wow! This app is just perfect! Instead of 300000 apps to all do one thing, just one to do everything!
Wow...im definetely goin to try this one out! THANK you for posting
Edit: is it compatible with the ICS port?
Still have bugs:
First, tried uninstalling three apps. It uninstalls the first two and then gets stuck trying to uninstall the third. Tested this a few times with same result.
Second, tried making a backup of the rom which didn't work. It just reboots the phone without creating a backup. It's too dependent on Rom Manager which is a shame.
Third, tried installing a new font using this tool. It appeared to have installed it but there was no option to actually apply the new font.
If the above items would get fixed it would be a perfect app.
