Just out of interest are any of the active members of this forum considering creating a custom rom for the 2X?
Hopefully, because this is a crappy system you get out of the box. To many running apps that takes to much ram and slows down the system. To many pre-installed apps. So i'm really looking forward to a custom ROM. Does any one know how custom ROMS are made?
Well i hope lots of Devs get this phone as it is quite the powerhouse! Man i wish i knew how to make custom ROMs! there should be a dummys guide!! haha but yeah ive heard Paul O'Brien at Modoco is thinking of getting one.... now thats what you call support

SuperOneClick v1.7 worked fine, so my phone is now rooted
U can delete the apps. (Backups)
Or just rename them change ****.apk to ****.bak for example. Dont know if this will restore on reboot.
Maybe someone else can answer to this. Perm or temproot?

You can use rootexplorer to remove or move apk from /system/app. Preloaded fsecure is slowing down the phone, just delete it.
To make custom rom we need clockwork mod recovery on 2X
I have used z4root, and installed Titanium Backup. Is there any danger to uninstalling apps that are pre-installed?

No, you can disable lg home launcher from “home selector“ in the main menu. i have ADWlauncher instead of lg launcher and i don't see lg launcher anymore in system processes

What do you mean by "home selector" in the main menu? I don't have my x2 yet, so I suppose it's something special by LG? I don't know this setting from my HTC.

The purpose of making it is to create a clean rom for people that might not want everything customised. eg. having a blank cardboard box. You can do anything with it.
A simple rom for simple people.
The improvements will be that it might be a bit faster and a bit more space.
i will in the future be creating a rom that is customized
Make it root, take away everything except the essentials, use launcherpro as the default launcher and your done!

Hi
Just rooted my o2x with 2.2.2 stock ROM with z4root ver. 1.3 and thought I would share.
worked like a charm and went straight through. Super user installed, and apps that need root ask for access and is granted.

nice from you sharing, but please, try to use existing threads in the future. That would keep this forum a lot cleaner, and information more focused
Strange, i try z4root, go smoothly, but after that, i try other root app and it doesn work

I use Cache Cleaner NG, which... yeah... cleans the cache, once or twice a day (you decide). This keeps up the performance of your phone.
Besides that, you can remove unwanted stock apps, that takes up space and memory.
Also, you can overclock, but I don't approve of that.
You can install "Adfree" from market, and remove commercials from apps on your phone.
Titanium backup, backs up apps + data, if you decide to install a custom ROM, and want to restore you savegames e.g. afterwards
Finally, you can change the theme (custom battery mod and so on and so on)
Basically, a lot of cool stuff, and the list is much longer, but now I hope you've got an idea

Thank you so much
it reminds me a bit of jailbreaking which I've done since iOS 1.
Now i really think that iOS sucks compared to Android.
Nazi Apple haven't really changed "anything" since iOS 1, compared to how Android has developed.

Wow! This app is just perfect! Instead of 300000 apps to all do one thing, just one to do everything!
Wow...im definetely goin to try this one out! THANK you for posting
Edit: is it compatible with the ICS port?
Still have bugs:
First, tried uninstalling three apps. It uninstalls the first two and then gets stuck trying to uninstall the third. Tested this a few times with same result.
Second, tried making a backup of the rom which didn't work. It just reboots the phone without creating a backup. It's too dependent on Rom Manager which is a shame.
Third, tried installing a new font using this tool. It appeared to have installed it but there was no option to actually apply the new font.
If the above items would get fixed it would be a perfect app.

NSCOLLAB / BEST DAMN PHONE BECAUSE WE HAVE THE BEST DAMN DEVELOPERS!
I don't have a Galaxy Note myself so I can't try myself....
On the official Gingerbread ROM Samsung has messed up something so it was not possible to restore apps when you freeze them with App Quarantine, Titanium Backup Pro, and such....
There's a solution that managed to restore the app, but needs a reboot in order to work.
Now my question: is this fixed in the new ICS ROM or does the problem still persist?
firstly look where you write "android development"
secondly everything is working how it should be

Yes, I had build something similar in AQ. If a freeze/defrost does not succeed then it will patch the package configuration itself, which involves a reboot. I guess it's the same method like TB uses as "Power defrost".
I just want to know if this is still necessary with the ICS ROM

Hi Guys,
What's the best way to transfer app with app data from old phone to new? Most applications like Xender only move the app and requires customisation after this. I have had some success with Migrate, but is there anything better for the job?

Swift backup is very good too ! For root..
And free
A year ago I used OandBackupX (opensource and free) and it worked fine.

Titanium Backup is deprecated
for me titanum backup did the job and it restored most of apps with their data but for some apps it require instaling them first then restore the data only
btw you have to be rooted
