I don't have a Galaxy Note myself so I can't try myself....
On the official Gingerbread ROM Samsung has messed up something so it was not possible to restore apps when you freeze them with App Quarantine, Titanium Backup Pro, and such....
There's a solution that managed to restore the app, but needs a reboot in order to work.
Now my question: is this fixed in the new ICS ROM or does the problem still persist?
firstly look where you write "android development"
secondly everything is working how it should be

I need this knowledge to make sure my app is working as good as possible on all devices, therefore I consider this a development question. I'm sorry if you think this is wrong.
Edit: Moderators, if you think my post is in the wrong section, please move it.

Yes, I had build something similar in AQ. If a freeze/defrost does not succeed then it will patch the package configuration itself, which involves a reboot. I guess it's the same method like TB uses as "Power defrost".
I just want to know if this is still necessary with the ICS ROM

Just out of interest are any of the active members of this forum considering creating a custom rom for the 2X?
Hopefully, because this is a crappy system you get out of the box. To many running apps that takes to much ram and slows down the system. To many pre-installed apps. So i'm really looking forward to a custom ROM. Does any one know how custom ROMS are made?
Well i hope lots of Devs get this phone as it is quite the powerhouse! Man i wish i knew how to make custom ROMs! there should be a dummys guide!! haha but yeah ive heard Paul O'Brien at Modoco is thinking of getting one.... now thats what you call support

SuperOneClick v1.7 worked fine, so my phone is now rooted
U can delete the apps. (Backups)
Or just rename them change ****.apk to ****.bak for example. Dont know if this will restore on reboot.
Maybe someone else can answer to this. Perm or temproot?

You can use rootexplorer to remove or move apk from /system/app. Preloaded fsecure is slowing down the phone, just delete it.
To make custom rom we need clockwork mod recovery on 2X
I have used z4root, and installed Titanium Backup. Is there any danger to uninstalling apps that are pre-installed?

No, you can disable lg home launcher from “home selector“ in the main menu. i have ADWlauncher instead of lg launcher and i don't see lg launcher anymore in system processes

What do you mean by "home selector" in the main menu? I don't have my x2 yet, so I suppose it's something special by LG? I don't know this setting from my HTC.
I recently flashed my O2X and started to use CyanogenMod 7.1.0, but now since Ricardo Cerqueira have released a CM9 ROM with ICS I want to try it out.
I have ROM Manager and ClockworkMod Recovery installed, and cm9 + gapps ics is placed in the root of my SD.
Whats the best or easiest way to do an upgrade?

Make a full backup of your apps with titanium backup. After that go to clockworkmod and do a full nandroid backup. The apps with titanium you can recover after you install your new rom, and the nandroid backup from clockworkmod you can use to restore the full install you currently have. After backup is done, wipe all, and install the cm9 rom and directly after install the latest gapps. Reboot and enjoy ics. Use the market to download titanium and restore your apps. Be sure to buy titanium because recovering with the free version is a pain in the ass
Goodluck!
That was fast, thank you very much - I'll give it a try

Hi guys!
I installed in first CM9 build of 17/05/2012 and every thing was good. But GooManager ask me to make an upgrade to the 23/05/2012 build and i do it.
After the flash i installed the Semaphore kernel 1.2.0, a datafix to avoid the storage message and finally i install the Gapps.
I reboot my device, open titanium backup and restore my apps. But when i open most of my apps it's make me a force close. Slightly angry i reflash the JVU 2.3.6 rom and restore again my apps, and the same problem appear.
Consequent 2/3 of my apps are unusable.
Please help me !!!
PS: my device is Samsung Galaxy S I9000
actually kernel: Semaphore 1.2.0
actually Rom: CM9 build 26/05/2012 (IMM76I)

There has been an issue with a recent version of tb, I experienced it too. I think latest version resolved it. Restoring app only will work.
Using GT-I9000 my sent Tapatalk 2 from.
what was your previous rom? this happened to me after restoring Titanium backups.. May be because of the data fixer, i don't know...
Thanks a lot men i resolved the problem. It was the apps data who causes conflicts .
happy to hear that congratulations
This doesn't seem like a great solution. Most of the time the point of an app restore from TB is to get the app data. I have this problem anytime I upgrade a rom or switch to a new one. This never used to happen pre ICS at all, but even then early on in teamhacksung roms it worked fine. On AOKP/CM9 it doesn't.
How can I restore apps+data after a factory reset/rom upgrade/switch and not have 2/3 of my apps crash?

Actually I am facing the same problem as well...
Did a backup of "everything" and wiped and installed another build von CM9 - almost all apps I tried to restore WITH data are crashing, which is quite annoying, because I loose all my accounts / savegames / etc.
Before switching to CM9 this restore was never a problem...
Maybe your option with the symbolic links will work - hopefully... stay tuned...
update: does not work - even after enabling this setting, app restore works, but apps+data still leads to a crash
Make sure you use the latest version of tb. There was a version which created a lot of these problems a while ago.
But in a few cases, I don't know any other solutions than restoring app only. Then try your most important app data backups one at the time. It's most likely that your backups became corrupted, that's also a good reason to keep a backup history of more than one.
Using GT-I9000 my sent Tapatalk 2 from.
that's all you can do now I think, one at a time and find which ones work, tedious but that's the way it goes when you flash a lot, I just don't value too much data I in my apps, and let's face it....game data really isn't that important

All the settings - but ok, it is definitely not the end of the world - on the other hand, just backing apps without data? From my point of view, data should be restorable as well...
I have made a list of applications I've frozen without causing problems for my tablet.
If you also find applications which are safe to remove (which you actually did test them) from the ROM, post them here and I will add them to the list.
Please post as complete as possible, so with the app name, lost functionality and so on.
Removing apps from your tablet system is at your own risk.
List P3113
I remove over 30+ things from most ROM's I flash with Titanium Backup.
I would like to see this list for Stock 7", Stock 10", AOKP on both and CM9 on both. Could make a really useful thread.
Next time I flash mine I'll make a list for AOKP/7".
I just saw this topic and thought -- exactly what I am looking for, unfortunately the link returns a 404 Not Found Error
I'm sorry about that.
For the time being I have made a solution through Dropbox, so you can click again and download the file.
Fixed!
The original link is working again so now you got two options.

If you go to Settings > Applications > All you can find various apps and disable them, which is basically the same as removing them (They disappear from your device completely except for this screen) but allows you to restore them at any time if they are needed for something.

Thank you for your coorporation! Yes, the base is stock. Stock P5110.
OK. Then i will only root and try removing apps, before i start flashing.
I might even get it tomorrow, but i can't promise anything yet.
And as I'm new to this whole Odin thingy I must read a bit more about it to get the Tab rooted correctly.
But since i got some experience rooting HTC and Motorola devices I figure it'll be quick work=)
I'll upload the edited .xls when I'm done =)
After going through the list as i was testing apps i realized a few things.
1. The apps that are safe to remove on the P5110 are all safe to remove on the P3113
2. What apps are on the Tab2 differce from country to country.
3. Root uninstaller is not a 100% stable App.
With this i have to say, for P3113 Users, look at the list of the P5110. Because to me, at least, the P3113 list will look exactly the same as the P5110 List. Except for some apps that the P5110 have that i dont have, and the other way around.
I've adde the updated -xls, But tbh it just looks like a copy-paste of the P5110.
What about on the P5113?
Well. We would someone with the P5113 to test it.

1. Yes, I thought that as well. I think that the firmware of the various models, don't differ that much because I noticed my wifi device has a lot off apps necessary for phone abilities, thus the base of the stock ROM's are the 3G firmware.
2. I don't know exactly. I immediately noticed in your list a Kindle app that I didn't encounter in my ROM, but I haven't start with a thorough comparison.
My P5110 ROM contains 159 system apps. How many count yours?
3. I recommend Titanium Backup and Rootexplorer for freezing and removing. Those apps do the trick for me.
My stock rom had 155 or 156, I don't remember.
I've flashed my Tab2 with CM9.
