CWM 3.0.1.0 Lockup - Nook Color General

Wiped Dalvic using CWM to prepare to restore an older kernel. Now frozen on screen with Reboot Recovery as top choice. No buttons do anything. How do I unbrick?

I have had the same thing happen a lot with 3.0.1.0. Just hold down the power button until it shuts off, and the turn it on like normal.
Not sure what is going on with wiping cache and causing this, but I hope a fix comes out soon.
Trist

I run into this problem every single time when doing any kind of CWM work. As posted above, just hold down power button, and if you need back in CWM just hold down the power button and the N button for 5 seconds after the reading screen.

Worked! Thank you!

I found a way to keep it from locking up when wiping dalvik.
Go into wipe dalvik as normal but don't press yes.
Back out of the menu (power button) I then wiped battery stats (I don't know if this step is required) .
Then wipe dalvik like normal and it won't lock up.
If this works for others please post it in the dev forum (not enough posts yet) .

Just tested it again, no need to wipe battery stats.

So just hit "Wipe Dalvik Cache," hit the power button to back out of the menu, hit "Wipe Dalvik Cache" again, and then hit "Yes"?

[Q] Nexus One Recovery then clear dalvik cache

I am new to these boot menu.
I was told, clearing Dalvik cache may help clearing up some of the unused cache so I wanted to give it a try.
I was then told the procedure is like this:
1. turn off the phone
2. press vol down and press power once to get into the menu
3. choose recovery using vol down key and press power to choose it
But when I did all these steps, it goes to the N1 boot logo and then a screen with a "!" and an android and stopped. Is this normal?
I was told it is supposed to give me a menu to choose choose "wipe cache partition" then i can reboot your phone again (even though it may be a bit slower).
Anyone nice enough to give me a walkthrough?
Many thanks.
Once you see that ! With triangle around it hold power and hit volume up and it should take You to recovery

[Q] Nexus One stuck on reboot rainbow session.

First of all, I just to state the fact that I am a total newb and therefore knows nothing of any phone related jargon.
So my screen was unresponsive so I did the best thing I could do which was to turn the power off and start it up again. When I turned it on again, the multicoloured X is there and the rainbow fibres show began but at some point it gets stuck and begins again and gets stuck again and it goes on and on like that.
I have tried reboot and recovery and I really need my phone to function again.
Please, please help me.
Bootlooping.
Go to recovery, wipe cache + dalvik cache, wipe user data (if necessary format all partition except sd card), and flash your rom.

The forum should have a button to "Kick Ass" like that one "Thanks"...
You don't know the meanning of that little "box" on the right top of the page, right? It's to search!...
OK, I don't have a "Kick Ass" button and, once that I'm here having all this trouble, I'll answer you...
You need to flash your phone to re-install the firmware... now you can choose, or the method that we have to flash kdz files, or the Official LG Tool (basically the same...)
Now, before ask how to do that, search a little. We appreciate.
Some thing about this has just been posted in general

Try'd to flash my LG p880

Hi everybody,
First sry for my bad English.
I Try'd to flash my LG with a new rom.
But I couldn't mount system, so I can not format system. I've got 10h with root access. Any tips or something else?

Can you be more specific please, what rom did you tried to install? What problem do you have with your phone?

Why would you want to flash another ROM if you already have the latest?
To "mount" the phone, you have to plug it to the PC without the battery and while pressing the Vol - key
I tried to install the custoNexus rom. For that (instructions) I have to wipe data and format system. So I tried this.
I used the lg recovery app, boot into recovery and wipe data, after that I tried to format system and get an error that the system couldn't be mounted.
Once again I'm sorry for my bad English

Turn off your phone, press and hold the VOL - key then turn on the phone while holding the key...
Once you see the LG logo and the phone vibrates, you can let go... it will enter the recovery mode... then you'll see tha "wipe data" option... select that with the power button... confirm once again and then reboot...

I don't know very well what you're trying to do but, if you're talking about reset the phone to factory settings just turn OFF the phone (with the battery), press "Vol-" +"Power button", you'll be in Android Recovery System".
Now select wipedata/ factory reset and hit power button, in the next menu select "yes" and hit power button again.
Wait untill you have the first menu and select reboot and hit power button.
If you're trying to install any rom from Dexter, pay attention to the tutorial. If you need ask him for help.

INSTRUCTIONs
Factory reset / WIPE before you install, as during installation of this ROM it will only install and clean system partition automatically. you are responsible for factory reset .
Alternatively - use original recovery where you factory reset as well. (VOL- + powerOn, remove usb cable, or you get to wrong menu)
Install the release using latest ClockWorkMod , using "install zip from external sdcard". this is a regular "update.zip" type of install.
This zip do not include the CWM installer i made, so install it seperately, but do NOT press install cwm, just use it to start recovery.
If you want some default apps removed, just delete those in the zip file. you find them these in the /system/app directory
Settings panel might be divided in 2 rows. If you like the old phone 1 row panel, enter ROM control -> General UI -> enable dual panel , and enable it. exit setting and reenter and unclick it. and you are done.

slow boot up/start

Not sure if it was the new UI or Android 9 but has anybody else noticed that the start up seems to take ages? Certainly longer than previously?

I experienced the same issue as you after pie upgrade. However sorted it by wiping the cache. Now it's back to normal. Give it a try.

Great thanks for the speedy reply. I'll just google wiping the cache and let you know if it worked

It's very simple. Turn off ur Note 9. Once it's off wait for 10 secs. Then press the volume up + Bixby + power button together. Once you see the Samsung logo let go off the keys. Now you select wipe cache partition with volume up and down keys. Press power button to confirm. Once done select reboot now. That's it.

If wiping the Cache Partition doesn't work. Back up your device and perform a hard factory reset. That should resolve your software issues.
