[Q] OTA 2.3.3 update - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been waiting since I heard Google was sending on the gingerbread update to the nexus one's. However I still haven't received mine yet nor update 2.2.2.
Under settings /about phone:-
- Android 2.2.1
- Build: FRG38D
- Hboot: 0.35.0017
- Radio: 5.12.00.08
Any ideas? I have tried manually updating but didn't work for me.
Many thanks,
Luigi,

Manually update to 2.2.2. Then manually update to 2.3.3.

FRG38D aint it?

You're not running stock Google ROM. You're most probably running Vodafone modified firmware. In that case, you won't ever get Google OTA, you'll get Vodafone's - which isn't released yet, and who knows when will it be.
To install Gingerbread, you need to revert your phone to stock Google version. Read the Wiki and see, how. Look for "unroot/restore" guide.
You can also just root your phone and install one of the lightly modified stock GB ROMs (like Geo411's) from Development forum.

I'd say it's safe to just go on and update as notified. So straight to 2.3.3. That's what you're going to do anyway, right?

yes it is, thanks =)

Thanks for your help everyone! Finally got 2.3.3 =D
I'm loving it. Anyone know how I can come across the new version of nexus LWP?
Thanks

[Q] Restoring Korean Galaxy S to 2.1

Hello, i have a Korean Galaxy S, Anycall SHW-m110s,
using steps I found in this forum I upgraded it to froyo firmware DI29, using odin.
The build seems to be an incomplete build and it is quite laggy and buggy. I would like to restore and revert back to the original build, android 2.1 eclair, ECLAIR.DI03, however I'm having trouble finding out how to do that.
If anyone would be so kind as to instruct me how to do this, or instruct me as to where I might be able to find out how to do this, I would be so very appreciative.
Thank you for your time.

I assume you flashed di29 with odin. To go back you would flash di03 with odin the exact same way. If you do not have the rom you can search for "M110S-NPS-IMAGE-REV03-DI03-1545-USER.tar" and I am sure you will find it on numerous sites. After flashing di03 you will likely have to go into recovery mode and wipe fs and cache.
U risk bricking ur phone if u revert to eclair from froyo.

Of course there is always a risk but I have flashed the between dg14, di03 and di29 on an shw-m110s numerous times without any issues.
From my personal experience, as long as you are only flashing the PDA portion I wouldn't worry too much.
so how do i flash bak to eclair jm1 from froyo jp6 ? i read in different posts its possible , but all those who tried bricked their phones

You are obviously using a different model. You should ask others who use a similar model.

Has anyone figured out how to do this yet? Is there another thread dealing with it?
I have used KIES to update my SHW-M110S to Froyo
Baseband Version
m110s.sj26.1950.st
Kernel Version
2.6.32.9
Build Number
Froyo.sk05
I would like to revert it to ECLAIR also. I'm desperate and flash doesn't work!
I hope someone will chime in in response with a link to help out.
Thanks.

Should I flash my phone or wait for ATT froyo?

So basically I have a couple questions before flashing my phone to Serendipity 4.3
1. If I flash can I ever go back to "real stock"?
2. Since froyo is not out for the captivate. I was wondering if the 2.2 roms were real froyo roms? (Like the Serendipity 4.3)
3. Since froyo is coming out soon, should I just wait for the ATT version of froyo?
4. If I do flash, can I get the ATT version of froyo? (when it comes out)
Thanks for reading

Yes of course, all you'll have to do is an update through kies once you flash back to stock when it comes out.

As the rest have said, FLASH AWAY! Once you start, you'll see how addictive it really is. Try them all. They all have thier own pro's and con's
I sucessfully flashed my phone! I love my phone now, geezes I dont know why i waited sooooo long.
Thanks every1!
Probably going to flash a custom ROM (phoenix 4.1) for the first time this weekend. I currently have the AT&T 2.2 beta flashed from a one-click, but have never gone through the whole process. I have a couple questions.
1. Is the phoenix install instructions on the first page of the discussion in the development section complete? I was browsing through the discussion and some folks said there were some apps missing, like the music player (not that I used the stock one).
2. there are patches listed and it doesn't really say how to apply them. any guidance? rather than page through 700+ pages, is there a summary on how?
3. is there a lagfix in the Phoenix ROM or is it needed for 2.2.1 ROMs at all?

Each rom is done to the Dev's way so yes some remove some apps that they deem junk. Like all the att crapware that is installed. All the fixes are clockwork flashable that I know of. Most were for older versions of the rom. IF you follow the directions in the FAQ you will be fine, Just make sure then after you flash back to stock that you can get into recovery and DL mode with the 3 button combos just in case something goes wrong
cool thanks. looking forward to it.

Mod/Theming Question

Hey.
Yesterday I upgraded to 2.2 froyo and then rooted it. I was looking around and began to be interested in modding/themeing my phone. But, i'm unsure if I need to be on a custom rom or if being on the official rom is fine to use.
Thanks
Please Help Me!
I am currently running Firmware 2.2 Baseband Version UCJI6 Kernel 2.6.32.9 [email protected]#1 Build FROYO.UCJI6. I updated to that with odin3 so my phone hasnt been rooted either. Obviously I want to upgrade my phone to a more recent version of 2.2 but am not sure how to go about it. I tried to update the kb1 that was just released but kies mini will not read my phone. Can anyone please help me. Id really appreciate it. Thanks!

For modding you want an unthemed rom for themeing it doesnt matter.

Alright, sweet. I'll probably just stick with theming then. I'm pretty satisfied with official froyo, so i don't really want to go through the hassle of flashing a custom rom onto my phone just for a mod.
And i'm just gonna ignore the other guy's comment, lol.

for some reason nobody posted a 2.2 kb1 stock rom. all us americans are too obsessed with flashing i9000 roms or heavily modded roms. the only way to kb1 stock on this board is flash 2.1 and use kies mini to update, assuming you havent messed anything up that will prevent kies from recognising the phone like info in the efs partition.
oh right... i get confused by your damn numbers... kb1...
we had JI2 (2.1.1) and JL1 (2.2)
you know how long it took me to hunt that wrong one down?

Here is another one..more of the same I suppose. Both are froyo stock though, and I'm pretty confident either will work. This one definitively says use 512 pit and use the tar file you download as the pda.

I used this one to upgrade from stock 2.1 to stock 2.2 using Heimdall a while back with no problems to speak of. The phone ended up developing the same lag as 2.1 eventually so I have since gone with one of the many lagfixed roms.

Ya..I tried this update yesterday OTA and had the same issues (I'm rooted and unlocked with webtop hack)..after about 20% I get the exclamation mark in the triangle telling me its failed. I was hoping to log on this morning and find the sbf ready to upload
I have the french SBF installed and greyblur/root. - I havent tried it, I doubt it will work on the french SBF. I really didn't realize how screwed we bell guys are without a factory SBF to work with. I feel like we get shafted out of all countries that got the atrix.
I just got my battery life issues sorted out, So even if i were able to try it, I wouldn't want to, But maybe there are useful fixes in it for the developers. We are getting custom roms for the ATT phones. Hopefully bell and international are soon.
I saw a post on motorola's forums from a guy who has a bell atrix that wants them to post a factory sbf for us so that we are "on par" with other countries around the world. i agree.
Should we stay on 2.1.1 and wait to flash the modem only or is this version better than 2.1.1
I hAve a bell atrix..

I am/was rooted and I was able to do the update. Just a bunch of fixes in it I guess. No major changes except for the faster upload. That's nice
You will have to re-root after installing it though. Gingerbreak works fine.

I'm thinking of at least flashing the new radio after work today though. People seem to say it's better than the one shipped with 2.1.1. I'll keep checking these threads though to wait for more comments.
Thanks for sharing your comments and experiences, guys. It's always very much appreciated.
I Didn't say it wont work for the french SBF, I just haven't tried.
I'm at work right now and can't have my phone go down at all, or i'll get fired. Which is why im not just jumping in and testing it.
Can someone confirm if it works or not with the Telstra SBF? I'm not on stock sbf, im greyblurred. If it does work, i'll re-sbf this thing to 2.1.1, and run the bell update.
I think my issue is that i'm rooted/greyblurred. So unless is flash sbf, and then try, i doubt it will work here.
I tried to run this over the French SBF, but was unable to.

I took the Bell 37.23 update this morning.
My root was gone (I had originally rooted using GladRoot 4.3) and there was no longer any /osh/sbin/frozenfish.
I re-rooted my 37.23 using Gingerbreak 1.20 and it worked perfectly.
EDIT: just ran Speedtest.net mobile in downtown Montreal (great reception quality) and got 5737 kbps down and 2335 kbps up
Can I run the update even if i have froze all the bloatware? And will I have to re-freeze them after the update? ¸
I am kinda new to android but have a good experience in modding other mobile os (webos, wm5).
Thank you
quick question
i have french sbf
can i restore stock bell sbf to get this update
if yes where can i get stock bell sbf
