Month àgo my 3g used to be working, sudenly my 3g change to 2g.
I checked my settings and everything was fine.
I putt my sim in another phone and the 3g worked, so its not a sim problem.
My apn setting are good.
I tried everything and nothing solved the problem.
What can it be?
Check Settings - Wireless and Network - Mobile Networks - Network mode, it should NOT be GSM only. Try setting it to WCDMA only.
.
I already tried it. If i putt it on wcdma only i dont get any connection.
Backup data and then factory reset .
jje
How do i do factory reset?
Backup your data and apps using a program like Titanium Backup, then go to Clockwork Recovery and select Factory Reset/Wipe (or something similar).
I did wipe and change my rom few times and its doesnt work.
Dont know what rom you are using but i would try installing stock froyo via Odin .

Have you tried flashing a new modem at all???
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
Not yet. I dont know what kind of modem to flash.
If its your standard Galaxy S I9000 you should be able to flash any of the standard modems. I use JPY because it seems to have the best signal and battery life. If you search the forums a little you should find out how. Darkyys ROM uses it as standard

I have the same problem and I just repartitioned in Odin to JS7 and it still won't automatically go to 3G/HSDPA, I have to force it either through setting it to WCDMA only and then back to auto or through SGStools by setting it to WCDMA 1900 only and then add the others in combination bands. All of the APN settings are correct, my IMEI is still the same, my HSPA revision is set, phone information states WCDMA preferred, I've factory reset, cleared cache, cleared Dalvik cache, and as I mentioned earlier, flashed with repartition, and after all of that... I still have to force HSDPA access.

I recently flashed Darkyy's Gingerbread v8 and I cannot receive a 3G connection.
I have selected and unselected the "use packet data" and "data roaming" options as well as downloaded an app to turn on data connections incase it was needed, however still no luck.
I have WiFi connection, signal for messaging and calls.
Any help appreciated as I cannot find anything anywhere
SGS l9000
I would ask the rom developer .

Thanks, I've already sent a message
Do you know if it's safe to do a factory reset? Will this just take me back to 2.1 eclair?
It will not reset to ur stock firmware it will just delete all apps and settings. Did u check if u have any entries under settings/wireless settings/mobile network/access point names/ ? If not u should go on ur carriers page and resend the mms / internet settings.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
did you create the APN entry in Wireless settings?
Shrooms and Allgamer - No I havent got anything under APN.
How do I go about that?
(currently searching google - for some info)
I managed to find from my providers website the details for the "Internet" APN my 3G is working thanks for your help.
My WiFi is broke now though. Im presuming this is something to do with settings as well, if anyone knows why this is happening.
I am connected to the network I just have no data coming through.
Thanks
1. NEVER DO A FACTORY RESET AFTER INSTALLING A CUSTOM ROM! - Doing a factory reset will unroot your phone leaving a ROM/files installed on your phone that would only survive if the phone was rooted sometimes causing major issues.
2. Check to make sure you still have your IMEI. Use SGS toolbox (free) From the market. If you don't then use search on xda as there is a fix
3. It might be a modem issue. Try another modem from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9724862&postcount=14434 *If you are a bell, fido customer* or use a carrier that runs the 850 band then you should try to follow the instructions I have posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10533852&postcount=2525
Let me know how you go
Sorry I've just fixed it, I remembered I installed and APP called DroidWall and I never selected it to use WiFi...Sorry my fault.
Thaks everyone for your help, learned alot about my phone.
"I9000M Your SIM card does not allow a connection to network" after installing CM7
I have signal for emergency calls and everything, but my phone will not connect to the carrier. I verified that the phone's IMEI matched the one on the case and tried to manually select the carrier but have had no luck.
This is on Virgin Mobile btw.
Try flashing either the JK4, JL2 or KC1 modem from the 4th post of this thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1053304
(those are the ones that work with the 850mhz band)
Simply click on install zip from recovery, then chose the modem file.
My carrier is Bell and the JL2 works best for me.
You can also try wiping cache/dalvik cache from recovery, it solves a lot of problems.
My carrier is bell as well and I also find JL2 works the best

Can these be used with Darky's ROM? In an effort to make things work I tried a different ROM, same result though. All the numbers matching and everything still but no SIM. I also noticed that the signal type it's trying to use is GPRS and iirc Bell is HSDPA, no? I'm guessing that may have something to do with it?
I don't think so, the links I posted are for cm7. If you want modems for other roms, check over there :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876391
You can also try using the *#301279# dialer code to see if HSDPA is activated (but the code doesn't work on cm7)
I used ugkc1 for darkys rom in the past
I've been reading about enabling the 850Mhz frequency on my P1000. To go about that I will have to reflash my modem with a new modem.bin. So far I'm using the Overcome ROM and noticed that in their downloads sections they have modem update zips for CwM. So I was wondering if I could just grab one of those zips and then replace the modem.bin inside it with the one I've already downloaded and then repack it and use that with CwM?
And also:
In the past I've tried installing the CwM from ROM Manager while using the Overcome ROM, only to have it brick my tab requiring a restock using odin and reinstalling Overcome. Is the custom CwM recovery that comes with Overcome the only one that will work with the P1000 or am I missing something?
Sorry, but no, you can't flash your tab to be an 850mHz tab if it is natively a 900mHz tab... Its NOT the firmware, its the hardware itself that allows you to use 850,900,1700,1900 or 2100 mHz range...
All you'll do is make your reception really bad....
You have been warned....

Guys, I have discovered it is a firmware issue as I found online the code to get me into the firmware menu to which I successfully changed my P1000 from 900Mhz to 850Mhz, and then 3G popped online without a hitch.
It's been running great for the past month until I installed Overcome_7_Series_v4.1.0_Wipe which added 1700Mhz to the firmware menu, and now it no longer recognizes the 850Mhz when selected.
It also appears to be a permanent firmware change because flashing a Gingerbread ROM originally installed doesn't remove the 1700Mhz option nor allow me to use 3G 850Mhz.
After searching online through many forums, it appears no one has a solution other than the one seen here.
As a final option, I'm going to attempt to format every system mounted folder so everything is wiped clean, and flash a complete Froyo ROM in hopes it will remove the 1700Mhz option and restore the ability to switch to 850Mhz.
If anyone is interested in the outcome, I'll post here my results. Conversely, if anyone has ideas, thoughts or knowledge on this issue, any and all is completely welcome.
WHEW!
I was successful at returning the firmware menu to its original code where 1700MHz was no longer in the options. I did this by following instructions on installing the Overcome 7 Series v4.1.0 Wipe, found here http://www.teamovercome.net/p1000/?page_id=17.
During step 4, I chose a modem.bin file for a country which uses 850MHz frequency for 3G like USA, Mexico & Australia, which in the supplied files was the JK3 modem.
Then between steps 9 & 10 I entered Recovery and formatted all system folders in the Storage Menu (/cache, /data, /dbdata, /system), then did a wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache. Then I continued on from step 10.
When the Tab was on the Home screen, I followed these instructions to access the firmware menu http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s/258859-how-enable-850mhz-3g-network-frequency-your-samsung-i9000-galaxy-s.html and confirmed that 1700MHz was no longer an option. I continued onward to select 850MHz, rebooted and 3G came online.
Let me tell y'all that I've been working on this issue for 12 full hours, and it sure feels rewarding to have succeeded at this seemingly easy but became quite tedious excursion. Time for some deep sleeping.
So to be clear, you have voice calls enabled since you're running the Overcome ROM and 3g data works on AT&T as well at the same time without having to use any sort of modem switch? Still working well after this time? If this is true, that's really cool. Everyone has been saying it's a hardware issue all along. I guess you just need to do the configure like you pointed out and voila! Sweet!
I don't think he said that.
He said he can get a p1000 to work with AT&T 3G data network at 850Mhz.
Never mentioned phone calls or SMS, etc

Yes, a T-mobile GT... on AT&T 3g. I'm bringing this up because the Overcome ROM has the phone enabled. Just want to see if this function works along with 3g and the JK3 modem he's using. I think all of the various functions can be changed in the settings menu accessed in the dialer. I'll monitor the thread for cmcole's response. Even if it's just the data that works with that modem, that's still cool. I think Rotohammers modem switcher could allow you to use 2 modems and have the ability for both if the JK3 modem doesn't allow voice/3g data but I think it should.
Hello,
The short story is that I have a Samsung Galaxy S. I wanted to install some new firmware ( and because Kies bricked my phone a few months ago ) with Odin.
There was a guide somewhere where they did a full factory reset with
*2767*3855#
After I entered the code I could not connect to the network anymore. And cannot make any phone calls or receive them.
I am in Romania, using Vodafone.
I also tried
*#272*[my IMEI]# and selected CNX and after it reboots it asks me if I'm using Prepay or Postpay. I chose Postpay and still nothing.
If I search for networks it finds all of them but I still cannot connect to any.
I entered *#0011# and this is what I get
UMTS : Limited
RRC State : IDLE
WCDMA 2100 Band 1
Reg PLMN 226-1, IsPCS? 0
FREQ DL : 10836
FREQ UL : 9886
CELL_ID : 0xc82811b
LAC : 0x7d16
PSC : 44
RSCP : -96, ECIO : -8

Tell me what I can try right now, or what information you need more from me.
Usually this means that there is something wrong with your APN settings, like they were erased.
Check out your APN settings and make sure they match what your carrier needs. If they aren't right or missing then you will indeed have network issues...

Your APN has nothing to do about whether you can call or not, it controls your data. You could have an empty APN and still make calls.
I really think something in your APN is messed up, but its kinda hard to tell without seeing the phone. Your symptoms do point to the APN.
The only other thing it could be is a bad modem flash. If you are sure that your APN is fine try flashing a different compatible modem in Odin again...

I deleted all the APNs and I know that the network worked fine like this.
I will try flashing with a firmware that I know worked before and see what happens.
The wierd thing is that the problem appeared after I entered the factory reset code, not after flashing it.

Hopefully the flash will work since it should take care of the modem issue that I was talking about in my previous post.

I've tried flashing it with a few firmwares and nothing works, the error is the same.
Do you know what could have been affected by the full factory reset ?
Do you want some more info that could help you identify the problem ?
I went to a mobile service and they said they don't know what to do to it.
They tried to unlock the network and this is not the problem.
Can somebody help me with this 4g problem?
This is what i did:
1.flashed custom ROM (worked like a charm,i did nandroid backup)
2.flashed other custom ROM (didnt like it so I restored the first one from nandroid)
3.everything went well except no imei and no baseband
4.reverted back to stock rom with odin
5.and here is the problem,no 4g signal at all. 3g/2g works fine.
If I post my build.prop can somebody tell me whats wrong?
I have tried to put my sim card in other phone and it works but not in my phone.
Did you enable 4G in Settings?
Sent from my GT-I9305 using XDA Free mobile app
Yes, I did...network mode is set to LTE
Is there a test that I can use to test is it a software or hardware issue?
Maybe an issue of Stock rom you flashed using odin.. Which one exactly have yoi flashed? What modem you have now? And finally, is your S3 i9305 or some i9305T variant?
Check this out:
Typ *#*#4636#*#* and goto Netinformation, then you will find a special-setup for the 2G 3G & 4G.
Sorry about my english. Cause i am german.

Thanks for your replies,I flashed stock german 4.4.4 from sammobile. It worked very good about 2 months.
I think that modem is xxufoa1 and version of phone is i9305 lte international.
If somebody could help me with this issue,I would appreciate that. But no hurries,I got new playmate S6 edge...
try doing a complete wipe of data and cache, then flash stock rom again to see if problem persists
I have tried many times but no help...
Hey, try flashing the parambin.zip file (look for it on google related to s3 lte, you'll find it easily). Another thing to try is just wait with the phone turned on with a valid SIM. I found out that sometimes it delayed a lot to get signal, specially when changing SIM carriers on another country. After a while waiting it finally succeeded (probably unrelated but I also saw on the catlog entries about upgrading the sahara file of the qualcomm chip -the modem-).
