[Q] Full factory reset, now network does not work - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
The short story is that I have a Samsung Galaxy S. I wanted to install some new firmware ( and because Kies bricked my phone a few months ago ) with Odin.
There was a guide somewhere where they did a full factory reset with
*2767*3855#
After I entered the code I could not connect to the network anymore. And cannot make any phone calls or receive them.
I am in Romania, using Vodafone.
I also tried
*#272*[my IMEI]# and selected CNX and after it reboots it asks me if I'm using Prepay or Postpay. I chose Postpay and still nothing.
If I search for networks it finds all of them but I still cannot connect to any.
I entered *#0011# and this is what I get
UMTS : Limited
RRC State : IDLE
WCDMA 2100 Band 1
Reg PLMN 226-1, IsPCS? 0
FREQ DL : 10836
FREQ UL : 9886
CELL_ID : 0xc82811b
LAC : 0x7d16
PSC : 44
RSCP : -96, ECIO : -8

Tell me what I can try right now, or what information you need more from me.

Usually this means that there is something wrong with your APN settings, like they were erased.
Check out your APN settings and make sure they match what your carrier needs. If they aren't right or missing then you will indeed have network issues...

ccrows : the APN settings seem to be fine. As far as I know the APN are for data networking ( internet ) and before if I had no APN set I could still call people.

Reset your apn settings!

Your APN has nothing to do about whether you can call or not, it controls your data. You could have an empty APN and still make calls.
I really think something in your APN is messed up, but its kinda hard to tell without seeing the phone. Your symptoms do point to the APN.
The only other thing it could be is a bad modem flash. If you are sure that your APN is fine try flashing a different compatible modem in Odin again...

I deleted all the APNs and I know that the network worked fine like this.
I will try flashing with a firmware that I know worked before and see what happens.
The wierd thing is that the problem appeared after I entered the factory reset code, not after flashing it.

Hopefully the flash will work since it should take care of the modem issue that I was talking about in my previous post.
Best of luck...

I've tried flashing it with a few firmwares and nothing works, the error is the same.
Do you know what could have been affected by the full factory reset ?
Do you want some more info that could help you identify the problem ?

I went to a mobile service and they said they don't know what to do to it.
They tried to unlock the network and this is not the problem.

[Q] 3g is not working

Month àgo my 3g used to be working, sudenly my 3g change to 2g.
I checked my settings and everything was fine.
I putt my sim in another phone and the 3g worked, so its not a sim problem.
My apn setting are good.
I tried everything and nothing solved the problem.
What can it be?
Check Settings - Wireless and Network - Mobile Networks - Network mode, it should NOT be GSM only. Try setting it to WCDMA only.
.
I already tried it. If i putt it on wcdma only i dont get any connection.
Backup data and then factory reset .
jje
How do i do factory reset?
Backup your data and apps using a program like Titanium Backup, then go to Clockwork Recovery and select Factory Reset/Wipe (or something similar).
I did wipe and change my rom few times and its doesnt work.
Dont know what rom you are using but i would try installing stock froyo via Odin .

Have you tried flashing a new modem at all???
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
Not yet. I dont know what kind of modem to flash.
If its your standard Galaxy S I9000 you should be able to flash any of the standard modems. I use JPY because it seems to have the best signal and battery life. If you search the forums a little you should find out how. Darkyys ROM uses it as standard

I have the same problem and I just repartitioned in Odin to JS7 and it still won't automatically go to 3G/HSDPA, I have to force it either through setting it to WCDMA only and then back to auto or through SGStools by setting it to WCDMA 1900 only and then add the others in combination bands. All of the APN settings are correct, my IMEI is still the same, my HSPA revision is set, phone information states WCDMA preferred, I've factory reset, cleared cache, cleared Dalvik cache, and as I mentioned earlier, flashed with repartition, and after all of that... I still have to force HSDPA access.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S I9000 No Service!

Hope Someone can help.
I had a problem with my Samsung galaxy s i9000 and i was told to flash it using Odin, i downloaded the files from sam firmware and put android 2.3 onto it, when it had completed the phone will not get a service, everything else works fine and it reads the sim card and the contacts etc it just wont connect to network?
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Josh
Does it work wireless ?
Does it get phone network, or both data and phone services are unavailable ?
Do you have in wireless and network settings under mobile network the "use data packet" switched on ??
Did you try with a sim from another operator just to see if it's a matter of specific operator settings ?
I got italian language, maybe settings name are a bit different from the ones i mentioned, but that's the concept.
Bye

Check if your IMEI is correct, you find it under settings, about, status.
Your correct IMEI is on a sicker under the battery.
Edit: to late ; )

nope when i try and make a phone call or send a text it says "mobile network not available"
mmmm....
are you sure you downloaded the correct rom ? I mean there are different roms for different countries.
While you just reflashed, why dont you go back to original stock rom or to a stable one (one i remember is JPY_JPY_JPY) just to see if everything works fine ?
Anyway....which was the problem you had that required you to flash with odin ??
Yeah you prolly downloaded a rom fir another region if your imei is in tact and ya vant even make calls. If you can make calls and just cant use data then the rom doesnt have your apn settings and you will have to add them manually.

Have you bought it used with this problem?
If so there is a chance that the IMEI is reported stolen and blocked at the service provider.

[Q] no data after update to ics

hey guys.
this is my first post so please forgive me if this is the wrong place or is listed somewhere where i could not find.
so my problem is i updated my gt-i9000 to 4.03 using this guide.
cyanogenmod 9-cm9-by-teamhacksung-for-galaxy-s-i9000-ics-android-4-0-3
the problem i have is that i now don't have any mobile data.
i lived with it for a while but now it is really frustrating.
i did not save the data settings so is there anything i can do?
can i reset to stock firmware then update again with saving the data settings?
of is there a simple way to remedy this?
any suggestions really appreciated.
elf.
Go to setting and reset access point name

yea i have tried this but it does not work.
i will try updating to 4.0.4 and i might have more luck.

Just create a new apn and enter the settings for the apn of your service provider
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
I would suggest the same as the previous post: create a new APN and enter the settings manually. It should normally work.

I screwed up (I think)

Hi All,
Need some help - I've been working more on CDMA phones b/c of sprint, and just flashed my friends captivate (att), but after the flash, have no data or cell service. (I flashed cwm recovery with odin, and then was able to get miui 2.8.3 onto the phone.)
Not sure how to get the cell signal to work, or what needs to be done to get things back to good ...
I see things about flashing back to stock, and then restarting - and i'm lost with the modem files, nothing of them are working so far, but I feel good about it....
--Adrian
Apn settings need to be reset to default... Go to Settings/ Wireless and network/ Mobile networks/ Access Point Names then hit capacitve menu button then "Reset to default".
And if that doesn't work, u probably need to flash an appropriate modem.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
Also you can try entering the APN yourself. Just Google the name of your network, and apn. You should find the info you need to create a new apn.

[Q] Failed to enable data connection

My XT862 stock version is Verizon 5.7.906, and everything works well except wifi(it always show an error and can not lunch, even if I reset to factory settings or flash sbf)
And in SafeStrap 3.05, I installed CM10.1-2013-03-23 version in slot 1. the wifi works well but I can not turn on data connection. I am using a WCDMA network. In *#*#4636#*#*, I can find it works on UMTS mode, but no data connection. I tried to enable data connection via correct the checkbox in setting and in the *#*#4636#*#* menu, but both failed.
How can I deal with it?
Sounds like you forgot the GSM mods to the build.prop. Are you using the 862 or 883 radio?

I am using XT862 radio, N_03.18.32P.
This problem appeared about a week ago, when I am using the 2013-03-17 build, and it continued when I upgrade to 2013-03-23 build.
There's a line that you could try uncommenting in the build.prop like ro.ril = 284000 or something and one below it. Or you might have to add that. See if that helps. (Or you could try an 883 build.prop).
