[Q] office for galaxy tab - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi all,
i'm planning to buy galaxy tab instead of netbook but i need to learn one thing. can i use office programs especially macros with galaxy tab?

It depends on how deep your dive in Microsoft Office programs. I just got my Tab, but I am using Documents to Go and demoing MobileNoter for OneNote. So far, both look promising.

thanks for the answer
no i just need macro formulas that work on windows excel to be working? is it possible

I could be wrong, but I don't think any of the Office compatible apps on Android currently support macros.
Regards,
Dave

That's correct. I tried to do some macros using OfficeSuite Pro, to no avail. It's the most feature-rich office app I have found for both my tab and my evo.

I've been looking and trying a lot of them. Nothing Android has worked properly to my standard.

Actually they're not; that's why they're posted in a sticky thread, so people would find them and use them. Almost none of them are included in the Tilt ROM.
I vote this thread dead.

When you say Iphone interface, how do I get that on my TyTN II (Kaiser)?
Also I'm especially interested in apps like a picture viewer and also a music program with iphone interface. I currently have HTC audio manager. Any help greatly appreciated.
Buy an iPhone? Does that help?
No because I want the Kaiserfeatures on Iphone interface!

Windows xp on Samsung Galaxy Tab

Are there any posibilities that we can run Windows xp on the tablet some day?
i've seen a video that runs ubuntu, i dont want to see the word "ubuntu" in this whole thread please, thanks.
if there are possibilities.. how can we start, should i make a facebook page where we all manifest our feelings?
Reason in my case: i have some especial software that only run on windows xp, and also a couple of games specially Ragnarok Online (private server) that i play.
What I'd be a lot more interested in is a version of wine running on the Tab, either directly (which seems rather unlikely) or inside that brilliant OS that you don't want mentioned.
I wouldnt use windows xp to use any internet browser
because i'm sick of the Spyware/Malware BS! but some software would be nice like:
GRAPHICAL ftp client, DreamWeaver, Macromedia Flash, Notepad ++
i'm an amateur Web designer

None whatsoever!
Tab is ARM based, not x86 based. The only "hope" would be an VM, but even if someone could be bothered, performance would likely be dreadful.
Ubuntu is open source and has been ported to ARM.

Won't ever happen, and it would run like total dog**** if it did.
You can already play your hacked MMO on a cheap netbook, and as primitive as Ragnarok is, that's all you need.

Ubuntu! Oh I'm sorry your majesty, I'll get to work on an arm version of windows xp right away.
You could use a remote desktop client to connect to a windows xp machine. There is absolutely no way to run windows xp natively and there never will be.

sup atomix. As everyone else already stated the GT's cpu is arm based, hence no native winders.
However rdp/vnc/cloud connections to both real and virtual windows machine is definitely doable.
I saw an interesting article in Engadget the other day. Looks like onlive will be serving up their cloud based gaming with a side of windows 7. Maybe this will be helpful for you.
Sorry I would post the Engadget link but I just registered to this forum as I just got my tab TODAY!!!!!!
engadget(insert dot here)com/2010/12/07/onlive-demos-windows-7-on-an-ipad-and-galaxy-tab-launches-cloud/
the CLOUD sucks tytyty
any recomendations for my purpose?
The 'Cloud' as you refer to as 'sucks' is the internets.
If your 'Clouds' 'suck' then I suggest you invest in faster internets.
or
Ask Santa Claus nicely to get you a new windows laptop for Christmas and donate your fantastic Galaxy Tab to a more deserving individual.
or
Throw yourself off a bridge and stop bringing this thread back to life.
tried ubuntu on the tab and runs extremely slugish, i'ts out of the question..
any 7 inch or smaller tablet that would run windows xp?
i said TABLET not netbook, i already have a dell 10v but is way too bulky to take back and forth from city to city
the tab i need, needs to be the closest to the galaxy tab 7" or smaller display size
with at least 5hrs of battery, open a resolution of 1024px width
sim card slot with aws band support, wi-fi, at least 32mb video card
etc..

Same, DTG 3.x here.
TYPO? I thought its called Documents To Go.
Yep...Documents to Go...
Works great for me too.
However, if that is too expensive, I think there are some alternatives that cost a little less but are not as good. ThinkOffice and QuickOffice come to mind.

Casio G-Shock Bluetooth 4.0 wristwatch and WP8 support?

Hi!
I'll soon get the fantastic Casio G-Shock with Bluetooth 4.0 link function - which normally works with iOS and Android OS. As i also have a Nokia Lumia 920 additional to my iPhone I'd like to use it with this new gadget. Is there any possibility to convert the existing Android App into a working WP8 App? Any solutions out there?
best regards,
Oliver
Nope, no chance. Thank Microsoft for the restriction.
I'm a GShock fan btw. Tough Solar with auto illuminator, black on black my favorite watch.

How do they not allow it? Bluetooth APIs are open, heck, you can even open bluetooth sockets and transmit raw data over them (unlike NFC, which is limited to NDEF formats). It's up to Casio to make the app. If Casio decides WP is not a big enough market, fair enough. They could release the protocols the watch are using, and developers can make an app for them.

Smh. You obviously know how to use the internet, clearly you do because you're on this board.
How about searching the internet for the kind of access Casio needs. Its more than a simple app that is needed.
Apple just added the functionality IOS 5 & 6.

Wow that's amazing! Bluetooth 4.0.
You're still missing the required SPP and MAP profiles.
Try researching and understanding next time.

[Q] New to the Forum, Touchpad in mail!

Hey guys,
I just ordered my Touchpad today, should be here by the end of the week. It is used and the previous owner had ICS running on it I believe. My question is, what would you guys suggest I do once I receive it? Upgrade to JB? Any certain mods or kernels that everyone uses now? Just trying to familiarize myself with the Touchpad forums so I can get right on what I need to do once it comes in.
Thanks

There are multiple roms for hp touchpad users and each have there own weaknesses and strengths
The best way to familiarize yourself with rom types is to download the free app goomanager in the play store.
It will help you get the roms
In my perspective i beleive that the rom in the attachments is the best
It has no visible bugs and works smoothly on Hp touchpad
Mic works
Camera works- 1.3M
Cm 10 is new and beta so i would not recommend it
Try the one that is recommended in text file
Happy Flashing

Thanks a lot for the rom suggestion. Any other suggestions (from you or anyone else) regarding kernels, overclocking, any particular apps that run really well on these tablets or any apps that are great for tablets that aren't so much for phones...? If it helps, I want to use it mainly for work (attorney), like viewing and editing documents, etc.

Westlaw (Next, not classic) has a meh app (basically a glorified mobile web app), but text is much easier to read on a bigger screen. LexisNexis doesn't have one as far as I know. Google Drive is good for documents.
I don't agree that CM10 is not ready as a daily driver. I use it as one and have since the latest preview came out. That's something you will probably need to try for yourself.

I've never run Ubuntu on any hardware (Arch) and I use only CM10 on my TP, so I can't really speak to that. Maybe someone else here who is running Ubuntu on the TP can help you out. I would imagine that the software repositories in Ubuntu could be helpful, like LibreOffice or a LaTeX editor, but I'm not sure how that would work out on a touchscreen.

over clock with rom manager
95% of the apps in play will be compatibe with hp touchpad on this rom
the only app that i couldn't install is vice city
Office suite is a great app that can edit documents, powerpoints, excell sheets ext.
"There's an app for that!"
Ubuntu is too slow to use as a daily driver unfortunately.
