Hey there guys I'm new to the site and also to the rooting of the phone and everything and Im not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but I have the crc1 build number 1.5 version firmware and I have tried to root my phone to use some themes from this website but I can't format my sdcard. When I right click and click on format it says "no disk in drive, please insert disk then try again" and it automatically unmounts my sdcard. Any reason why it's doing this? I hope someone could help me out here. Thank you!

Are you just trying to format to fat32 on your pc or are you wanting all the partitions (fat32, ext2/3/4, and linux-swap). Have you tried any of the commands in terminal? Have you tried Ubuntu? There is a tut in my sig on how to do it.
Try using a card reader instead of the phone. My wife's G1 does this for some reason. Mine doesn't however, not sure why cause I have a card reader and it was easier to do that than to figure it out.
Well I was looking at the ultimate noob thread about how to root. I pretty much want to use themes on here and also use custom boot logo's and things like that. But no matter what computer I try it says to insert a disk. I don't have a card reader on my computer. I'm just trying to format it to fat32 as of right now. Then after I do that I should be able to follow the instructions to root my phone.

Do it thru Ubuntu. Ubuntu will pick it up thru the phone. Know this for sure had to help someone out with this.
Isn't linux sweet, it just works.
Alright guys I will try that out now and let you know if it works or not. Thank you. After I root my phone should I follow the steps in the guide to update the ROM and everything like thaT?
Nevermind I fixed it.

What you do to fix it?
Lol, actually I thought it worked but it actually didn't. I'm still stuck not being able to format my sdcard. I'm downloading that ubuntu program as we speak but I don't know how I will read the tutorial you got in your sig and do it at the same time. lol.
Nevermind guys, I noticed under "build number" it says CRC1. I have tried to format my sdcard on my computer and it says enter disk, I've tried rooting it through other videos I've watched and nothing. I guess I won't be able to get it to work after all. Thanks though guys for your help!
i recently upgraded my OS to android 2.3.3 from a website i found on here. it works fine and all but i was wondering since i have never really done any rooting or anything, and i was wondering how i would go about possibly adding a different ROM to my phone or if i have to take my phone all the way back to stock before i do it? Also since im a noob and all, i will need step by step directions on how to do it. i already have odin3 on my computer and used it to get my 2.3.3 update. is there a way to over lay 2.3.4 or any further update they might come out with and how would i do that? also my 2.3.3 update didnt really take any of the bloatware out or anything. i know taking it out makes the phone's speed faster and all, that might be something i'd like to look into doing. really any help from you more experienced ppl would help me out awesomely.
if u need my phone's upgrade info it is:
Samsung SGH-I897
firmware is 2.3.3
baseband : I897UCKF1
kernal : 2.6.35.7-I897UCKF1-CL273832
build number : Gingerbread.UCKF1
are you trying to format it via usb while it is still in your phone?? lol you dont 'have to' format your sd card to root device... you can format it after installing a custom recovery,
it just says to format it at first because if you flash a custom rom, there will be files on your sd card from 1.5ota and might mess with rom... so just format it after you flash the custom recovery
hello
ive recently reverted back to 2.1 update 1 ... and now my problem is whenever i connect my device to Memory Card Access, it wont open it up. it does nothing. i have re installed the drivers and still the same thing. I am trying to put open recovery on it but i cant without sd access... is there any way of getting around this?

Yes Please I'm thinking I've got the same problem.
Just received a Motorola Droid never been rooted. I've done the RSD lite thing,
rooted using z4root
and am unable to mount my internal sd card, there is no ext_sd even with my external sd card in. It only will mount the external, I cant get access to root to transfer any roms to it.
and cwr does not let me in only the standard e3 recovery. any helps?
Yes, please do explain how you fixed this problem. I've got a rom that I can't get the sd card to work
I just got a nook color and I successfully rooted and put cyanogen 7 on it. I just returned to stock because I would like to be able to dual boot. I have read some posts on people saying that they have the cyanogen 7 rom on the sd, yet if they hold the n on the nook color when they power up it will boot to stock. Can someone point me to a guide on how to achieve this please. I am using a 8gb microsd card. thank you
Check out the SD install section of the guide on my sig. Also make sure your card is a Sandisk!

Search for and use vergreen's size agnostic installer v1.3 in this forum.
Hi,
My nook color seem to be found in an impossible loop boot. I tried many thing like re-installing OS, Bootable Cyanogenmod on SD Card but I can't pass the boot. I currently have Clockworkmod V. 3.0.0.6 and I tried to re-install the cyanogen OS but it ain't working. I know that at a point I had a boot problem and tried the reset to factory option in Clockworkmod but I think this was not a good idea. If anyone out there may think to have an idea to unbrick my nook just bring it on I'm willing to try anything.
Thanks!

For one thing that is too old of CWM. You should have version 3.2.0.1 or newer. If you go to my tips thread linked in my signature, you will find a newer version. Plus if you read my item A8 you will see you are in a recovery bootloop. I have instructions there how to get out of it.

Hi Leapinlar,
Section A10 of your tips and tricks did it ! Thanks for your post
By the way now I'm booting to your CWM in the bootable SD Card right ? Now I have to re-install CWM right ?
Hi,
So I did some troubleshooting it seems that there are 2 CWM on my nook now. The old one that is broken and the new one that is loaded with the SD card. The new one is able to lunch CyanogenMod on the device's ROM. Hmm ... do I need to apply your partition fix ?

No you do not need my partition fix. The two versions are expected. The newer one is on the new SD you just made and the older one is on emmc (internal memory). The easiest way to get a newer version internally is to use Rom Manager, an app that comes with CM7. Just go to the app drawer and start it. There is an option in the app to update CWM. It will replace the old one you have on emmc with version 3.2.0.1 which is good enough.
Hi,
So everything seem to work with cyanogen mod now. But I have one big problem now. It seems that if I unplug my nook from the wall charger it shutdown like if my battery were dead. I looked the battery stats and it's at 100 %. I also opened the nook and looked the voltage with an voltmeter and it's OK, I even did a current test with a load and everything seem great. Anyone here had a similar problem ?
Thanks, your help is very welcome this nook is driving me nuts I am about to crash it to the ground
Shuts down after how long?

What version of CM have you installed? Does your Nook shut down immediately after unplugging, or after some period of disuse? If the latter, perhaps this is the "screen of death" issue wherein the Nook doesn't wake up after sleeping. See leapinlar's excellent user tips thread for details.

Well you've certainly got me confused. Your question title says Nook Color CM7, yet you say it says Droid X on system info and you want to return it to a Kindle?
If you really have a Nook Color and you want to return it to stock, look in my tips thread linked in my signature. Look at item A10 to make a CWM bootable SD card and item A15 to flash the stock rom to the Nook.

I've got a Galaxy Note that's rooted and running CM10. Can you please tell me how to turn it back into an iPhone 5?
(I'm assuming he means "Kindle" as "generic e-reader," but it's still funny...)
