Yes Please I'm thinking I've got the same problem.
Just received a Motorola Droid never been rooted. I've done the RSD lite thing,
rooted using z4root
and am unable to mount my internal sd card, there is no ext_sd even with my external sd card in. It only will mount the external, I cant get access to root to transfer any roms to it.
and cwr does not let me in only the standard e3 recovery. any helps?

Yes, please do explain how you fixed this problem. I've got a rom that I can't get the sd card to work

Noob Question bout rooting

Hey there guys I'm new to the site and also to the rooting of the phone and everything and Im not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but I have the crc1 build number 1.5 version firmware and I have tried to root my phone to use some themes from this website but I can't format my sdcard. When I right click and click on format it says "no disk in drive, please insert disk then try again" and it automatically unmounts my sdcard. Any reason why it's doing this? I hope someone could help me out here. Thank you!

Are you just trying to format to fat32 on your pc or are you wanting all the partitions (fat32, ext2/3/4, and linux-swap). Have you tried any of the commands in terminal? Have you tried Ubuntu? There is a tut in my sig on how to do it.
Try using a card reader instead of the phone. My wife's G1 does this for some reason. Mine doesn't however, not sure why cause I have a card reader and it was easier to do that than to figure it out.
Well I was looking at the ultimate noob thread about how to root. I pretty much want to use themes on here and also use custom boot logo's and things like that. But no matter what computer I try it says to insert a disk. I don't have a card reader on my computer. I'm just trying to format it to fat32 as of right now. Then after I do that I should be able to follow the instructions to root my phone.

Do it thru Ubuntu. Ubuntu will pick it up thru the phone. Know this for sure had to help someone out with this.
Isn't linux sweet, it just works.
Alright guys I will try that out now and let you know if it works or not. Thank you. After I root my phone should I follow the steps in the guide to update the ROM and everything like thaT?
Nevermind I fixed it.

What you do to fix it?
Lol, actually I thought it worked but it actually didn't. I'm still stuck not being able to format my sdcard. I'm downloading that ubuntu program as we speak but I don't know how I will read the tutorial you got in your sig and do it at the same time. lol.
Nevermind guys, I noticed under "build number" it says CRC1. I have tried to format my sdcard on my computer and it says enter disk, I've tried rooting it through other videos I've watched and nothing. I guess I won't be able to get it to work after all. Thanks though guys for your help!
i recently upgraded my OS to android 2.3.3 from a website i found on here. it works fine and all but i was wondering since i have never really done any rooting or anything, and i was wondering how i would go about possibly adding a different ROM to my phone or if i have to take my phone all the way back to stock before i do it? Also since im a noob and all, i will need step by step directions on how to do it. i already have odin3 on my computer and used it to get my 2.3.3 update. is there a way to over lay 2.3.4 or any further update they might come out with and how would i do that? also my 2.3.3 update didnt really take any of the bloatware out or anything. i know taking it out makes the phone's speed faster and all, that might be something i'd like to look into doing. really any help from you more experienced ppl would help me out awesomely.
if u need my phone's upgrade info it is:
Samsung SGH-I897
firmware is 2.3.3
baseband : I897UCKF1
kernal : 2.6.35.7-I897UCKF1-CL273832
build number : Gingerbread.UCKF1
are you trying to format it via usb while it is still in your phone?? lol you dont 'have to' format your sd card to root device... you can format it after installing a custom recovery,
it just says to format it at first because if you flash a custom rom, there will be files on your sd card from 1.5ota and might mess with rom... so just format it after you flash the custom recovery

Sdcard question

If the phone isn't rooted would a corrupted sdcard cause the phone to get stuck at the android screen? My thoughts are that only rooted software generally accessed the sdcard during bootup. Lemme know thx all.

Highly unlikely, if you have doubt you could just reformat the sd card in your pc before booting the phone
don't think it's possible...

[Q] Can you reset to factory without an SD card?

Hey all. My SD card holder is physically busted. I cannot access it at all. I was running rooted 1.1. I need to send the nook off for repair and would like to restore it to factory before I send it off. Can that easily be done? I tried the power on and off 5(6) times but it didn't do anything. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks,
Joe

Keep doing boot interrupts... when you get to 8 it should present you with a screen that it is installing software....
But, you didn't say if you installed cwr on emmc or not... that may present with other issues/options... if you did... or if the 8 failed boots don't work... can use adb to get the stuff you need where you need it.
Cwr is on the emmc.

Yes, you can install apps on the phone's internal memory, although it has a very limited amount. If you install too many apps, you will find that you might be missing messages as the "Sync Manager" does not have enough room to sync and download your text messages from the server.
As for update.zip, I don't believe so, because when you flash a new custom ROM, what would happen to your update.zip? I'd think it would get wiped as well. Then you're stuck.
Ok ty i realize update.zip would take way too much memory. How bout going from 2.0 to 2.1 is that possible on its memory? Just until i get an sd card. I was told this is wiped clean back to factory i guess running 2.0. When i get my phone should there be a update avail when i turn it on if its still 2.0?
It should be on 2.1 already out of the box, unless they bought it when it was released and then it was not upgraded at all, highly unlikely.
I got this off of ebay so i was told its factory but the girl sold it cause hairline crack also slider a little rough other than that she said it scrolls flawlessly. She said its factory so i imagine 2.0. Would there be an update i can look for from motorola even if it has not been activated? Under system tools or update?
Yeah, there should be an update available.

SD card is unmountes

So I flashed a new version of the bulletproof kernel on my phone which was on 4.1.2, but I guess the kernel was for 4.2.2 only and it ended up messing up my sd. So to save the hassle I had a nandroiod backup from before on my computer but how do I get this on to my phone to flash it? As it wont let me copy files from and to my computer and I always get the error that my sd card is unmounted on my phone.
So how do I fix my problem?
I dont mind starting from scratch it I have to, any help would be appreciated
