Hi guys,
I think I possibly screwed up my wounderful sgs i9000 european edition
First of all I have to tell you how I came to this...
A long long time ago, today afternoon 17 o'clock european time I wanted to test the great CM7 and so I did, of course first I failed to flash it but then it worked. The phone worked fine but there came the point when I wanted to use samsung's firmware again, cause it has the apps I love.
So I just connected my phone with Odin and tried to flash a original Firmware, I think it was JS7. It worked, but then my phone didnt boot after the flash.
So I managed to make the phone boot into download mode, what is the only thing that works at the moment.
So I connected it again and tried to flash my phone one more time but then it didnt work
Odin stuck at the line "set pit-file" or somethin like that.
Well. What could I do? Reconnect and try to reflash and it doesnt work again
Do you know, guys, what I could do? I need my phone every day but atm it cant be flashed
Now I tried to reflash it again and I stuck at the line "SetupConnection.."
Maybe I should try to flash another kernel and try to flash a custom rom trough CWM? Maybe that would be the key for me?
My phone stuck at "SetupConnection.." since 10 minutes or so
PLS help me
best regards,
alex
is recovery mode working ?? if so do a full factory reset.
Get your self a firmware with all 3 files and PIT. something old like JM8 or even back to eclair.. This should contain the dbdata which ive had trouble with in the past.
When you have all that, connect your phone to odin and try again, Make sure kies IS NOT running (even in the icon tray) and make sure your drivers are upto date.
If download mode works, your phone will survive. As for Odin sticking on 'Setup Connection' That's something to do with the phone connecting to the PC.. Maybe try another USB port, or like mentioned previously, Kies running or out of date drivers ????
Anyway try the above steps. and post back your results.
Oh dont forget to make sure RE-PARTITION is CHECKED when your using Odin.
well, thank you very much for the useful information
at first I tried to flash my phone at my laptop, then on a pc, but it just didnt work
but now I 'm succefully flashing it again trough my laptop and hopefully it will work again
And yeah, DL Mode works fine, but nothing other
Well, seems to be that my phone just was flashed succefully
Damn, I was so scared that I have to return the phone to the reseller
Wonderful, it boots again
I wont take it easy as before with the flashing.
Sorry for the trouble created by me
And thanks again
gn8 (from my time zone) and best regards

Hi was gonna flash new firmware with odin since froyo was delayed 1month + more..
Now it wont turn on, is there any any any thing i can try to do to save my phone????
Remove the battery, wait 10 seconds, replace the battery, restart into download mode, reflash
Got into download mode, but i cant reflash, it says failed.
Which Firmware are you trying to flash, what options did you tick (repartition?)
If download mode works you are good. Reboot your PC, make sure Kies is not running. Try to flash to some knownly good ROM (JM2/JM7/JM8) - follow the corresponding instructions here in the posts to the letter. Make sure you use correct Odin version (not AT&T).
When i crashed the firmware i was using repartition tried install jm8
Ok will reboot comp do all this, brb like 5 min and ill let you know, Really Really gratefull for all helps
And there i got it working , thanks for making me calm saying it would work out when i was freaking out, 900$ is allot to loose ^^
And the reason i crashed it was that i didn follow the guide completely after reset came i waited a while , didn know it took that long for Pass so i unplugged to early, lesson learned and hopefully my sgs wont die by my hands
So here't the full background, it's not long, please read:
http://www.darkyrom.com/community/i...-bricked-my-sgs-wonder-what-i-did-wrong.2032/
Long story short, it looks like I bricked my SGS when trying to flash with Odin, even though I followed the tutorial very closely. When I power up the phone, it just gives me the image with phone, exclamation mark and PC on it. It does, however, go into download mode when powered up with VolDown and center button.
How do I save it? Do I need the JIG (God, please say no! )
Have you tried reflashing with odin.
Jig is only needed when you cant get into download mode.
Also i just looked inside the darky rom topic.
Have you flashed the jvk rom first with the bootloaders?
Edit: as said below. If you gonna reflash, flash a stock rom. Not the darky rom. First priority is to make your phone work.

Yeah, you have download mode.
Now, fire up Odin and load a few rom files into it, connect the phone and see if the PC still recognises it. (Do not flash, Just a test)
If so...
Flash a stock rom.
Somehow, I was able to flash it with Odin in Download Mode this time. Phew! I read somewhere that the flash might fail if You're using wrong USB port. At first I connected my phone to a eSATA/USB combo port, and for the second time (after brick) I tried a normal USB 2.0 port in my laptop. Maybe that's what made the difference, I have no idea.
Anyway, I'm running stock Samsung 2.3 rom and am trying to install Darky's 10.0 RC3 on it - I am running into some problems, but thankfully they're much less serious than the brick that I was able to fix.
Thanks for Your help!
I ran into similar problems last week. A rom wouldn't flash, so I gave it an hour and it proceeded nowhere. Had to pull the plug on it.
Sometimes it just takes a few times plugging and unplugging repeatedly until it just happens to get detected by Windows. Maybe just a bit of luck too
Congrats on your recovery.
Just wondering which stock 2.3 rom did you use and which Odin setting you used to get your phone up and working again.
Here is my post / problem, seems similar to yours
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1020223
Thanks
I had the same issue like warnec on my first darkyy flash, finally everything went fine...don't worry!
just try to reflash with odin (maybe going for a stock version first is a good idea), be sure to do everything as mentioned in the guides out there. and be sure your computer works stable, maybe you want to quit some tasks in the background (however it should work even without but something crashed my odin once...)
Reflash with Odin to make your phone work again. I suggest using a stock 2.2.1/2.3.3 ROM. It is important that it consists of the 512.pit file, a PDA file, a Phone file and a CSC file. The ROM must have bootloaders included!
Now, disconnect your phone and turn it off.
Start Odin and load all the files. Tick 'Repartition'.
Start your phone in Download Mode by pressing Vol-Down, Home and Power.
Connect it to your PC and wait for Odin to say 'Added!'.
Now hit Start, wait 2-3 minutes until it is done and your phone should succesfully reboot!

Thanks I tried this and my phone just keeps flashing i9000m screen, then blank and then back to the i9000m screen. Looks like the phone is unusable.

does not sound very good...could you solve your problem yet?
Had to take the phone into Bell. Waiting on return of it and currently using a loaner HTC Desire Z from Bell.
Hi guys, I need some help..
I have had my SGS for over a year now and decided today i wanted to root it and do all the stuff that comes with that... anyways so i rooted it and then tried installing cyanogenmod but i got a bootloop which i thought fair enough ill just put the phone back into download mode and download my firmeware of i9000xxjvt again. this was no problem, however... this unrooted my phone i think becasue i didnt see superuser or cwm in my apps again. so then i tried rooting my phone again but i think i picked the wrong file in the PDA part of odin and my phone screen turned off and ODIN said fail or somethign similar. Then i tried turning my phone on and it now has this icon;
well i cant post links but if you go on tinyurl and add "/6o3dt8y" after it you'll see
im so scared iv ruined it, i dont have insurance but it is covered under my parents house contents cover.. i dont wanna have to go through that though. any suggestions? i havent tried removing the battery to turn it off btw it's still on that screen because im scared of doing further damage.. dont know how long the battery will last tho.

Hey, first of all, don't panic, there's nothing wrong that can't be fixed. You should still be able to put your phone into download mode. After that, just flash it with the correct files via Odin, that's all. I recommend downloading jvu firmware instead of jvt. After that you should be able to flash a custom kernel, my recommendation is Semaphore (look for it in the development section). Then flash cyanogenmod via recovery menu. If it starts flashing, then you get into a bootloop, just pull your battery at some point and pull your external sd card. (I had this issue too.) Then put your battery back (but not the sd card) and you will be able to install it correctly. Cheers

You have the i9000? Because I see a restore procedure for i9001 on the server your 'bsod' image is hosted: http://www.broodplank.net/flashsamsungi9001.php
The only think different is the firmware you need and the Odin version. Don't use the multidownloader, but for instance Odin3 v1.85.
I'd recommend cf-root kernel, it's "rooting for beginners" and still enough to be able to flash Cyanogenmod. Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
Just pull out the battery. I too had a lot of soft bricks this week and you wouldn't believe how many times I had to pull out the battery, lol.
Just try to flash some stock gingerbread rom's and see which one makes your phone work again.
If you can't get into download mode anymore. Pull out the battery, connect your phone to your pc via usb, push volume up and down simultaniously and lastly put in the battery. It should boot up into download mode.
Thanks so much guys I was really scared I ruined the phone. Pulling out the battery worked and putting it into download mode was easy after that. I flashed jvt again because I couldn't find jvu and then flashed cyanogenmod successfully, I removed my external SD this time tyo avoid the boot loop. i will try again later with semaphore kernal first but again thanks a lot people.
Hello Guys,
I'm quite an intensive flasher and never had a problem ever, running lovely ICS at the moment and my phone is fine. But here's the problem, a friend of mine also has a SGS and hers suddenly got stuck in a bootloop today (she had stock on it, never did anything to it and had no flashing history or something). So I said, let me try to fix, I should be able to reflash the software and it should be working again. Sadly enough, it didn't go as I hoped.
I flashed JVU trough Odin with Pit file.
(Sadly enough I am not allowed to post pictures, goo.gl/28pPX < pic link)
And as you can see, No problems there. Everything went fine. So the phone boots, and then this happens:
goo.gl/D0vnU
This happens everytime, no matter what i try to flash. First time I have ever seen this and I just don't know what do with it..
When I try to reboot the phone it just starts bootlooping again. I'm clueless, so can anyone help me with this ?
Thanks in advance!
Stoux
I would just flash the same jvu but with bootloaders

Try to flash this rom is one of the best Gingerbread roms, just follow all the instructions there.
good luck
You say : flashed jvu through odin...did you have 3 files(phone , modem ,cscand odin pit file) and have repartition checkbox ticked in odin?? and can you get phone into download mode???

You just have to find a small file called " dbdata.rfs " amd flash it through odin (in pda ) .
Or you can always download a full firmware which have four files .pit, csc, modem, code and flash them with odin and u will be good to go!
Sorry for the late reaction (and the bump of the thread).
I did flash trough odin, like 9001 times. Everytime I would just get into a bootloop, Stock or Custom Rom. I was able to get in CWM but that was just a mess. It had to do with a faulty SD-Card or something, its @ Samsung now. Anyways, thanks for the help everbody!
I had Android 4.0.3 (IceCream Sandwich) on my Galaxy S GT-I9000B (I did install it through Odin, nothing went wrong), but is was laggish (too much for it to handle, I think) and after a few months, I decided to roll it back to 2.3.3 (Gingerbread).
I started the process to install the firmware through Odin3 v1.85 - the file I download (from sammobile.com/firmware, had only one file that I used on the PDA space.
Odin recognized my phone and I started to install it, but after a while my phone was stuck on the downloading screen (2 hours of installation, I tought that something went wrong).
I then turned my phone off to try and install again, but when I turned it on, there were a Phone - exclamation mark - Computer Symbol.
I can get it to dowlonad mode (Volume Down+Home+Power), but when I plug it to the pc, it says "unknown device" and it can't find drivers for it.
I think I have the latest drivers from Samsung (I had from Kies and I re-downloaded a file somewhere from this forum named SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_1_5_6_0.exe).
It appears that since windows can't install the drivers, Odin doesn't recognize the device - it was recognizing it before, when I was installing the firmware.
Now I'm stuck - I tried anything I saw in this forum and in other places - I did even pray for a miracle, but it didn't work
I know that there must be a way, but I don't know how.
Before I forget, I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
If you can get it in download mode everything should be fine, I've had a problem like this, my pc couldn't see the phone in download no matter what. Try to use another USB port, better another PC. Also I've heard that x64 doesn't get along well with Odin. If possible you can try Linux and Heimdall, after all Android is Linux too.

Ok, k4Z3666, has given you a starting point...the phone is still in download mode but without a booting ROM, so its OK, the problem is your PC, USB cable or USB port. If you want to be quick about it, just try on a lap top..if not a simple Reboot of PC ( after removing power cord) and Phone (after a battery Pull), and a switch to a different USB port at the back of PC can solve this for some...for other solutions try these http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27205737&postcount=4571 anything else you may need can be found on My Android collections., link below

I tried other USB Ports and also rebooting. It was working just fine - it seems like a driver problem to me.
My notebook is dead, but I'll try using someone else computer.
Does Odin runs in Windows XP? I might try it in my virtual box - I doubt that it will work, but it is the best thing I have to do untill tomorrow.
I got it working in my mother's notebook - should I try something different? I only have the PDA, should I try a PIT?
I don't know what those do, but I read somewhere that PIT is used to recover bricked phones.
EDIT: I installed only the PDA, it worked fine on the 2nd time (first time, it got stuck but I could make it work changing the usb port and cable).
Now it is on loop - it repeats the samsung logo over and over again. Any ideas now?

what ROM did you use? Did you do any wipes?
Opps..you got an i900B, so make sure you are only using I9000B ROMS as i9000 is not compatible with your phone

Assuming that you're on the right rom for your phone can you enter recovery mode? Try reinserting battery, and enter recovery with [vol+, menu button, power on]

Yep if u want to back to stock u need pit file because ICS use different system file
Why u don't like ICS ? Its way better and faster than sammy ROM even its more stable , I think u should try it again with devil kernel with oc to 1.2 it will fly u can add some live oc which will give more fluidity

Ok, I'm posting it here just to leave a reply and reference for future generations, as my problem was solved.

I used a firmware from my country (available here: sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&model=GT-I9000B&pcode=ZTO&os=1&type=1#firmware) and I wiped the cache (I'm not sure what this means, but I believe it is the 2 options on volume up+menu+power)

ICS wasn't faster here - it was laggish and always crashed some common apps (gallery, music player). I believe that the firmware wasn't completely "done" as it was being adapted from another version (my phone is brazilian) and some functionalities that it has (i.e. digital TV) wasn't available.
What I done to correct the boot was simple (I found a tutorial in a brazilian site, so it had all the roms that I needed).
1) Used a PIT and a stock rom to get it back to factory version;
2) Upgraded to Froyo (original) - That was kind of a mistake, the tutorial said to do it because then KIES would update it automatically to Gingerbread. The phone was fully functional, but KIES said that it couldn't update it (it recognized the phone and everything).
The tutorial stoped there, but since I had the ROM, I used Odin to install Gingerbread (the one that was looping) and it was done.
Now I need to remember how to root it because there are some dumb apps who can't get away (i.e. Orkut app, some demo games).
Thank you all for the help!

From recovery you can always try to flash another kernel, that would probably resolve things too. Anyways the problem's solved, glad to help
