me and my SGT P1000N - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi,
it seems like there are not many custom ROMs built for the P1000N version; and not many people here even mention about this model version. Can someone please tell me why? Are the Latin (L & N) versions any less inferior than the other models, like the European's and Asian's?
Thanks

It was my understanding that the Latin Tabs were in the same general boat as the Euro/non-carrier GSM Tab.
Overcome doesn't mess with your modem and works really well on my Euro, FWIW.

Yeah you should be able to flash any EU rom afaik.
btw this is the dev forum for developers to post work etc, not asking questions unless its in reply to a thread, hence why we have a "Q&A" forum.

Moved. Please post questions in Q&A.

[Q] Custom Roms on Galaxy S

Hello everyone,
I'm fairly new to Android. I just switched from Blackberry, and i'm extremely glad that I did. I picked up a Galaxy S Vibrant (GT-I9000M). I'm currently in Canada on the Sasktel network.
I'm interested in trying out some custom roms (Darky's v10.0 RC5.3 seems to sound pretty good), but before I go do this, I have a lot of questions that I can't find answers for.
Firstly, i've read that custom roms should only be applied on "international" versions of the Galaxy S. Is this true? Why is that? Also, i have no idea how to tell if mine is an international version.
There are some instructions that say, "Don't install kernel with this version", or "don't install modem if you have a certain phone" It's a little confusing.. is the ROM not the kernel? It sounds like it'd be easy to brick a phone..
I've also read that the phone has to be unlocked. (mine is not unlocked). Is this a requirement before installing any custom roms?
Apparently, there are different methods to install roms (market apps, odin, saving files to SD card..) is there a preferred method?
If anyone can help with these questions to help get me started, i'd be most appreciative.

Use either KC1 or JL2 these are the Canadian modems. Get them in rom kitchen or if your on CM7 go to Zach's thread and he has it there
How do I get the modem only from the romkitchen ? (I'm using GingerReal rom so I don't want the whole package from romkitchen)
(I remember there was an update.zip only option, but it seems gone)
Just download the modem you want from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9874879&postcount=1
They are all flashable through cwm recovery.
Thanks a lot, bookmarked it
Yeah its a shame they don't sticky the REALLY useful posts, like the above modem listing. There is another fantastic post out there with a complete list of deodexed samsung roms which is lost on the forum somewhere... I'm really sick of scrolling past 11 stickies that only answer maybe 10% of the questions on the general forum.
Anyway, I'm ranting. Glad the link helped!
what is useful is all relative...
Sorry if the thread is closed but i just dont wanna make a new thread just for this... Do any of you guys know any other better modems to use in BC, Canada other than UKG3 with 850Mhz band for Bell Mobility? JL2 and JK4 suck. anything else?

[Q] SGH-T849 Latin Rom

Hi, I have to take the chance to thank all the xda developers and forum users that have helped me with the hints and tutorials. I had never have to ask because all my questions where already answered in the forum but now I have a specific case where I have a SGH-T849 Tmobil tablet and need to install the latin P1000N rom. In case anyone wonder why it is because in the country I am the voice and 3g works perfect with this rom and with the current rom the max I've got is edge + voice.
So the question is .... Can I flash the P1000N stock rom in a SHG T849? If not and some one has the info I would like to know why.
Thanks again.
I used to have tmobile tab and i flashed p1000 roms from the samfirmware without any problems.
You will have to flash tmobile radio after you are done rom flashing.
if you want to be extra careful, dont flash the bootloaders.
Still dont blame me in case you brick it.
You can't flash a "N" rom unless that's your model. They are not compatible.
You won't get 3g on a t-mobile tab unless you're on a t-mobile network (1700/2100 bands). The rom can't change that.
thanks rangercaptain..... little bit late or better said too soon I have tried, I bricked it :-( no download mode no boot only lights the buttons...

looking for Unbranded stock rom

Please, somebody can post a nvflash package or image files of stock rom (prefer android 2.2 or 2.2.2) for unbranded devices of europe? mi streak is the 3g version. THX

International S4A LTE: which Samsung firmware can be flashed safely?

Hi there,
I have a rooted international s4a lte with I9295XXUAMF5. As I have some problems with latency on edge, I was wondering, if I could "simply" upgrade to, say, MF7.
1) Do I need the right version for my provider? (Vodafone Germany, "DBT") or can I download any MF7?
2) Which versions are safe to upgrade without getting KNOXed?
3) I read in some custom rom-threads that special modems need to be flashed. Can I flash some other modem over my MF5 or are these modem files so special that they only work with some special roms?
Thanks for your help and patience (coming from a galaxy nexus and things are a little more complicated now...)
