pure guess but top phones all seem to follow the same pattern... $500 MSRP, $199 upgrade (maybe $50 mail in rebate)
optimus 2x cost
I heard that it could be upwards of 650-700$ range outright
Would this version of optimus 2x suoport tmobile 4g???

Yep, it is said to use it.
that'll be awsome...
does it support LTE?
Can anyone comment on what changes will the UI have now that the 2x has the "G" name? Thanks!

For the sake of clarity, since I have never owned an Android phone before- do you mean the UI is identical to the Nexus phones but OS updates will not mirror the Nexus' schedule? Thanks!
Yes, it will be like the nexus-no ui changes made by the phone company like Samsung Touchwiz on their galaxy s phones. The optimus 2x has lg's motoblur changes in their ui. The US version is unique since it supposedly won't have that, only pure android with no changes. Developers and fans are excited because it is FAR easier to work on clean android builds without manufacturer changes. Learn about "cm7" for example to see what I mean.
As far as updates, it is dependent on the phone manufacturer and the carrier it is on. LG has reported that this phone will launch with 2.2 froyo, but will get a quick update to 2.3 gingerbread which is the newest version of android (and hardly distributed officially at this point).

^saw a video on this just now... there is NO microSD expansion cards?
what is UP with that? don't most droid phones allow microSD? forgive me i haven't looked at new phones in a long while. if it is inside, is it easy to replace w/16 or 32GB? i don't want just 8GB. need 32GB or more... too bad it doesn't accept SDXC nor are there SDXC for cheaper. would luv a 128GB or 512GB SDXC micro card inside

thats because the microSD is inside the phone. I don't think they would allow them to take off the back to show us the microSD.
ah, ok. that makes more sense. i just hope it isn't like the Windows Phone 7 microSDs where it might brick the fone if you tamper w/the microSD card. it's a huge reason why i didn't go w/WP7.
hoping for a keyboard version in the future though... it will be interesting trying to text w/o a keyboard... since i'm so used to it.

It's up to 32gb btw.
Will it be released in April? Hrms, if so, shouldn't T-Mo or BestBuy or XXXX company put out the word for pre-orders? The date's right around the corner!
I heard this will be t-mo's 1st device that can support 42mbps 4G speeds.

I personally cant wait for this, because i dont have 500$ to get a sgs3 or htc one x, because i am on contract. I have an old samsung vibrant and it is going on sale for the nexus 7. I have a hp touchpad, but i damaged the processor somehow from overclocking, and now it lags like crazy when trying to use it. I think from people that dont use android, this could be their first android device. I think the phone ui is much better on tablet like this than the tablet ui, i hope i can use the homescreen in landscape though.
I now have a galaxy s3 and a htc x one and now a nexus 7 tablet soon 16gb.

might as well. only $50 more dollars for double the storage space. most other tabs charging $100+ for double the storage space. I'd rather have to much memory and not use some vs. not have enough and finding yourself constantly deleting stuff to make room(it gets tedious fast).

imho, if you can afford the extra cash to get the 16gb you should get the 16gb. Having no expandable storage you will be stuck with what you buy now. (I do have the (16gb on pre-order).
Pre ordered the 16gb model. Nice to go with my nexus s and galaxy nexus
I don't see why people are complaining so much about it. Its a great tab for the money. No hack a rounds to get software you want on it, good screen, good battery size, good tablet processor. Would have liked the SD card slot but I didn't expect it. 7 inches is fine for movies and reading. I spend almost all my time online on my phone, even at home. This will at least let me read PDF files and web pages and whatnot a bit more comfortably.

i definitely want to get one.. just need to wait for its availability in asia though..
*flame on*
Sorry...but: if the xda-admins allow threads like "recommend not to buy" to creep in here I'd reckon it is ok all the same to flood the topics list with equally silly "buy this" threads. I *don't* think it should be allowed to state *opinions* in the title of a thread, otherwise the *discussion thread proper* will become useless - I'd appreciate *theme threads" only with opinions *within* the discussion board. After all this here should be about discussing real topics, right? And if someone who just loves HTC or works for Samsung spoils the fairness of the topics list with "I hate LG" threads I'd say go get lost.
*flame off*
Otherwise - the LG 4X is the best smartphone there is these days. I have it for 4 weeks now and I own 6 other expensive smartphones and none even comes close. Your mileage may vary, though
+1 spot on!

I'll admit I did find it odd that a "do not buy" thread was allowed to remain on xda, so there should be no problem having a "do buy" thread. At least it keeps the good and bad opinions separate instead of flaming in the same thread.
Mine is due for delivery from Germany today
Reasons why I bought this over the SGS3 and One X:
microSD slot
Normal size SIM slot
Menu button!
Doesnt look like a pebble, nice straight lines
Not glossy plastic
Available in black
UI is very vanilla looking
2150 mah REPLACEABLE battery
Smallest of the three
the 4X is definitely the best phone LG ever made.
I believe it's better than the One X because it's less buggy, more compact, has an expandable SD card and a larger/removable battery.
And Menu button>Multitasking button.
Multitasking button=wasted screen space on legacy/non-ICS optimized apps.

Hi all - I did some searches, but didn't find anything - so, do we have any idea when the 64GB exclusivity agreement with AT&T will be over and Sprint users might be able to get a 64GB version? Is it possible that will never happen?
I've been holding onto my Epic 4g for a long time, and would like to get a device that can also replace my 60GB ipod (or at least come close, as it's almost full). Ideally, I'd like a device that I could get 128GB onto (perhaps via MicroSDXC - even though this phone doesn't support that).
Note that I periodically travel into areas that are poorly served by Sprint's 3g, so please don't sidetrack the conversation much with regards to streaming over teh interwebs.
Thanks!
It's only an att exclusive because none of the other carriers expressed interest in it.
Don't expect the 64gb to land ever.

I'm not sure it means anything but one of the android blogs I follow (don't asking which one because I can't remember) mentioned that sprint isn't getting the 64 gb model until it's no longer an exclusive on att. It read as though att got exclusive rights for a short period. But the article also couldn't back that info up with any solid source, so it's probably total bs. Anyway, I was kinda hoping for 64 gb too but doubt it'll happen.

Lack of SD card was a deal breaker for me too.
However, the HTC One does support USB OTG out-of-the-box; meaning it can support an external card reader connected to its µUSB port.
The combination of 32GB internal memory, the low price (compared to GS4) and the $100 trade-in rebate swayed me towards the One.
Plus the design & construction are top-notch.
Here's what I ordered for mine:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130517411124&ssPageName=ADME:L:eek:C:US:3160
Its not ideal, but its better than not having any support at all.

It's to be expected. Motorola wants every Motorola fanboy to purchase the Moto X. Because they figure if they continue to update the HD to 4.2, then a lot of people wouldn't have the incentive to upgrade, because they'll have the features of the Moto X on an old flagship phone.

Coincidentally, it has officially become part of cyanogenmod, along with the rest of the MSM8960 family:

I'm not really that surprised at this. Hate to say it, but X isn't anything special. I watched the Moto Maker video showing the customizations and its nothing more than colors, a boot logo, and storage size. Looking at the specs, all the new Moto Phones are the same other than screen size and available memory. Atrix HD might be a year older, but its almost the same phone as these. They have more ram and better on board graphics -- I just don't know if that justifies losing my SD card.
The new X makes me sad. I was expecting something a bit more than an updated Atrix\RAZR HD. I think we're better off just getting the Maxx Battery over the new X or Droid Series Phones. The NO SD CARD AT ALL is why I won't be getting one.
I lol'd at the prices. Maxx is $100 more, has 32GB over the Ultra's 16GB and a bigger battery -- that's it and somehow that justifies a $100 price increase. Now I'm wondering if we'll see X/Droid Maxx mod posts because of that.
This news sucks but looking from a different perspective, all flagship phones only last for 1 year: S3 from Samsung, Xperia S from Sony, and OneX from HTC. In the current situation where all the old flagship phones are strong enough to run smoothly Android 4.3 or even 5, if they continue to update the phone with newer software version, no one would buy the new flagship phones.
Great, I doubt I will be able to sell my Atrix HD now.
This is really sick,
I did not expect Moto to leave us before 4.2.2 update...
@skeevydude true that, even I was expecting a lot more from Moto-X but it didn't came up through.... I though we will be able to customize it in sense of ram,screen,battery,processory... but its very unlikely to customize jus the uppershell :/
Meanwhile its good to see official CM support.

I'll buy boot time....but I've always figured it was because the sd card can be a pita from a rom management perspective -- will it be used as swap, sd-ext, like normal with music and such, internal/external hacks, and so on. Because of that, I assume Google wants us to use mini-usb flash drives. Whatever the reason is ($$$ for the upgraded storage model), I like my sd card for my phone -- don't always have access to the net to stream or can because of data plan limitations/caps/quotas.
Has anyone else noticed that the X and new Droids have the same specs as the new Nexus 7.2 Tablet?
I think once a device is "dead" or at least out of warranty, the manufactures should be required to allow you to unlock them. ( I realize we are unlocked now) but my older Droid X and X2 are still locked.
yeah, SD cards are kinda deal breaker for me, I am assuming its going to get harder and harder to get a phone with one.

I know at least Samsung is good about updating their phones. They just updated the S2 Plus to 4.2.2 and according to what I've read they're skipping 4.2.2 for the S3 and Note II and going straight to 4.3. Sony is hit or miss and HTC is just plain bad. How long did it take the thunderbolt to get the promised ICS update? 18 months?

Where would you go with a unlocked CDMA phone and a Verizon one at that? What carrier would activate it?
This really sucks big time... I guess I made the right decision yesterday when a guy offered me a mint nexus 4 for 200... I looked at my sweet sexy white and black Atrix and said sorry baby 4.3 is already ready already... Plus I had a n4 when they first came out only for a week when I lost at strip club... Sucks to loose my SD card but 16gb internal makes up... Sucks to loose lte tmo is blazing in south Florida but I get partial lte with a mod they found... Plus development, well its a nexus that speaks for itself... Ahd is great and in keeping for a lil as backup but I also have atrix 4g with webtop... So I'm going to hold to ahd for a lil but I missed the nexus... And to me screen is much better and pictures come out nicer... as for sd cards, i have no problem with them being eliminated as long as they get rid of low storage option devices. like 8 gb... ridiculous. make it 32, 64 gb for storage options. that more than enough and simple, no sd cards needed.
as for the dead device, i thought we would at least get 4.2, but we will just use the firmware from the moto x. same thing with some hackery we can use it. not surprising though. next phone will probably be an Oppo or Sammy.

We haven't even seen an exploit patch since November 2012, while the RAZR HD/RAZR M have received at least 2 updates since then, upgrading them to 4.1.2 and patching potentially hamrful exploits. You have to work quite hard to find this phone on AT&T and Motorola's websites, they won't spend time to update it IMO.

What area are you from? I purchased a 128GB G920T from T-Mobile last week. They did not have any in stock at the local store, but they were able to ship one to me. Are you saying that this carrier no longer has the 128GB option or that it isn't in store anymore? Also, I would try swappa, I have had some relatively good success there. You're looking at about $600 for the phone if not purchasing it from the carrier though.

Shame I can't find it in white anywhere, but I'm quite happy with my regular White S6..
What's gonna suck is the S7 is coming early next year, likely April is what the T-Mobile people are telling me..
Now that's the reason why they should have include SD Card slots like in the future you need a higher speed and capacity card. I discovered an app called Filmic Pro coming to android. I was excited that to tell my brother to get 128 GB high speed SD card for film recording* but found out that its not possible. Adding card slots isn't a huge loss even though majority people don't use it since the device is still being bought by both crowds anyway.
*Note: I use Canon EOS 5d Mark II and I still wanted to try out new things.

you can use a micro usb to micro sd card adapter.
I can sell you mine slightly used MINT condition if you are still interested! And by the way non rooted, no scratches or any kind of damage, been in case since day 1 with screen protector as well.

It isn't a huge loss, but according to Google it does represent a security flaw.
