Hi I just have what I think is a simple question. I would like to use the updater method to update my overcome rom. What are the necessary steps that I need to take? Thank you!
If you already have Overcome 1.1 or above then you can just download the updater version of the ROM and flash through recovery
Thank you. I was unsure as to what the process exactly was. Flash from my computer or tab? But I was able to figure it out and indeed it was a relatively easy to update from my tab. I'm new to Android so I am just getting used to all the jargon. Thanks for your help and response!
I didnt get your question. did you ask how to upgrade ovecome kernel from v1.1 to v2.2 or somthing?

ICS Repack Problems
Hi all,
I managed to flash ICS Repack by Chainfire on my galaxy note today. It is pretty cool and really fast. But I've few questions to ask regarding this new ROM. Please be kind enough to direct me to a appropriate thread if these questions are already been asked and solved.
After I flash ICS Repack, I cannot find CWM anymore. What happened to it ? and how I can get it back ?
How I can go back to my old GB rooted ROM (I've CW backup of that rooted LB2 GB ROM) ?
By now, this ICS version cannot render South Asian languages. but LB2 rendered it very well. Are there any option to get that language support on this ICS ?
I need to change this Keyboard (Chinese) to English. Any other method to change it (Instead of installing GO Keyboard) ?
In our county phone numbers have two formats (our numbers are start with "0" but receiving calls don't have that starting "0" ). But in this ICS ROM, those 2 numbers are Identifying as two different numbers. Any method to fix that issue ?
Can I get my CPU speed to 1.4GHz again ?
Please be kind enough to help me on these matters.
Thank You.
This is why users should study BEFORE they flash. Anyways. Flash CWM, boot it, resrore backup. Cant help you much. Just got my Note happy studying

Stick with GB for now...people working with ICS around here like to make you jump through hoops just to get your phone to work...so if you're not will to spend the time on it, then stick with GB...no fuss, no muss.
The answer to 3. is a very simple 'yes, you can always go back'.
Also, massive thanks for updating your OP with the answers you have found. If only all question-askers did this.
Hello everyone xda!
I would like to ask on how to root and unroot (and also to install a custom rom on) my galaxy note N7000 with gingerbread 2.3.6 as my OS and have this version:
PDA: N7000XXLA6
PHONE: N7000XXLA4
CSC: N7000OXXLA1
I just recently bought this and felt a little slower in response. And also I want to experience the Ice Cream Sandwich.
Thank you very much in advance.
You having ROM is non rootable. You have following option
-Downgrade to Rootable ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997)
-Install prerooted ROM (see my signature)
-Install ICS ROM then root (see my signature 'installing n rooting ICS)
Thanks sir.
But I got confused on the post. Let me clarify to check if I'm wrong.
First, I'm going to download an older rom which is a rootable in post #1 (I'm just going to select any rom right?)
Then, go to post #2? Is post #2 the method to downgrade my non rootable rom to a rootable one?
What is the purpose of post #3?
I am new in rooting so I'm still confused.
Thank you very much sir.

If you want to have ICS at end, then just do this

-Flash ICS
-Root it
for this follow guide 'ICS Installation N root ' on my signature, afetr downloading required ICS ROM
And if you want to have GB ROM on your device tell me which ROM you want to have, so i can tell you exact steps.

I think I understand now.
I've checked this video that uses your method.
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cJjh6gi0Spw
By using this, I could update my phone to official ICS or to a custom ICS.
Or could I also update to custom ICS even if my OS right now is non-rootable?
Thank you sir.
Cheers,
I've had an issue before when I tried to flash a new rom. As background the thread can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2141714
From what I've read, Samsung finally released the stock JB rom for our Note1 and Im planning to give it another try.
Also a software update from samsung has popped-up, is it safe to update it that way? even tho im on KD5.1 currently?
Or should I just do it via Odin?
As all members already replied in your other thread:
Install the JB stock Rom with PC Odin.
You played around before, so you might have a device configuration that isn't so reliable.
With the PC Odin installation you will get a clean state.
I think you could have asked this question in your existing thread - nothing really new here, isn't it?
Thanks for the quick reply. Any chance you can point me in the right direction as where to get the stock JB Rom?
I decided to create a new thread instead of bringing a dead thread back, but your right I should have just asked there.
Thanks.

You'r welcome. Please read the thread and follow the instructions. Make sure you installed the drivers and your device is recognized in PC Odin. Then it shouldn't be a problem.

Hi,
I am new in this topic, and I want to try out custom ROMs. I have chosen the custom ROM I want to try out (for me this time it's gonig to be CM 10.2 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2435716 ), and I've read some articles and forum threads about this matter.
My Galaxy ACE S5830 runs on Android 2.2.1 and has never been flashed (as far as I know).
I just want to be sure that I won't make any mistake so I need someone to write me down full process that needs to be done. I don't fully understand what comes first and what comes last therefore it would be helpful if someone here could describe me step by step instructions. I have downloaded everything suggested including drivers, cwm, odin and root and above mentioned custom ROM.
I am new in this subject meaning that I have never done this things with my phone.
Also I am not complete layman and I have good software understanding so I don't need extensive descriptions.

Thank you mate u've been very helpful!
I'm still researching and getting a clue which ROM should I use, but by now I know what is the proper order of doing things. All that is left is getting the right, fastest and most stable custom ROM.
Thanks again for the guide
