[Q] Searching for app monitoring battery drain - HD2 Android Themes and Apps

Hi,
I want to find out which apps drain my battery most. I'm looking for an app similar to systempanel full (which can determin those apps), but I don't have a credit card so I need it to be free.
Thanks in advance, cheers

Try "CurrentWidget" its available in the market.

try this EXCELLENT app...
https://market.android.com/details?id=bt.android.elixir
it's also free....

I use Battery Monitor Widget.. you can check which parts of the OS are using your battery by going into Settings->About Phone->Battery->Battery Use

"Battery Monitor Widget" by 3c06 is the best! or you can try "battery indicator"
find in market, free apps.

is anyone else having force close problems with battery monitor widget? At first it was okay not recently it has been acting up. I'm running it on americanandroid.

i think i just updated on friday but my problem was still there yesterday. i'll go and check it out again later. Maybe i'll just uninstall and reinstall it to make sure.

reijkelhof thanks! updated it and everything is good again. i must be thinking about my nook color that i updated over the weekend.

As far as I know the "battery monitor widget" is one of the best. If you have problems with crashes then try to move the app from SD to phone. That's mostly the problem why updated apps won't start anymore. With old android my apps are installed to phone...with ginger most apps are installed to SD. After updating angry birds as example it was also installed to SD and did not work anymore.

[Q] HTC Hero loses space

Hey guys,
I haven't been able to find very much on this, so if you guys can help, that'd be great.
This morning, I woke up, and my phone said "low on space". I tried everything from a reboot to taking the battery out, etc. Then I went into Menu>Setting>SD and Phone storage, and something caught my eye. The "Available Phone Storage" area was losing memory as I was looking at it! It decreased from 500kb, and settled down somewhere around 28kb. And two days ago i had 30MB!!! How did this happen?

The only thing I can think of being a culprit would be an app that needs to be downloading tons of data. I know the XDA app downloads data when you view new forums... do you use that a lot?

Ok, try this. Do a fresh install of whatever ROM you're using, and don't install any extra apps. See if you start to lose space like you are right now. Then, install the apps one by one, and you'll see which app is taking up your free space.
Have you tried a wiping and restoring your ROM? That may be your only option. Strange issue to have

+1...beat me to it
my wifes was doing this, i noticed the "contact storage" was almost 80mb! She has over 300 friends on FB and its set to refresh that every 2 hours. Try clicking on menu-settings-then accounts &sync... they are set at default to every2 hours. it would freeze her phone and couldn't receive texts or calls until its don't refreshing sometimes too more than an hour. not sure if this is a complete fix or not just tried it earlier today.
Its the HTC Mail app possibly. There are temp files building up. Only way to clear them is to be rooted and delete them with a file manager.

[Q] Do you suffer from Gallery Sensor battery drainage?

After using the gallery app and leaving the phone for a while, check the battery usage of the sensors by typing in *#*#4636#*#* in the dialer. Choose sensor usage and since last unplugged. See if the Gallery is in the list and see what time usage it has taken.
If the time is close to the time since you last used the Gallery then the sensor is unnecessary draining the battery.
WE NEED TO FLOOD SAMSUNG WITH TWEETS AND FACEBOOK MESSAGES WITH THIS PROBLEM! IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!!!
I Get this - Official Froyo JPO - UK CPW Unlocked I9000- CF Root, Voodoo lagfix
Using Just pictures instead, but annoying to say the least as i causes huge battery drain.
yes it happen to me too after upgrade tu JPO..........i really have no idea how to solve it and hope someone come with the solution ASAP!!!!! but hope Samsung will be the first.....my gallery usage is the same time with my phone time after the last charging eventhough i rarely or never use the gallery....!!!! so annoying that need to charge it everyday!!!!
deleting your gallery.apk and replacing it with the latest update from the market fixes it.
How to delete the gallery.apk can be found here on the forums.
Yes! this is crap. Without gallery running I get virtually 0 drainage in standby mode and with gallery on I'm losing about 4-5%/hr =|. I'm wondering if changing the gallery apk will help here...
thanx...but by deleting the gallery will i get a new gallery from the market with beautifull 3D interface like this one? but if it the only way....i got no choice right!!! my battery life is more important...hmmm

I could find gallery 3d developed by Rayman50? I installed the same. Still getting the same drain issue. Or are you talking of some other app?
can you give me some instructions onto how to remove the Gallery app, when ever I try to remove it it keeps saying it cannot find the file even though I'm in the correct directory /system/app/Gallery3D.apk

Use root explorer navigate /system/app from there delete gallery.apk. Restart your phone then install the same from market. Or use adb. I don't know the commands for it though. If someone could help!

Use root explorer or similar to delete the gallery.apk, delete all the cache related stuff it made ( search the forum ) and reboot your device, download the gallery3d app from the market and install, it fixed it for all of us who actually did it.

it refuses to delete, says it deleted but it's still there. i have root, using android mate, given it root access but i just cant delete the file. even in adb, it says the dir is read only
I also get this bug. Thanks for reporting it.
I think you can stop the bug by clearing the ram using the built in task manager and using a level 2 clear memory. I think it's working for me.
Any proper fixes? I really like using the built in Samsung gallery.
Edit: Doesn't work.
yup, had it unplugged for 10hrs 40 mins
the gallery is showing 9hrs 24 mins....WTF!!!!!!
my battery is on 6% turned it off and charing it right now!
I thought there was something really wrong with the battery life...now I KNOW!
Nice find ... Even killing it doesn't stop the use of sensor

does it give a big change after you did it or equal to the Eclair battery life????..and what is the time for your gallery usage after that???
Anybody come up with a solution for this?
Last night I reboot the phone and didn't use the standard gallery for 8 hours and guess what. The gallery drainage stopped. So I am looking for the other apps to replace the standard one.
I removed the Gallery3d.apk and .odex from the system/app folder.
I then rebooted and installed the Gallery 3D app from the market.
Now when I check the sensor battery usage, the gallery time seems to be about the same time I have actually been in the app. So so far, the problem seems solved.
This is a bit annoying especially since the gallery was one of the first things i used just after upgrading to this ROM. Not sure i like the idea of having to delete the bloody app just to get decent usage!

At least with a quick use I didn't find the market app any different, except it is in English and not in Finnish like I have set my phone.
Just make a backup of the original files and it's safe.

[Q] Any app which shows which app is eating battery?

HI Guys
I see some spikes in the current usage from battery pro but does not say why or which apps is using it.Is there some way to find it out?I know the battery use in settings. ut it does not count the widgets power draw and most applications.
Thanks
You could try CurrentWidget, it has a log function.
Thanks, yes it does have a log. However it does not tell whcih app was using the power, right?

closest ive come to such thing is Spare Parts or Spare Parts plus, which doesnt tell u the app but what consumed battery say :
Partial wake usage
or CPU
or network
other than that, ive read that Battery Monitor Widget & Process Monitor Widget were supposed to merge together at one point of day, to identify what process actually used mAH of battery but i think thats not done, yet
i could be wrong
PowerTutor gives some info on power usage by app
its simple to know about, use any application like taskmanager to view opened applications and see how many percent the processor is using to run it, more the percent is, more the battery will be consumed.
its not a final solution but you can consider it like a tip.
I use Drain-O-Meter. It lists top to bottom which apps are using the most battery.
Is drain o meter in the market? I can't see it

Could you please share the drainometer.apk?

[Q] CM 10.1.2 Phone App Battery drain

Hello, a newbie here. I just got Cyanogen mod 10.1.2 stable on my phone and everything is running smoothly except the BATTERY. It's getting drained like crazy even on standby mode by com.android.phone (blue icon) according to my Battery Mix app.
What could be causing it to run like that, and does anyone know how to fix it? Help would be much appreciated! And let me know if you need any additional info. Thanks!

Battery widgets not keeping up

I just got my Mi3 today and it is amazing. But one software problem is bothering me a lot. I installed a battery widget app from the play store and placed the widget on the homescreen. But after some time, the widget stops working and does not update the battery percentage. I tried a lot of other apps but still this issue persists on all of them. I'm on MIUI version KXDMIBH34.0. Please help.

That was the first app I tried. It doesn't work when the battery indicator in the notification panel is turned off. I guess MIUI is killing the widget from memory. Strange. This never happened on my previous phone!
