hi,
can i install sype on the htc desire hd and is there a a option with the portugues keyboard...

We already have a thread on this topic.
And to answer your question - mainly to answer ALL questions about customization: IT'S ANDROID, FOR GOD SAKE!
You can do with it, what ever you like.
swype on HTC Desire HD
I've never had an HTC phone and android is a mystery to me. Up to now I've had Nokia and a Samsung omnia (used it only a few days and went back to my old nokia). It's time to get a new phone and - having big hands (and fingers too) - I'm thinking about the Desire HD. The critics are very good.
What I don't understand is the following... as far as I know, the Desire HD will not be available before somewhere in october. Yet you claim that swype is available for - and compatible with - the Desire Hd. I'll take your word for it, but why didn't HTC put it directly on the HD???
You say "It's and android for God's sake". What do you mean by that? Will all apps work on the HD just because it's an android?
I'm sorry if my questions look stupid to you, but like I sais, android is a mystery to me (although I am eager to find out more, even though I am 59 years old).
Thanks for your answer. Cheers!

A Superbly warm welcome to the android crowd. Oh... you know - to describe the android platform I need to say - If you are willing to spend some time with it, than you can make it to whatever you want it to be, to look, to feel. Just use your imagination and this fantastic forum. When the phone comes out, trust me, there is going to be so much hype and work to make this phone perfection.
...
It won't come out of the box with swype, cuz, how we all know - SWYPE - is an Samsung product.
...
But think about this, this way. If the XDA genies managed to port the yet not released HTC Desire HD ROM to the HD2, Droid Incredible. Trust me, to port the swype function to the Desire HD is going to be a ordinary everyday task to preform for our SuperB developers.
...
Isn't that right?
...
+1 to me.

Good to hear that your keeping up with the advance in technology!
The reason (as far as I know) that Swype is not installed on HTC phones is that it belongs to Samsung and they don't want it to be installed on other phones.
Off course it's very easy to obtain this program via the usual but no so legal ways and to install it on the phone. I installed it on my girlfriends Desire.
So it is possible, but please don't discuss this on XDA because Samsung does not like this!
Thank you very much for your answer

You're always welcome.
Swype is owned by Samsung? Do please link me a source for that, cause I totally missed that out.
Seeing that several Motorola devices are able to get Swype, heck even Droid X and Droid 2 comes with it preinstalled.
In fact, myTouch 3G even got it.
All of those dosen't seem like Samsung phones too me.
In fact, aint it the creator of T9 that is behind Swype?

Swype is a commercial product, that is sold to different partners (like Samsung)
so that they can include it in their phones. There may be other company's that have the right to sell phones with swype on it. These companys spent money on swype hoping that potential buyers will see it as a "plus" and buy their phones. So Samsung may not be the owner of the company or the have the exlusive rights to use swype, they have bought the right to sell their phones with swype included. I know that Samsung has complained a lot about posts regarding the "illegal" use of swype. This may have something to do with their current marketing campaign of the Galaxy S.
Its very much possible to install Swype on any Android phone, but company's that have paid money for this don't want to many people to know about this.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swype#Availability
So no, Swype is definitely not owned by Samsung. They've just payed to have it included in the SGS software.
Desire HD
Thank you all for your answers.
I am a bit puzzled... I read (and hear) so many wonderful things about the Desire HD (and also about the Nokia N8) and yet they are not available at the moment. A few months ago, there was the same hype about the Samsung i9000. You should read the critics now.... it's not bad, but it's certainly not was the "experts" said it would be (before it was released).
I am still very interested in the Desire HD, but I am eager to read the reactions of people once it's been on the market for a few weeks.
Warning about Swype
Dnn't anyone getting themselves or the site in trouble; http://www.xda-developers.com/announcements/xda-notice-swype/

Cheers,
This is not intended as a speculation thread about Gingerbread update for optimus black!
I have seen some information on LG facebook page about the netherlands receiving the update. I would like to ask if this information is valid.
The reason for opening a new thread just for a question is that there is no other open thread related to Gingerbread update for optimus black on this forum.
Also I would like to ask the kind moderator overseeing this forum not to close this thread, but instead I suggest to keep it clean (by editing/deleting missplaced/insulting posts).
Should anyone have any other information related to the update, feel free to post it, just please don't "speculate"!
Translated from italian: Lg italia Facebook
In response to numerous requests received, LG has tried to speed up as much as possible the release of Gingerbread for Optimum BLACK declaring its readiness to start this week.
We regret, but there are problems with imperative that forced us to delay the release of Gingerbread for Optimus in BLACK.
LG's goal is indeed to ensure the highest quality releases on sw. We are confident to release the update in the coming weeks.
We apologize for the inconvenience and we thank all users of Optimus Black for your confidence.
sincerely
LG MOBILE.
My Europe Open phone does not currently have any updates besides v10E. Unless the system checks for the country in which you are currently in (as you can travel with your phone anywhere and the system checks for the IMEI afaik), there is no current update. A post will be made as soon as it is available.
Please DO NOT reply to this thread unless you have *proof* that it has been released, or any other official announcement (with source included). Any other reply will probably only be trolling or spamming. Thanks

What can you discuss about it? "is it here yet?!?!?!?!?!?" "why it is not here yet?????" "LG sucks" "the world hates us" "never going to buy LG again" "I hate you all". There is only one fact: it has not yet been released, and nothing we do will influence that, no matter how much we "discuss" it
That is the kind of answers you will shortly see in a GB speculation thread. Will it be helpful to anyone? most likely not. Will it get in the way of people that check this forum to actually see when it is really released? probably yes. Just my two cents
Well a lot of people want a speculation thread so why not give it to them?
Think admins are locking these threads for no good reason.

I guess a thread about GB makes sense while LG announces officially update, then nothing happens, then LG apologize. It's good to write the news somewhere, for people who's time isn't unlimited for searching such things. And also, there's no speculation when there are official announces. A speculation is based on a thought, on something unsure and unknown, not a fact.

Can anyone tell me what benefits GB have over Froyo? I don't think about bugfixes, i think about performance, new GUI options for MODs etc. Why do people want GB so much? And what does GB lack that will be so awesome with ICS? I haven't figured that out yet. I don't care for the new GUI, it looks kind way to flashy bling bling, dark with "blue neon", kinda geeky, lol.
I mean, i don't want my phone to look like a colorful toy, i want it to look sleek and sexy, and ofc preform well I'll mod every possible aspect of the phone, at least those whose look childish (and a lot of LG's crap do).

Thank you. And a glaring example is right above your post. Alyy81, posts like yours are why these threads get closed.
You do not need a thread where people rant, rave, whine and cry about the antipated GB update. It benefits no one and causes nothing but disruption in the forum. If it were to remain an informative place where real information could be shared it would be one thing, but that's not the way these threads generally go. They get reported. By forum participants. It isn't an arbitrary decision on my part or on any other moderator's part. For responding to reports and keeping the forums clean we get berated, called stupid, dictators, and any other manner of vile insults.
This thread is now closed. As will be any other thread opened like this. If any real information comes out send it to me and I'll post it in the thread I updated today. Send me a PM with the information and if it is real, good information it will be posted.

Change the button mappings so that one of the buttons do not exist, and see if that gives you an on screen button. To the best of my knowledge ICS detects hardware buttons, so if it thinks there is no physical home/back/search button it will create an on screen version.

I agree that rudeness is not needed but:
#1 You posted a request in the development section. Questions or requests should not be posted here.
#2 You should have posted in your OP:
a. What you are requesting
b. The conditions you are in / working with (status)
c. What you have looked up already
d. What you have attempted already
The last 2 are key - its shows you are not lazy and you are genuinely trying to fix / solve the problem yourself.
Good luck
Since we now have an official GB build for our LG-P925, i really think this forum should be cleaned up and all the builds that are built from LG-P920 GB Base should be removed. Since they are not actually for our device.

It's that there are other carriers in this world that exist. Besides AT&T and all.
Now tell me.
Q: If there wasn't the international version or the P920 ROMs were "banished" from our Device section, do you really think I'd still be here?
A: NO. AT&T is worthless. For the fact that they'd like to bloat everything and put restrictions and whatnot.
Conclusion?
Leave it as is.
EDIT 2: End rant. Every developer needs to have one of these. xD

I'd say no. They are compatible with our thrill, its the same phone.
Rogers Canada uses the P925 but calls it by its official LG name, the optimus 3d.
Should the forums be combined?
Probably. If you're willing to modify your phone with a custom ROM then you should be able to change apns and all that good stuff. Why should we keep it seperate thus making it harder for users to find a good ROM?
The average USA user isnt going to search for the optimus 3d forum.
Do you think the optimus 3d mods should get rid of roms that were made from a LG thrill dev?

poyensa said:
MOD EDIT: BEFORE POSTING ANY THREAD IN THE DEVELOPMENT SECTION, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING:
If you have developed a ROM, or are working with others to do so, the development forum is somewhere to discuss and share ideas, post useful feedback and logs or crash dumps, and to discuss a common goal developers are trying to achieve.
It is NOT the place to post your question because it gets higher traffic, or because more experienced users frequent it. Doing this just annoys those who are working on the device, and drives them away. Developers don't want to wade through 20 threads of "Help me urgently" to find their threads for porting and fixing camera issues etc. Similarly, if a thread is designated as discussion for developers say, porting a camera fix, please do not post in there asking "When will it be ready?", "Can I flash this yet?" etc. This is both completely disrespectful to those working on the project (you evidently haven't read the important posts in the thread), and also is making it harder for developers to find comments from other developers or testers when required.
Similarly, don't make loads of "Thanks for your work here" posts in an active development thread. It's just as annoying to developers as asking when something will be ready. If a ROM is complete, then go ahead and thank the developer if you wish, but don't go into threads for devs only, and interrupt it to post "thanks". It's basically spamming, and is treated as such.
If you are posting in development, you should have read every sticky and notice there, and should be actively developing or helping in the development of something. Developing isn't installing a ROM, or using a tweak, it's creating a ROM or other hack or tweak. If you haven't read for several days before starting out on XDA, you are likely about to ask something already solved. I registered on XDA when I first wanted to post, and that was to join in a discussion on something. Sure, join up and ask a question, but read the information available in General and Q&A first, as your question will have been asked before. Search is your friend here, become familiar with it.
Regarding when to post in development if you are not actually developing something, there is one occasion where it's acceptable. If you find a leak of a new ROM, which isn't already posted, and you verify it's legitimacy via either running it, or based on the source you obtained it from, then this is assisting in development, and should be posted in development. If you want to ask when a leak will be available use search first, then if not already in discussion, open a thread in general or Q&A.
If you have a problem flashing a ROM, this is NOT related to development. It's up to you to determine if it is specific to a particular ROM, and post useful information in that developer's existing thread for the ROM. If it happens on more than one ROM, and isn't a known issue (remember you should read several times more words than you post), then find out what you are doing wrong. Check guides written by others, try to repeat the problem and see if it happens every time. Something needs to be reproducible to be fixed effectively.
Once you have identified what you need help with go to the device Q&A forum (general if device lacks one), and make a clear, informative thread that explains the issue, and what you have tried doing to fix it. Did you re-download the ROM? Did you ask a friend to flash it for you, to reduce chance of user error? What steps (exactly) did you follow? What errors did you see (exact wording)? Did you double check all the steps? Did you do a wipe or hard reset?
If you make a clear, concise, yet detailed post, you will find help forthcoming, and should get the problem sorted very quickly. If someone suggests you try something, report back on what happened, did it work etc. Then, next time someone has this issue and searches, they will find this and have a verified and tested solution.
So remember... before you start a thread in development, ask yourself what you are developing. If you can't answer, then stop, step away from the post button, and think about where you are posting. Would it be better in General or Q&A, or is some more time with your best friend, search, required?
Regards,

And let me point out that the P920 and P925 are pretty much the same phone. Quoted from Engadget's review of the Thrill 4G:
Talk about a spitting image of the LG Optimus 3D. Don't get us wrong, we were expecting the Thrill 4G to be incredibly similar to its global counterpart, of course -- we just didn't believe it would be that close. We expect US carriers to take a handset popular in other parts of the world, tweak its design, change the UI and essentially turn it into a completely different phone. Interestingly enough, we found it difficult to find any significant variations at all between the twins aside from a few minor adjustments.

Obviously you dont know what your talking about because v20c and v20p are totally different. You cant use any existing kernels on v20p, the result is a phone with no cell signal and you cant even open apn settings. Also if no one has noticed yet v20p does have new features, one ive noticed is when you receive a text message at when phone is locked there is a cool text message pop up icon now in the middle of the lock screen that you can press snd slide down to unlock straight to messages, also if you use the built in email app its the same thing, also with a missed call.

I agree with akwhite, V20c is the best stock ROM to base off of; v20p is almost the same but loaded with AT&T annoyances such as the name in the notification bar. I just loaded v20p to see how it was, but it's obvious v20c is the way to go. Rogers seems to be alot better at keeping their branding less obtrusive and more removable. V20p and v20c are pretty much the same.

Be reminded that Half of BioHazard is built ORIGINALLY off the O3D in general specifically because the very first GB Baseband mostly changes the device name and overruns software in order to put our device on possibly the first US/EU Baseband portable to the Thrill.
Yes! This is the "Thrill" forums and if I'm not correct the O3D was advertised FIRST and the most in Europe, it wasn't til a month later that the device WE call the Thrill wad advertised. Most Optimus models made are mainly for Europe! This making our device a European output device Originally based on P920. I'm beginning to think the reason for the long GB Official wait was because LG wanted to bug out the early released European GB.
Look at the facts of most European devices, half of our Mobile devices are based off them.
You slowly seem like you not even care for BioHazard. The first working GB ROM made mostly for Thrill in order to make a break and give us at least some 4G Speed & Signal.

Hello, rather a new ish member to XDA. Well im not new,I've always used xda, just never had an account, made an account, haven't used it since til now,so excuse me if this is in the wrong category.
I,being a fan of Milk music, miss having a samsung just because I can't get it any way else. I noticed that there was a hack before, and a while back i tried that, it didn't work. I couldn't get samsung account to work and it would skip all songs until it would spam the notification that I've hit skip limit.
So the main question is: Is there a new milk music hack to work on 5.1 devices(my nexus 6 for example) or at least the new version of Milk, or am I forever doomed without the wonderful app?

to answer your question, I am clueless, since I stay away from Samsung devices. BUT.. I can help you in XDA. you posted your question in the general category. instead, all questions, or if help is needed, these questions get posted into the q&a/help section. so, since you are looking for an answer, I'll ask a mod to move your thread into the correct section.

Hi, a quick search for your question, yielded no results from this forum. However, have a look here:

See if you can find anything similar. Good luck!
Thank you both! seems to be that there's nothing yet. Oh well.
