[Q] Which SBF to use for Singapore Milestone?? - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

Hello,
I own a Motorola Milestone which I purchased from Starhub Singapore. I am currently using this phone in Bangladesh.
Now, I would like to root my phone to install CM 7, and I understand that I need to flash a vulnerable recovery. But I could not find a singapore SBF. Now my question is, which SBF should I use? would it be okay if I used the UK retail one (Bangladesh uses the UK basebands, 900 and 1800)??
Thanks
Rafi

There are no region specific versions for CM7. Use the latest CM7 release and that should work. If you have baseband issues you can change it using AOR. If you are looking for 2.2.1, check for SBF's at http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone#section221
(note that service versions won't wipe your system while non-service ones will).

Sorry, I think my question wasn't clear.
My milestone doesnt have hard root yet. So i need to root the phone to install ROMs. Now before rooting, I need to flash an SBF using RSD lite, since I am still on 2.1. Now my question is, would there be any problem if I flashed the UK retail SBF, instead of the Singapore SBF??

Best option would be to install got 2.2.1. That way you need not install VR and can flash CM7 directly.

Ok, so what is got 2.2.1? and what are the steps for installing it? can i install it without rooting my phone?
And if i want to get hard root, which steps should I follow?
I am a noob here, so any help is much appreciated.
Thnk u

The first 2.2.1 that was released by the GOT team. You can download it from the link below.
http://groupoften.wordpress.com/2010/10/16/g-o-t-2-2-1-released/
Then run openrecovery and root your phone and then flash CM7. You should use androidiani openrecovery.

That's a sbf. Flash it using rsdlite. Search xda milestone development forum for guides. There are many.

[Q] Milestone Updates Question

I am new to Motorola Milestone and need some info and hope this forum can provide some answers.
The latest X10 minipro update update from SonyEricsson lock up the system and made it unrootable, you have to downgrade and then upgrade again using a rootable version.
My question is, will this be happening for Milestone if i upgrade or update from Motorola website ?
Thanks for the help.
Yup! Actually, I think you will lose root in any android phone that you will update.

Thank you geevee11 for the quick reply.
my next question is, is there a generic rootable version of the latest update available so that i can update to the generic version instead of from Motorola site ?
once again, thanks for your help.

It depends what you mean by latest update?
Motorola has not updated its Eclair (2.1) ROMs in a while.
We are about to get official Froyo (2.2) updates from Motorola (Q1-2011, so the next 2.5 months).
Most people install whatever ROM they want, downgrade the recovery (by flashing the vulnerable recovery only SBF) and then Root from inside their OpenRecovery variant (GOT, Androidiani).
The GOT Froyo leak SBF already includes a vulnerable recovery.
Many ROMS based on Kabaldan's CM6 port (based iteself on the AOSP) already have root.
Did this answer your questions or confuse you?

South-East Asia should work just fine. After flashing the sbf you should be back to stock, just check to see.

To check if the phone is rooted(it shouldn't be after flashing stock sbf), you can use Terminal Emulater from the Market and type su
If you see root or root 0(I believe), you are still rooted.

You are not able to get root on KL7/KL8/LA1 or newer. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
If you want to gain root you have to reflash an older stock rom via odin.
See post 2 and 3 of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
It's very well explained and works great! Just follow every step.
So which is the latest Rom that you will recommend for me. I prefer Rom for Middle east or India. Advise please...

I would say "Yes" and "Yes".
So I think you're indian and for sure you have to use the indian firmware.
I don't know about any issues relating to the GSM carrier.
I update Indian ROM from Dr.ketan's link. And working fine now. And I root again. Many thanks.
And hope I will get the updates from this series Rom, even if am outside the India. Right?

Want to root my Samsung Galaxy s3 4G confused

Hello all,
I have read many posts about rooting the phone above but am confused.
All i want to do is root the phone and keep the original rom.
If i root it then update to 4.1.2 jellybean when its released for my phone do i have to root it again?
I really need to know step by step the process so i dont mess it up.
Firstly i beleive i need to backup my iemi is this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1946915 the correct procedure?
I then save that file it generates incase i need to restore is this correct?
I was then going to use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125414 but am confused where it says "Flash an Insecure Kernel before using Samsung Quick Root".
Where do i find an insecure kernal for the above phone?
I then read about ClockworkMod Recovery what does this do and should i use it?
Can someone please help me step by step as im really new to Android.
Sorry for so many questions but coming from years having an iphone to Android its like wow.
Cheers and thanks in advance.

Obagleyfreer i read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32235061&postcount=1 and unsure of part 13.
I want to root but just keep the standard rom that the phone came with.
Also if i update to 4.1.2 jellybean do i need to backup and root again?
You just need to flash the zip that's linked in part 13 to get root access.
You do this in CWM recovery.

Hi
Seems like you ar pretty novice to this.
If you root you cant update to latest from Settings -》About -》 Update. Root makes it imposible that way.
Instead you have to flash the latest rom from www.sammobile.com using Odin (windows) and rootvit again.
Or you wait till some one kind pre roots the rom and makes it flashable through Clockworkmod (easiest way)
All the strange words you have to look up your self.

Ok i check www.sammobile.com and i dont see a version of 4.1.2 jellybean for my phone.
Will the international versions of 4.1.2 work on my phone?
Will they have bloatware or carrier logos?
When i flash a rom do i have to flash the modem as well?
Can i just flash rom over rom or should i clean the cache first?

Its not released yet for every country. I dont find it for sweden either.
And you can expect the same thing from updated rom as the rom you are on now.
The roms from sammobile is only for your country becaus it contains the proper modem and apn info for your country and carrier.
As I said before best way to get a rooted and neat rom is letting the experts in xda compile a version that is flashable through cwm.
Look in the description if modem is included.

Can you install the ROM G900M in G900A using Odin?

I'm trying to use the firmware I downloaded in sammobile.com
along with Odin 3.11.1 to put the G900M firmware in a G900A .
I tried it for nationalize this device that I bought in the US and does not come with the Portuguese/BR language.
It is possible?
I read something about using a backup with EFS. but I need to do root and a lot of things. Only with the Odin I could?
Thanks!
I think you will brick your device if you flash a FW that is not meant for your device.
Realy Sensei22? Maybe using a diferent version like g900F...
Or a alternativa ROM like cyanogen... Cold you recomend anyone?
don't flash anything that was not meant to be for your phone. CM will require root access, so if you are already on 5.0 or above there is just no way to do it.
Really, you will brick your device. The at&t models are bootloader locked. Flashing other ROMs will brick.

Thank you guys for the tips! I was frustrated, but ok!:crying:
If anyone knows of any good ROM for the 900A ...
Or since I have no way to remove the applications from AT & T ... if someone at least know of any tutorial to add the Portuguese language to the device ...
Thank you!

If it's still on KitKat, there's the possibility of root. Then you can run a custom ROM from the SD card.

Hi. To root G900A follow this link: (from android 4.4.2)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s5/general/g900and3tong3keeprootota-zip-t2862299
I'm using an unlocked ATT phone on T-mobile, so I don't get updates.
However, everybody assumes is easy to install new firmware after rooting, but I just can't find good step by step instructions on how to update my phone to lollipop. I neet to preseve the root after updating, and ideally get rid of all the ATT bloatware. Unbraded firmware will be ideal, but I can't find lucid comments regarding on how to do it, and if it possible in the ATT 900A.
Thanks.
