[Q] Help! Problem with... alot! - T-Mobile HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Development

Need some help in getting a stock rom to work and flashing a custom rom once thats' fixed.
I decided to go back to a basic HD2 and reload my custom rom on a fresh system. I downloaded and installed a stock rom, went to install my custom rom (Elegancia v2) and a couple things happened. First the flash failed with an error that there was a communication problem, though I could see the device on Active Sync. Now it's stuck at the white HTC page when I turn it on so something is wrong with the stock rom is some way to prevent it from booting through. It did that yesterday but not today. All I"ve done is continue to try to flash the custom rom and fail.
A magic bullet would be nice here.

Ok sense you posted this in the T-Mobile Development section I assume you have a TMOUS HD2 and I also am going to assume you got your stock ROM via the official T-Mobile HTC HD2 upgrade. You can try to reflash the ROM by manually putting your HD2 into bootloader (muticolor screen). Turn your HD2 off and then turn it back on but hold down the volume down button as it is booting it will bring up bootloader. Connect your HD2 via USB cable to your computer and wait until the Serial in the white bar of bootloader changes to USB and your computer regonizes your HD2 (this should happen simultaneously). Right click on the update utility and click on run as adminastrator.
But if you keep getting the communication error you can try flashing via a SD card. You will need a SD card formated Fat 32 it is recommended to use a smaller GB card but if you format your 16GB SD card it should work. Make sure you make a back up copy of your SD card on your computer before you reformat it. To learn more abput how to do this go to this thread. It can tell you all you need to know to flash via SD card. Also when you rename the Ruu_signed.nbh file it is not case sensative so you can name it LEOIMG.nbh or leoimg.nbh it does not matter. Be advised though no matter wich method you use to flash you will have to reflash HSPL to your HD2 before you can flash your custom ROM.

Tried that and no joy. I can get to the bootloader and see USB at the bottom of the screen but it won't go beyond that. Such is life. I worked it out with TMobil to exchange the phone with no penalty (hopefully that sticks0 but I'd still like to get my old one working. Not idea how I got stuck on the white page nor why this is happening at all but I want to try to prevent it in the future.

Hmmmm when you have your HD2 plugged into the computer while in bootloader and it says USB in the white bar of bootloader. Go down to the bottom right of your task bar and click on the little icon to safely remove a device. See if it lists your phone as "HTC USB Sync". If it does not list it as this you need to either try another USB port or update your USB drivers. Try updating the drivers while your HD2 is connected to your computer and in bootloader.

I had the same problem. I was in the bootloader screen with USB showing at the bottom. But when I tried to flash something I'd get a connection error. I just unplugged the usb from my pc and plugged it into a different usb slot, and walaa it started installing the htc drivers. Also in active sync, check the connection settings and make sure allow usb connections is checked.

Thank you for sharing, like very much

HELP!!! Stuck at Boot Screen. NEED SD IMAGE FILE

Hope you guys can help me out. I disassembled my Cingular 8125 to try and improve the earpiece speaker. I put the device back together and turned it on and it sticks on the boot screen.
When I try to do a hard reset, I get to the point where I have to press send (green button), but then displays the following for a second and then goes back and freezes on the boot loader screen:
format FAT partition
format is complete
I've read some stuff about being able to recover from this using the SD card, but I'm not sure how to do it. If it is possible to recover from SD card, can someone please upload the appropriate files to the ftp site?
Please HELP!!! My ROM versions are below:
IPL: 2.16
SPL: 2.16
GSM: 02.07.10
OS: 2.16.9.1
Thanks!!!
Update:
I'm able to get to the mutli-colored screen by holding the Camera Button prior to starting the Wizard back on. I plug in my USB to my computer, but my computer says "USB Device Not Recognized". How can I get a new ROM on to my device? I tried running the ROMUpdateUtility.exe from a ROM, but it obviously wouldn't work because my computer doesn't see my phone. Please help!!
Thanks!!
Update #2:
When connected to the computer, I got to device manager and see an unknown device under USB. I uninstall the device and do a scan for hardware changes. This finds the phone, but it still shows up as an unknown device. It does say that device is ready to use, but when i try to run the ROM update utility, it still cannot find my phone.
Do I need special USB drivers for the phone to be recognized?
Please guys, any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!!!
you shouldnt need any special driver for your computer to connect to Wizard.
did you install ActiveSync at all ? perhaps its using the driver from that installation....
What OS are you using ?
Yes, I've previously installed ActiveSync 4.1. I am using Windows XP. Would it help to try to uninstall/reinstall ActiveSync? I may give that a try. Will keep you posted. Any other suggestions?
EDIT:
Just tried to uninstall/reinstall ActiveSync and it still says USB device not recognized
it looks like a dead ROM, hope it has nothing to do with the hardware.
Anyway, you try looking through this forum, there are some people who've got stuck on the boot screen, and did a flash (via the bootloader screen, e.g. the multi colour one) on the ROM and seems to fix the problem. Probably you want to put this option last. Mean while, wait for others to repsond, and you may well start looking on how to flash the ROM from bootloader screen.

Thanks for responding. I'm ok with having to reflash, but the problem is that my computer doesn't seem to recognize my device when i'm at the multi color screen.
Isn't there a backup battery in these devices? I had my Wizard disassembled for 4 hours. I guess the backup battery could have died during this span, but even if it did, what implications would that have?
You still have hope
Get it to the bootloader screen. Connect via USB to your PC (make sure you have active sycn installed) and run an RUU to replace your ROM. I had to do this after trying to downgrade to the original Cingular ROM on my 8125. Scared the S*!T out of me when it hung on the Splash screen and wouldn't load. I thought it was toast but using the Bootloader and an RUU it put it back to normal again.
It won't look like the PC is recognizing the device but it will as long as its in Bootloader.
Let us know if you get it fixed.

Thanks for the reply. The problem is that when I plug the device into my computer, I get a USB device not recognized error. I try to proceed with ROMUpdateUtility.exe anyways, and get this error:
"The update utility cannot connect to your PDA phone..."
Seems like updating via USB is not going to work for me. Can I write a backup to the SD card from the PC, put the SD card in the phone, and then boot from there? I've read some posts along these lines, but detailed steps would be very helpful. THANKS!!!
You need an SD card dump image.
This is NOT a file in the sense of a file on the SD card. Its a RAW image. You need someone who has dumped their firmware in that fashion to send you the SD image.
You then write it onto the SD card using something like "psdwrite" (which will, by the way, DESTROY the filesystem on the SD card - don't have anything on there you care about!) and then insert it into the phone with the power off. Hold the CAMERA button and turn it on; when it asks if you want to restore the image, hit VOICE.
Note that for 1.x IPLs/SPLs the backlight will be OFF during this procedure, so you have to pay attention and/or have a good flashlight handy.

Genesis3,
Thanks for your wonderful insight. I really appreciate your help.
Now can someone help me with getting an SD image? What constitutes an image file? Is it simply the .nbf file? Do I just use psdwrite and copy the nbf file onto the card? Is there something on the FTP site I can use? My configuration as mentioned in the original post is:
IPL: 2.16
SPL: 2.16
GSM: 02.07.10
OS: 2.16.9.1
I had a similar problem and reflashing the rom using the usb is possible. Don't use a flasing utility, though.
Find a self contained rom upgrade from the FTP. As long as you see USB on the bottom left side of your screen, it should work. After that, reflash with whatever rom you want. Hope it works. Nothing worse than an the feeling you have holding an expensive paper waight.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure what you mean by "self contained rom". In the past, I've used K-JAM_WWE_216901_2169101_020710_ship.zip from the FTP site, and ran the ROMUpdateUtility.exe without any problem. Now, since I cannot make a connection to the computer via USB, I am unable to run ROMUpdateUtility.exe. Is there an alternative "self contained" file I can use that will work in spite of the unknown USB device message?
Thanks in advance...
try to DL this file: RUU_Prodigy_1060701_101_11310_QTEK_WWE_Ship.exe. Its on the FTP. Follow this link:

click on the FTP Root link, navigate here:
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Wizard/Roms/Qtek/ and download the file. Put the phone in bootloader, attach to PC (make sure the phone has USB shown in the bottom left corner, and run the file.
Ignore any references to ActiveSync or any connections period. Just run it all the way through the installation process. When all is done, you can upgrade, down grade, etc using the appropriate method (I use aWizard) Let me know if this helps.

Thanks for your reply. I've tried the course of action that you've suggested, but i cannot get through the installation process because of inadequate connectivity between the phone and my PC. I see the USB in the bottom left hand corner, plug into the PC, and immediately see a USB Unknown device error. I ignore that and try to run the ROM anyways and it fails and I get an Update Error:
"The Update Utility cannot connect to your PDA Phone. Please check that your USB/cradle is connected..."
That's why I think I got to go the SD card route, so anyone with an image file that i can put on my SD card, I really could use the help!
It is NOT a NBF file.
The problem with the 8125 is that if you are somehow not CID unlocked the wrong SD image will actually hurt you more than it helps.
You need to find someone with a Cingular 8125 SD image - I have one for the T-Mobile MDA but not for the Cingular "as-shipped" ROM.

Genesis3,
Thanks for confirming it's not a NBF file. I had previously CID unlocked using awizard and then installed a newer IMATE ROM:
IPL: 2.16
SPL: 2.16
GSM: 02.07.10
OS: 2.16.9.1
I did not install the IMATE Extended ROM or Cingular customizations after upgrading to the IMATE ROM. Do I still need a Cingular 8125 SD image, since i've already upgraded my ROM, or do I now need an IMATE SD image to match my current configuration? Or does the type of image file really not matter?
Thanks in advance!
I really hate to beg, but I am desparately seeking an SD image file backup. I'm going out of town in a couple of days, and would love to have a working wizard for my trip.

HELP.. flashed rom wrong

I forgot to put the DIAMING.nbh file on my diamond! now it just shows up with "Touch Diamond" and then resets! i need help please
is this an easy fix??
Thank you so much!
go to bootloader (vol down + reset) and flash new rom from romupdater in windows
i got to bootloader but it won't read my usb... there is no DIAMING.nhb file (or whatever it is called) on my phone.. is there any application that will let me get the usb to work.. any ideas???
thank you
i can still run the custom RUU, and it runs on my phone as well.. so is there anyway.. or is there already one out there that has the DIAMIMG.nbh with it so that it installs without the need to manually move the file to the phone..
thanks again
Yes it does, if u get into bootloader, connect your phone to PC, you should see written USB in bootloader a then run RUU from windows, it should work. I experienced similar problem and that was my solution
i tried to flash a different rom onto my diamond, and it got 100% done.. but still... i wasn't able to move the DIAMIMG.nbh file to my root... do i need to use a rom that doesn't have a DIAMIMG.nbh file? where would i find one.. if i may ask?
your help is appreciated thank you
UPDATE
ok... so i found, and downloaded 2 RUU roms. one of them got to 90% done, and the other got to 91% done... does anyone know why this is..? these are the official roms, (I think).
i have searched for the past 2 days almost nonstop, i need a rom that will fully install onto my phone. This rom can't have me move the DIAMIMG.nbh file over manually either, because i cannot do this in bootloader mode.
i tried these 2 official roms. _HTC Touch Diamond_QMR_RUU_Diamond_HTC_Europe_1.93.401.2_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.29.25.12_1.00.25.05_Ship.exe
and this one,
RUU_Diamond_HTC_Europe_1.35.401.3_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.26.25.09_0.93.25.26_Ship.exe
do you know where i could download some other roms at? thanks
did you use Hard-SPL? maybe something with spl theres wrong
When flashing from your PC, you don't move an NBH over.
Go to htc.com, support, and download the current rom for your phone.
Soft reset holding volume down
Connect to your PC (DIRECTLY and NOT through a hub)
Run the updater you just downloaded from HTC
ya. i'm using hard-spl..
i tried getting a rom from htc, but i don't think that it's recognizing my s/n.. could i borrow someone elses??
i'm connecting my phone to a USB that's located in the back of my computer... i don't think it's a hub, but i'll try a different port maybe..
thank you again
so here's the full story.
i tried to install a rom.. it was shaks v3. and this was the rom. -> 2.03.401.2
i didn't put the diamimg.nbh file on it before i flashed it.
the RUU ran fine, but afterwards it was stuck just saying "touch diamond" , and it was resetting itself constantly.
i got into bootloader mode, and noticed that i could not transfer files from my computer to phone through that..
so i downloaded a rom that didn't require you to move the .nbh file over manually. it got to 90% , and then stopped i tried another, and it got to 91% and stopped, i tried another, it got to 89% and stopped, and i tried one more that got to 19% and stopped. i have tried using these RUU's on different computer's to install also..
IS there any way to move files using the bootloader mode? i know that the computer recognizes it, but not as a device with removable storage..
I'm starting to lose hope with my phone, and any help will be greatly appreciated
i don't know if it makes a difference, but i got my phone from Sprint.
ok!!! i totally just remembered that roms were made for CDMA users (Sprint verizon vodafone... ME) and GSM users... i was trying to flash a GSM rom onto my phone...
make sure that you know what type of rom to flash.. there are CDMA roms out there.. you just have to search...
thank you Felipe404, for your quick replies, and you made this easier for me.
thanks to JonInAtl for the precise reply...
both of your guy's help made a huge difference, that you don't even know.
WHOA!!!!!!
yea, i did the same thing,.. flashed my gsm diamond with cdma rom, after flash it just showed the bootscreen - Touch Diamond and there it stopped... so i got to the bootloader, connected the device to pc and flashed another rom from computer.. and it did work
no problem mayne
Just to clarify here, the ONLY reason to copy DIAMIMG.nbh to your device is if you do not want to update with the RUU. You can install every ROM using the RUU regardless of who made it.
That said, every time I want to update, I do have to copy it over to my phone as the USB port on it no longer works (it still charges, just says unknown device regardless of the ROM).

Is it bricked? (Upgrade ROM error)

(I'm not 100% sure this is the correct forum, but since it is very ROM related it didn't feel all wrong to put it in here...)
Hi guys. After som serious flashing of cooked ROMs I decided for some unknown reason that I should try to restore a stock ROM. Now, being very tired as I was, i completely forgott that its probably a good idea to flash a new Stock ROM on the unit BEFORE flashing it with a signed SPL....so I just flashed the Signed SPL to the device. That in it self seem to have gone ok, because when I start the unit it say "SPL-1.15.0000". Problem is though that it also says "Upgrade ROM error, please try again"
Now, what should I do? Have tried put both signed and unsigned SPLs on the storage card and started up via the volume down/pwr button thingy, but that does not seem to do anything. I have also tried to attach the unit to a USB port when in tricolor mode ("USB" shows up on the screen) and tried the CustomRUU program. It finds the device and starts to "upgrade" (grey screen on the device with 0%) but then it just doesnt seem to get any further...
As the device was working fine with a custom ROM before I started all this, I suspect that the main problem proably is that I now have a Standard SPL with a cooked ROM, and that they collide sort of. I, as well as the Blackstone, is now stuck and I am all out of ideas what to do? Have also tried Hard and Soft resets, but that doesnt seem to change anything.
Help!
try removing the SD Card and put the phone into bootloader mode and re-flash the stock ROM! if this doesn't work ... still with the SD Card removed try flashing to USPL and flash the stock ROM again!
hope this helps
You can try USPL on your HD and flash a custom or stock ROM with it.

Thanks for the feedback!
Just be be sure, "into bootloader mode" is when you start the device holding down volume down and powerkey until you see the tricolor screen? Then that is probably what I have tried to do for a while now without success (total success that is, I do get into the tricolored screen)). Or maybe I am doing something wrong, could you perhaps point to a detailed explaination besides the one in "HardSPL" thread?
USPL I havnt tried, will do that! Is it still so that trying to do USPL on Vista is asking for trouble?
I read somewhere that Stock ROMs should only be flashed from internal storage, not SD cards, is that true? If so, how do I go about accessing that storage now when it doesnt show up in the file explorer on my PC (PC recognizes it as USB device, "HTC Sync" but I get no file access to it).

bootloader mode is when you power off the device and hold the volume button down and press power till you get the tricolor screen...
so here is what you need to do .
1. remove the sd card
2. go into the tricolor mode connect your device to the pc and make sure it says (USB) at the bottom
3. run the stock shipped exe from you pc
if that didn't work then you should try the USPL version.. and there is a guide if you are using vista.. i just tried and worked fine.. here it is
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3331078&postcount=153
and the reason i'm asking you to remove the sd card because if you have a rom (blacimg.nbh) it won't let you do anything it will try to flash from the sd card and right now you don't want to do that.
and you shouldn't put any rom into the internal storage of the phone..

i don't think anything would happen... the file will get deleted when you flash as the rest of the files in the internal memory
Thank you everyone! The USPL thing solved it, when I did it from a XP machine! The once bricked Blackstone is not alive an kicking again!
About USPL, I saw the workaround for Vista, but downgrading a few components to make it work just doesn't seem like a safe way to do it. And I cant help but to think that it might have unwanted side affects, ie affecting system stability. But maybe I am wrong?
Going back to shipped ROM without bricking?
Hi,
After reading this thread I am now a bit worried and, as a newbie, would appreciate maybe a "simple" answer to my question.
I''ve been experimenting with various cooked ROMs after following the guide in the WIKI for installing HardSPL and then putting the ROM file (BLACKIMG.nbh) on my SD card and installing it using the power on + volume down button method.
However, I now want to revert back to the original "shipped" ROM, which I have downloaded from the list of shipped ROMs via the WIKI (I downloaded the one which closely matched what was originally on my HD - as I didn't know how to backup the actual ROM on my HD at the time).
So, my question:
How should I put the downloaded original/shipped ROM:
RUU_BlackStone_HTC_WWE_1.14.405.3_Radio_52.49a.25.26_1.09.25.14_Ship.exe
into my HD without bricking it?! Do I just run it on my PC with ActiveSync enabled or do I need to do something to remove the HardSPL or something first?
Sorry if this has been answered previously but I get confused when a thread just makes loads of references to SPLthis and SPLthat etc.!
if you have the HardSPL already installed on your phone then you don't need to do anything more.. just connect your phone to the pc and let it sync (activesync enabled) and flash to any shipped rom you want by simply running the exe file..

I've got a HTC Touch HD from Telstra, been using it for a long time. Recently the USB has stopped working correctly. I can charge it fine but can't get it to connection in Activesync mode or as USB Storage.
I have ruled it to be the phone:
Tried two PCs, even the PS3 doesn't detect anything is connected (Just shows phone is charging)
Tried XP, Vista and Windows 7 (fresh installed).
I have hard reset the phone many times.
It is under warranty, I have flashed Dutty's Extreme rom onto it and want to simply put a stock rom on it (preferrably Telstra) so I can send it away - or see if that fixes it.
I can't install any unsigned roms as I need USPL (via USB), I can't install signed roms as if I put them on there I get '00028002 Not Allow'
Where can I got next? I can still put BLACIMG.bbh files on the storage card but can't get any to flash.
It has SPL 1.54 and Radio 1.14.25.24.
I really want to flash it with: Duttys HD WM6.5 R7.
Thanks.

Previously you could flash cooked roms, but now you are unable to flash any, correct?
When in bootloader does it still change from 'serial' to 'usb'? Have you tried another usb cable?
Yes I could flash cooked roms, only by using USPL.
In bootloader when I have the cable plugged in it is blank where it should say USB, I take it out and it says 'Serial'
I have also tried the cable from my old Touch Diamond (which both cables work fine with the Diamond).

What happens when you try and run either USPL or HSPL?
On the computer? It can't detect USB. Both computers don't even get to the stage where it installs drivers.
The PS3 would even say 'Unknown USB Device Connection' but it doesn't. I just get power through USB to charge it, that is it.
Is there a rom I can flash to my phone via the storage card in the state it is in?

Unfortunately you cannot flash through storage card unless you have USPL on device.
Sad face. lol.
Can I get USPL or HSPL on through the Storage card... wishful thinking here.
Can I send it to HTC and pay for it to be repaired? Will they even touch it being a modified phone? Maybe I'll just send it through Telstra and see what happens.

USPL & HSPL both require usb to be installed and cannot be installed through SD card as phone needs to be in bootloader.
You could send phone to be repaired but I'm sure the cost would be high and going down warranty route wouldn't work either as you've voided warranty already by using cooked rom.
Have you followed correct guide for installing drivers?
maybe it's something as silly as "Enable Faster Data Transfer" under USB to PC settings :/ just had problems connecting mine until i unticked it, even though i never turned it on or off, seems to work sometimes, other times not :/

Here is your only choice though.
After upgrading to new ROM, try it again whether it can connect to pc or not?
Connect your SD card to PC through microSD card. Copy all files from your SDcard to new folder in your PC. Then, right click on the microSDcard disk-->full Format by FAT32 (this step is very important).
After formatting SDcard, copy back all files to SDcard . Rename .nbh to BLACIMG.nbh (for Blacktone) and copy it to SDcard.
Insert your SDcard back to Touch HD. Turn off your device by Power button.
Go to Boot loader mode. Push and hold Vol. Down + press Power button.
After that your device with have a white screen with text " Press to power button for continue upgrade" press power button and it will start upgrade Rom.
You can check this video for more practical actions on youtube.(this video for HTC diamond2 but it's almost the same with Blacktone just different in rename step)
Hope it helps and cheer
But that's the thing I can't get any rom to work through the BLACIMg.nbh storage method
I think I'm either going to have to stick with the current rom, have no usb transfer.
Or pay up to repair it
EDIT: I already tried the "Enable Faster Data Transfer" and that didn't help Thanks.

Where is your MicroSD card ? Connect your SD card to your PC via MicroSD card.
Right,
you don't need anything installed on your phone to run uspl.
Put blacimg.nbh on your sd card with a card reader.
Now with the card still unplugged put your phone into bootloader mode.
Now connect it to your computer, does serial change to usb??
Now insert your storage card.
Now run crackwhores USPL GUI and fingers crossed it should start flashing.
If that doesn't work let us know!
Also, what cable are you using, the one that came with the phone or a normal usb one??
Cheers,
Jake
No usb connection
So if i don´t get the usb connection in tri-color mode i´m in big trouble right?
I got the same problem
Mine is only saying serial on three diffrent computors... this is not good, i went to buy my self a new phone.
If i were you i would try 2 things.
There was a temporary spl which you would run from inside the OS and then that would give you access to either uspl or hspl.
If that wouldnt work, i would buy a usb replacement kit from ebay and install it myself tbh.
In the same situation
I too, tried everything under the sun for my Telstra HD but cannot get the USB connection to work before. Here's my short thread. I'm pretty sure there isn't anything that can be done flashing wise through the SD card because of our SPL 1.54.0000.
After a week of stuck in this situation I was going to take my phone to a shop and have the usb port replaced. I'm sure it will cost an arm.
In terms of replacing the port myself, has anyone tried? Is it tough to do? I thought soldering skills were involved.

Once you open up device warranty is voided permanently. If you paid for a replacement usb port and something else happened you could still return under warranty, but once opened option of warranty is forever closed!
As of now, its the only route because the lack of original spl has already voided my warrenty... =(
Ha. Today must be my lucky day!
I was a breath away from spending $75 to have my HD ripped apart to replace the usb port yesterday. But all of a sudden the port once again works and is recognized in bootloader mode.
All I did was hard reset once, used as normal, and plugged in via usb to charge with power on (just to see if it might work this 187429th time) and the usb menu (activesync, disk drive...) came up. I retried. It didn't work (just as I thought). Went to bootloader and it also didn't work. Restarted, usb menu was up again. Rebooted bootloader a few times and suddenly usb came on.
I will proceed to flash hspl 1.56 immediately.
To the dudes that still can't connect: DON'T GIVE UP YET, KEEP TRYING!

SE Updater failed to install new rom, what is the best thing to do now?

Hello,
I know you guys got some excellent walkthroughs, roms, programs and threads where you've helped a lot of people out but I could really use some personal feedback. I had hoped to fix my phone using one of the excisting threads but unfortunalty I can't get it to work with those.
My problem is one I've seen more of in here, I used the SE updater and it froze at 53%, I did what the program said, reconnected and it froze again at 12%, and again, again, etc. So I disconnected thinking it might be a bad USB port. But then the updater didn't recognise my phone at all. So I used the mtty program suggested in some of the threads and I got past the red/green/blue screen but now it's stuck at the Sony Ericson logo, as if WM6.1 is gone.
This is what the red/green/blue screen currently states:
KOV110
SPL-0.78.0000
MicroP1-787
MicroP2-707
From what I gather this means I can't flash roms, right? I tried making it a hard-spl but when I use the tool it says it can't connect.
So is there anyway to get a rom on it and bring it back to life?
Thanks inadvance!
Get an original rom from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475482
copy .nbh file from the package onto your sd card and rename it to : Kovsimg.nbh then bring phone into boot loader via : vol down + power.
It should flash the rom now. i the problem is still present after that you
have to deal with mTTy but first try the flash...
i think you could also bring phone into bootloader without sd card inserted then connect usb cable, display should now print 'USB',and after that start rom update utility.
regards

Thank you for your reply, I will do as you said although I've already tried something similiar to this. I believe the problem was that I couldn't flash roms from my SD since I don't have the hard SLD. But I will try it anyway as soon as I get home.
In the mean time I would love to hear more ideas about how to fix my phone.

You really need have to flash the HardSPL first as, based in your above post, you still have not done that. It will be useless to flash cooked ROM with that. If you can still power on your phone and you have an activesynch in your computer, i suggest you download the HardSPL first and update your phone using your PC. If you are successful doing that, then you can flash all you want.
original roms will still work with original spl... but nevermind =P

My phone can still power on in the sense that it shows the Sony Ericson logo or that I can access the three collor screen. But it won't launch WM6.1. I also have a problem with updating to hard DSL. It does recognise my phone because without it connected the program finds nothing and with the phone connected it wants to start updating. It says ''updating from image version: (emply) to image version: 1.00.X1 Ipress next and it opens a progress bar on both my X1 and the PC. But it never goes beyond 0% and then gives me an connection error. I think it has something to do with not being able to get passed the Sony Ericson logo. I mean the hard-DSL program does recognise my mobile but activeSync is never active because my PC doesn't recognise a WinMobile phone (since it wont go past the Sony Ericson screen)

Really? That might fix my device then. Could you suggest a rom from the long list? Perhaps one that works on all versions? Because I'm dutch but my mobile has always been in english so I'm not sure what rom version I had. Except that it was identified as an R2 Rom by the Sony updater before it killed my X1...
Go here
Find the latest stock rom for your country (and perhaps your carrier) and flash it
No need to have Hard SPL for that

I'm now downloading the initial dutch R1 firmwire, could that one work?

Alright so I got an R1 original rom (I now realize that the R3's were originals aswell) and it worked! I'm not sure if it was the different rom or the formatting with FAT32 that did but it works again. So I'd like to thank everyone who was kind enough to reply.
The device is incredibly slow now but now I can use the hard-DSL installer, right? DOes anyone have a suggestion for a good rom to use?

DON'T hard-spl if you're going to flash a stock ROM. And especially if you're going to use SEUS.
Try flashing the R3A first. The R1s are way slow, as you've seen.
