I am using drizzys hero rom 1.4r1 and I'm getting the error message "Sorry, Shazam is currently offline" when I try to tag a song. I've tried it on EDGE, GPRS, and 3G and I get the same message each time. Shazam has worked on my phone before but I don't know if I've ever used it on this particular ROM.
meee tooo i have cyanogenmod 4.1.1.1 or watever it is, and it started yesterday as well, anyone know wats going on?
Any updates on this? I'm using it on my G1 with SenseHero, but i've noticed this for a while.
I'm running Cyanogen and it's running just fine, try reinstalling it, I don't know how that would help, but it wouldn't hurt to try
I had that once, it wouldn't work for a day or more. I didn't do anything in particular, it just resolved itself. Reinstalling the app is always worth a try.
I'll try reinstalling it.. thanks guys. I notice both of you are running Cy's ROM. I hope it's not because I'm running a Sense/Hero ROM, which coincides with when I started noticing it wasn't working. I don't foresee going back to a Cupcake/Donut ROM anytime soon.

I figured out what is wrong. If you notice on your Hero ROM sound recording does not work. Well Shazam uses that feature of the phone so if you fix the sound recording issue then Shazam will work. The Hero rom I'm using now (see sig) has the sound recording fixed and shazam works.
You were right! When SenseHero was updated to fix the audio problems, Shazam started working fine...
Thanks!

I think this will sound silly, but it worked on my device. And its not related to Sapphire, I am going to post my finding in this thread since this is the only proper search result when I googled the issue.
I was using MoreLocale in order to have the keyboard in my native language. When I set the language back to English Shazam worked (Don't ask me how I discovered it). I also tried another language i don't remember, that time Shazam said it couldn't send the tag.
This might be irrelevant but, I'm using MCR 3.0 on HTC Hero and I couldn't get Wavesecure to work as well. Following the factory reset, Wavesecure worked too. I highly suspect that that was also due to my locale settings.
Hope this helps.

getting a lock is a minor problem compared to MAINTAINING an accurate lock, does this fix address that issue or just the lock on time?
Well I gave this a shot, and now the GPS doesn't seem to function at all. The market tool GPS TEST, Navigation, Latitude, and the built in GPS testing tools (from the phone menu *#*#1472365*#*#) all hang requiring a force close.
But this is really no worse than the largely non-functional GPS I had in the first place so I'm not bothered.
UPDATE: Using "Fix Permissions" from Rom Manager fixed the FC's.....will be testing GPS now to see if it's any better.
UPDATE#2: Taking my daughters back to my ex-wife (oh the joys of divorce) I ran Navigation during the trip, letting my oldest daughter drive so I could pay attention to the accuracy. It took a good while (about a minute) to get a proper GPS fix, but once it did it remained accurate during the entire trip except for one instance where it bounced a few hundred yards off the route for a couple of seconds. This is a marked improvement over my previous experiences where it would bounce off route like that numerous times during a Navigation run.
So...better...but still a bit less accurate than I'm used to with other Android devices.
Italics you say. Nice I'll give that a try next time.
Sent using xda app...
Tried it. Got a fix in about 5 seconds indoors and pretty accurate. The compass is still all over the place. But as for accuracy it helped a lot thanks eugene.

I changed mine to ms-based and it works well. In certain buildings, however, it cannot get a lock on any satellites even when it detects as many as 10.
A weird thing that started recently is that in lbdtestmode, when running a position test, it takes forever to get a lock or sometimes to even find satellites. However, if I open google maps, it proceeds to quickly lock my position with 10m accuracy. Then if I run a posistion test it finds a 8-12 satellites and locks on quickly.
What is weird is that it used to be the opposite: I would have to get a lock in posistion test before google maps would get a lock. May also just be a coincidence or a placebo effect.
thats becuase google maps uses network to get intial fix.. change it to ms assisted not ms based which does the same thing
Thank you for the post Eugene, my gps is actually functional now, locked on very fast and is accurate. Donate link?

I posted the Files! Just Diff them.. It's not that hard honestly
Thanks for the patch eugene373 but unfortunately it seems to do nothing for my GPS. Still takes forever for sats to get into view and never locks in to more than 1.
Unfortunately this didn't work for me at all. I even re flashed to stock then applied the gps fix and for me the gps was worse then any other thing I have tried. I never got a satellite lock, used to at least get 1 and it put me at times on the other side of the street, the accuracy decreased greatly
Recently I've flashed CM 10.1.3 (stable version). Everything is pretty much great (except battery...it's draining pretty fast but I'm ok with that since I got a portable charger).
But the number one thing that is annoying me the most is that I can't get a gps fix no matter what. It doesn't matter whether I'm indoors or outdoors, or what app I'm using (waze, Google maps, etc.), or what "gps fixing" apps I installed. I just can't get a freaking gps lock anywhere!
Before I flashed this ROM, the gps didn't really work well but at least it worked...
I've searched the entire world wide web (obviously started from XDA) and found some interesting answers but none of them helped me even a bit.
Is this a known issue in cm 10.1.3 or is it just me?
thanks in advance

This looks promising... I will report back if it worked for me or not, as soon as I get off work.
thank you to all of you guys for answering!!
Ok so I've tried modifying the gps.conf like deepmanu suggested, but still couldn't get a gps fix at all.
I know that LG screwed up with the gps in this device and that it is so sensitive that even if I replace the ROM
(I don't think that the CM team played with the gps files), it won't work at all.
Has anyone experienced this and found a solution? because right now the only solution that I'm think about is getting a nexus 5 or something =\

I managed to get my GPS working better by tweaking the gps.conf file, but nothing wonderful. If I am sat in my car I get almost no signal, yet my Nexus 7 is high-quality, 13 sats and almost instant lock. The GPS chip/receiver is crap in our device and that is why I will never buy an LG again. Apart from the GPS I love my phone, but that is too important a part for me.

Thought about it, but changing the baseband to a lower version means to compromise on lower quality phone calls and these kind of stuff.
And I'd rather have a terrible gps signal with great phone calls quality, than the other way around.

Maybe it's not the best chip, but still good enough. Samsung Galaxy S2-series phones all have a way worse receiver, I was barely getting any signal without network.
Problem with custom roms is that nearly all of them only include the very basic necessary configuration. See CM gps.conf and stock gps.conf (included in Omni), there's a big difference. I don't say this switch did wonders (it wasn't bad at all before too), but surely stabilizes signal.

You can't. To connect to an External GPS source is an immediate violation of the Ingress ToS and the app will refuse to launch. This is to assist, at least partly, in stopping players from spoofing their location to cheat.
So, you can connect to an external GPS source, but you can't play Ingress while doing so.

The best thing I have found is to make sure you fully close the Ingress app (Sign out and clear it from memory) when you get to the new location, then restart it and see if it works - that sometimes seems to force the app to acquire a GPS location quicker. Other than that, buy a different phone - not ideal I know.

Hi im having problem with gps it freezes and sometimes it just looses track of where i am and thinks my car on another street.i tried google maps and tomtom both do that.I tried pure nexus and cataclysm rom and this happens also.
I'm having the same issue. Hopefully someone figures this problem out, and passes the solution to us.

Without a logcat of the issue there is almost no way to fix it. Many things can effect the gps. Some you can do something about and some you cant. Its not always the device/rom that has an issue.
Has anyone been able to figure out how to go about fixing the internet lag that Marshmallow brought? Any app that uses internet seems to lag for a long time before actually beginning to load, including web pages, play store downloads, etc. I haven't been able to figure out yet how to correct that.

no internet lag here at all, on marshmallow. actually, any lag that youre having would most likely be because of your provider, and not because of marshmallow. is your apn correct?
same here. .no internet lag..
I experience the same lag, especially on the two apps he mentions. Strange because I don't see that on any of my PC's, laptops or internet TV's so I don't think it's a provider issue. I have checked my APN's and they are correctly set. It's not horrible with the browser, a five second delay before loading but sometimes the play store has to be stopped and restarted (or turn off wifi) to connect.

Same issue then! And Simms, I believe my apn is correct, it does this for me on WiFi too and same as said here in this quoted post, I don't experience this issue on any of my other devices in the house, just my Nexus! Not sure exactly what it may be. And yea, it's like a 5 second delay, but I remember how fast it used to be on lollipop, and that's a drag! Lol
No issue here either.

odd then. maybe its because of your "set up"? if you have twrp recovery, would you make a backup then try a factory reset. see if it happens from the beginning or not. you can restore your back up after.
same issue and im bone stock, If I have some time i will be trying a few different ROMs over the few days until I find "the one" so I will report back my findings. I'm on tmo and have the issue whether im on wifi, lte, H+, or H.

I have tried this and even in 100% stock. Unlocked bootloader still and same lag. Kind of seems like only Marshmallow brought this, possible in the radio file it comes with. I'm stumped about why. I'm running newest cataclysm with multirom and cm 13 on secondary. Using newest elite kernel. Multirom TWRP is my recovery. Also, it is safe to install Lollipop radio and use with Marshamllow? Can you mix radios like that? I may try that next if possible!
I don't know if this is an issue with me or chrome app. I'm on tmobile and sometimes it lags on wifi as well. Haven't tried a different browser.

Now I wonder if this is only affecting people on T-Mobile, as I am also on T-Mobile. Could it be the WiFi calling feature? I have this on because the service at my house is awful! Could be the culpit!

The wifi calling is not on in Chroma and it does not seem to have any of the issues I was experiencing on stock so (by deductive reasoning) I am blaming the wifi calling... but why?

It could very well be the WiFi calling then! Which sucks because I pretty much rely on that at home, service is bad here. I wonder when that will be fixed!
Search Google for marshmallow data stalls. It's a very weird bug, turning your screen on and off is the only thing that helps.
I Flashed a cm13 rom and it is gone for me now. Maybe try that and see if it works for you? You could always nandroid anyways if it didn't fix it.

I have CM13 installed as a secondary rom using multirom, but haven't used it enough to really test that! I'll look into that! And so it's a known bug then, seems like some have this issue and some don't, which I find weird!

i just purchased a nexus 6 and installed marsh. i am also on TMOUS and i get slow loads on browsers and social media apps. Instagram and Facebook as well as with both Chrome and Dolphin when accesssing any webpage. ive been toggling with the APN and surprisingly turning the screen off then on shows minimal success. Page loading reminds me of when i had Nextel running 2G service; its that slow or times out.
However i do not get this on Wifi.
I had an issue similar myself. Speed via speed test were crazy slow too, even when in LTE. My fix was very simple though. I flash the factory image from Google and booted first time. Then factory data reset and flashed radio before booting, suddenly all was working again. However my issue wasn't app related but rather system wide, also WiFi was just fine. I've read somewhere that certain providers limit speeds when phone looks like it is a PC to prevent people from tethering. APNS would normally solve this issue.
If I recall correctly it was from "Sprint" and all providers using their bands.
