Hey,
I was wondering if HTC app People can be used e.g. in CM7 ROM. I noticed several times that the answer was "no" in the forum. But, is there possibility to backup it in Sense ROM with Titanium and then restore it on CM7 ROM?
Thanks
EDIT: I managed to backup News & Weather app from Sense and then restore it on CM7 and it works! but I do not have People app to try it out and I very miss this great app.
I am exploring installing a Sense rom just to get this!
No.
The Sense apps and widgets rely on the Sense framework to run. No Sense framework, no Sense apps and widgets.
Sense is HTCs proprietary addon, which means it isn't open source, so the code isn't released, which means it's almost impossible to extract parts of it for use in other ROMs...

Has anyone even tried? Well, I am asking because I backed up News and Weather app which is HTC app from Sense and now I am running it on CM7 after restoring it. And I thought that this is also Sense app relyling on Sense framework. But I do not have TB backup of People anymore so I can't try.
Have you ever had a chance to give this a try? I may have to reflash a Z rom and try it... It would be great if it did. I really am not a big fan of the contact list in CM7, it is the one thing that is close to pushing me back to the Z ROMs.
Well if you gave it a try and it didnt work please post your results. If not, I may try to get some time this weekend to try it and will let people here know.
Thanks,
SoBBie
News & Weather isn't Sense app, and never was. It's Google app, and that's why it runs on CM7. Sense has News Widget and Weather Widget, and 2 separate apps for them.

Sorry if this has been answered already, but which apps can be pulled from the sense Rom and work with cyanogen? I already have the camera, calculator and keyboard and wild like to try out any other apps that are framework independent.
Thanks in advance.
Teeter works.
Teeter does not work

Teeter works
I believe there is a modified apk for the desire's camera. Look in nexus one android development.

teeter does, been playing it today
would like that friend thing widget, obviously the clock/weather (and animations) ?, and ofcourse the background!
The sense live wallpaper has been posted here already, it's like 5 megs though (eek).
I like the sense UI for some reason, just wondering if theres anything new about it coming out soon. Or is it dead now?
Any sense rom will be the same except for maybe a theme being incorporated and apps being added or removed. The froyo sense rom has a couple of extra not found in 2.1, but IMHO cm6 runs much better than sense. I use to love sense roms but for the last 6 months have been on cm6. I do like the HTC keyboard and some other things, but my performance now is a lot better without sense.

Probably not. The developers feel that sense slows down the performance of the device, which it does. So mostly all devs avoid sense at all. Though there are roms with partial sense, like menus, but no there isn't a full blown sense rom. Sorry.

Do any of you guys know of a
"2.2" Rom that has some of the same "Themed" Sense Widgets?
Such as... Music, Bookmarks, and maybe even the Lockscreen? That's Basically the Only thing keeping me Away from all the Non-Sense Roms, if anyone has a Suggestion Post it Please!!

Could someone port this mod to aria?

I'm not sure I understand.
These notification menu widgets are included by default in the Cyanogen ROMS and can easily be added in other ROMS or stock ROMS using a free app from the Marketplace called Widgetsoid 2.x.
Or did I miss something really obvious?
This is just a hack...you should download it and flash it to see if it works...but first (as always) do a Nandroid backup of your current ROM. This hack doesn't seem to be included in any ROMs
No you are not missing anything. Widgets 2.x is nice but a wee bit hefty. The developer is planning to incorporate the kitchen sink on the next release

Evo frameres, services apks and jars are not compatible with arias even though most files are same, metrics and hdpi vs mdpi difference SHOULD produce a broken system. Not doing that.

Just wondering is it possible to use custom notification bars, dialers, and keyboard themes without flashing a new rom? I found some notification bars and dialers Id like to use from the Magnolia rom yet keep my HTC Sense. I dont use any launchers or anything. I prefer HTC Sense over the others.
I am rooted and I do run the HeyItsLou Kernel v8
You can use metamorph or ninjamorph, free from the market, to apply the images.
Or you can create an update zip containing the apk's and flash them in recovery.
I tried Metamorph, but nothing happened.
If you are running a deodexed 2.2 or 2.3 ROM you can use the Kitchen.

Im running the stock HTC rom with the HeyItsLou v8 Kernel.

Somewhere in there I found some cool skins for HTC SENSE. This will only change a few things though. Not dialer and keyboards.
But themed Keys are easy to find. I'm sure you know all this, but I'm just trying to participate.

Forgot to say that no ROOT is required

Do you have HTC HUB? And is it HTC SENSE 2.0?
I haven't had any problems installing them, but I'll try to help as much a possible.
Install just like a normal THIRD PARTY .APK

Not familiar with HTC Hub. Not even sure what version of HTC Sense I have. I dont know how to check for versions.
Me either (dont know how to check sense version.)
But there are some signs. When you press personalize, does a path drawer come up and have Skins, Wallpaper, Scenes, Widgets, Apps, Shortcuts, Folders, etc..?
If it just has the last four mentioned when you tap and hold your home screen, then you don't have HTC SENSE 2.0

When I hit personalize I get scenes, home wallpaper, and default ring tone. Im almost positive I have Sense v1.
So how can I get these things to work with Metamorph? I have all the files downloaded and ready to go.
I'm not sure, because I never needed or wanted to use MetaMORPH.
Can you post a screenie of your Home and Personalize menu?
And what phone do you have? I'm sure you just unpack the zip in MetaMORPH.
I don't know much about it.

I have the HTC Incredible through Verizon.
Okay. So now we know your stock ROM was Sense 1.0, what Sense Rom do you have now?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Oh, and a really nice ROM for DInc w/ Sense 2.0 is Myns Warm Z twopointtwo. You can change the skins to the ones you have downloaded.
By far my Favorite ROM for DInc when I had mine two days ago. Lol.

The stock HTC sense rom. I havent flashed any custom roms. I like the default one from HTC. I just want to change some minor things. I have a dialer picked out. I want to get rid of the verizon branding in my notification bar, and I want to change the battery icon and thats it.
Okay then you have to use metamorph. I'm pretty sure there's a tutorial somewhere around here. On the Myns Warm thread, there's a video tutorial on using MetaMORPH to change keyboards. I'm positive it works the same for battery and dialer.

After some researching I think my issue is with the amount of space in the /system folder. Only issue is I cant see that folder with Adao File Manager.

First of all - I don't own the One (I have an HTC DNA) but I figured here would be the better place to post it since more people who could answer could see it. I am a complete stranger to this forum section, so if I do something that the people here in this forum are against, I apologize. Also, I'm not sure if this belongs here or in Q&A, so moderators please move if in wrong place.
Now to the actual question,
Is there such a thing as a Sense 5 based launcher that is more customizable? The features I am wanting is things like disabling widget padding, disabling margins, overlapping widgets, and changing app icons/labels. If you don't understand what I am saying, I'll use an anolagy. Apex/Nova is to AOSP launcher, as what I'm asking about is to Sense 5.
All answers are greatly appreciated.

No. But viper Rom lets you customize the stock sense launcher more than HTC intended.

Does viper let u change the task launcher into something other than the sense launcher? I hate the card style task launcher and I am looking for something like the S4. Is there something like that our there? Thanks.

But can you use those modifications on another ROM? I'm interested it Elliptic ROM for my DNA (which was ported from the One, so you may be familiar with it), and I want to know if there is a way to use these Viper features on the DNA.

There are several mods (at least for the DNA) that do this. I am sure there are some for the One.

Do you mean the app switcher? Viper and several other ROMs have an option for the AOSP app switcher.

Could you just pull the prism.apk from the viper launcher? I'm actually curious to know if doing that would work to get the viper sense 5 settings in another ROM, say ARHD for instance..
