Guerrilla Bob - Nook Color General

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.angrymobgames.guerrillabob
Anyone tried this yet? Looks great! Just wondering how it performs on the Nook Color.

I cant believe this game runs so smooth and uses the high def graphics at a smooth frame rate. Extreemly reccommended to buy this, it really shows the power of our 200$/250$ device, and u can play online with android/iPhone

Grrrrr, doesn't show in the market. Does anyone know how to make it show?

I "found" it and give a try on firt level. Run very smooth on nookie froyo.

I found the apk but it would not install under 2.1 eclair and it's supposed to be compatible. Anyone know how to get it to install or why it does not?
Thx

how to make my game run smooth?

I have a game "Peggle" that is very choppy. Just wondering if it is possible that someone would like the project of trying to get this game to play smooth on the Raphael?
I've tried everything I could find on XDA for performance tweaks, and still choppy. Even some of the drivers. Or, just let me know if there is something else, I could try. Thanks.
Not sure if it will help, but you can give this a shot:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=509704
I got this driver from a story posted on Fuze Mobility, and it actually made a noticable difference. Granted, PocketSNES is the most intensive application I use, but atleast it runs a lot smoother.

Best rom for playing games?

Hi,
I'm kind of dissatisfied with the speed of most popular custom roms when it comes to playing games.
Which rom do you use to play games using nes/snes emulators? Hopefully any of the 2.1 roms
Thanks,
Krystian
ps
I know this question falls between roms and games category, but since this is not dev question I decided to put it in here.
I have to agree with you. I use both Snesoid and Gameboid and at regular points games start to slow down.
I think it's a case of having to wait for better versions of the emulators since they're still pretty early in their development.
Either that, or wait until an official 2.1 HTC rom before we expect decent performance.
To be honest with you, I doubt this is emulators fault.
I was able to play with nesoid and play metal slug without any hiccups.
Now few seconds after the mission is on they start.
It definitely is rom "fault". There are speedier and slower roms out there.
Currently I am using Villain Rom 5.1, which seems to be a brilliant rom [it is so fast when it comes to htc sense it's unbelievable] and the slowdowns are far better than in MoDaCo 3.1 [which is great btw], however it still is far from perfect.
I might try to overclock the cpu and see how it goes.
I'm sure I read that overclocking the CPU won't work on the current roms. You can underclock when the screen is turned off for power saving.
However until the official 2.1 rom comes out from HTC we won't be able to overclock over the stock CPU clock.
For 3D games, go Legendroid 1.0.1
In my tests, it blows away any other ROM.
Thanks!

psx4droid

just heard about it and am rather excited. has anyone tested it on the g1? is it even playable?
yes i installed psx4droid on Cm6 on G1 i tested crash bandicoot and it works but exstremly slow, sound is also very poor
but its G1 so what do you expect.
thoughts awesome havent tested any other games yet im thinking if i disable comp cache and enable swapper on my swap partition then it may be faster...??
oh yh i have the same phone with cy6 and amon ra with death spl
in step by step detail can someone please explain the process of getting the rom to work. i tried a file from doperoms and when i putin the correct bios and clicked on the twisted metal zip it open another folder and said there was nothing in the folder. can you please guide me in this. i been so fustrated tryna figure this outfor a while now lol any help is appreciated
Don't download off dope roms unless you know how to convert their psx roms to .ISO or .BIN. I use emu paradise forums as long as the roms are in those two formats you should be fine the only problem is even with swapper or linux swap you cant get enough memory for the games. They seem to run incredably slow and it makes it unplayable unless someone can get the linux swap only to work for psx4droid so it only gives that program the memory it needs then maybe it'll play like the moto droid does with psx4droid. Anyway good luck with getting it run well.
If any progress in getting this to run smooth on G1 PM me
Sad to say it but psx4droid is just a novelty on the G1. Ive tried tekken on down to a 2d game like Suikoden. It makes no difference wat you do. Even overclocked to 700 sumtin mhz with set cpu you only can get around 5 fps.
I got it running a lil faster than 5fps I'm not sure but I keep it at default. And also I disable the sound it gives it a boost. But I will do a video on youtube tonight or tomorrow. Jus search my username androidappman and you will see the video it won't be hard to find.

ok no prooblem im up and have one more ciggerette for the night lol so ill post it but im taking back what i said on it moving faster than about 5fps but again it could have been the game cause i had chosen silent hill but i heard ace combat was pretty smooth running as well as crash bandicoot but my issue is i wanna start a dropbox like sysytem to load all the converted games for others to have easy access to. but im a do the video about basically how to convert the game into the proper file type and do so in detail. so look out for me in the morning. p.s anyone get wit me on a site like dropbox so i can sign up and start uploading away with you all.
I also have CM6, and I tried this emulator out. Extremely slow, but seems to work. Needs a lot of optimizations, as I'm sure that the G1 can certainly emulate PSX full speed. How I know this? Cause I could on my Kaiser, with FPSCE. I was able to play Megaman 8 with sound with minimal slow down. Then again, I had to use Windows Mobile for FPSCE.
Considering the difference between the G1 and Kaiser CPU's are 128 Mhz, I really doubt it couldn't be done on the G1. Would like to also mention, on the Kaiser the 3D acceleration wasn't working either. So FPSCE had no help from the GPU.
My guess is that PSX4DROID uses the FPU that you'll find in many modern Android phones, but older phones like the G1 don't have one. They could probably optimize it to run at full speed on phones like the G1, but they would rather recommend getting a newer phone. Even though most PSX emulators for the PC requires a minimum of a 200 MHz chip, and our phones have a 528 Mhz chip.
Really wish more emulator developers would develop on the Android. As it is, it seems like Android only has one person working on emulators for the Android.

Psx4droid

So I got the psx emulator even though the slide probably isn't the best device to be running the app on. Tried a few of my fave games and the larger roms (like GT2) are slightly laggier then the smaller ones (like Spyro 2). This is probably normal due to size.
I know this is the first release so its not a well pollished app but how much better do you folks think its going to get for us slide users? And is this the same experience the rest of you are having?
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
took the app from 4shared.com amd game won't load. buying it tommorow tho, but it shouldnt run horrid thinking it might run smooth actually, not a fan of how you have to get the roms but hey it ps1 on the go right?
Update: Looks like my Bios was the issue, but works fine now. Games are pretty laggy tried overclocking but not sure it worked out to well, need to try something else. only tried spyro playable but not normal game play like you'd want. Wish we had hummingbird in this! *drools over keyboard* If FF7-9 work good enough for me then. but maybe in the future once its more polished it could become better but playing fighter games or very actiony games maybe not "amazing". Price you must pay for owning a mid-range device.
the games are wayyyy too laggy for slide imho. i just stick with the good ol snes emulator.
I think its the emulator that needs some work because I have heard it runs crappy on the Evo too, but for a work in progress you have to admit that its pretty impressive to be able to load a PSX game onto your phone. I have tried a bunch of different ROMs and so far the only one that is playable is Resident Evil Directors Cut.
I just downloaded this, but I'm enjoying it. It's laggy, but I think the fact that it's even possible is amazing.
I've been watching the psx4droid wiki(can't post a link yet) and another forum. Just checking out to see people's experiences with certain games. I think most of the people that are sharing on the wiki have a bit more mhz than us, but it kind of gives me an idea which games will be ok to run.
I've got FF7 right now and it's definitely laggy, but playable. Sound a bit on the staticy side. Downloading Breath of Fire III, Xenogears and Resident Evil 2.
I'm reading the Resident Evils should be better since a lot of the graphics are pre-rendered and mainly the characters and npcs are 3D.
Running stock, btw. Holding out for 2.2 before determine if I'm going to root.
Also, Hello!

Unfortunately RE2 runs too slow but RE Directors Cut runs well enough to play and the sound isnt terrible. So far thats the best I can find, well Tetris Plus runs fine but there are better Tetris games you can play in the market.

Ah crud. Well I'll probably be trying more things to see what is great. I wasn't really too excited about RE2 anyways. I never really had a PSX, so I didn't play a lot of these games. Of course I could just do it on the PC now, but... well, I do enjoy the slide.
About halfway through disk one of Final Fantasy 7. The game runs perfect on Fenix 1.8 OCed to 844mhz. Zero lag. The only issue is the sound but I usually play it in public places anyway so it's not a deal breaker for me. Even bust out the WiiRemote for a controller sometimes at home

[Q] Wow! A few questions

First of all, I'm very impressed with the work that's been going on. THIS is what excites me about Android, when a group of people get together and do something fun and helpful. I've been strongly considering buying a Nook Color to make it a cheap tablet but I have some questions:
Is it smooth? I've seen a few videos and it seems that most of the time it runs smoother than I would have expected, but I've seen some others that are choppy.
How's the battery life?
Can it play SNES, NES, GB games?
That's about it! Thanks guys!
One more: if I get, say, an 8GB card, will I be able to use it to store music or video on it, or is it solely reserved for the OS?

Battery life. For me 7 hours. Might be more different if you only use it for music and browsing.
Games. YES. I have all the way from GB, SNES, NES to PS1 and N64 games. All with emulators from the Market.
Smoothness. Have 5 or less apps running at once. use 2.1, 2.2 or Cm7( No video on CM7). Honeycomb is not ready yet. If you want to overclock it. go ahead. I didn't. Its smooth enough for me.
8gb card- Use it for media. and dont run your OS from the SD card. if you want to install another os use the EMMC. Also the NC already has 5gb's onboard
And please install a different launcher. The stock one is just pathetically slow. I suggest ADWLauncher or Launcher Pro
^ Thanks! Looks like I'm canceling my 3DS order, and getting a Nook Color
