Hello there ;
I have some problems with my HTC HD7 and i wish i can find a hand here
1- Bluetooth problem :
I can't receive any thing from any Bluetooth enabled Device or computer
it always says NOT SUPPORTED
Besides there is no option to send any thing from the phone
2- #hash numbers#
I can't call any hash numbers (services numbers) which is used from many purposes like knowing my credit , enabling roaming and so on.
ie: *#555# is for knowing the credit
3- Location
is not working with me and i need Google maps which is world wide, How can i get it ?
4- Other Browsers
I need other browser than IE coz i hate this Browser
5- Contacts management
- If i want to delete 90 contacts ,shall i delete them one by one ? "Mass management" .
- If i want to see the Contacts in the SIM card without copying them to the phone memory , How can i do this ?
- Some of my friends have more than one mobile phone, so i need to add these mobile phones to their contact card without adding it as a home phone or the office phone, because adding it as a home or office phone doesn't show The texting Option so i can't send them SMS to this phone no.
- How can i manage these contacts via my Computer , Backup , Edit and Synchronize them?
thanks in advance
Hi,
If you have, or get a Hotmail or Windows Live email address, set it up on your phone, then after you import your contacts to that website they will appear on your phone.
It seems a stupid way to have to do it instead of just plugging it into your computer but it does work. I took 592 contacts across that way.
For the location bit, mine came with Maps on it. I think it's Bing maps and works sort of ok but not as good as Google Maps.
Bluetooth only seems to connect to headsets. It's no use for getting info from another device. I've only had my phone a week but i haven't found a way to bluetooth a contact to another phone yet.
anyway good luck with it.
#646# works for me.
Bluetooth is indeed useless unless you have a headset.
Another browser? You'll have to buy it!
Location works fine but no Google Maps
Contact management is one of the nice things about this OS, it merges into one single place the info from Google, Hotmail and Facebook.
- hash numbers work perfectly fine for me too.
- I have seen some browsers in marketplace, I really like the SurfCube Browser, amazing and innovative design.
Some other great browsers: Browser Plus, Metro Web Browser and 7 Tab Browser.
- For your friends who have more than one mobile number, you can create multiple contacts and then link them together into one contact. This is what i did.

Hi everyone,
I used to have MyphoneExplorer for my k800i but know I have the x1 but cant find any program like MyphoneExplorer for free.
Does anyone know a free program like myphoneexplorer to organize my texts/calls/ etc etc
Hope someone can help
ty
you should prob describe what functionality your MyphoneExplorer offered
as people here would be more likely to know about programs for wm then old SE phone programs
The program saves text messages.. and you can accept cals trough your pc.
I found oxycube from oxygen. But that program is pretty expensive.. and would like a similar free program
no one is using a phone manager on your desktop??

MyPhoneExplorer is an awesome program that let you connect your phone to your computer (either by bluetooth or cable), and from your computer you can do those things:
- Contact: view, change, and sync your contact to the program own database, or Outlook, Outlook Express, or Gmail
- The same thing goes for calendar and note, you can sync them to its own database or Outlook. With calendar, you are given the option to sync to GCal, Rainlendar, or ICal
- You can also set up alarm from your computer and sync it to your phone
- It syncs all the record of your call: miss, receive, dial
- It syncs all your messages, and with the extra feature of archive your deleted messages.
- It let your browse your files on the phone: your pictures, your music...
- it monitor the status of your phone: storage, memory, bluetooth signal, phone signal, battery...
Literally, after connected, your computer is just like a huge screen phone with keyboard. You can browse everything that are on your phone. And when a sms arrives, it pops up like a chat window. And when a call comes, it pops up on your screen whether you want to accept or reject.
So far I never seen any program that can do all sort of thing. I can get some program to do some certain things I want. But I dont see any that sucks up all things I need to do with my phone into 1 program, like MyPhoneExplorer. My mind was just blown away when I used it. Honestly, after switching to a Win.Mobile platform, I still miss some of the features from MyphoneExplorer. I admit I am a big fan of it, not mention that it is free.

I am in the same boat with you. I owned a k800i and try recently bought a Touch Pro2. I try to find a replacement for MyPhoneExplorer and I find this one: MOBILedit. Its features description and its screenshot show it has similar functions to MyPhoneExplorer. Unfortunately, my phone is unsupported. So I cannot tell you how well those functions work.
But I see your phone is on the supported phone list. So maybe you can try it and see how it compares to MyPhoneExplorer. It is not free thou. And I doubt if there is any program offers all those cool features for free.
I just found xilisoft mobile phonemanager and its free!!.. And I only want to buy software if its great .. and mobiledit its ok for free but not great!.. if you know what I mean
I'm an android noob, just came over from the iPhone camp so please bear with me..
I've had the sgs for a couple of days and so far been trying to get a good handle on managing my contacts...
I used to backup / sync my iphone in itunes and my company outlook. I had a recent backup of my contacts in outlook, so the easiest way to get them on the android was to sync them over...
Now they show up in my corporate group.
Then I sync'd my facebook and it did a decent job of linking most of my contacts (I really like the way android does this as opposed to iphone)
I also had a recent list of contacts on my sim since I had been iphone-less for a couple of months and was using the old nokia flipper.
Now I have a couple of questions...
I've got my contacts display options only showing me the corporate and facebook groups (with phone numbers) .. so the list looks good !!! however when I send or receive a text message, it also shows all my sim contacts. A few of my sms threads were linked to the sim contact (only first name, no picture etc) .. the only way i found to resolve this was to delete that particular contact off my sim...
question 1) how do you delete all sim contacts ? (couldnt find a select all)
question 2) do I really have to delete my sim contacts? or can I disable it altogether so it won't show anywhere in my phone
question 3) next time I get some cute girl's phone number, it'll get stored as a "phone" contact .. how do I keep my corporate (outlook) contacts in sync with phone contacts... or can I put her number right in the corporate (outlook) group so it stays in sync with my exchange account ..
I don't want to end up with a bunch of numbers as phone contacts and another bunch as outlook / corporate contacts. I'd like to be able to back it all up somehow (like itunes would backup the iphone and sync with outlook)
Thanks for your insight and wisdom
if you are having trouble using Kies to manage your contacts, you can try this better alternative
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765081
I installed android manager .. still no way to delete all sim contacts !!! amazes me why such a simple task is just not possible...
well good thing i have my 8 year old nokia phone that does it for me
Also annoying that I cant just turn off sim contacts so I won't have to delete all of them (another thing 8 year old nokia just does!)
indeed we have apps like this
http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.shao.Copy2SIM
to copy contacts to SIM
but we have nothing to manage contacts from SIM
LOL
That's cool .. I plugged the sim in the nokia and wiped all of its contacts .. not the android doesnt get confused anymore..
now if i could only find that patch to fix my sms time stamps .. i'd be a happy android camper.. I tried 3rd party sms apps, but they dont seem to read my "exchange corporate" contacts .. so every text shows with just the phone number .. sigh
to hide your sim contacts on samsung galaxy S use the options :
contacts->menu->display option->choose contacts to display "UNCHECK SIM"
hope this helps
Hi all. Got my HD7 few days ago and can't find out how to export my phone contact list to SIM. There is the import function (to import contacts from SIM to phone) but is there the export function?
Does not exist. There was a nice Sim Manager in previous versions of Windows Mobile but it's missing in WP7. Even my iPhone had this feature missing and yes.. finally "there's an app for that" in the iPhone world.
Hopefully it's also an app for this Phone OS that will be coming. Some times (not all the time) I don't want to carry around my HTC HD7. Being able to export contacts to Sim allows for another phone to be used and still have all your phone# you might need.
or you could store your new contacts as windows live contacts so they are stored online and they can be imported to any WP7 phone. not perfect but one solution.
Yes... that would work but some of us have an older phone (candy bar style) as a back up or for travel (not use carrier data plan abroad). Not being able to transfer all contacts to sim would be an issue. I sure hope all the good things about previous Windows Mobile are brought over to WP7. Even some nice features of the iPhone should be implemented too.
I will say though... going to the cloud for data is fantastic. The idea would be to have access to all your info no matter what phone/internet device/appliance is being used. As I understand it Microsoft is really pushing for Laptop/Phone/TV as the interface. Just image being able to logon to any internet enabled device in the world, make a phone call, send email, Instant Messege or SMS, watch movie/TV all from your "Live" account. One day it will be possible !
I honestly could care less about this function unless they improve sim cards.
1. Names tend to get chopped off
2. Different "contact" for every number each contact has (1 for mobile, 1 for home, etc)
3. No other info makes it across (address, email addy, etc), at least on t-mobile
Now, if they improved the sim cards to actually store the contact the way its stored on the phone, then I could see it as a valuable thing.
HD7 cant export contacts to SIM
Hi
Leading on from earlier reply to this thread. What are the steps to
or you could store your new contacts as windows live contacts so they are stored online and they can be imported to any WP7 phone. not perfect but one solution.
Can you export the contacts on the phone to windows live account in one go or is it a case of manually creating a contact in windows live for each entry in the phone book on the phone
My contacts in my phone book have lot of detail in them. Emails, addresses, multiple phone numbers, notes, etc so having to manually type all of these into a windows live contact is going to take forever and is real pain
Also, what are the steps/instructions to follow to then import these contacts from windows live to windows 7 phone
Thanks
o wow im so disapointed that i cant back up my contacts to my sim card i realy hope a talented dev will address this issue with some new application
im t-mobel us!
i did store my contacts online but thats not going to fix the probums im about to face when the next update hits
we realy need a fix for this
Export contacts to sim is a must!!!!
Sync WP7 HD7 contacts
I have added new contacts directly in the phone but they were not sync to windows live. How can I sync manually? or How can I force the sync of all my contacts? Can I perform a general contact backup?
Thanks!
boooooooooooooooo
I'm a programmer and I'll have a go at implementing something. It may be the case, however, that it's just not possible to gain access to the sim from the WP7 API.
The reason I need to do this, is that I don't want to take my expencive WP7 phone hillwalking (can be very wet where I live) so I bought a cheap and cheerful candy bar phone for outdoor activities. I'd rather not type in a heap of contacts though if I can help it.

After some digging around I see that it's not possible. The WP7 API doesn't provide any access to the sim card. You can but a sim card writer very cheaply though. Maybe one of those can integrate with Windows Live contacts. Probably not.
contacts transfer
u can transfer ur contacts using Nokia contacts transfer app for any unlocked wp7 via bluetooth

If you've set up a windows live account, and have it on the phone as well, contacts and calendar are automatically backed up to windows live every time it syncs... go to the email settings and make sure the windows live account is scheduled to sync and not set to manual sync.
I flash my phone all the time and windows live always syncs my phone contacts and calendar back without loosing anything.
Hi,
I recently found that there is an option for adding IM accounts for each contact. While in Edit Contact mode you have the choice to add an IM account (most common ones) for each contact. If you add an IM account you will then have a choice within a contact to start IM chat with that specific person.
My problem is that if I add an Microsoft Live account for one of my friends nothing happens when I try to send a message. E.g There is no application linked to this action.
It works well if I instead use Google Talk, but then that application is installed on the phone.
Since there is no official MSN application available I wonder if there is a way to get this working ? Is there an Motorola app which is not present on my phone? (running custom firmware) or is there a way to link a specific app to that action ? (Ebuddy for example) or how is this intended to be used ?
Been searching the net for an answer without any luck.

nope, instant messaging from contacts is only avail. for Gtalk.
some extra functionallity comes with the official skype app, (like in facebook or twitter)
but you can mess aound with jabber transports if ur rly interessted, that works quite well for me, but can get complicated too.
there are guides for that out there - if u google "jabber transport gtalk"

Thanks for the reply. I also found out that this has nothing to do with Motorola, since it looks and behaves the same on my Samsung Galaxy. Looks like Google prepared for IM via Contacts but since there are no offical clients (or non official) that integrates with the contacts it doesn't work. Would be good to be able to configure this yourself. Anyway I will stick with Ebuddy which lets me connect to different networks within the same applikation.

Hi all,
I just unplugged my sim from my X1 silver, and plugged it into my HD7. and then, after two hours...
1. how do you actually sync your phone contacts from ms outlook 2007 to it? I tried downloading zune, but nothing. The freakin' thing doesn't even have a manual.
2. I thought I won't encounter a problem since it's HTC and since it's WM7, and since my PC is win7 x64. But oh boy, this is getting in my nerves.
3. WM7 doesn't know how find a hidden (SSID) WIFI. I mean,.. Dang!
compared to any wm phones, just plug the hell into your pc, get wmdc, and then voila. 5 minutes tops.
XD
WP7 is indeed a different bird from WM. Hidden SSID is a known limitation, and hopefully gets addressed with the coming update.
I assume your outlook is not connected to exchange? If so, piece of cake, if not, you'll likely prefer (or not) to use a hotmail connector for outlook. This essentially creates a cloud-based sync.
Oh, and the manual is inside the box in a little pocket.
I managed to upload my msoutlook 2007 contacts to the cloud using OC32bit. almost a piece of cake. But, I'm having a hard time getting it to my phone.
When I try to add an account, it says windows live account is already added. but when I tap people. There nothing in the contacts list. None.
When I try to login to windows live via pc I can see all the contacts from there.
I... just hate it.
Talk about innovation, talk about the future. XD
Use Outlook connector and a hotmail account and everything works perfectly.
Hi,
Thanks! I manage to do it now. After spending a night my phone book has everything on it now(contacts wise). Too lazy to repeat it for calendar, lastly, I missed activesync so much that even your one note syncs to your wm.
I'm having thoughts on returning the phone and getting the android version (desire or X10) because of these:
1. hd7 only installs apps on what windows wants and not what YOU want.
2. it doesn't support pdf file for book reading, document reading.
3. I heard it doesn't open .doc .xls and any lower .doc files. (old docs still exist today unconverted)
4. I can't put files on the phone "ala USB flash disk style" I mean where's the plug drag and go, when you use the phone business wise. how do you intend to use the 16G space? (for movies or music; given the rumored battery life?)
Everything we do on our wm phones aren't easy to do on this wp7 anymore, I haven't reviewed at it before I grabbed my HD7 since I said to myself what do I have to worry about? I have grown from WM5, WM6 and WM6.1, what could go wrong?
I dunno I mean I hope I'm not babbling, I can't google if i don't open pocket ie and type google, I can't install opera, I can't browse flash sites I mean, youtube isn't the only streaming video out there. I can't install my garmin mobile xt, I can't install java app, I can't explore the contents of my phone. I mean this is freakin' alien windows i'm using. I don't even know if I can find my phone on over the local area (win7) network or homegroup.
With all the "I can'ts" I said. I thought I'd better off android!. XD
1. hd7 only installs apps on what windows wants and not what YOU want.
If you mean the app store is limited, yes it is. It's growing though.
2. it doesn't support pdf file for book reading, document reading.
Download the Adobe Reader from Marketplace. Free.
Haven't tried #3.
4. I can't put files on the phone "ala USB flash disk style" I mean where's the plug drag and go, when you use the phone business wise. how do you intend to use the 16G space? (for movies or music; given the rumored battery life?)
Zune. It's just a matter of figuring it out. It's different, to be sure. They also want you to utilize cloud based storage more. The offer free SkyDrive space included with your live account, and most of the MS apps can access that space. Other apps, like the eBook reader Freda, can connect to a DropBox account. Then there is Sharepoint.
I can't google if i don't open pocket ie and type google
Open up IE then press the capacitive Search button. Instantly takes you to Google.
I just found there's a google app in the markeplace too? and yes it grows every hour, its almost endless... pretty neat!
If you say it's just a matter of figuring it out, I hope I can figure it out with an option NOT to upload it on a cloud, since c'mon not all places in the world have super fast internet connection, I don't want uploading an entire folder up there then downloading it to my device.
And even if the chevron thing would work on my device, It would void my warranty so I wouldn't try.
After 2 days with my new phone, I feel much more comfortable with it now. I hope it would get even better.
Gotta follow this up since I don't want to start another similar thread.
I have another question:
The phone contacts (people) always have you on top named "Me"
question is, How do you actually link a contact to "Me"?
I just noticed it now that somebody asks for my bank account and of course, I'll look for it in my notes within my ms outlook contact under my name. I just found out that my name in my hd7 doesn't have a picture and doesn't have a facebook link(not that the FB link is too important), etc. and when I click the link icon in the bottom middle, I can link it to any other contact entry in my phone except "Me".
Technically speaking, the contact named after me in my phone is treated as another person. I tried signing on to windows live, check my contact there, found my name and the options I have is "add as a friend" which is really beginning to sound funny.
Long story short, I need to link my ms outlook 2007 contact(myname) to the owner of the HD7 phone which is me, so I wouldn't retype everything and delete the synced "myname" account since if i do so that would be deleted in my PC. I gotta have 'em both. but I wish I just could link it to my phone's "Me" account.
That's a toughie.
So the "Me" contact syncs up with both your Windows Live account and your Facebook account (which you add in services --> email and accounts, NOT the blue facebook app)
I don't see a way to sync the Me contact with another outlook contact.
You may want to take the notes in your Outlook contact and copy them to your Live stuff.

that's dependant on carrier... I get yahoo, you could get the google search app from the market or pin google from IE to the start so you can launch straight to google.

Yeah, not the blue facebook app. and I think I'll just have to deal with it having two seperate accounts the Me, and my outlook unlinked.
@frontieruk
Speaking about the search button, it is getting annoying when you actually hit the button accidentally. I hope someday a double-press (double-click) fix would make it possible.
I had a similar experience except that I got the "Me" where it's suppose to be the first time. Learning little by little, I guess Hotmail (windows live) is actually kinda cool.
