Does anyone know if you can send contact details via bluetooth or sms to another phone from an HD7? As you can't copy & paste do i have to write it all out?
There is a paid app called Forward Contacts available in Marketplace which has been released recently and seems to do what you are asking in that it can use sms or email to forward contacts.
Other than via an app, there doesn't seem to be any way of doing this. Nodo will make it a bit easier by allowing the copying and pasting of contact info into a message, but the way I often do it is to go onto my PC and email the contact card from Outlook.
Not ideal, but is a reasonable work-around for the time being.

I have an AT&T tilt. It seems like whenever I get an email and I check it on my Tilt, if I move that email from the inbox into its appropriate folder that later on I notice the email is marked as unread again.
If I leave it in the inbox this doesn't happen.
As an example, in the morning when I get up, I check all my email on my phone and then move them into the appropriate folder. But by the time I get to work and check my email on the computer I see that all the folders that I moved the emails too are bold and show that there is an unread message in them. When I check those folders I see the the unread emails are the ones I checked on my phone earlier in the morning and that I already read them.
This is probably something really simple, but it's annoying and I don't know how to fix it. I'd appreciate it if anyone could help me out. Thanks!
BTT
Anyone have any idea on how to fix this? Thanks!
Please? Anyone?
(Exchange) It's because in the AS settings you chose to have your desktop overide your device. This is popular because on older model ppc's with volatile memory if your device died you'd lose evrything when you resync'd via wireless sync with the device overiding the desktop.
(Hotmail, Yahoo, etc...) This also happens because the mail host overides the device. The only way to make the email stop is to perform the read on the host account site.
Thanks a lot for the explanation. That makes sense.
Hi all,
It's not really a Diamond specific issue, more a Windows Mobile one, but since I'm running Direct Push on the Diamond now, I thought it would be ok to post this here.
I have Direct Push enabled (Microsoft Exchange) and it works.
I have quite a few subfolders in my 'Inbox' on the Exchange server, having Outlook sending email to the appropriate folder as they arrive, using Outlook's 'rules'.
On the Diamond (mailbox 'Outlook') I can see all those folders and I have marked them all for sync - which works.
Now the problem is that I only receive a pushmail notification (sound alert/vibration and onscreen message) for email that is not send to a subfolder by a rule, and that stays in 'Inbox'.
When I receive mail that was sent to a subfolder by rule, it get pushed to the same subfolder in the Diamond, but without any notification.
Now who's dealing with a situation like this, and knows how I can get my new email notification for all subfolders?
Thanks!!
I've got the same problem, and it is realy a problem because I've have a lot of subfolders.
Jacky
Same problem for me too... any luck figuring it out?

I've wished for this for a long time and I know of no solution. I have rules running in Outlook to sort only messages that I don't need immediate notification of on my device. The rules to sort the others are disabled. Periodically, I manually run the other rules to sort my inbox.
I have a "different" but effective workaround for this:
Are you guys using Server side rules to move all of the e-mails to the different folders?
I set all my rules to be client (Outlook) side. So when I am at my notebook, the e-mail will be moved to the correct folders. When I am out in the field, and using my Diamond, those rules obviously don't run, so everything stays in my Inbox and I get notified of all the mails.
Back in the office, my Outlook rules will move it to the correct folders when I open Outlook.
Like I said, not the best of ways to do it, but it works for me
A probably dump question, but wanted to see if my company is running push enabled email and if is it possible to receive mail notifications on my Diamond by knowing the following: company is using Exchange Server - I can check my work email only either via Outlook client or Outlook Web Access.
From the above does it seem that I can have push email working on my Diamond? Do they have to be running some special push server for this to work.
I know I can ask this IT department, but wanted to clarify this here before I approach them.
Thanks.
@ EazyVG,
Since you're accessing email through OWA (and Outlook Client), that means your company is using MS Exchange Server(and Microsoft Direct Push, which is a part of Exchange Server).
So you can get the emails pushed on your Diamond as soon as they arrive(or any device that supports Direct Push for that matter) just by configuring an email account on your device with the settings same as of your email server.
Thanks for the info.
So, there is no solution to the topic-title issue?

There are several applications that you can try:
MessageNotify - Installs as Today Plugin, showing all subfoders with new e-mails
You can find it on Softpedia.
And CheckMail that claims to do the same, but the site section dedicated to the software is unavailable at the moment I was writing this post
The producer is called Magicashop
(sorry for not being able to send links to those applications, but xda forum prevents me since this is my first post)

Hi,
Our company is getting rid of BlackBerry and I thought it would be good to switch my BlackBerry to my personal Phone which is Tilt and having some issues with it. I've got most of things sorted out as far as setting it up but there are couple of things I can't find answer to.
1. It only notifies of new emails that are in Inbox but it doesn't notify any of new emails that are in different folders. I have couple of folders that I've set rules to move new emails to different folders but those don't give me any kind of notification when new email arrives. Any way to make it notify me?
2. It seems only place I can store my email is memory in the phone and only store attachment to storage card. Is there a way around it so that I can set everything to storage card? That way I don't waste memory in my Tilt?
3. With BlackBerry, once I select folders to be synced there's message screen that shows all new emails instead of switching folders to see new emails in Inbox and other folders I've created such as Boss, colleagues, tickets etc. Is there a way or program that lets me see all the new emails in one centralized location/folder/screen?
Thanks you very much.

I've been trying to find a way to fix this...
Is there a way or a setting somewhere that stops the Tilt from downloading messages I send/reply or is that a setting a gmail. It is annoying when I reply to an email using the gmail web interface or with outlook on my PC, then my phone will download my mail as a new message. I don't really want to set up some sort of filter, since some times when I send an email, I will CC myself, but I am just annoyed by it downloading every single reply.
Uuuuuhhhhhhh o.k.
stop CC'ing yourself, just check your sent box... too simple or not complex enough a solution?

Did you read the problem or not understand it? The problem is when I reply to emails, the Tilt will download it as a new message. Where did I state that I CC myself all the time? What does checking my sent messages have anything to do with what the Tilt is downloading?
little snippy...
Pretty sure you not only said it, but now you've highlighted the fact that you sometimes CC yourself on emails sent, so yes, you would receive a copy. You would check your sent box to view messages that you have sent rather than CC'ing yourself. Mighty snippy for someone asking for help. Are you using a threaded version of Gmail? that's the only reason I could think you would receive a copy of the conversation, aside from CC'ing yourself.
If you read it, it says SOMETIMES. My problem is EVERY email reply gets downloaded. The CCs aren't a problem and not something I am complaining about. I am complaining about all replies done by me being downloaded as a new email. My response to you would have been different if you actually replied like you read it what the problem was.
updated after you posted
Trying again, are you using a threaded style of Gmail or the true Gmail website?
Not really sure. I rarely ever use the gmail website unless I am at a different computer. Most of my email comes to my phone and PC, which I remote into during work and just use Outlook to respond if I can. I'll try to explain the problem better. I apologize, just having a hectic day at work.
When someone emails me, the Tilt will download the email.
I will reply back using the tilt, or Outlook on my PC, and every once in a while, the gmail web interface. NOT CCing myself.
Tilt then downloads again, my reply and puts it in my inbox.
The only time I CC myself, is when I send out a new email that I feel is important. I do this because I like to have a copy for myself, and I empty my sent box on a weekly basis.
Also, I just did a web search on this threaded gmail thing you were talking about. It appears that is a 'feature' in gmail and it can't be disabled. It puts my replys in a 'conversation' style so it thinks that my replies are new messages and just downloads them. I guess I just have to deal with it.
More questions
Does ONLY the tilt capture all replies or do they also show up on your box at home and is this independant of from where you reply (home box or tilt)? Gmail uses a conversation view that shows reply messages as a long conversation would appear in MMS/SMS. I can't imagine that this would cause the problem but may be another piece to this puzzle.
Don't worry about my comments, I'm a smart-ass. Pretty much everyone is here to help and there are many more smart-assier (and just plain smarter) than me. Just roll with the punches and enjoy the website.
I must type slowly
I use Gmail and reply from my tilt as well, but have not had a problem. But i don't use a web app, I have gmail as a separate account that I access just like standard push-mail. What way do you use gmail?
Same problem
When I used my tilt I was having the same problem. I would send an email from my tilt (from a push account I had set up on the phone) and would receive a copy of the sent mail as a new message. I had that phone for 2 years and used various roms and could never stop it from doing so. It was very annoying to say the least. Some light on this matter would be awesome.
If I can, I just use email from the phone, or outlook on my PC if there is a large attachment. It only does it on the Tilt. My outlook on the PC is only showing up the emails from other people, and not myself. I can see on the web interface my replies though if I log on.
I have it set up on the Tilt as an account as well, so I am not using the gmail interface thru the phone. Not sure how I have it setup or if it is a seperate email software. I just click on messages and added the email account. It doesn't matter where I reply from. I also have a Yahoo account set up and it doesn't do this.
Also, the phone info:
Duttys WM6.1 build 19700
radio 1.65.14.06
I had this problem once and I was because I forget to change the "[email protected]" that I used during the initial setup back to my actual e-mail address.
I just fixed the issue. I deleted the account from the phone and recreated a new one and set it up as IMAP. I think the issue at first was because I had it set up and let the phone download the settings for me and it configured it as POP. This time, I set up everything manually and tested it out and it appears to be fine now.
Im desperate, i already spent two days to find a way how to import contacts to my lumia 520 with WP8 without using any cloud service like live, hotmail, google, etc. I had a diamond 2 with WM 6.5. I got my screen broken, only what i was able to do - syncing contacts with my computer. Now i have all the contacts in outlook, but i find no way how to import contacts to WP8 with no cloud. Pls. help. If there is a way how to import sms - ill be most happy man on that month
If you have WM 6.5 you can save/export contacts to vCard (*.vcf format) and copy to SD card. Next, you have to install Transfer my data and via this app you can import contacts from SD card.
With this aplication you can too transfer your contacts via bluetooth from your old phone.

I have no access to my old phone anymore. With broken display i have only outlook to be used as a source. Anyway, Transfer My Data app is working with bluetooth, no possibility to access SD card, which is in my case not a solution. Thanks for you effort.

Ok, here is the idea - is it possible to save VCF file to SD card on my laptop and use the laptop as source "mobile phone" via the application? On my laptop i have W7.
Im really getting angry on Microsoft. They always have to screw it up - they are so desperate for our private data.

Export your contacts from Outlook as a CSV. Then you can use Yahoo or Hotmail to import the CSV file. If it has the option to select CSV from Outlook make sure to use that option. It makes a difference if they specify. Whichever account you use you may want to clean your contact list because they will all be mixed in together. What I did was created a second Hotmail account and used that as my WP8 ID and for all of my MS Live account access. Imported my CSV file to that Hotmail account, then setup that Hotmail account on the phone contact list and everything imported in a few minutes. Hope it works for you as well as for me. I really prefer to use ATT address book but it wont work on my unlocked unbraded 520. If you can get ATT address book to work then that is by far an easier way. Login to https://addressbook.att.net/ and setup your account. I'm making the assumption that you have ATT as your provider. Once logged in and setup, import the CSV file there. Then open ATT address book app on your phone. Also set it up as your contact list in settings.
One other possible option: WP can import contacts from the SIM. SIM cards tend to only be able to store a really small number of contacts at once, so it may take several rounds of storing and importing, but it's a think you could try. If your old phone isn't currently usable for this, you could try having it done at a carrier store; they usually have the tools.
By the way, if you're so paranoid about privacy that you don't want MS to even know who is in your contacts list and/or you don't trust their privacy policies, I'm not sure that any modern smartphone is really going to work for you. A completely rooted Android phone with a modified, custom-built ROM, perhaps? All the major smartphone OS vendors use "cloud" synching for things like contacts.
Thanks for help
all of you guys. At the end i spent yesterday 3 hours to manually do that. I export all the contacts and sent them as vcf. Then i received e-mail to my Lumia 520, and one after one - it takes 4 clicks for one contact - added to my contact list. I had like 580 contacts - at least, after few years i delete some of them
Once again - BIG THANKS for your effort!!
Now the second part of the question - as im going to order new digitizer for my loved diamond 2 - how to export/import sms from WM6.5 to WP8 with no cloud?

I hate all this cloud system - i always tried to keep my data private, and stored only local. For the next phone i should ask you guys first, and than get one
