Hi to all
Had anyone managed to use SPB TV without problem using WIFI only?
I had installed SPB TV, I see the channels, when I choose a channel I see the guide, and the thumbnail of the channel, but when I press to see the picture ( channel streaming ) I have black picture, buffering is always at 0%
I use it with WIFI only
Everything else, Youtube, internet is working fine
works fine for me, wifi or not
You are using Galaxy Tab?
Why is not working with mine? have you any idea?
The same application in my iphone is working fine. using the same wifi
I have installed the same application in a chinese tablet having eclair 2.1 and it is not working. Same problem as the tab.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA Premium App
It works flawlessly for me on wifi, but very badly on 3G. I usually get 3 bars 3G signal, so the signal can't get much better. Still poo though.
I dont use 3G, and I had disabled the use of 3g for data. For me streaming through wifi is not possible, I cannot find the reason why, Running the same application through my pc and iphone is working fine using the same network.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA Premium App
Yes, I use it on my GT and an HTC HD2.
Hard to figure out why yours isn't working as there's really no option to set up in this program.
It requires a reliable 3G or WiFi conection to work, and while wifi at home should always be reliable, when connected to 3G I often get the channel logo, the guide and "instant picture" but then clicking on it I may get this error message: "impossible to connect to the TV server, check your internet connection".
But no buffer shows.
Maybe it's your wifi modem firewall problem so you have to open a special gate.
Streaming protocols for tablet might be different from phone and blocked for some reason.
Try on another WiFi and make sure you have the latest build of SPB TV
I installed it on mine last night and it works fine, though it`s mostly non English channels.
Hi to all
Very strange, I want you to do the above test to check through the broswer if you follow the links if you have picture, and with what application
I have no message about connection problem. I use Rottohammers Rom V2 but I don't think this is the problem.
I had sent a message in the SPB support, I will sent you the answers and the details of my case, If you have any idea.
I had tested it in three devices 2 tablets, iphone, and my PC
Read the details above
=======================================
Thank you for your message and interest in SPB Software.
Please, open this page in the browser on your device: http://www.spbgo.com/stest
You will see several links to video streams. Try launching the first three.
How do these streams play?

Hi and thank you for the quick answer
Very very strange what is happening here....
I tried it using 2 broswers, The stock and the Dolhin, I used 3 applications to open the streams, Stock Video application, mVideo Player, and Vplayer.
ALL SEVEN LINKS gives NO PICTURE ( Black picture ) Very strange.....
I tried to open all 7 links using VLC player on my PC running windows 7 and all links are playing Video very good.
I don't know what to guess
Using your windows application, I have very good picture on my PC
Using your iphone application , I have good picture on my iphone
Using the same application in my Galaxy Tab and in another Chinese tablet gives NO PICTURE
Since VLC on my PC has picture means that ISP has no problem ( My Pc is connected to my router with LAN cable and a static IP )
iphone and the 2 tablets are connected wireless to the same router with DHCP, Why iphone is working and not the tabs running android?
My router is very good one a Draytek Vigor 2710n I double checked, not changes are made to close rtsp streams ( There is no such choice in setup )
I tried to connect to the net with another access point I have a NETGEAR the same problem. ( The NETGEAR is only access point and it is connected to my Draytek Modem-router-Wifi, through a LAN cable,So if something is blocked in the modem, the NETGEAR will not give access I guess... )
I will going to be crazy, what else might be the cause of the problem??????
========================================
I had tried in my Pc using Android SDK virtual Pc and it is not working eather.
Thanks in advance
I'd suggest backing up your existing ROM and trying a wipe.
It may well be you have an application blocking access.
Of course, if you don't have ClockworkMod on your Tab, this is going to be a pain, but it's still probably the best course of action at this stage.
FWIW, I'm running the MoDaCo ROM, and SPB TV works perfectly for me. I was surprised to find it was a free app now, as I purchased it ages ago on my Hero, but never bothered installing it on my later phones/tablet.
Regards,
Dave
Hi
If you read my post you will see that SPB TV it is not working
in my Galaxy Tab, a Chinese Tablet running Eclair 2.1, and in the virtual PC Running Android SDK
So I think it is not ROM problem.. Roto V2 runs fine in my Tab
Please make the test above with the link sent to me by SPB support, to tell me the results, if with the stock broswer, and the stock video player you have picture folowing the links
Thanks

I did read your post! If you *read* my post, you will see that SPB TV *is* working for me. Therefore, testing the links you provided is a pointless exercise, because naturally I'd expect them to work if the app does, but regardless of this I've tested and yes they are fine. I also never stated that it was a ROM problem - I said that another application may be blocking access.
So - what have we established:
1. There is nothing wrong with the application on my Galaxy Tab
2. There is nothing wrong with streams on my Galaxy Tab
3. Other than you, everyone else who has posted on this thread is not having issues with SPB TV on their Galaxy Tabs.
This doesn't help you at all unless you are prepared to take some advice and actually try something different.
Blithely stating it is not a ROM problem when it quite possibly is is just nonsense, when thus far everyone else who has posted on this thread has said that it works for them!
Regards,
Dave
Hi my friend thanks for the detailed answer.
I said that I think it is not rom problem, because, SPB TV is not working in my chinese tab running eclair 2.1, and also in my PC running android sdk Froyo 2.2 virtual PC.
So if the application was running in the other two devices, it was sure, that something was going in my GalaxyTab
From the SPB tech they told me to open some ports, but I don't think this is the reason. Ports in the router are opened if you want others access something in your network
So the next thing to do is check the application in another network outside mine
Perhaps it is my ISP problem...
I had tried also to open the ports but no success.
I don't know what other to check my router is a Draytek Vigor 2710N
works for me too
Roto JMIv2 and everything works fine here, both on 3g and wifi.
Can't really imagine what kind of issue you stumbled upon...

Hi
Finally it is my router problem. I tried an old and cheaper roouter I had and it works fine, now in my router a draytek vigor vpn, i try to find out what is blocking rtsp. I had not set any blocking, I had emailed the Draytek Vigor support, to tell me how to fix the problem, only if I put the tabs ip in Dmz host it works, but I want the Dmz host for my Dvr.

I try to use via WIFI - not working
Try to use on the same tab via - 3g - work fine
On the router firewall - disabled...
Whats the problem? -(
Changing the router to Cisco e4200 helps me)

Hey everyone, PDAnet is now available for android!
http://junefabrics.com/android/index.php
PdaNet does NOT require root access or hacking your phone's firmware in order to work. It is just a regular Android application that works on all Android phones as-is. Currently this initial version supports USB tethering on the T-Mobile G1 phone. Tethering is secure and will also charge your phone at the same time. Your phone can either connect to 3G data or WiFi.

It works perfectly, and root access is not required.
Enjoy!
Good find! Works best with Opera browser (other browsers such as IE and Firefox, won't display pictures for some reason...) Has some connectivity issues when using longer than 5 minutes (yes, I have enable usb bugging enabled and stay alive while connected via usb) All and all, a good program for your laptop without draining your G1 or when the REAL internet goes out. Good find! Thanks! Also, incredibly simple to use!!!
EXE installer? WTF?! How does it work? Does the program require something on the computer-end too?
I'm Linux user, so I can't use it?
Yes, it seems to be only compatible with windows. Since you're in linux, you may try running it through WINE to see what happens.

Did you experience the pictures not loading problem also while using IE or firefox?
this doesn't really seem to work yet
I was able to install it without much trouble and the initial connection looked promising (well, some pages came up anyway).
It was basically impossible to connect to Speedtest.net however and Speakeasy only rated my connection at 287/283 kbps at best (the G1 was on WiFi). I tested it again with the G1 on 3G and got a 409/330 kbps (doesn't that seem weird that it would rate better on 3G?) but then it seemed to stop connecting somehow and I had to restart the program and reestablish the connection on the PC. After a few more minutes it happened again. I would call this basically not useful at the moment, but I hope they can work the bugs out and get some decent speed out of it.
For reference, using Tether WiFi to connect to the G1 over 3G Speakeasy rated the connection at 699/316 kbps. And in my experience it's stable/consistent.
As a disclaimer, this was on my work laptop which has some pretty hefty encryption software installed. While this may be the problem, I didn't have any trouble connecting initially (multiple times).
Additional:
Their "reviews" section is just "customer testimonials", as my honest yet critical assessment of the app's inability to perform as intended was NOT posted and they didn't even bother to drop me an email to try to sort out the problem. I hope they can improve on the app, but they're quickly losing my respect and interest.
I just got this. I dl it to my sd card, connect phone to pc w usb, ran exe through windows. Installed program automatically onto phone. Windows asks to install driver for g1 and it does the work from there.
It seems to work ok, the first few tries on my desktop it would disconnect after a few minutes, restarted phone and its been better but still only seems to stay connected for about 20 min, which should be ample time to do alittle websurfing without getting mad about disconnects.
well they might not have replied because they are aware of the problem, and they clearly state that this is beta software. if you look at the known issues the first one is about the connection dropping and having to reconnect.
once they work out the bugs this software will be pretty useful because of how easy it is to use.
if only i could plug the g1 into the 360 would save me $100...or if i could share the connection with my windows media desktop(i use it as a media server for my xbox and its not even close to a internet connection).
i tried to connect it but it does the network doesnt have sufficient MTU settings. xbox live requires a minimum MTU setting of 1364.
darn.
ill be watching for updates though, should be useful once fully operational.
i've been using mine for a while now...no problems once i turn off the wifi switch on my laptop...recently when i plug it in tho, it says PDAnet is expiring soon...is this supposed to be a paid app?
This app is gay... It was pretty good at first... but once the guy updated to r1.5... its been acting gay... it would come up with random blockings... it blocked www.google.com... wtf?... and wikipedia... yahoo answers... so I just got root and installed WiFi Tether for Root users... works way better and doesnt have blocks...
USB tether 4.2.6
This is supposed to be plug and play. A lot of people have said it's great. I have not been so fortunate. Anyway, could someone give me directions on how to use this. 1. plug in phone via USB. 2. settings/wireless settings/ internet tether (on). 3. Go to PC and click on G1Tether click connect. For me this does not work. Help.
This application is a fine hold-over for people who are too stupid to get root, but it is a VERY VERY poor imitation of tethering.
1) A real tethering solution will NOT require proprietary crap to be installed on the CLIENT.
2) Wired or Wireless tether for root users *IS* a *TRUE* plug-it-in-and-it-works solution. Run the program on the phone, plug in the wire, and you're done. No weird nonsense to be installed on the computer.
I am scheduled to Deploy to Iraq later this fall and will be taking my trusty N1.
In Iraq you pay an incredible amount of money for the internet it is something like $75 for 96k. One on the down falls is you link up via cat5. I had my HTC Touch Pro last time and I was able to update data etc surf the internet using active sync via miniusb while it was plugged in to my laptop. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Not sure if this will work on the N1 (do any custom ROMs support ad-hoc WiFi?), but worth a shot: http://modmymobile.com/forums/491-jailbreak-root-access/544146-connect-g1-ad-hoc-network-solved.html (skip to "Step 3" for instructions on changing the tiwlan.ini file).
P.S. Needs root for obvious reasons.

Thanks for that link, I'll have to try it out!
[Edit]
Unfortunately Connectify's Access Point mode is only supported on a limited number of WiFi cards, as seen here. My fairly new (1 year old) Lenovo X61 Tablet can only do Ad-Hoc, which still requires modding the wpa-supplicant on the N1. At that point Connectify becomes useless, since you can enable ICS in Windows on your own.
sweet and thanks. i am using this in-flight on gogo so i have access to two devices and only pay for one.
Sorry you are having issues, but yea not all cards are supported. Luckily, both my desktop and laptop have been compatible. My laptop initially had issues because I was not on the newest drivers for the wireless card. If your card isn't directly listed on the unsupported list, it might be worth it to try and upgrade drivers and test one more time.
Unfortunately I am running Xp on my laptop.

The first link is a guide for setting up an ad-hoc connection on Windows XP, the second is a link to a change to the Android source code that's been abandoned 2 months ago.
The good news is that according to the comments on the 2nd link Google is working on implementing Ad-Hoc support. The bad news is that it's not in FroYo, so we might have to wait for Gingerbread to see it. Of course, there's nothing preventing CyanogenMod team from implementing this change into CM6, so they would be the best people to ask about it.
In the network settings on my mac you can 'broadcast' your connection. The tutorial I read showing me how to do that said windows has a similar feature.
You can use travel router and setup internet sharing...
Source: you have to right-click the connection source->properties->advanced and setup the internet sharing.
Destination: If you have a spare ethernet jack, GOOD! Use it.
I know some Ralink-based wifi cards support virtual AP mode (the best bet are Hawking and Asus and I have both).
Has anyone else tried this app?
Im on tnt lite 4.4 and when I connect my gtab freezes.
I had the app working for a couple minutes at most.
Ive tried different browsers, but nothing, next I might try a different rom
and see if that works.
I have to try and use this app because I dont have root on my mobile yet.
Edit: i changed my rom to G harmony v2.4.
It connects but force closes on me, better then freezing up my tablet though.
Works for about five minutes, sometimes it doesnt want to connect at first either.
Edit: using cyanogenmod 7.0.3 this app works.
Currently connected to my mobile.
No freezing or force closes.
Here is the market description
This is a tablet version of the extremely popular PdaNet software. It allows you to share the Internet access of an Android device with another Android device through Bluetooth. You should install this application on both the tablet and the phone. Then run client mode on a tablet and server mode on a phone. No rooting required. Connection speed should be very fast if your phone has good data service. PdaNet works by setting the web proxy server on your tablet and route web requests to a Bluetooth DUN service. That means only applications that use web connections will work. On Honeycomb devices PdaNet supports Browser, Gmail and Map. For Android 2.2/2.3 devices PdaNet only supports the Browser app. We understand this solution is not ideal but it is really the only way to tether an Android tablet due to OS restrictions. This application is completely free and we hope it will be useful to you.

Tethered via WiFi is just one option but I think the whole point was to do it via Bluetooth.
I can't say for sure if BT has a better/stronger connection than WiFi, but it's something I've been yearning to find out.

This app is beta and on froyo and gingerbread you can only get internet on
Your browser app.
But it's free and I need to root my mobile.
I've been traveling and dont have a computer right now.
I saw it in the market on my Evo, but NOT on my Gtablet. How can I get it from my not rooted Evo to my rooted Viewsonic GTablet?
Can you backup your apps on your phone?
should be able to put it on your sdcard, then transfer it to your gtablet and install.
Just tried it, it pairs but does not connect via bluetooth. I'm rooted as well. From my understanding android had widespread issues connecting via bluetooth as a server/client to another android device.
Using an Apple or Windows based phone I have no issues.

Can anyone tell me how to get it running or suggest another program that will allow me to us my phones data plan that i am already paying for??
thanks in advance for any help !!
I don't suppose anyone knows if PDANet for iphone supports bluetooth? WIFI takes away WAYYYYY too much battery life.
Hello people!
I'm having a lot of difficulties trying to make my Galaxy S surfing on the net correctly... No matter what I do, I get 99% of the time this error message: "Web page not available". Sometimes it works, but very rarely. I'm using my home wifi connexion, and I tried every single browser I have: stock browser, Dolphin, xScope... only Opera Mini is working and loading pages normally.
I tried to load pages on MIUI, then on Simplicity, S.U.R.F.A.C.E. then Hybrid... nothing changes, still not able to load pages. I did a clean flashing of a stock JVQ with repartition and I finished with a hard reset after that... still nothing! One thing is that I'm able to load my router's configuration page (at 192.168.1.1). But I simply cannot connect to internet pages like Google, Facebook, Youtube, XDA etc...
I tried other devices on the same router and it's working fine: an iPhone, a Nokia phone, a laptop, a desktop. I tried another router, but nothing...
I have had the same problem, until I have updated my firmware
If you can't right now use Opera mini or Firefox portable. They use their own browser base, and should work fine
On normal data (3G) you can surf on these websites?
Whats about apps?
If you cannot connect through apps do the following:
Go to the setuppage of your router.
Type in your password and login.
Look for the WLAN settings.
Go to devices and look, if your device is in that list.
If yes:
Did you maybe block port 80 for your device?
If not:
Did you typed in the correct password?
Does your router accept new devices? (WLAN extended settings)
Report back

I had a very similar problem where I could only load in sites in opera mini (i assumed it must be something to do with opera mini rerooting traffic through their servers or something) but skyfire, dolphin, stock, opera mobile all would not work. Apps all worked fine like whatsapp, viber, and so on. This happened after i accidentally used the sim toolkit on my phone and it sent "browser settings".
For me deleting and redoing my APN settings fixed it but that would only work if your problem was on 3g. Worth a try anyway.
Thanks for your quick answers

That's what I'm actually doing: I'm using Opera Mini. But it's not as good as other browsers such as Dolphin. I can do a firmware update, or downgrade even, if it is a firmware related issue. I'm actually on JVR.

We still do not have 3G in my country.
Other apps are working fine, they can connect and download data, not everytime but much more than browsers. For example, market would not immediatly download new apps, it takes sometimes 2 or 3 tries. Anyway, I think they're working fine.
I checked my router's configuration to see if port 80 was blocked for my Galaxy S, but it's not. Actually I set it on DMZ mode to see if it will work, but no result.
And I couldn't find something to allow new devices on my router. But I guess it's not a problem since anything I tried to connect to it before worked fine.

Anyway, thank you for your help
I tried to connect on another router, from another place, and it worked. I installed a DD-WRT firmware on the router on which I wasn't able to connect but nothing changed... could it be the router hardware itself? The strange thing is that everything else is working on it (iPhone, laptop, desktop, other phones...).
I had a defective Chromecast that finally got replaced. That old one used to be recognized by my laptop and the mobile devices (iPad, Galaxy Note 2). My new one arrived and I performed the setup from my phone vs. from my laptop. Now, I can only see the Chromecast from my mobile devices and NOT from my laptop. Help is worthless, and Google Support is just about as useless... Has anyone experienced this? The only thing I can think of is that the first time, I set up my Chromecast from my laptop and then it was viewable from all devices. This time, I set it up from my mobile device and now it's only viewable from my mobile devices... Any suggestions?

I'll give it a shot and it will likely do the trick, but why should that make any difference? Know what I mean? It's on my network, can be seen by other devices, it shouldn't matter which device set it up as long as it's properly connected to my local network and visible.
I'm having the same problem here.
I live in Austria so no official support right now but anyway...
Chromecast can be set up with Notebook and Android Phone without any problem.
It was always working with Android + google music, youtube and netflix (with dns hack)
It was never working with Notebook and Google Chrome Browser and plugin. Chromecast isn't listed in the Chrome Browser but I can find the device with the windows configuration app. Very strange and clearly a bug and no network problem.
Right now, no support from Google... -_-
PS: hard-reset and reconfigure over notebook is useless. Still not working and I guess and expect it makes no difference to configure over Android or Windows...
PPS: Windows 8.1 was used...
