Hi!
I would like to ask if there are prepaid sim's in Spain or only postpaid? Was thinking if my phone will be useful or useless if I bring it with me.
Thanks!
Having been to Europe (but not spain) most likely you will find a carrier that offers pay as you go service. Vodafone and Orange definitely offer it. Here is some more info

Thanks! This is really helpful! Another question though, So the pay-as-you-go can be bought anywhere without signing a contract? And you can load when ever you want? Good thing my phone is unlock and GSM supported . I won't be staying that long so I just need a sim for communication.

Thats right. Whenever I go to Poland, I go to one of the telecoms stores (Plus GSM for me) and buy a starter kit, that has a sim card and some cash on it. Once you reach a low amount, you just go into a store, and buy a scratch card, put in the code, and you are good to go. They dont take any info from you. YOu can load whenever you want and you can always forget about it when leaving the country.

Called AA&T today and requested sim unlock code for upcoming trip abroad. I was told no problem, phone rep filled out a request on her end and said it would be emailed to me by Oct. 15th. I bought the Tilt yesterday outright, no upgrade or contract extension. Hope this is useful.
Any cost?
How much did you pay? I am looking to buy one straight up with no contract and ATT won't tell me how much it is! Some crap about how "they dont price the phone until it is out."

It's $550 with no contract.
$550.00 plus tax. It shows up on their consumer page now. I love this phone !!! Dumped the stock rom and went HTC. Much better !!!
Hmm...
For $550, I might just pay alittle more for real HTC Kaiser... They are arouind $670. By the way, My Tile is on the way, how does it look? AT&T website did not really showing the photo of it...

There is no cost to get an unlock code from AT&T for any of their phones. The only thing you do need is to have the international plan on your phone. The plan is an add-on service costing about $5-$10 per month and it does NOT require a contract.
So, call AT&T, tell them you will be travelling internationally soon, and ask them to add the int'l dial plan to your service. THen tell them, you will be there for a while and will use a local company SIM for a period of time which will require yo to get an unlock code for your phone. THey will give you one, which will unlock your phone FOR GOOD. Then, you can go online to the account mgr and remove the option from your service. You willonly be charged a pro-rated amount and your phone will still be unlocked forever.
I did this with my 8525 before I bought the unlocked Kaiser a month ago. And it took all of 10 minutes on the phone with AT&T Sales/Service to get it done. This is only for SIM unlock (which lets you use any SIM). It does not CID unlock which lets you flash a different ROM on it.
I don`t know how or what software use.... so if you can help me THANKS.
(Sorry for my english i'm from latinamerica)
don`t worry for your answer I understand very well english language.
t-mobile will unlock it for free.
how I do that?
how T-Mobile can unlock my phone? cuz when I buy the phone don't have any sim card so I don`t know which is the operator. when I turn on the pda the screen show me a question about a code... I DON`T KNOW WHAT IT IS.
I try with 1234 and 12345678 and NOTHING is locked again and I have to wait a several minutes for try again and that sucks!!!!
dood
Your best bet if T-Mo won't cough up an unlock code, you may have to check out a service for it. There's plenty of places that can unlock ur fone for a price... it's definitely worth it. Just search around

Just call up T-Mo and tell them you are traveling overseas and need to unlock your phone. They'll give you some sort of code you type in.
Correct me if I¡m wrong. You are from Latin America, so you bought your Wing on Ebay or something alike. If that's correct and as T-Mo does not have service in LAmerica, there's no chance to request them the unlock code because the phone is no longer binded to a T-Mo account. It's kind of odd it was not originally unlocked (I got mine through Ebay and I'm LAmerican too). At this point mi advice would be to take it to a tech shop and have it unlocked. It won't be expensive and once unlocked works really great!!

Hehe, I guess I just had a sales chimp try n sell me. When I called in to get my code. The broad would ask me the question all the time "why don't you want to be in our network" or "want to start an account?" Eventually I had to get crunk with her and say "because I don't want to... 1st amendment " She then asked if I had a t-mobile SIM card in the phone and I told her "no" coz i didn't. She then proceeded to tell me "you have to be a customer with us for 6 months before we can give you an unlock code"
Perhaps I should have been a little more persistent but oh well. I may have had to pay 10 bucks but I got what I wanted in the end hehe
In my case... I no longer have t-mobile service, and haven't had it for a good 6 months or so. My current phone (samsung eternity) has a mic that is going lame that they won't cover - and I always liked my old Wing better anyway. I got excited when I pulled it out and downloaded a new rom for it- and with my new data plan I could actually use IM! Unfortunately I discovered that the phone is not unlocked, contrary to what they told me when I bought it off of ebay...
It's ridiculous that I'd have to pay money to use a piece of hardware that I already own. Why are carriers even allowed to sim-lock phones in the first place? Isn't locking the Average Joe into a 2-year contract enough?
But I digress. After reading all these threads with frustrated regulars and whiny newbies, I guess it's either pay to unlock or get myself a new phone, eh..

Thats why i dont buy phones off of Ebay and really does it hurt that much to pay some extra $ to sim unlock ur phone? anyways sim-lokcing the phones was so that other carriers wouldnt use that device but now...pretty much all carriers have the same hTC device but to there own customized verisons of that certain device
Thought you guys might like to know this, i did it for free on my hd2 from O2 uk.
Fill the form out and sazam free unlock code in afew days.
http://service.o2.co.uk/IQ/SRVS/CGI...0000002826929629,K=6494,Sxi=8,Case=obj(14790)
Are O2 unlocking them? I thought they werent due too exclusivity. Same with my Dell Streak, I had to use a Rebel SimCard
Sorry to spoil the fun but I just read on that page...
If you're a Pay Monthly customer then you can request for your handset to be unlocked at any time, free of charge. The only exception are handsets which are exclusive to O2

And from all the press releases bombarded at us, we know that the HTC HD7 is (in the UK) an O2 Exclusive handset
It works. I filled out the form about an hour ago and just got the unlock code e-mailed to me. Tested with a Vodafone sim and it works.
My imei code is 17 digit but the form only accepts 15, What do I do.
Just use the first 15 digits.
Alright, thanks.
I just got my unlock code and all works
Has anyone tried this with a PAYG phone but selecting the word contract in the form instead?

No I didn't mean that. I meant has someone bought a PAYG HD7 then went to the O2 online form and pretend you bought a contract phone in order to try and cheat to see if they would still send an unlock code?
i also got a pay-n-go phone, but put my simplicity contract sim in

Whatch this space and I'll report back. I have a 30-day simplicity plan =and brought my phone on PAYG (the new name for buying outright from O2). I have put my request in against my Simplicity mobile number, I am expecting them to honour it under Simplicity so will report back.
I would like to update from my previous post to say I've officially eaten my hat.
As information for others out there, I am on a Sim Only Simplicity price plan and bought my HD7 on PAYG. I filled out the form using my simplicity account information and lo and behold, the following day I got my unlock code. And yes, I tested it and it works.
I have no intention of moving away from O2 at the moment as I signed up during the unlimited data times before they added a cap as well as treating me well, but it's nice to know the option is there later down the line in case.
I guess you chose pay monthly in the choose account option right? I have been on simplicity for around 15 months now so I guess I qualify for unlock as I pay monthly too, even though on simplicity and even though a PAYG handset?
My understanding is that it is an european legal requirement that if you want to use it on another carrier you can (you bought it, you are allowed to use it as you see fit etc.).
However you are still bound to your contract...
Gordon.
I was thinking of getting this device and getting it on PAYG.
Personally I don't really think any other network can offer as good deal for PAYG anyway
Is it possible to buy an HD7 in USA without being sim locked to a carrier and contract?
I planning to buy it when I came there, but need this info, please.
Thanks in advance.

In the USA, the only place that sells the HD7 is T-Mobile and it is SIM locked to T-Mobile.
You can though, but it full price without a contract from T-Mobile, and that'll net you around $500.
600.00 and if you buy it off contract I'm pretty sure t-mobile will give you the unlock code but I might be wrong and you might have to use a 3rd party site.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/HTC+-+H...skuId=1495036&st=hd7&cp=1&lp=1&contract_desc=
Thanks, even if it costs $600, it will be cheaper in almost $200. If I can, I'll buy it.
Thanks again.
Jota
You can actually buy it on Amazon for $500, no tax or shipping fees, if you are in the US.
http://wireless.amazon.com/dp/B0046RERVQ
Click the Phone Only option, and there you go.
If you are coming to Toronto I'll sell you mine! I love the phone but I have to live on Edge since T-Mobile and FIDO are different Bands. I cannot get 3G with Fido network with the T-Mobile phone. Willing to sell the phone and then wait for WP7 and HTC HD7 that I can get 3G service with. It's unlocked so should work with any carrier. Just make sure you can get highest speed data back in your home land. PM me if you are heading this way.
So what's the procedure for unlocking the unsubsidised phone? Is it unlocked right out the box or would I have to call T-mobile?
I bought one through tmobile. I called them and 24 hours later they sent me the unlock code. via email. They told me it may take 8 days to get it but I got it the next day

Do you have an account with them / a contract?
Hi guys.
I went through a lot of web sites past couple of months and now I've decided to ask you by myself. I got a present from my GF. Sam Gal S5.
She bought it on a craiglist. She tried it with her AT&T SIM card and it worked. Anyway.. she gave it to me. SIM card denied. I've paid $30 to get a code to unlocked.. Great. Buy what was my surprise. After I got in and made a couple of phone calls to providers I find out that the phone is blacklisted. I tried to get ATT sim card also but doesnt work.
So I started to look for an advice... Ive done root, changed ROM etc. But now... i dont know where else to look.
Obviously it was stolen. But I feel sorry for her and she for me...
Is that just a piece of garbage or is there ANY way to fix it?
I dont even know if im able to ask here.
Any advice or opinions helps.
Thank you
Mike
I think you're kinda screwed...Craigslists scams happen all the time..best bet if your gonna buy a phone on there is to both meet at the AT&T store and go through the whole transfer process.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using XDA Free mobile app
So ... there is no way to make it work?

The official reply from carriers is that once a phone is blacklisted it is impossible to undo. Whether or not it's a limitation of the technology (one-way trip) or if it's just company policy, the output is the same. You and your girlfriend have learned an expensive lesson. You can use it as a wi-fi-only device or a media player, but once a phone is blacklisted it will never be able to connect to a cellular network again.
The reason the phone worked with your girlfriend's SIM card was because the real owner of the phone hadn't called to report the phone stolen yet.

Mike, your situation stinks so bad. I was in a similar spot with a T-Mobile HTC M8, which stopped working after I got it off craigslist and then subsequent IMEI checks shows that it is blocked/blacklisted from T-Mobile's network due to a balance owing from the original purchaser. However, since the phone was not reported stolen, the IMEI is not actually blacklisted/blocked from all carriers, but only T-Mobile. So I bought the SIM unlock code for a few bucks online so that I could unlock the phone for other carrier use. I have tested and verified that my phone works on AT&T, even though it is blocked on T-Mobile. So...you might consider changing your carrier or selling it to someone who can use it on another carrier (with full disclosure to that buyer, of course).
