I already am aware of the possibility of changing bootanimation.zip.
I'm curious to see if there's a way to put in a custom introductory boot screen, instead of having the phrase "the power of reading" and the nook logo.

Bump. Anyone? Has the ability to change the intro before bootanimation.zip been confirmed yet?
I doubt you can change that...
I'm still getting up to speed on the nook, but from past experience with android I would say not...

i wiped my device, and then reinstalled the 1.1.0 version and then used the 3.0 version to auto-noot the device.
all seems to have gone fine, except now my "n" doesnt work so i cannot close applications and go back to my desktop.
can anyone please assist me with fixing this?
thank you.
I had the same problem. I found it to be soft keys. Get rid of soft keys, downlad button savior, and reset your launcher. That at least worked for me.

would you mins sharing how to reset the launcher?
i thought it was the soft keys after tapping the circle to bring up the menu and the tapping the house brought the desktop.
i looked for some way to reverse using the sofkeys, but could not find it.

I am running Nookie Froyo 0.6.8 SD Card Rom. On the development forum it says that you push "N" once for Launcher Pro. You push "N" twice for softkeys and long press for recent task. Whenever I push "N" once it just goes back to the home screen. I am new to launcher pro so my question is what is suppose to happen when I push "N" once. Is the launcher pro app suppose to load up? Is launcher pro just my home screen so if I push "N" it always goes back to homescreen? What is suppose to happen? I am new.
If softkeys is set up wrong, yeah it'll do the wrong thing
http://nookdevs.com/index.php?title=NookColor_Default_Launcher
Read the above, then read below....
Personally I have made "Single Tap: Softkeys" because it's more often I'm popping that up than going Home, but it's a little messy when you first boot, so I still suggest most folks set it as per the Wiki.
And long press doesn't exist in Softkeys except for the VIRTUAL OVERLAY which pops up at the bottom of the screen. Long-press of the hardware button doesn't do anything. Be nice if it would, then we could put 3 actions on it
I used to have a function, i don't know how i got it, but when i press the powerbutton the screen is turned off like a television, instead of the usual black screen.
Does anyone know what i'm talking about?
I'm currently on darky 10 rc5 final
Screen light press on power button blanks the screen is that what you mean .
Hard press on power button goes to power off screen .
As per the manual .
If its missing ask the usual culprit who goes by the name of Darky and answers no questions .
jje
No no, I think he means the awesome screen-off animation.
I have it, but only because I'm running cm7 and it came with it (one of my favorite things about the rom ).
I'm not sure how to get it otherwise, I'm sure more experienced users could help you out. Anyways, I think its called crt lock animation or something like that. You might wanna take a look in the themes section, it looked like some themes come with it.
Hope that helps!
Sent. Period.
Dont read as if he has animations as he says usual black screen . But if he has then its in the Darky post i guess .
jje
Yeah that sounds, like it! I'll search for that thanks
No prob! ;-)

*edit, haha didn't turn ALL of them on, now it works, thank you all!
Introduction:
This mod disables the actions of the capacitive front buttons on the S7. Honeycomb has the soft buttons on the statusbar so the capacitive buttons are redundant. The S7 is one of the few tabs to officially recieve Honeycomb after product launch and hence one of the few HC tabs to have capacitive buttons.
Unofficial ports of HC to devices do not count.
Requirements:
Any HC based rom
Clockwork mod
Installation:
Download Button disabler.zip
Copy to 'sdcard'
Reboot into clockwork mod
Flash zip
Finished
Notes:
Button enabler.zip is also available to revert this mod, flash in the same manner.
Do not attempt to manually flash this onto a 2.2.x based rom, it will work correctly which means that you will not be able to exit any apps and essentially render your device useless until removed. (It cannot be flashed onto a 2.2.x based rom regardless, the installer will silently fail)
I do not know how to disable the LEDs under the buttons, they are disabled in an entirely different manner, open to suggestions
If you can think of a really good use for the front buttons, I may make a mod for it:
Keep in mind the button map is global, you cannot easily make it have app-specific actions
Because of this I would recommend against having it launch specific apps
If you wish to modify the buttons yourself, the file location is: system/usr/keylayout/ATA2538_capkey.kl
Thanx, man. Will give it a try. Sometimes those buttons get annoying for ex. when you hit them accidently while playing a game
Awesome! Now if we could get the lights disabled my streak would be perfect!

Not sure if this will help...
The HTC Flyer is a GB device that got an OTA update to HC also. In their thread on enabling their buttons this post mentions how to turn on and off the lights for the buttons. Perhaps it will be a useful hint to disable them on the Streak 7.

Capacitive buttons in HC
It's not, the s7 HC kernels dont export flags to allow you to change the lights.
The S5 and possibly S7 3xx kernels exported flags so you could easily play with the values.
The only way would be to modify and recompile the kernels, the HS kernels might have it exposed as I've bugged DJ_Steve about it previously, but I use the stock kernel.
Thank you man! it works
Is it possible to remap one of the cap buttons to make the streak screen sleep/wake?
Where would one find the script for the power button to copy to the mentioned key-mapping location for say the capacitive home button?

After I select cyanogenmod, the screen goes blank for a second and then the boot sequence initiates. It comes up and scrolls down the screen. Is there anyway to give that a fresher look. I mean so we do not see the boot sequence on the screen. I know there is echo off in dos to not show the boot sequence on screen. Is there any way to get rid of?
Do you have moboot.verbose.<OS Name> i n your /boot? That enables verbose mode, primarily a development tool for native Linux ports.

May be mistaken but the only thing I think you can do is theme the boot processes (every aspect is modifiable) but I don't think you can eliminate any of them. They must all be in place to boot. So you can make them blank but it has to be present

You're talking about the blue text that shows up and shows the basic booting info before the actual OS boots ? That's somewhat like the bios boot info before Windows - and I think it's something that's just there - I don't know if you can remove it, unless there's something in the moboot configuration and theming (but I doubt it).
Hello, people, i have a few questions to you :
1. I want to change the picture, which appears when i shut down Nook using "Power Menu" and software button "Power Off". It was told to me, that this picture resides in folder /res/drawable-mdpi/(cold_boot_screen.png) in framework-res.apk, but i cannot find such a file - cold_boot_screen.png ?
2. I want to change the loading picture, when NST is starting - where to locate it ?
3. I want to change the picture for charging of e-reader, where to find it ?
(i can't remember if there is a difference in pictures when charging thru usb or thru charger ?
4. I want to change the pic/screensaver for standard unlock screen , where is it ?
I will be very grateful for your assistance !

All of these task require a rooted NST. Have you rooted your Nook yet? If you have, search the Nook Touch General and Nook Touch Android Development forums. There are detailed instructions in those forums for what you want to do.
I never actually power off my Glow Plus, so I can't say that the screen annoys.
The same goes for the power off charge screens.
The suspend screen was screwed up and I fixed both the mechanism and the images.
I've forgotten by now what exactly my complaint was.
The power off charge icons are stored in the boot image under /res/image/charger.
I normally just hit the power button briefly to put the Glow Plus in suspend mode.
Even if I forget to do that the power consumption does not seem to be large.
With occasional syncing, I hardly have to explicitly charge the battery.
I'm sure I posted it somewhere here, but I made a patch to fix the rotation of the suspend images
It's available under the mergesmali page in my signature as nook45patch.zip
You just modify and replace (using adb, apktool, mergesmali, apktool, adb) android.policy.jar
I still can not find the location of these 2 pictures in NST...
Any help will be highly appreciated !
I've never seen anything like that. Is it the original 4.5 software?
That says ReLaunch in the top left. Presumably you have replaced the standard launcher with ReLaunch and those are the default images for ReLauch, NOT the proper Nook screens.
