After I select cyanogenmod, the screen goes blank for a second and then the boot sequence initiates. It comes up and scrolls down the screen. Is there anyway to give that a fresher look. I mean so we do not see the boot sequence on the screen. I know there is echo off in dos to not show the boot sequence on screen. Is there any way to get rid of?
Do you have moboot.verbose.<OS Name> i n your /boot? That enables verbose mode, primarily a development tool for native Linux ports.

May be mistaken but the only thing I think you can do is theme the boot processes (every aspect is modifiable) but I don't think you can eliminate any of them. They must all be in place to boot. So you can make them blank but it has to be present

You're talking about the blue text that shows up and shows the basic booting info before the actual OS boots ? That's somewhat like the bios boot info before Windows - and I think it's something that's just there - I don't know if you can remove it, unless there's something in the moboot configuration and theming (but I doubt it).

All of the sudden tonight I started seeing white rectangles when I open a program and black rectangles when I close a program. When I open a program, first it will show a medium size hollow rectangle about half the size of the screen followed by a larger one about 2/3's the size of the screen and then the program opens. When I close a program it does it in reverse with black rectangles. Also, when I change todayscreen themes just after I pick a new theme I get a tiny rectangle in the upper left hand corner followed by a slightly larger one a little more towards the middle of the screen and then the wait cursor pops up. To me it seems like it's an animation, but I don't remember enabling anything like that and menu animations are disabled. I don't really care if it keeps doing that as long as it's not a sign of a problem of some kind. Anyone else seen anything like this? If it's something I accidentally enabled, how did I end up doing it so I can turn it off in the future if I decide to?
HKLM\System\GWE\Animate set this to 0
it now animates opening and closing windows
Thanks RPGO. I was just about to hard reset my phone since no one seemed to know what was going on and I wanted to make sure that it wasn't something that could potentially harm my phone sooner or later. I still don't quite know how it got activated.
Figured out how it got it got activated. It was part of Paul's tweak pack over at MoDaCo. I was just over there and happened to run across someone asking for an untweak for that tweak.
Hi,
I have a problem that I cannot get rid of the provider screen "one".
I unlocked the device -> sucessfull, it works with differend cards
flashed ROM: 3.14.00.00, Windows CE 6.1 -> OK
flashed Radio: 1.65.14.06 -> sucessfull, works
changed splash screen to earth -> works fine
changed animated.gif -> works
The only problem I have is that the device after starting with the splash screen displays the "old" provider logo (on the right lower edge you can see the ROM and Radio version) for a couple of seconds and afterwards changes to the animated.gif.
The question is: How can I get rid of this old privider logo?
many thanks for your help
Frank
That first screen you're describing is called the Splash Screen, to change simply follow Pof's instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334907
Hi,
thanks for the reply!
I changed the splash screen already, it works, if the sytem boots than I see the new splash screen but after this screen I see the ONE startscreen, followed by the animated.gif.
kind regards
Frank
I think we might be talking about the same thing, but from different points of view. When you reboot the phone:
- Firstly the splash screen appears, this is amended by the link I posted above
- After a few seconds, the ROM and Radio numbers appear in the bottom right
- The animated gif now plays (if it's enabled in the ROM you're using)
- A second splash screen appears, which is the welcomehead96 file in the Windows directory
- The phone finally displays the Today screen
Are we talking about the same screen you want to amend, or have I grabbed the wrong end of the stick here?
Hi,
the order is a little different
- Firstly the splash screen appears, this is amended by the link I posted above
YES, in my case I changed it to the earth motive it works, it shows this picture for about 2-3 seconds
- After a few seconds, the ROM and Radio numbers appear in the bottom right
YES BUT together with the ROM and radio numbers the screen changes from the splash screen before to the "ONE screen" and also shows a third number in the middle
- The animated gif now plays (if it's enabled in the ROM you're using)
YES
- A second splash screen appears, which is the welcomehead96 file in the Windows directory
YES
- The phone finally displays the Today screen
YES
I already am aware of the possibility of changing bootanimation.zip.
I'm curious to see if there's a way to put in a custom introductory boot screen, instead of having the phrase "the power of reading" and the nook logo.
- J
Bump. Anyone? Has the ability to change the intro before bootanimation.zip been confirmed yet?
I doubt you can change that...
I'm still getting up to speed on the nook, but from past experience with android I would say not...

I'm new to Android Studio. So, I'm trying to make a calculator, and I've saved every single button as a separate image. What kind of alignment am I suppose to use? Also, the buttons doesn't seem to show the full image. The first picture is what I am currently at. The second one is the format I hope I can achieve (I only need to align the buttons for now).

I'm also new but I recently came across a tutorial for building a (simpler) calculator at tutsplus.com. (sorry I can't post a link) You could adapt that by adding more rows and columns.
I think the answer about the best alignment tool is to use either GridLayout or TableLayout.
Hello, people, i have a few questions to you :
1. I want to change the picture, which appears when i shut down Nook using "Power Menu" and software button "Power Off". It was told to me, that this picture resides in folder /res/drawable-mdpi/(cold_boot_screen.png) in framework-res.apk, but i cannot find such a file - cold_boot_screen.png ?
2. I want to change the loading picture, when NST is starting - where to locate it ?
3. I want to change the picture for charging of e-reader, where to find it ?
(i can't remember if there is a difference in pictures when charging thru usb or thru charger ?
4. I want to change the pic/screensaver for standard unlock screen , where is it ?
I will be very grateful for your assistance !

All of these task require a rooted NST. Have you rooted your Nook yet? If you have, search the Nook Touch General and Nook Touch Android Development forums. There are detailed instructions in those forums for what you want to do.
I never actually power off my Glow Plus, so I can't say that the screen annoys.
The same goes for the power off charge screens.
The suspend screen was screwed up and I fixed both the mechanism and the images.
I've forgotten by now what exactly my complaint was.
The power off charge icons are stored in the boot image under /res/image/charger.
I normally just hit the power button briefly to put the Glow Plus in suspend mode.
Even if I forget to do that the power consumption does not seem to be large.
With occasional syncing, I hardly have to explicitly charge the battery.
I'm sure I posted it somewhere here, but I made a patch to fix the rotation of the suspend images
It's available under the mergesmali page in my signature as nook45patch.zip
You just modify and replace (using adb, apktool, mergesmali, apktool, adb) android.policy.jar
I still can not find the location of these 2 pictures in NST...
Any help will be highly appreciated !
I've never seen anything like that. Is it the original 4.5 software?
That says ReLaunch in the top left. Presumably you have replaced the standard launcher with ReLaunch and those are the default images for ReLauch, NOT the proper Nook screens.
