Brand new captivate that is i896 (not sure if this matters) and is running on froyo. Today i noticed when updating my Beats songs. that the amount i could put on the internal sd card was limited to approximately 2Gb while the sd card still had 10 gb free. anyone know how to fix? thanks in advanced.
Its a bug in the rogers 2.2 froyo release, heres a thread about it:

There are no perfect solutions there, but there are some work arounds. If you want to flash a new ROM that will also fix it.
ah tyvm ;] i searched for about 30 minutes before i posted but i guess im just bad xDDD
im a bit worried about failing at flashing the phone (dont want to do anyting without reading ALOT about it but i currently have no time for that) so i'll just be using kies for now =\
thankyou once again

Hello I am quite worried about my phone.
After a little while with a new rom installed widgets will FC and stop working and some apps will disappear (and if on home screen you see default image and clicking it it says"Application not found") This usually (if not always) happens after the phone for some reason thinks it is the first time it has been switched on and goes through the initial setup (asking about language, setup accounts, wifi etc)
I first noticed this happen when I had darkys 9.3(i think maybe 9.somehting anyway) and when I replaced the sim all the above occoured. Reinstalling the apps didnt fix them and most apps FC.
Since then I have tried many roms and most seems to get this affect after some time. I was using some 2.3 roms and they were great but didnt have bln + very bad battery so they had to go. I'm currently on a romkitchen rom and it was fine for a while then after a restart it did the initial setup thing again and most things are broken again.
Anyone know anything about this?
Any suggestions on what I can try?
Thanks
Try killing the rom that caused the problems the usual supect once again .
Flash to stock Eclair via Odin with pit 512 and repartition checked .
If thats ok upgrade to Froyo .

Ehh, that sounds a lot like the Internal SD issue. Try a stock 2.2.1 rom with a recent modem and see how that goes.
Can you suggest any roms/modems? I'm from UK if that makes a difference.
Btw the most recent rom was all the newest stuff from the rom kitchen. I feel like there is something that is not being wiped from my phone on a reflash even though I have installed different roms/modems/kernels. I have even deleted everything from my internal sd (the bit you can see when plugging phone into pc) The only thing I haven't wiped is my external sd, could something on that be the culprit?
Oh also as I installed this latest rom no gallery app was installed? I thought I might have just chosen the wrong option in the rom kitchen but does that mean anything?
EDIT - Could it be this RFS corruption issue?

Should I follow these steps or is there a newer method?
Rooted the N1 couple of months ago, was running MIUI and everything was perfect...until I got a new a phone (HTC inspire) and wanted to sell my N1 so I took my original 16GB out and blindly went about clearing data, wiping cache and other stuff on recovery mode. yes, a rookie mistake of doing things without reading about them first...
and on the other hand, I downloaded the PASSIMG.zip on a new 8GB sd card while it was plugged in through another phone and took that 8gb sd card and put it in my N1. I followed the wikiN1 instructions and was able to get to a stock FRG83, android version 2.2.1 etc...
my problem now is that my N1 is not being detected by the PC, not even as a storage. I know the problem is with N1, not the sd card because if i use the same sd card through other phone, it is detected and everything is fine.
thanks
p.s. Yes, i tried multiple PCs and cables and etc.
Either try passimg again or try and update the N1 to 2.3.4 at least then see if it's the same problem.
Sorry, I know this is beaten to death. With all the SD card issues that this phone had, it's not easy to search.
Running CM7 for almost a year now and happy. Starting to get constant Force Closes. Tapatalk, Youtube, Outlook calender....things that I would guess are memory intensive. Having a hard time even launching a YouTube video these days without force close.
Wondering if the SD is dying and it's time to go get a Nexus?
Cheers.
Of all the SD card failure cases I've seen over the forums for the Bell Vibrant, most of them result in a sudden irreparable boot loop out of nowhere (happened to me the same way). If I were you, I'd make a backup in CWM, save it on your computer, and just wipe and format everything on your phone so you can flash on a clean system for test running to see if you still get FCs. If so, then something is probably wrong with your hardware, if not, then I guess your SGS is still good to go
I've tried searching on this issue as well, but there is too much info on it.
Does anyone know from what point the issue was fixed on new phones? (i.e. phones manufactured after X date should not see the SD failure issue)
I think it was the froyo build "JL2 " that had a bootloader update that fixed the problem. I got mine on release day and have had no issues.
Sent from my GT - I9000M running Team Hacksung's ICS build 12
Well, flashed team hacksung ICS, and force closes continue.
Don't know if that is unstable ROM or dying phone. I'll report if the sd does die.
Try reverting back to stock. Clear cache, Dalvik, Data.
I was one of the unlucky one with the SD Card failure. The failure happens very quickly. Became unusable very fast. I tried to reboot but it went into bootloop because it could no longer reach the SD card anymore.
Your FC are most probably due to a some bugs and your phone need to restart fresh.
Hello -
I'm running Android 6.0.1 on a 10" Tab S2 (SM-T810), rooted Samsung ROM (Build MMB29K.T810XXU2CPD9).
I have this recurring issue where my SD card keeps getting corrupted. I was initially using a SanDisk 128GB Ultra card, worked fine for a long time, but kept getting corrupted in the tablet. After reformatting it would work again for a while, and then would corrupt again. Figured it's maybe a faulty SD card. So I bought a Samsung 128GB Evo card. Have the same problem now. It corrupts from time to time.
I use this tablet very infrequently and usually turn it off when I'm done using it. Most of the time when I turn it back on again the card is corrupted. So I thought I'll stop powering it down and just put it in Airplane mode when I'm done, but leave it on standby otherwise. Nope, still corrupted the SD card again.
I'm suspecting it's maybe a problem with the tablet itself, and not the SD cards I've been using. Any suggestions for how I can fix this? Is it worth trying to install a different ROM? Or is there any other suggestion you guys might have?
Thanks.

I have similar issue with tab s3, and first you could try to disscard any rom issue:
Reflash the 6.0.1 stock rom with odin and root again.
Its an opportunity to upgrade to Nougat, in this case reflash stock rom 6.0.1 with odin (do not root) and upgrade to nougat, afther that you can root.
Come back and report the results to help others with similar problems.
Yeah, flashed a stock Nougat rom I pulled off of SamMobile for the Tab S2. Will see how this holds up over the next few days. So far on a reboot it hasn't corrupted the card.
Thanks.
Hey guys,
dunno if I have to write english or german here, feel welcomed to answer in your prefered languages. The more opinions, the better!
I used rooted XXJVT (DBT) for a very long time but by time it went laggy AF.
Now I decided not only to reset the phone to make it work lagfree again but also flash Android KitKat via CWM.
The biggest problem I encountered: my eMMC died a few years ago, so I was forced to run the phone via microSD (had to scratch the chip off the mainboard to make it accept the microSD when flashing) and exchange the vold.fstab to make the phone use the microSD as internal storage. That way, it worked again. Until now.
Since the WhatsApp Services don't let any 2.3.7 and older OS verify their Account anymore (but those who were already verified can keep WhatsApp until Feb 2020) + I can't flash Custom Roms via CWM ("Waiting for SD-Card to mount" counting down from 20 to 0, then restart and same screen again, looped) probably because of the dead (no more existent) eMMC Chip, i guess the only way to make my phone work WITH WhatsApp again would be find a rom above 2.3.7 that I can flash via Odin..
Otherwise I guess I can shred my phone because it is restricted to SMS/Calls from now Q_Q
Now I need your help: Is there any possibility that I don't know yet? Any ROM out there that I could flash via Odin, dodging the "flash via CWM" way that doesn't seem to work for me (atleast, since my eMMC is dead, I don't know how could make it go past this "Waiting for SD-Card to mount" ****?
Greetings,
A desperate Android User^^
