Does CM7 support adobe flash?
I was on Honeycomb v4 2nd edition but even after the 1.1GHz overclock, it was really laggy which is fine because it is based off a preview build, so switched to the cm7 nightly of yesterday.
HC ran "TED T" fine from the market. it is an app which has ted talks on it.
however CM7 give me an error "Sorry, this video cannot be played"
anyone have any ideas on how to get flash working on cm7 or know a html app of ted talks?
i have installed adobe flash 10.2 from the market and also rebooted since.
thanks
It's a little choppy but otherwise Flash works fine for me on CM7 for a few days now. I update to the latest nightly each night before bed or morning when I get up and have not had it fail me yet since 10.2 came out. As to the Ted T app in particular that you mentioned, I downloaded and tried it out for you. The video is choppy, but otherwise it seems to work. I'd like to be of more help, but until video is fluid it really isn't worth speculating at what could be the cause in my opinion.
flash does work with cm7 (i use nightly 23) albeit a little low frame rate - trick is to use Dolphin Browser, click on menu/settings and User Agent and select Desktop
You are the second person after me to have problem with video with the more recent CM7 builds.
I went back to 25 and it works fine again.
The post above me says it works in 23.
My guess is that it was messed up in the recent builds - but you would think that someone else would have noticed.
thanks for your replies.
@animatechnica and ADude - went back to nightly 23 and 25. still no luck with ted t.
@snives - cheers for testing mate. can you tell me what nightly version u r using? thanks!
If you want random things to try that are suggested in various threads (after backing up your installation!):
- Power off and back on (should be different from reboot)
- Soft reset (20 second hold power button)
- Uninstall Flash 10.2 and download and install again
- Uninstall SetCPU or CPUtuner (supposed to not be used with CM7)
- Use standard kernel instead of OC kernel
- "Fix Permissions" in ROM manager
- Get brianf21's utility (Development Forum thread) and clear Dalvik Cache
Flash works for me, but it's choppy because it's a bad video codec.
So I have the CM7.0.2 installed on my nook color. I can not get any flash videos to play at all...
I tried it in the regular and opera browser, on various sites (NY Times, Youtube).
Everytime I get that flash player is not installed or this video can not be played....
From everything I have read, it states that flash is enabled in CM7 and it should work on the nook....
Any ideas for troubleshooting?
Thanks

Have you actually installed from Flash from the market?
It works fine on mine (CM7 full 60 nightly), with either stock browser and also with Opera mobile. I have latest Flash from the Market stored on my uSD card. Clear caches, and make sure you have a good wi fi connection?
Try uninstalling Flash 10.2 then re-install. Otherwise, sorry - I don't have any other ideas. I have CM7 Nightly 49 installed and have few troubles with Flash content so it can be done. Good luck!

I got my NC Yesterday. I'm flashing ROMs to the EMMC.
I tried CM7 and phiremods v2 and v3.
It bothers me that youtube won't work.
Can someone suggest a good ROM that MOST things work on?
Thanks
AFAIK, no current custom rom is "daily driver"
that would just be the stock 2.1 rooted with 3rd party launcher

Froyo 0.6.8 has pandora/youtube working. All apps I've tested other than slacker radio seem to work on it (slacker radio also only works in older versions of stock, it doesnt work in 1.1.0).
Id suggest Froyo 0.6.8 as it has flash, or 1.0.1 rooted if you don't care about flash and like the BN stuff.
It depends on what you need.
Here's what I've found from running Honeycomb v4 via emmc:
- Somewhat sluggish
- Market works, but is finicky when downloading apps; sometimes it does, most times it won't
- Bible app won't work; it's a must for me.
- Video works to a varying degree. I think youtube works fine.
- usb driver doesn't seem to work well. I have to adb via wireless.
- something was going on with su; you had to manually push another version (may have been corrected).
CM7
- Snappier than honeycomb.
- No video, unless done via flash.
- I haven't tried adb, yet.
- I think youtube was working on stock cm7.
Anyhoo. Like they said above, no real daily driver if you're looking for full functionality.
So I have my nookcolor set up just the way I like it with CM7 7.0.2 and D's OC kernal.
It occurred to me that one of my favorite pastimes before I flashed CM7 was to play the original Crosswords that shipped with the nook. Short of reflashing back to stock, and risking an unintended (and unwanted) 'upgrade', and pulling the apk from that image, I no longer have the crosswords apk that shipped with the nookcolor.
Does anyone have that apk or a link to the file so I could put it on my nook? I've tried the other crosswords from the market, the B&N was the favorite.
Thanks
EDIT:
That's a big never mind. Found them in the right sub forum. duh.
1 can of egg remover, please.
looking for the same thing
hello, i'm looking for the same thing. I even tried to pull the original apk off of my nook color prior to rooting it and installing CM7 on it. But everytime I try to run the crossword apk it gives me an error. I'll let you know if I can figure this out.

Do you have a link to it? I'm kind of interested now. I searched in the Apps sub-forum but it didn't return anything.
I found the an old apk here : http://code.google.com/p/nookdevs/downloads/detail?name=nookCrossWord.apk&can=2&q=
Tried installing it on my NC 200 something nightly , but when It crashes when I try running it

How are you "installing" it?
You all know many of the original apps were customized for the stock Nook ROM....
I run it fine under CM7. I just grabbed the .apk from the stock ROM and installed it under CM7 a long time ago. Ever since then it just comes back from my Titanium Backup restore when I switch/upgrade ROMs. I don't feel comfortable posting the .apk here for legal reasons, but I did want to chime in that it works fine under CM7 and MIUI.
Shortyz crosswords is a great market alternative. It automatically downloads several national crosswords every day.
Using 7-zip, you can extract the crossword apk from one of the the original roms, and like the prev poster said, it installs and runs perfectly on cm7.

I downloaded the app, put it in my dropbox and downloaded it to the NC, then installed it.
got it
Thanks for the great replies everyone. I ended up going back to the stock ROM and then used the ManualNooter to root my device. Now I have both the capabilities of CM7 and the stock Nook Apps as well.
I still also have all my shelves and original ebooks installed and have access to everything on the market as well.
Thanks to GabrialDestruir for the great walkthrough
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054027&highlight=overclock
got it
i ended up going back to a CM7 to test this out. And after pulling the original Crossword.apk from the stock 1.3 ROM I was able to get it installed and running with no problems.
However, now that I have the latest nightly build of 214. http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=encore&type=nightly
I am having boatloads of force close errors. Mainly on startup I am getting force closes on the google apps (gapps), google framework, and one of the apps i installed from the market as well. I am also unable to run the Facebook for Android app. I tried re-running the Set Permissions, and tried to clear the Davlik Cache as well.
Should I try one of the stable builds to fix these issues?
CM7.1 is out now try that

First, thanks to the developers and participants. Great work!!
All was well with my Nook Color with
CM7 7.0.2 stable, Google apps / market, Dalingrin OC emmc-040411
Then I upgraded to CM7 7.0.3
All seemed fine except I couldn't tether via USB to my computer, which I need to do.
Someone on another thread said that this was a known issue with 7.0.3. No problem, so I used Clockworkmod recovery to revert to CM7 7.0.2., then reflashed Google Apps and the Dalingrin OC to get back to where I started before the 7.0.3 upgrade.
Everything seemed fine except for the frequent error message saying that Android.Process.Media stopped unexpectedly.
So far, video doesn't work, Android App market downloads don't work and I'm sure they'll be a few more apps but it's hard to tell since the message pops up randomly (or so it seems.) The NC also seems to freeze more than normal.
Any suggestions as to how I get clean this error? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Never mind, Knaries2000 answered it in another thread.
The solution was to go to Settings/Applications/All, find Media Storage and delete it's data, then reboot.
Many thanks Knaries2000 !!!
I wish I could say never mind! I have this problem also.
I just rooted my NC last night.
CWR 3.0.2.8
ManualNooter-4-6-16
CM7 nightly-206
Google Apps 20110613
I've gone into the setup and cleared the cache as stated above, rebooted...no luck. I also read on another thread to use CWR to clear cache also, but that did not help either.
Any other suggestions?

You want CWR version 3.2.0.1..................
Thanks! Worked like a charm.
i got a 1.2 nook in today.
wrote an image to my 8gb to get clockwork recovery. after that, i used manualnooter.
reboot and everything looked good. i could open android market and whatnot but since im an android cell phone user, i wanted cyanogen mod on my nook
flash the latest nightly/gapps but couldnt get past the "touch the android to begin screen." did the four corners trick and it worked but there was no android market and googletalk wouldnt work (i would press it and it would auto close itself)
then i flashed miui, got a bunch of FCs.
then i flashed phiremod, same problems as the latest CM mightly.
my questions:
1. whats the most stable rom?
2. im use to everything working on my phone, are there just some things that are not going to work on the NC? obviously text messages and phone arent.
3. how do i get android market on there (so i can get google maps/youtube/etc)?
thanks
You probably need to repartition your nook if it came with 1.2 pre-installed

i dont know why but im about to partition it
any reason why i should be doing this?
The new nook colors have a different partition system than the old ones. Sometimes affecting installs.

This is the guide I followed and everything went smoothly:
[GUIDE] Install CM7 + Clockworkmod to EMMC - ALL NOOKS! (Updated:7/30/11)
eyeballer said:
This guide is intended to take you through the (mostly windows-based) steps needed to replace your internal nook rom with CM7, gapps and clockworkmod recovery 3.2.0.1 (latest as of 6/5/11) all on EMMC. This will work coming from any previous rom, including the latest stock software (excluding dual boot set ups, not supporting that here), no previous rooting is needed for a new nook, however don't forget to boot stock and register the device before flashing to CM7.

sweet! repartitioning did the trick. market is up and running
however, some applications i cant install. i can search for it and click on it but there is no install button => Facebook, Groupon
did some google searching, says its a problem with the new market. can anyone confirm this? one solution was to force stop/clear data on the market application. tried that and it didnt work. help would be appreciated
edit:
found a thread for my problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1207811
for future nc searchers: uninstalled market updates under manage applications in the settings.
Hey all, I'm running CM7 7.1 rc-1... I just installed dalingrin's latest oc kernel... And it killed my wifi.. It's really bugging me. My nc is currently oc'd @ 1200.. With a min speed of 600. Is the kernel killing my wifi? Or is it the overclocking?
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
interesting. I had the same experience. My case went a little bit further than that as I lost my whole config after trying to fix it ... long story short, after fixing my nook and re-installing back to stock (1.0.1 then upgrade to 1.3). I tried again, installed same distro on SD but I put all the zip files at the same time on the sd card for install (7.1, gapps and OC); everything got installed and no more wifi problems. I also upgraded to full nightly 212. So far, so good.
I also noticed something: after testing a few apps, I would get a weird behavior. In rom manager, fix permissions would fix most of the issues.

hmm.. interesting. I'll give that a try and tell you what happens.
update:
I tried to install the stock firmware by deleting cwm, repartitioning boot to stock (after installing stock 1.1)... now it just loops on the "nook color by bn" screen. any suggestions?
Follow the instructions here and start all over. Choose nightly 200 or higher and make sure you use the latest version of CWR (3.2.0.1): http://mrm3.net/nook-color-how-to-install-cyanogenmod-nightlies/
