EDIT: Below is important if your phone is still branded. This link guides you to the nodo update. This is for real. Working for me!!!

Hey everyone, I came accross this post on everythingWM. I am with TMOUS and tried this method for NoDo; it did not work for me. It did however update my device to the 7008 ver which was 7004 before. I hope this is more helpful to others than it was for me.
1.Download this zip file and deploy the 3 xap files onto your device.
2.Run the ChevronWP7.Ringtones.xap and wait till it displays “Ringtones added… and CustClear.provxml underneath”
3.Run the TouchXplorer app, navigate to My DocumentsMy Ringtones click on CustClear.provxml and select Copy from the Application Bar.
4.Navigate back inside TouchXplorer to the Windows folder.
5.Select paste from the Application Bar, this should scroll right to the bottom and put a copy of CustClear.provxml in the Windows folder.
6.Now run the Connection Setup application and click on the Ok button (it’s the one with the tick).
And now you’re done and free to re-connect to Zune and check for updates.

You cant use Zune, you use Windows Phone Developer Tools. Here is a great link showing how to get your device unlocked and get apps deployed onto your device:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=938106
The basic run down is:
Unlock Device (Chevron WP7 Unlocker)
Download and install Windows Phone Developer Tools on your PC
Once that is done you will be able to deploy .XAP files (apps) like the ones linked at the top of this post. Good luck
same here 7008
I’m actually bummed that these are the types of threads we are forced to scour with WP7; desperate for updates. I want an Energy ROM with crazy icons! lol. Crack

This method worked for me to get the 7008 update.
nodo hasnt been unleashed to the us market yet so anyone checking for it in the us wont get it branded or unbranded.
need to follow the info located here in main wp7 thread.
I think you need to modify the custclear.provxml from blank to 000-88 and then use the info in the following link.
Basicly you use a proxy to connect to a european ip that then checks microsoft update site and allows you to pull the March 2011 update. I now have nodo on my factory hd7.

hi sence you have the 7008 update you can force update via zune...
I did, on unlock htc hd7 TMO-US check link.

It works perfectly on my orwells1984 installation. I get "No updates are available at this time." with a nice log overview in the main window.

Is there a .dll file that is associated with the Windows Update program? I tried going to the site that was listed here and it says "Directory Listing Denied". Can one just post the exe here so I can try it on my WM5 machine? I am thinking that Maybe it looks to see if it's trying to be accessed through the browser or through the update program. I have the orwells1984 Rom, but never installed it and do not know how to extract files from roms.
Thanks
Nobody can help us? I try to connect to the site via PIE but I recive the same message like trojan9x. Also he tell me that I probably miss some certificates... I have installed wm5
Ok this doesnt work as the rom has not been officially released. Why would Microsoft make something available if they havent release the product that it is for officially.
Yes, I know... But mine is an official Ita qtek 9100 rom... Nothing strange.
???
I wonder if the device ID is generic. If someone is smart we might be able to input the proper Device ID
Hi Just wanna share the info regarding unlocking WP7, sorry if this posted in XDA already, but in case somebody want to try this unlock tools... here it is..
Microsoft allows developers to unlock their device for sideloading their applications for testing purposes using their marketplace account. Creating a marketplace account requires yearly charges of 99 USD which is difficult for new testing developers to pay for. A groups of developers have released a new Windows Phone 7 unlocker tool which provides the ability for anyone to unlock a WP7 device without a Marketplace developer account. The developers claim that this tool is completely safe and reversible for the phone and the app even allows you to relock the phone. Just download the exe,run it when your phone is connected. Thats it..Your phone unlocked. Here is the download links,
http://walshie.me/ChevronWP7.exe
http://www.multiupload.com/4T7AYFWLSZ
Congrats to the developers of this tool, the chevron group consisting of Long Zheng, Rafael Rivera and Chris Walsh. Follow their blog for more details on this project.

help
when i run the program and go through the check list and hit unlock i get a message that says the program has stopped workin help
1. Did u download and install the thing from the link to ms?
if no then that might be part of ur problem
2. Do u have Skype or any other app like that running on ur machine?
If so then u need to full close out of those apps. Make sure there process's are not still active. U can do so through task manager.
3. In Zune when ur phone connects does it say ur name or guest?
If guest then u need to hit the button below the phone image to set up ur phone to be the main user.
4. Did u sign into Zune?
If no then sign in. I was signed in when it worked for me.
I hope that helps troubleshoot ur problem.
Also try re downloading the unlocked app. If it was zip/rar it might of unpacked incorrectly.
1. Yes, I verified that because I can access the editor and Application Deployment (by searching for it..)
2. Only MSN, but that was switched off.
3. Will have to check, but I think it's the name of the phone.
4. Yes, I tried when signed in and out.
I will try booting in safe mode, maybe that helps.
I'll get back to you.
I have Win 7 64 bit as well and got all the same errors.
I then tried it on a Win 7 32 bit machine, with all the same settings, and no problems at all. Unlocked within a second.
Thankyou.

post from chervon bellow
Code:
ChevronWP7 Dev Team: “Earlier today, we were contacted by Brandon Watson, Director of Developer Experience for Windows Phone 7, to discuss the ChevronWP7 unlocking tool.
Through this discussion, we established a mutual understanding of our intent to enable homebrew opportunities and to open the Windows Phone 7 platform for broader access to developers and users.
To pursue these goals with Microsoft’s support, Brandon Watson has agreed to engage in further discussions with us about officially facilitating homebrew development on WP7. To fast-track discussions, we are discontinuing the unlocking tool effective immediately.”
Hope you already downloaded the software (^_^)

lol you beat me to it. make sure you extract the cert file from the zip before you attach to an email. just select the cert wait for it to download then select it again when you see the little shield next to the attachment. Then it will ask if you want to install the cert. do it and your set as far as that part of the process is concerned.
If your having issues with it in win7 x64 try changing the exe's compatibility to xp sp2 or sp3. i think i set mine to sp3 on my win7 x64 machine.
also make sure when your phone is sync to unlock your phone so its sitting at the start menu.
it worked! thanks montecristoffon for uploading of the cert file and and hackmimic for the guide.

Locations is now available for HTC WP7 devices for offline navigation. You can use Wi-Fi to download maps for many (most) regions around the world. You must connect to a charger to download.
The description is "Find your way with directions or voice guidance. You can download maps to your phone for offline use, or search and browse online maps when you're connected."
Current version is Locations_v2.1.0.0.xap
Rename files to:
Locations_v2.1.0.0.7z.001
Locations_v2.1.0.0.7z.002
ie take .7z from end of filename

Extract with WinRAR or similar on PC then deploy. Id suggest you take dxdy's suggestions above instead though.

Yes, extra with a compression program WinRar, Winzip, 7-zip
Then deploy using a .xap deployer such as XAPDeploy

Connect USB, fire up Zune, then deployer and load xap

Depends I what you want.
I prefer to have an .xap that I can load if/when I change to a different rom. I don't always want all .xap apps installed right away.
Downloading a file this each time from the marketplace would take considerable time.
That's why I went to the effort of making it available
is many tools to download xap from marketplace to PC....
i also suggest one...
It works, just need to decompress to get the .xap.

why not install xap file with XAPDeployX? XAP install via IE is only for HTC devices with DFT custom ROM....
did your phone unlocked (Chevron or interop)? did you have .net Framework 4 and WP SDK installed on PC?
did your Zune running and synced with phone when try run wAppStore on PC?
P.S.
my advice: use Nokia Drive 2.0 if you can use this app.... is much better than Locations....

Thank you for the detailed reply. I just got the phone a week ago, so I am not familiar with all these apps and ways to install xap files. The phone is not unlocked.
I guess I will have to do a research on the apps that you mention, hoping that they would work (for example Nokia maps is bot available for my Optimus 7 through the marketplace).

I am very new to the forum and to rooting in general, so please forgive my ignorance...
I have a rooted revo running stock rom zv7 and in order to stop the zv8 updates, I uninstalled software update 1.0 using titanium backup. In retrospect I should have frozen...I am unable to restore the app and would like to in order to try updating with the new All-in-one package...
I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks!
You'd have to use LGNPST to re-install the ZV7 rom or just install the ZV8 whichever you want to do. But if you want to maintain root in ZV8 install ZV7.
Thanks.
I have downloaded the software, but I am still confused by the instructions. Is there a basic guide or should I just muddle through? I think I may be beyond my abilities here...
Here, try following these instructions.
Install the software that pops up when you plug in your phone.
Get the LGNPST Package with the GenericModels and Components Plug-In:
LGNSPT
Get the driver for the phone and install it:
Get the Stock Rom TOT file and extract it.
Get the DLL file specifically for the Revolution:
Extract the "LGNPST Store & Lab"
Install the following order:
LGNPSTv1.2_Store_Version.msi
LGNPST_v1.2_Lab_Version.msi
Components >> LGNPST_Components_Ver_5_0_12_0.msi
GenericModels >> LGNPST_GenericModels_Ver_5_0_10_0.msi
Run "Right_Click_Register_DLL.reg"
Make a new folder called "Models" in the program's directory
Default: "C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST\"
Grab the "VS910.dll" and put it in the "Models" folder.
Right Click "VS910.dll" and click on Install/Register.
Note: DLL WILL NOT INSTALL UNLESS COMPONENTS AND GENERICMODELS PLUG-INS ARE INSTALLED!!!
IF YOU CANNOT INSTALL IT ON A RIGHT CLICK GO TO "C:\Windows\System32" and drag the VS910.dll on "regsvr32" and it should install.
Make sure you install it properly
REBOOT!!
Run "LGNPST"
Plug in your phone, use Internet Connection Mode, and enable USB Debugging.
Phone should pop up in the list
Select the phone and click on the Open folder button inside the .BIN query underneath the COM## details.
Since it wants a .bin file, you can open the .TOT file by typing "*.*" inside the File Name query and hitting Enter
Select the TOT file for your stock ROM and Click OK
Then click on Upgrade
Wait a few minutes
Voila
I'm currently following these steps atm since I'm reverting back to stock ZV7 then updating to ZV8
Thanks again. These are the instructions that I found earlier. I guess that's about as simple as it can get. I'll give it a try and see what happens...

If you have Windows 7 64-Bit you'll most likely end up in a problem like I just did where it won't register which there's a fix in General.
I was able to successfully recover the stock and update zv8. I haven't been able to root yet, but I found the forum that covers this. Thanks so much for your help; the instructions were much easier to follow with the downloads/software in front of me.
Thanks again!
I am hoping that someone with an Ativ S can download the "DiagnosticTool_Sprint" from the Windows Phone store and upload it here. It is available if you set "oemId=htc" in fiddler. I think there are some hidden pages we can use to interop unlock HTC.
Link:
"DiagnosticTool_Sprint" for Windows Phone http://www.windowsphone.com/s?appid=e69a2877-59b8-43ed-898d-554fbc4b8b2b
Thanks!
To be clear, you are asking that somebody download this HTC app to their phone and install it, then use the MTP full file system access to extract the binaries for reverse engineering? Sounds like a plan, if I could persuade my phone to do the full file system access thing right now I would (away from home, on my Surface RT right now).

Hi
first to download this app we need someone with a sprint device to grab correct url using fiddler.
like this one:
Code:
http://marketplaceedgeservice....................os=8.0.10512.0&cc=us&lang=en-us&hw=268473858&moid=sfr-fr/
this way we can have correct hw & moid value & install on any device...
@GoodDayToDie yup. that is what I am asking for. Based on what @thals1992 saw when he was playing with this on his 8XT is that depending on what dial codes you put in, the same app loads with different pages.
@xboxmod the only thing that needs to be changed to enable downloading from the store is the oemId. It needs to be HTC. I was able to download it to my T-Mobile Branded 8x (which Sprint doesn't even sell) with no issues. (it's moID is "null" for some reason on my phone after applying GDR3 and hard resetting)

I was able to download it to my T-Mobile Branded 8x (which Sprint doesn't even sell) with no issues. (it's moID is "null" for some reason on my phone after applying GDR3 and hard resetting)

Were you able to get this off your Ativ? I'd love to start ripping into it.

I did manage to extract the DiagnosticTool_Sprint and it's now an unencrypted xap, the data.zip is all the files how I found them on my phone (with the exact path to the program and the appdata).
I will decompile The dlls and Look for hidden pages

@GoodDayToDie @xboxmod Apparently there is a capability called <!--Capability Name="ID_CAP_NVREADWRITE" /-->. Too bad it's commented out in their manifest :/ I wonder what it does? (besides the obvious, based on the name)
edit:
I was able to plug in my phone and Windows Updates decided to install drivers! I now have "HTC Diagnostic Interface (Com 6)", HTC NEMA Interface (Com 8)", "HTC USB Modem", and "HTC Remote NDIS-Based Device" (this one is currently Code 10.) Thanks Sprint! >
