does anyone know if the wiimote app wil work if you are running cognition? the dev says it doesnt work on the captivate but it will work on the captivate if you are running something like cyanogenmod
http://android.ccpcreations.com/wiicontroller/wc-compatibility
would be cool to pickup a wiimote and use it for game roms
According to the Dev's site, it won't run because of "Samsung's Software" which could be TouchWiz, or something more like the Bluetooth drivers or software stack. Cognition always tries to be the closest thing to stock but freeing limitations and making it faster and smoother. So I doubt he removed too much Samsung software. A more aggressive rom (like Phoenix) might work or maybe you just need a different kernel/modem combo.
i have it installed, i just dont want to buy a wii remote to try it out, ill just wait until i go over to a friends that has a wii and test it out

Hi Everyone... If you read any of my past posts, you will know I LOVE my Tilt... highyl reccomend it to anyone... My one biggest complaint is when it comes to gaming, the controls suck... I have wlays loved using my phone as a portable video games device using various emulators... All the way from my first Motorola MPX 200 .... I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to use a Wii Mote as a wireless gaming controller... Somehow connect it via bluetooth and use its buttons to control..
I have "cheated" already and done something simmilar using a Bluetooth Keyboard... Worked great, but lugging around a full sized keyboard is a bit much... I can keep a Wiimote in the car (as I already do for when I am at a friends)... The way the screen til on the phone is perfect.. So, basically I jsut need the wiimote to work like a keyboard, and use the Emulators software to map the buttons myself... Any suggestions? Would I need a driver or is there another route?? I am not worried about using the itnternal sensors or anything.. just basic up down left right a b button stuff... The "Cool" factor to get this working would over the top..
Of course, the phone is the Tilt.. I am still using the standard AT&T 6.0 Rom that came on the phone with all the usual tweaks... I use Pocket Nester to emulate the NES... Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
i dont know about the wiimote but if you want to try, activate bluetooth and search for devices, press 1 and 2 on the wiimote. if it asks for a code, try 0000.
otherwise you can buy this device http://zeemote.com/
I'm not sure about winmo, but I know for desktop there are a ton of ways to use the wii-mote, both wired and wirelessly. It would be really cool to use on on the tilt, but I think we would need to create drivers first.

Ever since the my Incredible days I enjoyed toting a Wii remote on trips for playing NES, Snes and so on. I always envied the EVO for being able to do it with that massive screen. It ony really needed a kickstand and it be the perfect pocket gaming machine. Well ever since I got the ThunderBolt I hoped one day it would be possible. Thanks to Slayer and Cyanogen 7 Mod plus all the other hard working Devs this is now a reality.
Here We Go !
Tools needed
Must be ROOTED !
Wii remote MUST be OEM except the Mini Wii remote. :: Only ones I found to work, no Nyko's:: - Optional, this is not needed to play
Cyanogen 7 Mod :: I run update-cm-7.1.0-RC0.1, why? because CM uses Bluetooth Stack 2.0 unlike stock sense or other roms, Gingerbread Natively does not even run this that I know of.
Find it in this thread :: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049542
Nesoid Lite or Premium, this is LIte link :: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.androidemu.neslite&feature=search_result
Not needed if you don't have Wiimote:: WiiController for bluetooth connection find it here :: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.ccpcreations.android.WiiUseAndroid&feature=search_result
ROMS :: FInd it.........Yourself, don't be Lazy or ask me, all of the above items are free. you can afford to find these on your own.
If you don't have a Wiimote you can stop right here and use onscreen controls with Nesoid.
OK onto the fun !
First things first, install everything
1. Turn bluetooth on
2. Go into keyboard settings in menu and enable the Wii IME for the controller
3. Go into a message or email, somewhere you can type, long press and select input method, then select Wii controller.
4. Go to your Wii controller app and select Init and Connect
5. Hit the Sync button on the controller ::located under battery door, red button:: or press buttons 1 and 2 at the same time. all the blue lights on the Wii remote should flash now. The phone should find your Wii remote and set player number 1 light to lit. Press some Wii controller buttons, you should see them register on screen.
6 Ok almost good to go, the settings are remembered from this point on, go into nesoid load a Rom up, hit menu on your phone, go to settings Audio/Video set the Aspect Ratio to 16:9
7.Back out one click and go to Other Settings, Check the check box labeled Use Input Method.
8. Go back another click again, go to Input Settings Uncheck Virtual Keypad check box.
9. Go to keymappings in the same menu tap under Pad 1 your button you want to input then hit the corrisponding button on your Wii remote.
10. Back out till you get to the game you loaded and have fun!
Other Notes ::
When you're done playing you wil have to go into a message and select your keyboard Input method to your Keyboard in order to be able to type again.
This setup can also be used with the Classc retro Wii remote plugged into the Wii controller.
This will also work with Snesoid, Genoid, GBA, N64oid, and PSX Emultators.
PS3 and Xbox 360 controllers CAN'T be used. Why? because I said so.....No in reality, Sony encrypts PS3's bluetooth protocol. So till a Dev releases a new App to decode it you're out of luck. Xbox 360 uses 2.4 GHZ Technology not Bluetooth so nope will not work.
Shout out to Slayer and his Wife along with all the other Devs working on the ThunderBolt. Thank you for all the hard work you do to bring us Cyanogen 7 Mod and making things like this possible.
Credit goes to all the other Devs out there for making apps like WiiController and Nesoid avalible on Android
Only On Android.
Very nice write up. Thank you

I'm pretty sure you can set the Wiimote program to revert back to the default keyboard when you turn off Bluetooth or turn off your Wiimote. I'm probably going to do this at some point this week (or just wait for the "stable" CM7), since this is what I miss most from my OG Droid.
very nice!! I've been wanting to use a wii remote for a while now. thanx for the write up.
Wish I still had my wii now . Possible you have a link on getting a PS3 controller working with CM7? I've been looking all around and just finding all old outdated stuff.

You can't, far as I remember this has been dropped due to the security type Sony uses to encrypt the Bluetooth signal on Ps3 controllers. The protocol only recently was figured out where it can easily be connected on PC. So if even close to possible a dev would still need to develop a app capable of decoding and then recognizing inputs from the Ps3 controller.
before it's asked - Why can't I use a Xbox360 Controller? it does not use Bluetooth, it uses 2.4 GHZ signal.
You're welcome to all those that had success, I know how hard it is to find a detailed guide with setup info. Ths is what i figured out from my own tinkering.
As for Cm7 stable version, Cm7 is very stable, I had alot of issues with the new release but tried the .1 version from Slayer's Twitter and low and behold I had no more bugs and Cm7 runs almost flawless. I say almost cause I have not found any bugs yet but i'm sure there are some.
If Wii controller is able to remember settngs like tha let me know , i'll gladly update the guide.

Ok, thanks. I figured it wasn't anymore, that's why everything I was getting was from 3+ years ago.
now if only we could get emulators to work with dlna and use the thunderbolt as a portable gaming system for compatible tv sets

I connected my PS3 controller to my PC back in 08, it was running XP. It wasn't hard, I only did it for the novelty of it, never used it for emulators

Yea but the issue was you needed Glove Pie, a compatible bluetooth adapter, the script for Glove Pie. It was more a hassle then anything. Now I heard you can use Xpadder with a one click connect buton.
thanks for the informative write up I am gonna have to try this sounds awesome
Thank you for the write up! I'm running BAMF 2.0.3 at the moment but plan on trying CM7 sometime soon so I'll keep this thread bookmarked!
I went ahead and went this route to avoid switching ROMs all the time
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1146205
Wow, this is freaking cool! Thanks for the write-up!
So, i have been reading thread after thread...AFTER thread on here and tabletroms.. and a few other choice places.. I just got my Streak 7. I have learned to root it, CMW, NVFLASH, etc.. i'm good on all these accounts.
i updated my streak (t-mobile 4g) to newest dell rom and liked it.. it fixed the dock speaker issue (no sound out of speakers when docked.) i rooted it but realized the kernel wouldn't allow overclocking (which i want to do for my tablet purpose)
So i switched over to Honeystreak r8 which is working perfect.. EXCEPT the dock issue is back.. docking the tablet (official v.2 dock) regardless of what you choose, shuts off internal speakers. So.. what am asking here is..Is there a rom that allows OCing.. and sound out of speakers while docked? Where can i find just a kernel i can flash with CWM on stock rom that allows overclocking (honeycomb)
second question, build.prop. i have looked EVERYWHERE and no one has mentioned this.. The marketplace (play) is not complete. Many apps are "not allowed" on this tablet. I know the "fix" of editing your build.prop with a proper/different product and fingerprint but whats a good one? I would like to install Hulu and a few other things WITHOUT sideloading. I can;t be the first person to ask this.. but i have searched all forms of combo words to get an answer and have not found one.
Last question. I read that the offical dock supports USB Host, i guess through the USB plug on the back... yet official rom does not support this.. (right?) So.. How do i plug a hub into it (it's a female Mini-USB NOT Micro) and also WHAT rom/kernel/whatever supports it..
Thank you..
The dock issue was fixed with stock rom 514, and HS R8 is based off of 507.
You would need to use 514 to get the fix, it might be possible to hack those two together and get both, but it hasnt been done yet. Also DJ_steve has no plans on HS as he's been working on ICS.
If you're unsure about rom versions, see Dell Streak 7 Official roms - xda wiki and
Dell Update process for an explaniation on the version strings.
Depends on the app, best thing to do is find out why it's not compatable in the first place. Some apps (like hulu i think?, or was it netflix?) use whitelists, which means only those devices can use it.
You could use a popular device like the transformer or xoom, or a similar device like the Gtab 7 which has similar specs (sorta).
The stock kernel doesnt support much in the way of usb-hosting. The HS kernel might, but also I believe you must provide power yourself, the port doesnt offer much power at all or so I hear. I'll have to get back to you on that in a few weeks.
How bout a kernel.. is there a place or is there a download of just an OCed/ OC capable kernel for the stock-rooted rom? That would solve one of my major dock issues. But i bought this device to make it a nice little portable arcade/emulator box and everything is great but i need to OC the thing to make some emulators really run nice. and i use the dock to.. well.. hold it up and charge it.
Also, do you know where i can find galaxy tab 7 build.prop examples?
There's no other kernels besides the HS one, (if you dont count the ICS one).
You cant just install it over 514, HS is partitioned differently.
So I'm having a dilemma and not sure if there is a fix out there (I couldn't find one from some searching myself); but is there a way to hook up controllers to Sense 5? Whether it is my PS3 or my Wii controller I can't seem to get any of the programs to work with it.
If I load CM it works fine, but when I throw Sense back on my One it doesn't work. (Apparently Sense uses a different Bluetooth?). Was mildly hoping this would be resolved with 4.2.2 Sense but that still won't work and I actually LIKE the software HTC created compared to some other vendors (looking at you Touchwiz) and would rather not have to get rid of it just to hook up the game controllers (I also make use of the IR a lot).
Hey there. I have the Nook HD+ and was using Cyanogenmod 10.1 for a while. I very much enjoyed using it, but eventually ran into an issue I hope to get resolved someway. One of the main things I'd like to do with my tablet is use it for emulators and for that I'd like to use a wii remote. Now, the issue with that is, as some of you may know, wii remotes no longer connect to android as of 4.2 due to some bluetooth change. What I've found out is that the remote will sync to the standard Nook OS, due to it being 4.1 or whatever.
So I guess my question would be this. Is there a way to use cyanogenmod and still get the wiimote functionality in some form? Is it possible to dual boot or something along those lines? As in use the stock Nook OS for emulation and cyanogen for other uses. I'm not very experienced when it comes to working with phone ROMs and such. And when I did search for things about dual booting it was paired with heavy use of jargon and I couldn't make heads or tails of it. I'm really looking for options for things I could go about doing here.
Thanks for your time

If CM10.1 (android 4.1) works with the wii remote, could you not go back to using that? What was the issue you mention running into?
In the development forum there are builds of CM10.1 and the latest stock OS that can run off an sd card rather than installing to the device, so you can have a kind of dual boot situation where you just pop the sd card in when you want to use that operating system. That might work for your situation.

With the latest update ( 2.1.1 ), the stock Nook HD+ is ICS 4.0.4. Google broke Android's bluetooth support with Jellybean 4.2+, and CM and others are trying to fix it but with limited success. You can dual boot by running an alternate OS off of the SD Card. I run stock 2.1.1 from SD Card as per:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2330083
With a supported 16/32GB SD Card you can have plenty of room for all kinds of roms for emulators.
However, I would rather not use the WiiMote for emulators. Rather, GameStop has a $9.99 bluetooth wireless controller for Android Tablets that purportedly still works with CM 10.1/2 and has analog sticks and all. I plan to get one of those, but they are sold out online and I just haven't made the trek to a GameStop that has them....
Gamestop no longer has those blu tooth controllers, but the gamestop red samurai
works very well...I just got one a few weeks ago. $ 19.99
