I'm just wondering about the old files such as dreamimg.nbh, and the older files I used to root my phone with, If I can now delete them..?
I'm running the latest cyanogen mod, but the old updates are taking up 100-200MB of space on my SD card..

No you shouldn't need them anymore. You would only need them if you became unrooted again

[Q] After upgrading to CM10 "emmc" changed to "extSdCard" and related problems
Hi,
I've recently updated my GNote (GT-7000) from CM9 to CM10, and looks like with CM10 the external sd card previously mouted as "emmc" has become "extSdCard".
Since then some of the apps (such as Apollo) have trouble seeing media files, others can't see the sd card at all, and when connecting to the desktop the drive which normally shows the content of the external sd card, only shows a couple of folders of it rather than the whole content as it used to do before (when using CM9 and previous roms I had).
Looked around for possible causes, but didn't find much. Someone mentioned that rommanager might have placed ".nomedia" files on the root of the internal or external sd card causing the problem, but that's not my case. Tried also doing a full wipe and reinstall of CM10, no joy.
Any idea?
Thanks!
- Adriano
That's the standard mount points for cm10 there are apps that will remount the sd and external sd in mnt as on stock roms. I had a quick look but couldn't find them, but I'm sure someone else will be able to find them.

clean install without restoring data of apps

Thank you for the suggestions -- I tried a clean install as well, but even the builtin apps (Apollo) still had troubles accessing the external sd card (not seeing any of the mp3s I had there). I have now resolved for restoring a CM9 backup I took before upgrading to 10... and everything is working as it used to.
Not sure why I ran into these issues which no one else seems having encountered so far.

I have the same problem except that the files on my internal sd card are not read by apollo player And the gallery. Is there any workaround. The problem started as soon as I upgraded from cm9 to cm10

Download ICS SD Binder. Check all 3 options and reboot. The path should be mnt/extSdCard (i think default is odb or so, make sure you change it) . It worked for me and so I'm trying to answer everyone with this problem. Give me feedback soon. And thanks button if I heped.

It didn't -- I don't need to have /emmc bound to /sdcard/external_sd as it was in GB. With CM9 everything for me works just fine with /emmc.
I tried the latest CM10 nightly, and using ICS SD Binder didn't change things. In the latest CM10 now there is also another mountpoint, called /storage/ and underneath sdcard0 and sdcard1 pointing to the internal and external storages respectively. In addition to /sdcard/ and extSDCard. Every few builds there seem to be some new change related to the storage's mount point. Going to wait another while before doing other attempts.

Any update on this question?
seems these are the new mount points even on the New JB roms from samsung
Somehow in some late November nightly, after flashing it, the files on my Internal SD were detected properly and it has all been working properly since. touchwood!
i have a problem with all 4.1.2 jb roms that I do not have access to my external card. when I use any application to read the media it works well (like gallery or apollo) but when I want to use the other files such as documents or install apk from the card it doesnt work.i hope you understand me because i want to use this rom .any help?
With rootexplorer you can find the external card in emmc or mnt/emmc.
Cheers,
If this post helped you push the "thanks" button.

thx
i want to know if this problem is with all 4.1.2 jb rom or only in my phone.
I have no problems on my CM10 nightly.so it's your phone/configuration.
The "problem" is with all cm based roms. Every cyanogenmod has mounted in that locations the sd cards, like a linux root directory.
Don't forget to say thanks if this post helped you.

What problem are you referring too? I just tried it to be sure and I can access the files on my external SDcard using a file browser app I got from the Play Store. For instance, I can install an apk that is stored on my external SD-card.

You could try backing up the data of the card and reformat it. Or try a spare micro SD card if you have one.
I know that probably won't work but it's worth a try and honestly I can't think of anything else.
Try several file browser apps to see if that makes a difference.
I assume you've already tried to reboot and remount the card?

i will try
now i solved the problem by using Explorer..i found my files in emmc
i think it is not a card problem because when i tried to use it with GB or ICS rom it works
Ok so I am starting this thread to track down the SD unmounting issue present on V30B. Every idea is welcome.
Things I have tried and have not helped me:
Pimp my ROM (tweaks to external memory)
Factory Reset
Format SD (on ROM)
Different SD card
look this bug is not specific to the rom , most of v30b users dont face it ,, try removing "android_secure" folder from sd ,, also re-flahs your current rom on full wipe
Had that issue too.
Things i've done to track down the issue in 7 days testing period.
1) Formatted my SD Card (16Gb Sandisk Class8)
2) some combinations of cluster sizes (reformatting through Card readers in windows - filesystem fat32) and mp3 only for testing
3) Finally, reflash rom (Marvel ICS) and yes, once again i had that issue after receiving some phone calls...
I believe it's the SD Card itself which started to give up due to aging ... (3 years old)
I'll try if that happens again with a 2Gb Samsung
Question: what's the brand, size and speed class of your SD card?

I have tried 2 cards with same results: Amazon class 10 16GB and Kingmax class 4 4GB(included with phone). I was on Froyo before updating to ICS and never had this issue until updating.
BTW, have you tried the tweaks from Pimp my Rom?
Had this problem twice, but for now, no issues. I'll report if that happens again, but my main concern is that there's something going on with the SD Cards or some files.
Maybe ICS has some "sensitivity" with that so we should all start with format and transfer only our crucial files on the card to troubleshoot...

Check my post #4 .... just a bit above all these
So far, no unexpected unmounts, but as far as i'm reading about this issue of ICS on some other cellphones, it might have to do with the source code (I have no idea about these things) of this version, or it's just a coincidence and our SD cards are more sensitive now, with 4.0
First, try to format and restore your basic folders (music, pictures etc..) do not restore all useless folders or "junk" files... keep your SD card and input tray's contacts clean and firmly insert the card.
We'll see how it goes.... by the way, i have no tweaks from Pimp my rom for the microSD.
Ok I just reflashed (same V30B). I will conduct a 1 day validation to see if it is solved.
I had that problem a lot with rrgrrg's IceBOOM, only once in that week I used his 4.01 and non at all in the two days I use 5.01. But I must say that I heard from other ppl that use a v30b version, that they have it a lot and other ppl with the same ROM don't have it at all, so I gues it is a mix that some cards are more 'sensible' and some ROMs can handle it better.
tfs
again it unmounted. I guess we should wait for V30C (if it is ever released) hoping this bug was addressed.
Formatting the SD from the phone solves the problem ....
Save files first on the PC and then copy them back ..

I've had this happen with 28C. I've been using 30B that is not rooted and not had a problem at all. I'm starting to think it's the flash process. I erased all data on the SD card and flashed with Smart Flash. No problems seem it came out.
It is clear that the solution is a pain, but is the only one there ..

I know. I have two OB's and flashed both with 28C. Mine had the SD problem while the girl friends didn't.

My friend who have my old OB have this issue too.
Hey XDA,
So I wanted to get a fresh start on my Note and figured I'd reformat the internal SD card in CWM (I used "default" format option).
Turns out that wasn't a very good idea...
Fortunately, my Note still boots into Android (CM 11), I still have root, recovery and everything. But my internal SD card simply doesn't work. I actually first noticed something was wrong when I tried to download something in Chrome and it said I don't have an SD card...
Does anyone have any suggestions how I might get my phone's memory back in working order?
Thanks

Flash the CM 10.2 kernel or raw r4 kernel. then reboot into recovery. Format sdcard0 again.

Thanks, that worked! I also flashed CM11 again afterwards and everything looks good.
Out of curiosity, what makes these two older kernels special that they can fix the formatting?

TBH.. I don't know. I myself have been facing issues with cm11 not reading the external SD or internal SD. And that's the way I did it.
As we are on cm11 topic, do you have issues saving username and password on default browser?

Sorry, I only use Chrome so I wouldn't know.
In fact, I just noticed I don't have the AOSP browser at all. I vaguely remember the PA gapps install script mentioning it removed it, so that's probably why...
OK..you might have flashed the full modular gapps that removes the browser and messaging app.
Yeah, that sounds about right. I don't mind, it means less clutter on my phone. I don't use those apps anyway.
